Having picked Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur after having good experiences in other Ritz hotels, I do not recommend this one at all. Especially the executive lounge, it is not worth it. Good things: Rooms are nice Pretty hotel in certain areas Decent choice at breakfast Bad things: Executive lounge issues: no sparkling wine (pretty much the only 5 star hotel that ran out of sparkling wine for the full 5 night duration of our stay), food hit and miss (beef rubbery and chicken curry mainly skin and fat from chicken), deserts not great. Lunch simple small salads and stale sandwiches. In general, it was a waste of money paying for it as the worst lounge in a 5 star hotel i have ever been to. The pool is cold, the kids for once did not want to bother to play in the pool-that is the first. The adult pool was cold too and not really used by many. Taxi dropping us off could not access the road to the hotel, it seems to be one way going out of the hotel. had to get out around the corner and drag our bags on the pavement. On arrival, i found the club lounge a bit dismissive saying we must be in the other section before even asking my name to see. Orange juice at breakfast did not taste fresh and smoothie bar felt like it had syrup added. Omelette very untidy looking and oily. Wake up call teas and coffees tend to be late for some of our party at 7.30 can come at 8am. Sauna and jacuzzi are for 18 and over, our 16yr old was disappointed.

The service has been on the highest level, the rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated in colonial style that I adore. The breakfast had so many wonderful dishes. The location is top as well, literally one minute away from Pavilion. I will be back definitely! The health club was good too, I often encounter problems with how things work in the gym or recovery areas even in 5* hotels but here everything worked perfectly. 💯 Thank you for the best service and care during my stay.

Revisited this staple in Kuala Lumpur after several years; it had undergone some renovation and refurbishment to refresh. The hotel is well maintained and the new standards are commensurate with expectations for this brand. I chose to revisit because of its location in the city and proximity to the Starhill and Pavilion malls with their offerings of restaurants and shops. Arrival and check-in were handled very professionally and warmly - front staff paid great attention to detail and provided good customer service; they are wonderful ambassadors for the establishment. Assigned room required a bit of a hike to the elevators that are located in the original building (check-in is now in what were for the expansive suites) but they did offer to show me (that I declined because of my familiarity with this hotel). Assigned room was of good size and adorned with furnishings that are reflective of the brand - everything looked great. Layout of the bedroom and bathroom were excellent and generous in size. Everything functioned as expected, re: wifi, lighting, temperature control, electrical outlets (plentiful) and TV (but limited channels). Bed was on the "firmer" side but the shower provided good water pressure that I enjoyed. Partook a massage session at the Spa Village; service rendered was mediocre but the facilities are well maintained - and still looks good. Had the opportunity to have breakfast (included) - restaurant offered a good variety of western and local fare but arguably less thanin other establishments I had visited, e.g., St.Regis in KL. Overall, a very comfortable stay that met my expectations.

[PROS] 1. Location: Connected to The Starhill and right by many malls in Bukit Bintang. Fantastic for shopping—and especially if you're tired after a long day and just want to grab dinner nearby. Personally, we especially liked the Eslite bookstore / lifestyle outlets in The Starhill. 2. Service: The staff were always friendly, helpful, and professional. They did their best to honor my request for a quiet room (far from the elevator) and gifted us with a sumptuous chocolate cake and decorations (towel art + rose petals) to commemorate our wedding anniversary. Thank you!🙏 3. Fragrance: The hotel had a lovely vanilla-ish scent throughout that felt inviting and refreshing. [CONS] 1. Food: The buffet breakfast quality was good, but the selection was limited compared to what I’ve found at other 5-star hotels in Malaysia or elsewhere in S E Asia. I also found the dim sum at Luk Yu (in The Starhill, where you can also bill restaurant expenses to your Ritz-Carlton hotel room) quite dull. It tasted like pseudo dim sum made for foreigners. But I suppose it only matters if you’re a connoisseur of Chinese food. P.S.: On the bright side, there are tons of terrific restaurants nearby. E.g., we were floored by Michaelangelo’s (Italian, in Pavilion) and Las Meninas (Spanish, in The Exchange TRX). 2. Pool: The swimming pool water was murky! And the pool was quite small and narrow. 3. Condition: My hotel room (Executive Deluxe King) felt dated. Some cabinet doors were creaky and the carpet felt old. The soap dispenser wasn’t working and I had to wiggle the bottle out of its holder to get to the soap. 4. Sound proofing: The windows in my room weren’t sealed well. As a result, the sound of wind + traffic hum below were always audible. It’s not particularly loud, but still it detracts from the sense of peace and quiet. [OVERALL] In sum, I was slightly disappointed with my hotel stay. It wasn’t as “lux” as I thought a Ritz-Carlton would/should be. But I suppose there’s a reason why the price point here is distinctly lower than virtually any other Ritz-Carlton in the world (with the exception of perhaps a few in China). To be fair, it’s a very good and nice hotel—and I’m sure that if I’d provided them with all this feedback during my stay, they’d have fixed it to the best of their abilities. It’s just that for the price (~RM880/night in late July), I could have gotten a plusher overall experience elsewhere at a comparable or even lower price.

Very Disappointed - Not Worthy of the Ritz-Carlton Brand I intentionally chose The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur to begin our family vacation, expecting the exceptional service the RC brand is known for. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations, to the point where I deeply regret not choosing another hotel. Despite confirming early arrival after a night flight, our room wasn’t ready until 2 PM, which disrupted our entire day’s plans. Check-in lacked the usual welcome drink (only served after asking), no staff escorted us to the room, and no Elite Member welcome amenities were prepared. The room itself was disappointing: not properly cleaned (hairs on the carpet and in the bathroom), windows were filthy, and no evening turndown service was provided. Paintings were removed, leaving holes in the wall, and there were loud water noises in the suite’s master bedroom. We had looked forward to the well-promoted spa, but even by 11:30 AM the steam room was off and the sauna barely warm, completely unusable. While some staff were kind, especially in the spa and pool area, the overall experience was far from the high standard I associate with the RC brand. To make matters worse, front desk staff refused to provide contact details for any senior manager despite multiple requests, a concerning approach to guest feedback. I’ve always held Ritz-Carlton in the highest regard, but this stay has truly shaken my confidence in the brand. For the service (or lack thereof) we received, the experience was simply not worth it.

As an elite Marriott Bonvoy member, I had high expectations for The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, my recent stay was deeply disappointing from start to finish. Despite completing my check-in via the mobile app in advance, I was told upon arrival that my 3-bedroom suite—the highest category in the hotel—was not ready. What should have been a 3:00 PM check-in turned into a frustrating wait until 5:30 PM. There was little to no proactive communication from the staff during this delay, leaving us uncertain and inconvenienced. During the stay, I encountered multiple occasions where I was unable to reach guest services at all. The suite itself was worn out, with outdated furnishings and, most frustratingly, poor air conditioning. When I raised the issue, maintenance staff confirmed the air conditioning was indeed not functioning properly. However, I was informed that it could not be fixed that day as they needed to wait for an external contractor. The only solution offered was a portable air cooler—one that did not even work. For a brand that prides itself on impeccable service and comfort, this was a complete letdown. The lack of urgency, poor communication, and failure to meet even basic comfort standards are unacceptable—especially for a hotel carrying the Ritz-Carlton name. I left feeling that my loyalty and expectations were disregarded, and I will not be returning to this property anytime soon.

Dear Mr. Tea,||Congratulations on running such a well-oiled operation. Your hotel truly lives up to the Ritz-Carlton name—renowned for its ultimate luxury and unparalleled service.||While the hotel’s prime location—just a short walk from the KL CBD and Bukit Bintang—is a great advantage, what truly stood out for my wife and me was the out-of-this-world service we received from every single staff member we encountered. Their warmth, professionalism, and genuine care were exceptional. There are simply no words to describe the effort they made to ensure we were looked after at every moment of the day.||In particular, I would like to commend Nay Tun, Komang M, and Masum Rana (Mushroom). These individuals went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their dedication and attention to detail did not go unnoticed—they continuously adapted to our needs and ensured we had a seamless and memorable experience. These are the people who truly make a hotel—not just the bricks and mortar. Please pass on our sincere gratitude to them.||Thanks again for a brilliant stay. The room looked amazing, the bathroom was luxurious and spacious, and all of it was backed by outstanding and genuine service. Because of your team, we will definitely return. They are true ambassadors of Malaysian hospitality and made us—and every guest—feel incredibly special.||Warm regards,

Beamer L

Aside from the well done bathroom, the room feels a bit dated and rather small despite having the “larger guest room” already. The club level service is excellent though and we made good use of the lounge; staff were all courteous, wonderful, and some very friendly. We also got asked a 2pm late checkout proactively. My only notable complaint is the $100 luxury credit. I was told it’d apply to the spa when I booked over the phone, but apparently the spa here is “third party” and not eligible. At check-in, they neglected to mention this.

Yelp
I booked a lovely suite here for my best friend's wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful! I stayed for 10 nights, and it cost just under $900--a great deal for such a luxurious 5-star hotel. The suite was immaculate, and I especially loved the modern design of the bathroom. The breakfast was impressive, offering authentic Malaysian dishes alongside a small selection of American options. A charming touch was the daily note cards with quotes and chocolates, which made the stay feel extra special. However, I did find the staff to be less friendly and accommodating than expected, which was a bit disappointing. Highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
The Good ? LOCATION - 5/5 Located at the back of Bukit Bintang Walk (extremely chaotic and busy street). Super convenient, walk to Bukit Bintang Walk via the indoor connected hallway between the hotel and Starhill mall. I like it that we would not be slammed with people in front of the hotel while waiting for our private hire transports. The area around the hotel was quiet and peaceful compared to those hotels off Bukit Bintang Walk. The Bad? SERVICE 2/5 Super mediocre and was shocked this property is a Ritz-Carlton. I emailed the concierge weeks before our visit, told them it was a weekend trip to celebrate our sis' birthday. The head concierge replied my email and asked what I wanted in the most condescending way. Again, shocked that this was the head concierge representing the Ritz-Carlton. I then replied that when a certain Conrad knew a trip was for my birthday, the concierge there made suggestions of where I could eat and what to do. Even suggested to prepare me a small cake. The same concierge then "suggested" a list of fine restaurants with a number of restaurants located inside the hotel. It was clearly a "cut & paste" effort on their part, since the "list" mentioned I had asked them to suggest a few bars, which I did not. So "luckily" they tried to put in an effort to do something nice. After we checked in and arrived at the suite, we saw staffs inside our suite. It was weird for us to walk into the suite with the staffs trying to blow balloons and decorate the dining room area. On the table was also a very very tiny cake which was poorly made. Still, for that effort, I bumped the service rating from a 0 to 2. It was almost unbearable knowing the Ritz-Carlton in Kuala Lumpur was more like a 3-4 star property. SUITE 3/5 The suite was humongous! There was a dining area, a living room, a kitchen (with refrigerator, dish washer, microwave, oven and stove. The appliances were very mid), two bedrooms, three bathrooms and one study room. The is a powder room outside the master bathroom. Dented trash bin in the kitchen, damaged mirror, the door knobs in the closets were all crookedly assembled and in bad shaped, with the furnishings looked so old throughout the suite. The entire suite desperately in need of an overhaul. A major overhaul! Again, we were shocked this was a Ritz-Carlton property. So that was my take of our weekend stay at the Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur! Extremely disappointing!

Yelp
It was a beautiful hotel and the staff were amazing. I was more bothered by the Marriott rewards program and how if you don't book on my website anymore this state doesn't count as one of your nights even though you paid the property money.

Yelp
Welcome to The Ritz! Absolutely gorgeous stay at this wonderful hotel. The service was impeccable and we were welcomed at every instant. We had chocolates waiting for us in our room, and brownies at the end of each night. The best was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. The bathroom was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. All marble with indulgent toiletries that made me smell of subtle flowers. Each night I had a hot bath with the pink salts. Definitely a must stay place in Kula Lumpur.

Yelp
Traveled alone for 4 nights in September, king bed with club access. I picked the Ritz because it was a good deal for a luxury hotel here (under USD$200/night). The hotel was older compared to others, but I found it to be classic lux and well appointed. The slight premium for lounge access was well worth it. I ate breakfast and dinner here everyday, spending about 8 hrs during the day on tour and exploring the city, but coming back to chill and relax. They had a good spread and choice of foods for a lounge, and service was attentive. Also, since I had booked club access, I received 20% discount off spa service. I was able to get 3 hours of treatment for USD$150. Score. I will say that housekeeping was a little spotty in terms of showing up, once missing morning service and once missing turndown. Overall I am pleased with my choice.

Yelp
we book a huge room on floor 19 it was amazing, luxury - the best hotel room I've been to. Free icy poles at the pool. Free wife free gym the breakfast buffet was out of this world. Lavish, luxurious would and super cheap (I am Aussie and Malaysia is very cheap) would 1000% reccomend

Eric L.

Yelp
Nope. Do not go there. Rented a suite, but was smelling so bad that we asked to be placed into another suite. They agreed, and sprayed perfume everywhere in the new suite before giving us the key to hide the smell. After a few hours, as we expected, the new suite started to become smelly as well. We left the hotel early and they did not even asked why. They know their hotel is crap and they hope people will endure the smell. Very well located though.

Yelp
The Ritz Carlton KL is stylishly appointed hotel, in keeeping with the Ritz Carlton luxury brand. Fresh flowers, rich furnishings and attentive guest services will be hallmarks of your stay. Executive club access was a highlight for me. Offerings included breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea and cocktail hour (paired with food from 6pm). The pastries were a particular standout at all food services. At breakfast (on level 1), the pecan pie was sublimely dense. The breakfast doughnuts, decadent! Likewise, at cocktail hour I was sure to sample each type of carefully constructed cake that was made available. Luckily, the gym is also well appointed. A great facility with modern equipment that is ideal for working off the calories. The hotel room was stylish and spacious and included the most comfortable bed. Of course, this is something that you would expect from a hotel of the caliber. A special thank you to Palerma of the executive lounge. Palerma's pragmatic travel advice, good humour and candour were appreciated.

Yelp
Known locally as "the Obama Hotel", we stayed here twice during a recent trip to Malaysia. The overall stay was good, but the facilities were not exactly ritzy...although the noisy round the clock construction will probably help that situation. We were also turned off by the hotel staff actively scamming guests seeking taxis downstairs. Let them arrange a taxi for you and expect to pay 400% the fair price. Fortunately, we were able to use Uber most of the time. We did enjoy the restaurant Li Yen and received great service from the concierge. Room service was below average. Stayed January 2016, traveled on business

Yelp
After our recent stay at the Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur it would be hard to overstate the warm hospitality and unsurpassed service extended to us. The hotel's location is at once central to restaurants, shopping and attractions, yet on a calm street. The graciousness of the staff, quality of the food and facility pleased at every turn. The ambiance even benefitted from a variety of musical styles performed throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived Segar listened carefully to our requests, responded in every case with multiple clever options and completed each arrangement quickly and professionally. He always followed up to ensure our satisfaction. Anya further anticipated all our needs and made paramount her interest in every aspect of our stay. It was as if we were guests of a familiar host. Her personal touches will remain with us as part of our indelible memories of Malaysian warmth and welcome. Not to be missed!

Yelp
Nice hotel, it is after all a Ritz-Carlton. For some reason I got upgraded to a 3 room suite that has more square feet than my house. The staff is very attentive and respectful and truly make you feel special when you're either on an elevator, in the lobby or coming in the front door. The gym was well equipped and was always clean. A few complaints though: It had a rather limited amount of dinner offerings...especially for the Western traveler. As far as RC's go (I've stayed in 3 now) this one wasn't really on par with other Ritz-Carltons.

Yelp
I like this ritz. It is affordable by American standards. I like how they brought brownies to our room. The Uber always went to the Residences instead of the hotel though. Overall good experience.

Yelp
Coming here for high tea, the setting here is an antique bohemian type which is really nice and cosy. When choosing the type of tea, they will bring out a trolley of tea and allow you to smell the type of tea to know your preference before ordering. The waiter actually asked what type of tea you would like and recommends you the tea accordingly. The tea also has a fire underneath the pot to keep it warm and the attentive waiters comes to check on whether the tea needs refilling. However the high tea set for a 5 star is rather boring and disappointing as they give normal scones which doesn't have a very good texture and just plain old sandwiches and cakes, nothing to differentiate them from the rest. Reservation can be made easily as not many people go there and I would recommend going there only for the tea but not for the pastries.

Samar Z.

Yelp
Stayed at this Ritz and our experience was great, staff was very friendly, room service was excellent, they have a kids room near pool side where you can also book an activity for your kids, but for that prior appointment has to be made mean while the parents can have a good swim or use gym and enjoy their time, food was very good. Over all I would rate this place 5 out of 5.

Joyce W.

Yelp
Place is quite in a center commercial area like other RC hotels. Standard wifi is slow. With the new interior, it's hard to find some facilities.
