The Riddler Mindbender

One of the few true "terrain" coasters at a Six Flags park, Mindbender is an absolute classic. It's got 2 forceful vertical loops, some intense positive G's in the ravine, and a nice tunnel. The area can be prone to flooding, however, so this coaster has at times been underwater. The original trains have been replaced and it's gotten a DC themed makeover to The Riddler, but it's still a great ride for older kids. A Schwarzkopf gem!

This coaster is a fun one. The two vertical loops are very forceful, and the downward dive is also a great element of the ride. The only reason this is not getting 5 stars is because of the recent refurbishment that happened. While it's great that this old ride is still getting attention from the park, the older trains were swapped out for shorter, lighter ones which makes some parts of the ride slower than before. The trim brakes are also hitting hard, harder than they ever did before the refurbishment. Overall though still a great ride, and I would recommend this to anyone visiting.

The Riddler Mindbender is a solid and enjoyable roller coaster. The drops and two loops are quite fun. It's also nothing too intense, so it's good for more intermediate coaster riders. There are some cons though. Given that this is an extremely old ride, there are some parts that are very rough. Especially the brake run. The theming is also pretty lackluster. They basically just put some question marks up on the station. But the scenery is cool. The trees have grown in nicely around it and it's right next to Batman: The Ride. Overall, this is a fun, albeit slightly basic roller coaster. Intensity Rating: 6.5/10 Overall Rating: 7/10

Very, very smooth ride. The tunnel is pretty cool and the loops are barely noticeable because they're so smooth. If I had any criticism of this ride, it would be that it's just a little boring. But I really don't care because it's a great ride.

Six Flags neutered this coaster when they "refurbished" it, they took what was a intense thrill machine into a borderline family coaster. The trims take all your speed away before the final vertical loop and the shorter trains don't seem to fit the track as well or pull as much forces at the ends of the trains. *Upped to 4 stars since they dialed back the excessive trimming.

Unfortunately, Six Flags ruined this once great roller coaster with renovating this ride, giving it new AND shorter (5-car vs originally 7-car) trains that makes the ride feel immensely slower and causes the coaster to no longer have airtime. This is my home park and this is a bummer that this is the case, and I end up skipping the ride now because it’s not worth the wait with the other great rides here. This ride was great with the old trains and could potentially be great again in the future if it were able to run faster somehow. I will always have a soft spot for this ride though.

First time I rode it I got really bad whiplash, but the last 5 or so times it has been quite fun! Good starter coasters for people who want to ride looping coasters! AWESOME COASTER! Just hope they don't tear it down on Thursday😭😭😭😭😭😭😰😰😰😰😢😢😢😢

I absolutely love this ride! They couldn't have made it any better. One of the best rides in the park. I recommend front seat.. Not because the back seat rattles, but because the front seat on this ride (along with most rides) just rocks.

It is a huge classic roller coaster I would recommend to this one it is super smooth but it has a very loud lift hill

Mindbender, or now known as The Riddler Mindbender, is a great entry roller coaster for people who are still scared of heights. Opening back in 1978 as the world's first triple loop coaster, Mindbender is a classic and is still recognized as an extremely famous roller coaster. Located in Gotham City of the park, they rebranded it really well to fit with Gotham City, and now has "The Riddler" at the beginning of the name, rebranded in the fall of 2021. While the second loop isn't really a loop and it's more of an helix loop, it was still listed as the world's first triple-loop roller coaster and even though it's not extremely thrill-seeking, it's still a great classic worth checking out. Also, the lines for this ride aren't usually the longest considering the location in the park, so it's a great ride to always check out!

??BEWILDERMENT?? One of the last operating -- and most unique -- custom Schwarzkopf roller coaster creations is far more than just a brain teaser. I, like many enthusiasts, consider this a sister coaster to 'Shock Wave' over at sibling park SFOT in Dallas. In fact, both rides opened within a month of each other--'Mind Bender' preceding its Texas brethren by a mere 3 weeks. Along with identical trains and similar four-tube truss track construction, the whopping G-forces are also alike (this pulls 5.4G, while 'SW' nets a gnarly 5.9G). Due to being built over a ravine, there's a considerable elevation change which adds to the ride's thrill factor. The 2nd vertical loop hovers mere inches above water; during local area flooding in September 2009, this portion of the ride was partially submerged! Trains use individual ratcheting lap bars and cars are fairly cramped. There's a brief tunnel before the final brake run and a very aesthetically-pleasing natural waterfall nearby. In 1997, this ride was repainted green to fit in with the Gotham City section of the park. The '?' is prominent on the entry signage, making 'Mind Bender' unofficially tied to the villainous Riddler. The wrapping on the train matches this scheme as well. The main reason for the unusually high G's is because the loops are more akin to a perfect circle and less like the typical teardrop shape. Whether in the front, back, or middle rows, you'll feel those G's, and baby it is WONDERFUL. A flip side to this is the delightful *negative* G's experienced in the front row at the crest of each turnaround. It twice caught me by surprise, and I ate that sh*t up. Simply marvelous. It comes as no surprise to me that both 'Mind Bender' and its fraternal twin 'Shock Wave' continue to rank highly in the worldwide poll of steel roller coasters. In fact, this particular ride was #14 in the 2010 listing, higher than both my own 'Raging Bull' AND the legendary 'Nemesis', which is rather impressive. Eric S's Six Flags Over Georgia coaster rating : 3rd out of 9! Final verdict --- this splendid "terrain" ride is truly one-of-a-kind in the world. Although it's nowhere near the fastest, tallest, longest, or has the most inversions, it began a steel thrill machine boom back in the late 1970's that still hasn't stopped to this day. For that it deserves a whole heap of praise.....and it's still a helluva fun ride, to boot! Between the brain-boggling G-forces, the unexpected pops of airtime in the front row, and the gorgeous green gully the coaster is built over, 'Mind Bender' is a fantastic attraction that you do NOT want to miss on your trip to Six Flags Over Georgia. Very highly recommended!!

As I continue my SFOG roller coaster reviews, one could easily be missed. Through the very well crafted Gotham City, it is hard to notice much more than the giant and amazing Batman ride (review from me is live and has a lot of personal attachment). But I would not be giving a lot of credit to this amusement park that I have frequented so much if I didn't mention the mind bender. Until I saw the review and photos from Eric S., I didn't realize the history or significance of this coaster. This should go and show all of you Yelpers that a well thought out review of ANYTHING can be very appreciated. So shout out Eric S!!! This is the perfect compliment to the inverted roller coaster of the Batman. It really plays into the theme of the Riddler and Batman being on opposing sides. Also in contrast to its hero coaster just steps away, the wait has been much shorter to get on the mind bender. I guess that is a win for the evil side of Gotham. But appreciated by me. It is not the best the park has to offer. But it is still an extremely fun experience without the flare and publicity of the other rides in the park. A good solid four star experience from line, experience and enjoyability.

It seems like most all roller coasters try to do one of 2 things - take you up and down airtime hills or turn you upside down a bunch of times. Rocky Mountain Construction has been breaking out of that mold lately, but it's great to see that many years ago the fine folks at Schwarzkopf were like "Why not get you a coaster that can do both? " Mindbender is an appealing mix of drops and loops that uses elevation changes in it's woodsy setting to it's advantage. It only takes riders upside down twice, but I liked it quite a bit better than SFOG's other vintage looper, Vekoma's Blue Hawk. I'm generally more a fan of drops than inversions, though, so if a coaster does nothing but take you upside down I'm probably not going to be as into it. Still, to a casual coaster rider there's probably enough overlap between Mindbender and Blue Hawk that I was a little surprised to see both in the same park. I rode Mindbender in both the front and back row and enjoyed both. The waterfall and tunnel are nice touches. The Riddler theming elicited a big "whatever" from me, but it's barely even there apart from the colors and question marks. This coaster is remarkably smooth for its age, but is still just a little clunky. It's not at all painful, at least to me, but thinking on it my (slight) problem was this subtle herky jerkiness is it takes away from the sensation of speed. All my 5 star coasters at this park just feel like they're barreling relentlessly through the course, and Mindbender, though its vintage, scenic and fun to ride just doesn't quite measure up. If Yelp had half stars I'd probably let it rock a 4 and a half, but I just can't let it past the velvet rope into the 5 star club here.

A great classic that you should not skip! This is one of the most forceful classic looping coasters I've ridden. The G-Force on this ride is insane! And the use of lap bars instead of the over-shoulder restraints is awesome!

NO. The wait for this ride is probably one of the worst (besides from Superman) and no one is there to help expedite the process. After an hour of waiting, you'll get on and get the worst headache from all the bumps and unsteadiness. I love roller coasters, but sometimes I fear that they are not maintaining the ride like they're suppose to.
