The food was ok the both pastas that my family ordered were under cooked and my mothers had a hair in it. my fathers pork chop had the same black hair in it as well. A common theam with the meat we were served was that they were tough. Both my father’s and brothers meals were tough but the rest of the dish was good. My meal was mostly good such as the fries and the onion, the burger was cooked past medium(what i asked) and was well done and tough. The servers were very nice and took care of the problems and always were around to fill up the waters and they held up the drink menu for my wheel chain bound mother. The price for each dish was a lot around $20 per and I expected a better meal for that price

I was here 36 years ago when Joey first opened. Now on my 70th birthday I had the Good Fortune to eat at this same restaurant. Joey has made it to hard times and the product he puts in front of you is fantastic. The presentation is gorgeous and the food, well, MANJA!

Giving a restaurant you've never been to a try can be dangerous but sometimes rewarding. Well the ritz is one of those wonderful moments when you're glad you walked in. Doesn't have much atmosphere and a bit noisy but the food and service is excellent. Portions are enough to take home and so fresh and well made hats off to the chef. Great service by laurie. Prices are very reasonable and definitely make a reservation. Highly recommend.

This was an exceptional place to eat, food service and ambiance was honestly unbeatable! Will definitely make a trip back to The Ritz Cafe! ❤️

We had to wait 30 minutes for our table. The pasta, which was supposed to be in red sauce, was just boiled with raw tomatoes and lacked any flavour or proper preparation. There was hair in the water, and the chicken patty was undercooked and raw. Please look into the food quality and hygiene.

Google
Awesome little place in downtown Northport. The drinks and food and service were perfect. The restaurant is small and comfortable and seem like they were regular customers and the staff/owners who really took care of people. There was a nice acoustic guitar player who was an excellent entertainer, and the sound was also at the perfect level, not too loud.

Went on New Year's Eve. We shared Coconut Shrimp for a appetizer, was fine. I had Chicken Franciase (photo, I like lots of pepper). It was very good. My wife had Seafood Fra Diavolo. She said it was good, could have been a little spicier. Had Key Lime Pie for dessert and that was excellent, nice and tart.

Disappointed . We arrived at 7for our res hostess said it would be a 1/2 hr or so wait they’re really busy. I say we have a res for 7 her reply while laughing we can’t do that. We don’t have that table for you I said OK I understood it was restaurant week we stood in doorway waiting. 35 sat at table 15 minutes later waitress shows up not very pleasant got our food around 8.20 Food was OK but I was hungry so ate it. check my phone there an email from OpenTable about me being a no-show for my reservation. The hostess was nearby and I asked why she said I was a no show she said who cares and was very dismissive and when I explained that it goes against me, she came up with a Story about the tables being split, and open table doesn’t allow you to split tables. the waitress asked was everything OK and I said I tried to find out why your staff member said I didn’t show up for my reservation. I tried explaining that it goes against you when you’re no call no shows on OpenTable. The person sitting next to me had overheard the conversation and chimed in saying it happened to her I was a no call no show and I was banned off OpenTable so really you should have your staff member correct that.she did say she would talk to the hostess about it. I got my dessert. My husband did not get his dessert. We got the special Bill was placed on the side of the table. I was told she had to spend 20 minutes on the phone with OpenTable trying to sort this out with a lot of attitude at no point did a manager come over and apologize did they make any compensation for their complete mess up and how they treated us.I usually don’t write reviews negatively because I understand that there could be a lot of things going on a lot of times I just forget to write reviews, but I do go to a different restaurant every week so I have a ton of eating out experience.spent 1am to 6 am throwing up

Yelp
I really don't like to write a review if I don't have anything great to say but since I posted some pics I'll continue with my thoughts. This is a small 10 table restaurant with a large bar, both could use an update. Don't get me wrong it's not a dump or dive it's just as it's always been, unimpressive. Our service was adequate but the server seemed angry not sure why it's just how our table of four felt about her. The food was okay nothing memorable just ok. I could tell many short cuts were taken in food prep like using pre-chopped garlic for my dish of angle hair and jumbo shrimp, it was good but under seasoned. One of our orders was from the $20 brunch menu and consisted of eggs over easy with toast again just okay. It came with a basket of baked goods appearing to come from Costco,( Costco's bakery does a nice job so that was okay). and a choice of a brunch cocktail, the Bloody Mary was chosen. The best thing we had was the French onion soup served piping hot with plenty of melted cheese. Would I go back, no but I'm a foodie who's accustomed to better brunch spots in the area. Should you go? Yes sure honestly the food is okay just not outstanding.

Yelp
Service: 10/10 our waitress was unbelievably nice and very attentive! Food: 9/10 I loved my meal. I was very impressed with the portion size of the mussels, especially for an app. Salmon was cooked perfectly, the dill sauce was delicious. My husband had chicken pot pie (not pictured) and he loved it. My martini was yummy also. We took our desserts to-go because we were stuffed. We came for restaurant week and I was pleasantly surprised with the menu they put out; I've found restaurants limit their menu (most often, too limited imo) for restaurant week. We will definitely return to order off the regular menu.

Yelp
The setting was really nice! Beautiful view across the street, but our food was not fresh and honestly , didn't taste good. My son's bacon was literally black. How as a chef aren't embrassed to send food out like that? Menu was pricey but If food is good I don't mind. But this place was a waste of my hard working money.

Yelp
Eh, it really wasn't that good. I enjoy going out for restaurant week. It gives me an opportunity to try new restaurants and their offerings. My friend and I decided to check this place out. For our first course I ordered the lobster and crab bisque. I found it to be very salty! There were generous pieces of crab and lobster but it was still too salty. For my entree I chose the salmon with the dill sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was flavorful, but again salty. Hours later and I'm still downing water because I'm parched. Dessert I ordered apple cake. It was just okay. Service wasn't that great either. Our waitress didn't write anything down when we ordered and had to come back to ask again what was ordered. She didn't come back throughout the meal and getting water refills was a huge challenge. We were also charged a fee for using a credit card. This wasn't posted anywhere nor was it mentioned by our waitress. I don't recommend this place at all.

Had an amazing time here and enjoyed the tilapia Piccata with some amazing company! Our server and the owner were very nice

Yelp
Worst service ever! Upon arrival, the staff already looked annoyed and we were rudely seated at our table we had reserved. Took 30 minutes to get service and another 30 minutes to get drinks. I mean how hard is it to pour a glass of wine. Ordered water for the kids and after another 30 minutes requested waters at the bar to which the bartender scowled at me and went and told the waitress to bring water over. Saw them huddled in a corner all disgruntled and complaining before just grabbing a couple glasses of water. Since it took 60 minutes to get 2 waters, we decided to go somewhere else for food. Now that I'm reading how sub par the food is, I'm happy they offered horrific service so we didn't end up paying for overpriced crap.

Yelp
After 20 minutes of being completely ignored, we walked out. No one ever came over to offer us water or even acknowledge we were there. It seems like a "locals" place and if they don't know you, they don't serve you. All we had to do was walk outside and there were plenty of other restaurants next door. What an atrocious way to do business!

Yelp
Not sure why I didn't go 5 stars to begin with. When you're not sure where you want to eat or what you want to eat, but you're tired of being disappointed, go to the Ritz. You will find something you've never had before that is well worth trying, the place is just overall great. And when you're done you can go for a nice stroll around town and the harbor.

Yelp
Enjoyed the Mussels Gorgozola. Service was terrific! Waitresses recommended flourless chocolate dessert it was fantastic!

Yelp
We have ate lunch here several times over the last few years. Looks like this will be the last. Sat for 15 minutes after ordering iced tea and water before we received our drinks. House salad was greens and red onion only. Balsamic vinaigrette tasted like straight vinegar. Tuna melts has American cheese slices that did not look or taste melted. Fries were cold, in fact all the hot food was served cold. Had to wait so long for bill, we had to stand up to finally pay and leave. Burger was asked to be cooked medium and came out medium rare.

Yelp
Recently moved to the area and wanted to try one of the many restaurants in Northport. Several people recommended this one so we tried. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer. It was okay. Tasted like it came out of a frozen bag from Costco. I ordered seafood Fra Diablo but was told they could prepare it less spicy or even no spice with marinara sauce. The spice level was fine, but the seafood was tiny tasteless scallops and shrimp. Not impressed. My husband had angel hair pasta with shrimp and broccoli. It had absolutely no flavor. Didn't taste garlic or really anything at all. Waitress seemed surprised that we didn't want to take the leftovers home. With so many choices for dinner, we will not be back. Luckily, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Engeman Theater was very good!

Yelp
We stumbled upon Ritz Cafe unexpectedly. Headed to the area for a spontaneous bite but all our places had long wait times but we walked further down by the park and there was Ritz cafe. From the outside you might be hesitant but once you walk in you are greeted by smiles and a warm welcome from the staff. I should mention we did check the reviews which gave us more confidence. Sort of like a cheers vibe. Everyone seemed to know someone there. Surprisingly I didn't take pictures of the food as I was enjoying time with the family but take my word on this one. We ordered the below for a group of 4 Shrimp cocktail - 5/5 Coconut shrimp 5/5 Mozzarella sticks 3/5 Chicken wings 4/5 Lunch Rigatoni pasta 5/5 Rigatoni pasta with grilled chicken 5/5 Jumbo steak burger 4.5/5 Definitely makes our list as a place to come back too.

Yelp
swordfish dish was awesome//tried many other dishes all good/wait staff miserable/depressed/and act like they hate their job/ they should remember they are the host for the dining experience and should smile or make small talk or suggestions, this goes a long way. we have had different waitresses and all lack warmth and service attitude. Rosie from the jetsons showed more interest when she served George and she was a robot...for some crazy reason we will go back again...waitresses BEWARE!!!! lol.

Yelp
Great Food, Great Service, Great Prices! We Had 9 People in for Brunch on a very Busy Sunday Morning..... The Staff is Gracious and Very Efficient! I highly recommend this Place!

Yelp
Ritz Cafe is a lovely restaurant overlooking Northport harbor and Cow harbor park. I would say it has a classy casual touch frequented by many middle aged locals. We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable. It's been about 4 years since we ate dinner here and I remember having an enjoyable time. We came on a Sunday evening and were very lucky to be seated at the last table for two that was at the window. I will warn you that the seats by the window are very tight and you will get a bump or two but watching the sun set tonight was worth it. Immediately scored points with us by serving bread ( unfortunately not warm), roasted garlic, dipping oil and butter. Nice touch. Cocktails were delivered and they were made to perfection. My favorite still is the pear martini, bartender is awesome! We started with the Ceasar salad for two which was fresh, tasty and perfect portion size to share. When our meals arrived they were served pipping hot, that is a big deal to me! Thank you. My talipia piccata was loaded with flavor and a generous serving. My husband felt the same about his skirt steak. We really love the mash potatoes too. Thank you very much to the Ritz staff, because of all your efforts we had a perfect meal. After dinner we took a stroll in the safe beautiful park admiring the water and boats. The sunset was amazing. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood hangout at 11 am on a Sunday morning when we were starving and trying to impress my daughter who was visiting from NYC. I had the sesame crusted ahi tuna without the bun or wasabi sauce. I'm a healthy freak. Daughter had the eggs with salmon and buffed bf had the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on the side. I'm rubbing off on him after 7 years. Lol Service was good and prices were reasonable considering he paid. Lol. I probably would come here all the time if I lived in Northport. Yelp was down for a few hours this morning or I would have checked in and written this review earlier. At least I took 3 food pix! Do I get a prize?

Yelp
The ambience is fantastic overlooking the village park. Chef Nando prepared a fantastic meal for us. I had a sushi grade yellow-fin tuna that was prepared to perfection. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fluke franchaise. The portions were generous and satisfying. The wait staff were pleasant and very attentive to our needs. Our meal was completed with a shared slice of delicious key lime pie. This is a definite must try location.

Yelp
Very good food - standouts are the calamari, eggplant rollatini apps and Caesar salad, linguini w clam sauce and salmon mains. Room is a bit small and dominated by a large bar, so things may get loud depending on the clientele imbibing bar-side. We like to sit in one of the 4 tables in the window, with views on Northport park and the setting sun. Waitresses are sweethearts and bartender knows how to pour potent drinks and generous wine pours. As one of the waitresses once said about the wine pours: "We don't kid around here".

Hailey H.

Yelp
The service was great. Came in for Father's Day and the waitress was very pleasing. Explained everything and was very fresh and good. I got steak and mash potatoes topped with onion rings that was delicious. Ate the whole thing!

Madison L.

Yelp
Where to begin..called and made a reservation but took us over an hour to actually be seated. Then another 30+ minutes to receive our appetizers, which we immediately ordered upon being seated. Place is not that big, but with limited help and a tiny kitchen every single table we were seated near either complained or had to call the waitress over to see what the holdup was. Waitress never came over to see how we were doing, never even came by our area consistently. Place had a very strong chlorine smell, dirty napkins littered the floor. Not the cleanest place. While I understand it was a "busy" night since the theater let out, it was not overly crowded by any means so you would expect they would be able to handle all their tables. They clearly can't handle the amount of tables they have in the restaurant after our wait for appetizers, our entrees took equally as long. The food itself was just OK- pretty standard fare, an expansive menu with lots of specials but overall food was nothing to write home about. If it was, I would consider giving them another chance. But the mediocre food was the final straw, everything was a little bland, or burnt, or simply not cooked right. Shrimp were half-peeled, some with the shell still on. At that point, it was close to two hours after our initial reservation so we all gobbled what we could. Bread itself was stale, soggy. Drinks flat and water not refilled. Waitress and hostess were very sweet, clearly overworked. The manager was not at the restaurant when we inquired. But overall management at this place is severely lacking and not functional- no one offered us a round of drinks, or a free appetizer, or simply a heartfelt apology. Things happen- tables take too long, a late dinner rush- but the lack of managerial handling when you know a party has been waiting so long to sit and eat is kind of unacceptable. We really wanted to give this place a shot, but unfortunately we won't be returning.

Yelp
Ritz is a great local pub/restaurant overlooking Northport Harbor and was recommended for lunch by a local shopkeeper. Clean, friendly atmosphere. Very nice bar also if you are waiting for a table or just want to stop in for a drink. There are a wide selection of menu items to suit anyone's taste. There are also 10 dollar lunch specials. I enjoyed the linguini with white clam sauce, from the 10 dollar lunch menu, and it was simply delicious. My wife enjoyed the grilled chicken on focaccia bread, another good choice. Our apple pie dessert was delicious and the coffee was hot and fresh. I've walked by Ritz many times and never noticed it. I am happy it was recommended to us and will certainly return. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by, you will be glad you did just as I was!

Yelp
The food is always great here. I am not a regular but I come here several times a year for over 30 years. Look at the picture & you can see it should be 4-5 stars. Get very full on the weekends. Nice & quiet during the week.

Rita C.

Yelp
Yummy! We haven't been at the Ritz in awhile but all dinners were delicious as always. The Skirt steak, the shell steak, pork schnitzel and my go to that is always delicious the Caesar salad and the eggplant rolatini appetizer is sooo good. I must say the mashed potatoes were extra flavorful and creamy. Staff always nice and Joe the owner always accommodating.

Yelp
Expensive but Good food; excellent service. Asked for black tea and got a sad Lipton teabag floating in cup. 25 yrs since a place this nice served teas as an insult. Finally a sad assortment box was brought out.

Maureen O.

Yelp
Happy to find a place to take a reservation. Party of six prior to a show., Everyone enjoyed their meals. Wish we had time for dessert and coffee. Will come back again.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
This place nice I have come here several times when I go to Northport for a show. The food is good and moderate in price. I have had the chicken burger which is excellent. I also had the Salmon with dill which was fresh and cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes and vegis. The menu I is extensive so it can meet many people's tastes. It is not a very big place and many times you can't get a table so reservations are recommended.

Bari G.

Yelp
Although the food was ok, the service was horrible. Sat at the bar for 25 minutes before we were offered a drink. The waitress was the rudest, most miserable person I have encountered when dining out. Never once checked on us or asked if we wanted another drink or dessert. She came to our table right after we paid and told us we had to sit at the bar if we wanted to stay. She didn't approach the other tables, just ours. I finally spoke to the owner who could not have cared less. A real disappointment. Main Street Cafe is definitely the place to go.

Yelp
Decided to take a ride from Mt Sinai, so ended up in Northport. Walked around and decided to stop in to Ritz cafe for a few apps and drinks. So glad we did what a great place. Bartender was so friendly and a great mixologist. Had the oysters Rockefeller which were the freshest we've ever had. The escargot was simply incredible. Can't go wrong here. Will be back real soon.
google avatar

Richard K.

Yelp
Descent food, a bit slow on the service but can some of the prices can don't make sense. A filet mignon for example is $36 which is excessive esp for a place that's not a steak house but then other items are pretty reasonable like a salmon ceasar salad for $21 which is very good. Very extensive selection. For some weird reason, they have a huge specials list which is mostly a repeat of what they already have on their menu.

Yelp
We had dinner at Ritz Cade tonight it was delicious we loved the appetizers and all the main dishes service was great our waitress was unbelievable she moved us to a bigger table once the biggerr table became available highly recommend trying the restaurant very cozy ambiance

Yelp
I came here for lunch with my mom and sister between errands. We wanted something semi nice but semi casual, a place where we could get good food in a laid back environment. After debating with my teenage sister as to what her frail young body could handle, we finally agreed on the Ritz. I grew up with the Ritz in my town but never actually ate a meal until now. The Ritz is small but has plenty of bar seats and some booths and high tables aligning the windows and walls. Not a huge list of tap beers but plenty of bottled beers and cocktails available. The menu is huge and hard to choose from. The specials page alone had my brain reeling. There are plenty of options depending what you are in the mood for. I decided to go with one of the specials, a personal crock pot of chili with cheddar cheese & red onions + a tortilla twill. My sister got a pasta and my mom went with a nice steak salad. We also ordered mozzarella sticks to start. Mozzarella sticks were gooey, marinara well seasoned - can't really go wrong with a fried stick of cheese. My chili was surprisingly excellent! It had an awesome kick of heat, a nice mix of spices and the cheese topping was super thick & melty. The red onion was a necessary fresh taste that really made each bite. While the crock was smaller than expected, I was quite full and realized how hearty the actual chili was. Paired with a few Coronas, this made for a perfect late lunch. My family was happy with their meals as well - both were huge potions & my sisters pasta was steaming hot. I would definitely stop back in here for a meal or a drink. Our waitress was extremely friendly and provided on point service. Price was beyond reasonable for what we got. Bonus: It has a lovely view down in Northport Village by the park/water! You have got to love a classic like the Ritz.

Yelp
I had a horrible experience here. I tried to order a burger with no cheese, and specifically asked for no cheese. The burger came over 45 mins later (after I sat with an empty beer for over 20 mins) with cheese on it. All this was understandable, I've had my order come with cheese countless times, dairy allergies are hard for people to grasp and they were busy. I asked for the burger to be re-done, and she assured me it would be. When the burger came back 2 minutes later with the cheese scraped off and bits still on there I was none too pleased. If folks are willing to lie to your face about what they are doing with your food, pro tip: DO NOT EAT IT. You don't know what else they did to it. When I sent it back and declined anything else I am fairly sure I heard them shouting curses about me in the back (someone in the kitchen shouted "F*** you!") and the staff never really apologized and seemed to be in a rush to get rid of us. Not sure how this place is still open.

Yelp
OMG what a great place to eat. Service was great and the food as good. Tuna tartare and double cut ahi tuna was delicious. My waitress Lexi was the best!!!!!

Kevin M.

Yelp
Great View, Food, and Service. We had a great view of the Park and the water. The place has great indoor and outdoor seating. I had the seared yellowtail that was amazing and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Okay came from Colorado was in the mood for Mussels .Well I had the Mussels Fra Diavalo made my trip. Along with white castle sliders and a slice of real pizza. The mussels we're so good .I came back for linguine with clam sauce another winner. Next time on Long Island I'll be back .

Jerry L.

Yelp
Great place to eat in the village. Try the duck and a glass of wine. Great service too.

Nick G.

Yelp
My family recently started dining at Ritz Cafe and we will certainly be returning. The staff is always charismatic and personal with us, and the food is both largely portioned and delicious. I'm always wary of ordering sashimi from a place that does not specialize in sushi, but I gave it a shot and their sashimi will 100% have me coming back for more. My family likes to share dishes so everyone can get a taste and I can honestly say not a single thing was less than delicious. You'd be hard-pressed to find a place with such a large menu that can make food this good.
google avatar

Andre L.

Yelp
The place is definitely overcharging for food the lunch menu everything was expensive a salad 11 dollars which is not bad but for meat they charge you 10 extra for pieces of chicken no even a whole filet. I ordered a wedge salad and the amount of dressing in the thing was ridiculous they don't even chop the lettuce so the presentation wasn't good. They don't have kids menu they offer different options but ask the waitress prices because you will be paying 15 plus for a kids lunch !!!! So to me it's a place to never come back.

Marion A.

Yelp
Wonderful food and friendly service. Open until 10 on a Sunday night when other places were closed. Loved the Seafood Fra Diablo.

J. H.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Northport. A little bit of everything on the menu. The food is great and the service is great. I try to eat here whenever I'm in the Village for dinner.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant in Northport Village. The food was not anything special...the escargot was not good, Lobster bisque was decent, and the French onion soup was good. The waitress and service was very nice, I would go back for a drink and appetizer!
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Asked for a pasta with broccoli and shrimp that was a special for the night, WRONG CHOICE! had NO taste. nothing! basically served in the same water it was boiled in. Asked for Pecorino Romaro to add a little taste to it. our waiter response was " I don't even know what that is" that being said. I will not be returning to this place. if i want over price shitty pasta ill be heading to a chain restaurant which I detest.
google avatar

Dani M.

Yelp
The place itself was ok. Food was not good, super salty and dry. The soup was alright and mozzarella sticks were cold. I wouldn't go back again, and supppper slow service was there hour and half for simple food.

Yelp
I went to Ritz Cafe on Memorial Day weekend. My family was very content and happy there. This is why we returned last night. I ordered the thick cut tuna entree. That night I was very ill until the next day. I still feel very sick so I went to Citymd. The doctor told me right away that it was scombroid poisoning. All of my symptoms matched what he showed me. I will not be going back to the Ritz Cafe. I will also be calling them to alert them that they aren't storing their fish properly.

Yelp
I love this place. It's an old place. Lots of old folk. But I specially come here for the tuna tartare. And I get a Jameson and ginger. But that tuna tartare is phenomenal. The chips that come with it are amazingly delicious.

Yelp
We were left to wait outside in the rain when the restaurant was half empty and they chose to sit two people at a 4 person table immediately ahead of us when we were a party of 4 and then told us the restaurant was full.

Yelp
Poor quality appetizer, baked clam was mush in a metal dish. Presentation was awful and the dish looked like an afterthought. Not busy at all but very inattentive wait staff.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Northport. I understand because of covid that people don't work and get paid to stay home but service was awful. Went there after a round of golf and I can't understand why bartenders today are just retired people? What happened to 25 year olds? We couldn't get service to the point where we asked for check and left. Food was good.
