"Granted, the location isn't the most convenient to the center of the city, but this five-star Ritz has its appeals: For one, it's on the Marina, which is a nice backdrop for sunset drinks; for two, it's close to Venice, and the only nice hotel option south of Santa Monica; and for three, you can generally get really great deals on rooms, despite all the luxe amenities (pool, gym, spa, et al). It's a great option for visiting grandparents, as there's plenty there and in the surrounding area to keep little ones busy."

We had a great overall experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey. The location is unbeatable—right on the water with beautiful marina views that make for a peaceful and scenic stay. The rooms are slightly dated, but still comfortable and well-maintained. We did run into an issue with valet during our visit, but I have to commend the management team for how they handled it. They were attentive, professional, and truly went out of their way to make things right. That level of care makes a real difference and speaks to the standard you expect from a Ritz-Carlton property. Would definitely stay again—especially for the setting and service.

My ex-wife told me to stay at four seasons. I said: no, I want closer to the ocean. Well, ex or current, one should always listen to the wife. Room with no amenities and small outdated motel type shower. We only got 3 washed out towels and 1 bath robe for 2 people (yes, I know how to call reception, but why do I have to ??) The staff was friendly though. The restaurant was good (the only good part about this hotel) But the after hours room service is basically just burger and fries, no good food available. Only one pool, same for kids and adults. Yes, I should have listened to the ex-wife. I am old enough to remember RC before Marriott acquired them. Sadly its been gradually turning into an "elevated Marriott courtyard"

I honestly can't believe this was a Ritz-Carlton. I’ve stayed at several locations around the world and always associated the name with impeccable service, luxury, and attention to detail. This place? Felt like a basic hotel. The room was shockingly underwhelming with dated furniture, scuffed walls, and a mattress that had clearly given up years ago. The bathroom? Let’s just say the water pressure had two settings: drizzle and firehose. And don’t even get me started on the towels they were thin, and scratchy. I called for room service, and not only was the menu limited to what seemed like reheated cafeteria food, but it also took nearly 90 minutes to arrive. Cold. And bland. And I never got the extra robe I requested. Public areas felt strangely empty and poorly maintained, with worn seating and flickering lights in the hallway. For the price, even if this was a “budget” Ritz, I expected so much more. If I wanted this kind of experience, I could’ve saved a lot of money and stayed at a holiday inn. This hotel is damaging the Ritz-Carlton brand. Will not return. Would not recommend..

Our experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey was truly exceptional. The staff was warm and attentive, and a special thank you to Elizabeth (hostess) for being so welcoming and kind—it made all the difference. The views of the marina were stunning, and our room was elegant, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. We left feeling relaxed and already can’t wait to return.

My husband and I have stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey at least six times, but after our most recent visit, we won’t be returning.||We stayed for two nights—one night booked with points and the other using an Amex free night certificate. As Titanium members, we contacted the hotel ahead of time to link the reservations and requested a quiet, high-floor room that wasn’t adjoining. This wasn’t a random ask—on a previous stay at this same property, we were placed in an adjoining room and kept awake all night by a crying baby. It completely ruined our sleep, so we tried to avoid a repeat of that experience.||At check-in, we found out they now charge a $40 per night “resort fee,” which includes credits you can use on things like dining or pickleball. But during our stay, pickleball wasn’t even available. Combined with the $100 Amex credit, it felt like we were being funneled into eating on property, rather than enjoying LA’s amazing food scene. The restaurant, Cast and Plow, is fine—but the prices are steep, and being forced to dine there to “use up” credits made the whole experience feel restrictive and frustrating.||When we checked out and were already en route to the airport, we realized one of our resort fee credits hadn’t been applied. I contacted the hotel and got no response for days. Eventually, someone named Steven from Finance replied—but he kept sending the same generic message, showing zero interest in resolving the issue or acknowledging our loyalty as Titanium members. We had to dispute the charge with Amex just to get it corrected.||Was it just $40? Sure. But it was the principle. We were charged for a fee we didn’t get the full value of, and the lack of care or accountability from the hotel made it worse.||Other issues during our stay included:||A leaky sink in the bathroom||Missing robes in the room||Our room was never cleaned||After we called about it, housekeeping came up three separate times—right when we were trying to shower—even though we asked them to wait||We’ve had better experiences at mid-tier hotels. For a Ritz-Carlton, this stay missed the mark in too many ways. There are plenty of excellent hotels in LA, and we’ll be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

We loved our stay here. The club level is great, the spa is perfect, the pool area is lively, the bikes are a good option, and everyone is super friendly. The location right next to the marina was very convenient. Venice Beach and Santa Monica are very close by bike or car.

I recently stayed at this facility and must say this is one of the worst Ritz Carlton I have every stayed at. The rooms are outdated, the mattresses were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. Having outdated rooms is not the big issues, the service and uncomfortable beds is what really made this hotel one of the worst stays. I previously had stayed the residence inn at the other side of the marina, and had an excellent stay and everything was new and fresh. even their service there was excellent. I would stay away from this place!!

Google
The marina views from the room are some of the best views I’ve ever seen. I could stay on the balcony forever. The hotel overall is very beautiful, charming, and walking distance to a nice local restaurant. There is a beautiful walkway where you can breathe in the fresh air and take a gander at all the boats. Parking is only valet, like most other Ritz properties. The hotel has nice perks such as a complimentary drink at a nightly happy hour to meet other guests, or simply bring your complimentary cocktail back to your room. Room service delivery was incredibly kind, personable, greeted us by name, and even interacted with our baby. I highly recommend splurging for the one-bedroom suite if you have kids, as it is basically two rooms! My only qualm with our stay was the check out process / administration. We purchased the suite celebration package, which came with a nightly F&B credit. At checkout, I flagged that it wasn’t included in our portfolio. The attendant then only applied one night’s credit. I contacted customer service after we left to get the additional credits, to which they incorrectly stated it was only a 1x/stay credit. I had to take a screenshot of their website, which showed it was a nightly credit. Only then was I issued a refund for the overpayment. When staying at such a luxury resort, I don’t want to have to feel like I’m fighting with customer service to get what I paid for. I do hope they have stepped up their game, because the hotel itself is a bucket list hotel!

Yelp
This hotel is old and it does show in the appearance of the room. The service, however, is excellent. The guy who checked us in was very friendly. He walked us through all the benefits included in our Amex FHR booking. It was a smooth check in process. The room was huge. The view was stunning. It was overlooking the marina. When we got to the room, there was a plate of goodies, which was much appreciated. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was just standard with a bathtub, no separate shower. The toiletries were okay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
So it started off pretty amazing. I booked through my Business AMEX Platinum Card with Fine Hotels and Resorts, because of the perks you get. Free credit for breakfast daily, usually a spa credit (this place DID NOT have that, which is unusual), Check in 12:00, Check out 4:00, upgrade etc etc. I pay enough to have my own business that these are the few perks! Waited more than 30 minutes to check in on a Thursday at 2:00pm. Chystine Wesson checked me in. Polite, sweet, and turns out she's the Front Desk Manager. Perk!.....?.... NOPE! But i'll get to that by the end. Usually when you book FHR, you get concierge service, with someone reaching out to you to ask you about your needs, and will sometimes precheck you in for an upgraded room (since you pay for it!) No one got a hold of me, so when I received a check in text from Marriot Bonvoy, I took advantage of PAYING $500 MORE FOR A CLUB LEVEL ROOM, on top of WHAT I ALREADY PAID AND BOOKED THROUGH FHR. But...when i checked in, Crystine says "well, you didn't book your club level with FHR", and I said "I booked my $3000 reservation with FHR and upgraded and PAID MORE for a club room. That my folks is where she has serious issues with providing great service at a hotel that has ALOT OF COMPETITION. By the end of my check-in, she asked me to forward me the FHR reservation to actually give me my FHR perks, and I thought "all great, what amazing service for what I pay for anyway, right?!"....again, i'll get to that by the end. I'd like to say that I had a pretty wonderful time. My niece just moved here to attend LMU, and I came up to wine and dine her, and hang out by the pool, and have her stay with me, and enjoy the club level, and boy did we have fun. We bought a day bed for the day, had wonderful service. Blanca in housekeeping was quite sweet, attentive, and I enjoyed communicating in Spanish with her. Adam at the club lounge was an amazing bartender, as well as the breakfast girls! I did order morning room service to impress my niece, so racked up a nice bill, with service charge AND gratuity already tacked on, as you may guess. So....................................i check out. The nice man at the front desk says "Crystine wrote to not give you FHR rate, and so you just got a $100 credit.". CONTRARY TO WHAT SHE SAID TO ME IN ALL HONESTY. I told him that i'd like to talk to her, and he said 'she's off', but 'i'll make sure she takes care of this BEFORE YOUR AMEX IS CHARGED SO YOU CAN SETTLE IT" Of course I get to San Diego, and it's already charged. No FHR benefits of daily breakfast credit. I sent her an email three times to follow up and she GHOSTED ME. STOPPED COMMUNICATING. SHE GOT HER MONEY, AND ALL GOOD. Of course I called AMEX being the loyal physician I am, and ended up contesting the bill, and got my money back! yes! And by the way, AMEX platinum cards said that this specific location has problems with fine hotels and resorts...THEY EVEN CALLED THE RESORT AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. Avoid this place please/ Shame on you, Crystine. You ignored me, ghosted me, and refused to answer the question of 'why are you not honoring FHR rate?" Your company NEVER comped me club level, and you didn't even upgrade my room. So SHAME ON YOU. You do not understand customer service, and probably really do not deserve to be in the position you are in. I will NEVER RETURN TO YOUR PROPERTY, which is unfortunate as my niece is there for at least 4 years, probably longer. See ya!

Yelp
It's not the best and not the worst. It's average. The staffs here are all friendly. My complaint is the door gap. The gap between the door and floor is just too big. You can hear everything that is happening in the hallway. At night, the light shines through the gap. In the morning, you can hear hotel guests leave their rooms, or housekeeper knocking on other doors, talking to each other, vacuuming...etc. Attached a photo of the gap that I am talking about.

Yelp
What a difference 30 days makes. Displaced here by the Palisades Fire, the crew running this stationary cruise ship were kind, compassionate, and flexible to the needs of many who lost their homes. This became my home for 30 days and in the end, it was hard to leave.

Yelp
I stayed here for a couple days for my friend's birthday. When she booked Ritz Carlton you think above and beyond expectations. The staff was amazing, however the hotel rooms and food lacked quality. I did use the fitness center and was pleased with the amount of equipment. We had room service twice once for a snack chicken fingers can't really mess that up and breakfast. The breakfast was not so great. My friend order eggs Benedict and it was hard boiled eggs Benedict. I ordered an omelet it was ok. For the price the food should really strive for better quality. Even the coffee was just ok. The room itself was spacious and the restroom was nice. I just expected more in terms of decor for a Ritz. I felt it was very basic. The hotel lobby was decorated beautifully. I'm not sure I would stay here again based on price to overall experience.

Yelp
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! The whole staff was super attentive from valet to room service staff. I was lucky to catch breakfast at cast and plow before heading home, breakfast was super delicious This hotel is super clean, it's a little bit older but no sign of any weird odors or anything so that was really refreshing. I'll be back soon!

Yelp
Had a great stay at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey. Yes, the rooms are older. You can tell by the doorknobs. It is a great location, very quiet with tons of activities. Great pool, yard games, and pickleball. Great Ritz customer service. I would absolutely stay here again.

Yelp
Its the Ritz, so on this first time stay here for us, you wouldn't expect the very first lobby furnishings you'd see to be a ripped sofa. Noted by my keen eyed wife after checking in at the front desk. I wouldn't have imagined that here, a first impression. Or having to request ice being brought up to our room 4 times ( twice at the front desk/twice by phone). And then, finally, well after midnight. An ice machine in the hallway would have avoided their apparently busy housekeeping. And yes, I'm quite aware of the striking hotel workers all across the LA basin. But despite these negatives, the staff on hand were all quite friendly. And one of the more comfortable hotel beds and pillows we've slept on in sometime. But somehow we expected more from the Ritz-Carlton brand. And I had read other less than favorable reviews by fellow Yelpers. But we were only here for one night and made the best of it. Beautiful view from our 8th floor balcony; including the marina, pool, sports courts, and the surrounding Marina Del Rey area. I'd give this overall experience a 3.5 rating.

Yelp
STAYED ON 1/10/25 AFTER FIRES. DID NOT GIVE US EVEN 5% discount. Rooms run down. Breakfast like in motel 6. Moved to Sofitel Beverly Hills. As perfect as it could get (the service, the ambience, the food) Would not stay in this hotel for free Nina

Yelp
Beautiful views of the Marina and delicious salads served on their patio BUT... oh my: $18 valet parking charge (no street parking available) and the entrees are all $35+. Come when someone else is picking up the tab and you'll love it!

Yelp
Went here spur of the moment just to get out of the house. Sat at the bar for a drink, appetizer and ambiance. While we waited for our frites, we walked the grounds and took advantage of some photo opportunities. The grounds are beautiful, lots of great selfie and picture backgrounds. It's right by the marina, which is accessible from the hotel but you have to have a key card to get back in so be careful not to get locked out. If you do don't fret, you'll just have to walk around to the front of the hotel because the marina is in the back of the hotel. It's well worth it on a beautiful sunny day. Ambiance:10 Food: 9 , but we only had frites Service: 8

Yelp
I hate to give such a low review but we paid for a club level room, and we ate in the club level lobby for two days no problem, we decided to extend our stay and so we ate lunch in the club level, they had multiple breads labeled GF, I even asked the waitress if she was sure this GF she said yes. So I ate them. Ruined our entire night. I was sick and stuck in bed by 8pm. The manager and chef did talk to me after I complained. I was told someone from their insurance department would reach out to me... never happened... I was told they would bring me a GF dinner, never happened. They had the chance to make this mistake right and they didn't. They gave the usual lip service with no follow up. 2k trip for 3 nights to get sick, throw up and be miserable. We came to stay here for the few nights after losing my dad unexpectedly. The highlight of the trip was seeing Montel Williams.

Yelp
I did a staycation here about 2 weeks ago for my 40th birthday and was so pleasantly surprised they put balloons in my room and delivered a delicious slice of birthday cake! Thank you to the team there. It really made my day. Thank you to the team, it made my day extra special.

Yelp
We have been loyal Bonvoy members (previously SPG), for 2 decades! We had a room on the 11th floor (club level). There was a VERY loud fight between 2 people in the hallway just outside of our room. It went on for approx 1.5 hours at MIDNIGHT. We heard the occupant in the room next to us call the front desk. We called the front desk to inquire about a partial refund of points. 4 hours later, we received a call from someone who we assume is in a management position, stating that they did research and found nothing, and offered NOTHING. Not one thing. Basically, calling us liars. Just terrible customer service, and obviously we will not be returning

Yelp
Wonderful hotel. The best, nicest staff. Top notch. Sadly their cafe doesn't always serve the best food but it is never really bad. Room service has always been on point! That burger! Get a room facing the marina if you can. Great view. Fun!

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room had a sliding door that opens out to a small balcony with a partial view of the pool and the marina. I loved that they provided a noise canceling machine in the room. I think that it is needed because you can hear people talking as they walk by the room. The food and drinks were a little on the pricey side but it's the Ritz Carlton so what do you expect. They have this vegan desert called "Vegan for the Season" that is absolutely delicious! It's a mango/peach sorbet with granola crumbles with a mini muffin/cake. The sorbet and crumbles were my favorite. The muffin/cake was too dense for me. The bathroom had diptyque products but I did not like the scent of the body wash (woodsy/forest like smell). Luckily I brought my own body wash. The bathroom was a little on the smaller side. I wish they would've had a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. Overall, I will visit this hotel again.

Yelp
What to expect for a Ritz? I don't believe this location was a true Ritz experience. It had the name of the Ritz but nothing extremely outstanding more than its sister hotels. When checking in an hour early we had to wait for the 2nd room to be ready for adjoining rooms. There's an extensive lobby area and a fireplace to get warm. We had gone to the restaurant area patio which views out to the boats docked. Sat in the table areas to check out the views and some lady said we cannot sit there if we are not ordering anything. Didn't offer to ask if we would like to order anything. She was rude about it and made the start of the check in process terrible. For that I avoided eating at that particular restaurant to take business elsewhere. After check in out bags were brought up with ease. We decided to enjoy the spa since the weather was cold. Enjoyed cocktails which took a very long time to get at the outside bar. One guy in front was literally waiting at least 10 minutes for whatever he was getting where it seemed like there was at least 1 or 2 workers. People at the bar kind of snickered when the person behind me was scoffing at how long it took to get an order. Bartender was nice though and apologized for the long wait. So at least he communicated the downfall there. The pool was also heated to 80 degrees but spa was way warmer for the cold weather - which was a high of 70 but at the time was probably around 65 degrees. The marbled bathroom was nice with the Diptyque toiletries that are more of a full size but if you want to take it you'll have to purchase it for $50 a piece. They have a fancier coffee maker, fridge that requires a key to open, a decent counter space for your "food area." Desk and decor side couch were the normals. They do come in later towards night time to bring in a night cap of a small milk chocolate and dark chocolate squares. Overall experience could have been better and gave it a 3 for the rude lady and this location for not have a wow experience.

Yelp
My otherwise pleasant enough stay was marred by difficulties checking in. I made and pre-paid for my reservation through a credit card travel service which includes some premium benefits. But when I tried to check in, I was told that I would need to produce the physical card because this hotel did not have touchless payment systems. Otherwise, the benefits would not be honored, I would have to cancel the pre-paid reservation, and book a new walk-up reservation. Requiring production of the physical card was not a policy written anywhere I could find. It's 2024, in the post-Covid era. I don't carry many physical cards with me. You're ostensibly a luxury hotel. How on earth do you not have touchless payment systems? Or maybe the Ritz can't afford to update them? But if my local taco truck can do it, why can't the Ritz? I tried reasoning with the staff. This was a pre-paid reservation and that card was the one used to pay for it. My ID matched the name on the reservation. I had the card on my phone. I had the card number memorized. I could (and in fact ultimately did) call the card travel services to have them speak with the manager. All of this was for naught. I tried pointing out that the Marriott app allowed for check in with a mobile key so that I would never even have had to come to the front desk. They replied that they would eventually have come knocking at my door to ask for my physical card. That's utter BS. I would honestly love to hear from other similarly situated guests who have received such a visit from the staff. The most bothersome part here is the absurdity of the situation. There was no such policy on the reservation or in the terms and conditions of the card. I was told at one point this is a "security" matter, but my ID matched and I had the card on my digital wallet, plus the card service itself had verified me when they tried reasoning with the hotel staff. And then that nonsense about knocking on the door after check in to request a physical card? As the saying goes, don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. I will say that the hotel did give some of the minor benefits and at a later time, a different front desk staff member authorized a $100 credit, and I am grateful to her for that. Besides the nonsense at check in, my interactions with the rest of the staff (including the bar and restaurant) were good. So based on this overall experience, I believe 3 stars is absolutely a fair rating.

Yelp
Okay full disclosure. We love having a glass of excellent wine and an appetizer in a posh setting -- so the Ritz is a perfect setting and even better at Christmas. We came at 6:30 on a Saturday and got choice seating in front of the fire. Our server was very attentive and made us feel special. We had a lovely Cab and delicious charcuterie plate. Yes, it's a bit pricey but you go for the ambiance and to feel special. Tip: to avoid the valet park across the street in the public lot.

Yelp
Lovely view, wish they'd bring back the chocolate cake tho that thing was bussin They charge a $40 destination fee per night, similar to a lot of Vegas' resort fees just FYI

Yelp
The staff was great and greeted us as soon as we arrived. Everyone working there was very helpful and willing. It's valet parking only which was $55 I believe. The view from our room was really nice and it had a tiny balcony area to stand outside. The rooms are a little out dated but it was clean and the bed was really comfortable. Cast and plow- we made a reservation for the restaurant inside the hotel as soon as we checked in. The food was really good and the service was great. Our waitress was extremely cheery which was a little much but she was very sweet so I do appreciate that. My favorite items were the wagyu cheeseburger and chicken sandwich, both very good and worth the $30. Bar- There was two seats by the fireplace inside which were very cozy and we enjoyed very much! The inside and outside are just as great but a glass of wine and whiskey by the fire always hits differently I'd say.

Yelp
Very nice not a top tier ritz Carlton but a very good one. Spa is adorable and I had one of my best facials ever there though amenities are average. Gym is cute not big again it's all ritz level but not a top tier ritz. Friendly courteous staff and beautiful views from all parts of hotel

Yelp
From the moment you pull up this place proves why it's known for its customer service. Every individual from Valets to the front desk were very pleasant, helpful, and assisted with anything we needed. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, with a large glass backed bar and lovey seating throughout. Which makes this place perfect for any occasion....even just a meet up with friends at the bar. Views from this place (we had the 7th floor) are stunning. The marina at night is breathtaking with all the boats land their lighting. Our room was very clean, and we were greated with a fresh bowl of assorted fruits (apple, oranges, grapes, bananas) such a lovely hotel. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Very good location. As long as you get an odd numbered room (not sure if those are more) then face the pool and Marina. Even numbers face the parking lot and garage. Beds are super comfy and the service from the staff is exceptional. Just a couple of negatives. As most high end places you have to call down for ice. I hate doing this because I feel like I'm bugging them. Once they sent me 2 buckets at once. Which was nice but ice melts fast here. Plug ins for electronics are not convenient at all. Hope you have a 10 foot cord or else you won't have your phone on your night stand. Mini bar fridge is empty (covid is over right?) Only streaming service is Netflix. Which is to bad because then wifi was awesome. Cheers

Yelp
The marina is just outside the lobby double glass doors. Just smelling the fresh sea air makes me feel happy and guilty that I'm here at 10 am on a Wednesday when I should be doing a million other things required of me as a wife, mother (of kids, dogs & chickens) and writer. Oh hell I deserve it! Just wish this place had more light and energy inside. It's a bit dreary thus the 3 stars. Also they don't offer food service in the lobby which is ridiculous since the restaurant is just yards and a wave away. But all in all, I will return here again. Chao mein!

Yelp
Underwhelming experience for a 5 star Ritz hotel. This was my first time at a Ritz hotel and I expected more. The staff/service were great from the valet, housekeeping, room service and restaurant EXCEPT from the front desk which is ironic considering that's the first/last interactions at the hotel. I booked via Amex FHR and during both check in and check out, it felt like I had to beg/remind the front desk staff of the FHR program benefits. None of the benefits were explained during check in, in fact, they weren't even mentioned. I've never book a FHR before so it would have been helpful for the front desk rep to explain them without me having to ask him about them. Then at check out, they didn't apply any of the credits and I had to again inquire about the credits. If you don't want to participate in the FHR program, just tell Amex that. We had breakfast in the restaurant and it was $7 for the coffee pot - didn't realize they charged for coffee. The towels in the room were not great quality, the pool had better towels. A couple of the hand towels/wash clothes were stained and the bath towels were worn out. Hot tub/pool could have been maintained better. Leaves and other debris on the chairs, in the pool and hot tub.

Yelp
Had a great stay here recently. Room was spacious and comfortable. Loved that our room opened to a private balcony. Gym was great! Enjoyed the spa service and amenities. Pool area was relaxing. Dinner by the fireplace at the Cast and Plow restaurant overlooking the Marina was nice and romantic. I had a memorable stay. Thanks Chris *hearts*

Yelp
Cleaning staff stole from my room! While I really wanted to enjoy my stay at this hotel, I am very concerned about the fact that my purse and wallet were stolen from my LOCKED hotel room during my stay with an AirTag in them, taken to the hotel's laundry facilities, and the situation then minimized and swept under the rug by the hotel. The hotel at first acted helpful, but once it was clear that the laundry team was responsible, the hotel refused to assist further and distanced themselves as far as possible. More than $1k of valuables were stolen from my locked room, a major security concern to be sure. This calls into question the culpability and involvement of hotel staff in the scheme. The investigation into this matter is ongoing but I want to warn future guests- lock all items and valuables in your room, even if the room is locked! To the hotel, I wish you had taken more responsibility or even attempted to make this right. I would have expected much more from this chain.

Yelp
Marriott Elite Platinum member/AX Travel Platinum- booked through app. Combined points and cash. Was treated like the Beverly Hillbillies. Two forms of ID, plus card verification. I've traveled the world and stayed at much more prestigious resorts and have never been treated as simply unwelcomed trash. We were due an upgrade, yet downgraded. No minifridge in room, when I requested engineering bring on to the room, it was left in middle of the room. Valet and bellhops were amazing. Housekeeping was phenomenal. The other staff seem to have forgotten their place. The pool and marina were nice, but not spectacular. The whole experience could have been better with the attitudes and direction of the staff. Most likely will not return to this property even though it is central to our build.

Yelp
This review is for the spa. My massage therapist was kind, patient and very thoughtful. A great communicator and did a great job. But some maintenance and cleaning is needed in the shower. The hand spritzer was broken off of the hose. If you turned it on the hose whipped around. It could have hit me if I had come completely into the shower which is also a problem. The door opens inward and it is difficult to get into the shower. There is some staining or maybe just needs cleaning in the shower wall. Not acceptable if you are going to be under the name of Ritz-Carlton

Yelp
The location is amazing - right on the water and walkable to Venice Beach. It's a great option if you are looking to be close to the beach and marina. The rooms are sunny and spacious, and the resort fee comes with a food and beverage credit and complimentary drinks by the pool from 5-6:30 pm. Be sure to request a Marina-side view.

Yelp
If i could give zero stars, i would. Such a disappointing experience at this location. Pulled in around noon to valet my car, the same lady that took my car, brought it back. I intentionally had left my everyday sunglasses near the screen in my car. I immediately asked her about my glasses and of course, no action was taken. The management got involved to escalate the matter but of course RITZ CARLTON has had me on ignore since September. Delandria Bullock "tried" assisting me with reimbursement but has been impossible to get a hold of since September. What a disappointment for a reputable hotel like the Ritz to be doing this to a loyal customer!

Yelp
We stayed here for our wedding night. Service is amazing! Everything you would expect from The Ritz. Greeted at the door, bellhop took our bags, all staff was generally super polite and friendly, and the room service was pretty fast. The food we ordered was good, but ordering was confusing at times and inconsistent. We ordered room service for breakfast and lunch. One meal we were charged extra taxes and fees and the other meal we weren't. We booked via AmEx (a gift from a friend) so we paid less than ~$20 for both meals. If we paid more, I would have been upset by the lack of transparency about charges. I agree with others that the rooms are a little outdated. But they're clean and on par with other luxury Marriott experiences (like the JW). Our stay was short, but pleasant. I would come back.

Yelp
I was surprised, and not pleasantly so. The first day here did not feel "Ritzy" at all. Was there a last minute Hotwire deal or something?! When I tried to check in, the computers were down (which the front desk did not handle with much poise), so I headed to the pool while waiting for my room. Good thing I had my swimwear on underneath my dress! As I navigated out to the pool, I was met with a large crowd, screaming children, and pool noodles. Face palm. Am I at the right place?! Did I mention it was packed to the hilt?! And not to sound elitist, but this did not seem like a Ritz-Carlton crowd. Refined, they were not. Store bought snacks were coming out of paper Trader Joe's bags. I'm certain though that the uncouth practice did not cut into the profits that day anyhow, as they were understaffed as it was. They were not staffed enough to handle the needs of the crowd. I would have ordered more rounds had there been the manpower to tend to our needs. Come to find out, many of these pool guests were not hotel guests. They're Venice locals who come to crash the pool with their families. Lovely. This was the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Sunday at the pool was a whole lot more civilized. The crowd was small. The Hotwire deal must've expired. And the Venice locals must've stayed home. It was much more enjoyable on that chill Sunday. And service was more akin to what I have come to expect from a Ritz-Carlton. It's so difficult to rate given the entirely different experiences over the course of one weekend. The room itself was well-appointed. The tv situation screamed for an upgrade; needed to be bigger, nicer, and mounted. The hallways and doors needed some TLC. Given the tawdry Saturday experience, I will not necessarily be rushing to return to the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey. On a positive note, I found a cute bathing suit at the gift shop.

Yelp
I had theeee most amazing staycation here over MDW. The staff was amazing--John (Johnny) at the front desk was super great and accommodating during my stay. My room was on the club level so I was able to utilize the Club Lounge, the staff was super sweet, kind and attentive. Thank you Arely for making a great soda water drink as I didn't feel good during my stay -- Maria is the club lunch was fantastic too. Included with my stay was a bike rental which I did and they had a great map to show where the bike path was accessible which made me feel safe to ride the bike. Absolutely will be back and I highly recommend.

Yelp
We attended a birthday party at the hotel. Great location overlooking the marina. The room where the party was held was bright and roomy enough for the 40 + guests and had a balcony overlooking the ocean and the hotel pool area. One thing I was a surprised by was how the lobby area looked more like a nice generic Marriott (who they are owned by) rather than a luxury hotel entry way. The Mediterranean food buffet offerings were pretty good (pita, lamb, salad) as were the variety of alcoholic beverages offered at the bar. Service from all staff (valet, severs, bartender) was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Good service and clean facilities, but it's still an old hotel for $$$. You're paying for the Ritz brand name, but if you haven't been to a Ritz, here it is... Ritz hotels are like a 3-star hotel with a 5-star price. Wack, am I right? And this goes for almost ALL Ritz hotels. The Good: - Service. Most people are nice - Free water, plenty of towels, free ice water available at the pool - It's much closer to LAX than say, downtown LA, Koreatown, Hollywood. - The on-site restaurant will validate the first 3 hours of parking so it's only $10 flat, but then it's $4/hour thereafter (not sure how much for a full day). The Bad: - Old, small hotel for a Ritz! - Don't be fooled that because it's in Marina Del Rey, you'll have a nice water view. You won't. - The pool is small and the pool bar looks worse than a Best Western. - Small rooms for what you pay. - Cartpet stains - Uncomfortable beds - Self-parking sucks. - Sad location. I don't want to see the backside of old fishing boats from the pool. I want to see the ocean! Why else would you stay here? With old bathrooms, an old desk with bibles inside, small TV, old flooring... If you charge this much, update the hotel. If you don't want to, don't charge $500+/night. Even if work were paying for it, I'd stay elsewhere.

Yelp
unfortunately, this hotel should have the 'ritz carlton' name revoked from its status. while the hotel badly needs a remodel and appears very tired, it's the lack of customer service and TLC that make you feel like your staying in a 2-3 star hotel. the worst part is the management of both the hotel (which is never available and or doesn't return customer calls) and restaurants downstairs that doesn't know how to communicate that it's gonna take 39 minutes for my cocktail to come to me at the restaurant. i still cant figure out why i have to call housekeeping to clean my room every day. absolutely pathetic hotel. feels like the lunatics are running the asylum. on another note, the valet and the concierge floor performed solid customer service. the rest of this property sucked and i strongly recommend not staying here until they renovate this hotel and replace all the management of the hotel and restaurants. its a hard hell no

Yelp
The Ritz-Carlton has always been known for its luxurious accommodations, but my recent stay was beyond impressive. Not only were the lavish decor and impeccable facilities noteworthy, but it was the outstanding service that truly stole the show. From the moment we arrived, Jesus greeted us with genuine warmth and personalized attention. Throughout our stay, he addressed my daughter and me by name, and his attentiveness to detail was remarkable. It was my daughter's 10th birthday celebration, and Jesus made her feel special and kept her smiling throughout our stay. We wanted to write this review to let others know about the exceptional service we received from Jesus during our stay. We truly believe that our experience would not have been as special without his dedication to exceeding our expectations. We can confidently say that Jesus' commitment to excellent guest service is evident in everything he does. If you're looking for an experience that combines unparalleled service with luxurious accommodations, you won't find a better choice than the Ritz-Carlton. Best regards, Kerry

Yelp
My absolute FAVORITE hotel in MDR which never disappoints! Beautifully decorated and wonderfully staffed!! Definitely a 5 star experience! I am sitting outside enjoying the gorgeous weather! Wes checked us in yesterday and made us feel like Marriott VIP's. Our room was beautiful and comfy. They have a mini Nespresso machine in the room which is a much appreciated pool area is a great place to hang out. The 2 not perfect things I would mention... The gym is nice and the machines are okay but need updating and the parking is $46/night which I think should be included with the room fee.

Yelp
There a chef name Melanie. She has the most amazing dishes. I have seen her art and passion for cooking. If you want to ever try some of her cooking she at the ritz Carlton. The amount of passion she has for her job. She is highly recommend her. She definitely deserves a raise without a doubt. One of the amazing chef I know. If the manager sees this please give her a raise is well deserved.

Yelp
Stayed on the concierge level for one night Feb 25 with my husband and 2 children. The staff, hotel, etc was wonderful and it's a really beautiful place. BUT the morning after one night stay I woke up with little bites on my ankle. That afternoon I emailed the hotel, then called the next morning when they turned into welts. We are talking 20+ from the calves down on both legs. I was sent to a "loss prevention" team that then moved me over the week to insurance. I became a number in the system when I was simply try to call and report, with photos, a potential problem. Yesterday I was sent an email from the Marriott insurance team that they didn't find a bugs after their investigation and good luck to me. Not, we are so sorry or any sort of accountability. No offer of a discount, another stay, heck, here's a drink on us at your next stay. Over a week later and the bites are still large, itchy and uncomfortable. I told the person who emailed it was extremely upsetting this level of customer service. I own a business and if something like this happened to a client, we would do everything to rectify. Been staying at Marriotts for 30+ years for business and personal but now, we will be looking elsewhere. Super unimpressed after being a valued customer for years.

Yelp
Stayed five nights here late-August of 2022. One of the only good parts of this hotel is proximity. 10 minutes from LAX. 10 minutes to Santa Monica. It also features amazing room views from Juliet balconies--marina and pool. The lobby, lounge and on-site restaurant (Cast & Plow) feel deservedly upscale. Where this RC suffers the most is in the room. That's where you get the sense of the age of the property. I found dings and stains on the furniture throughout my room, there was some peeling wallpaper, and the king bed was somewhat worn down. Also, when I left my room with my ice bucket to find some ice, my search led me to a "housekeeping only" closet to find an ice machine hidden behind folded-up day beds and carts filled with towels. Worse yet, during the last night of the stay, my door card reader stopped working and I was locked out of my room for an hour as a technician had to take my door plate apart to fix the problem. I expected a lot more for $475 per night.

Yelp
I stayed there this past weekend with my fiancé. I called in advance to let the front desk know that it was our last night together before our wedding. They went all out and upgraded us to a room on the top floor with incredible views and received us with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, macaroons, and a handwritten congratulatory note from the concierge team. That's what I call hospitality! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and we had a wonderful relaxing time :)

Yelp
Very disappointing! Surface cleanliness is key to a great stay at any hotel. This hotel has some major issues with its hygiene. The Marriott standard is carpet cleaning every room once per quarter. Not happening here. Our room and hallway carpet was dank & stained. It was obvious that spot cleaning had not even been attempted. The stains were not new. Bathroom marble is non-reflective and extremely etched. Grout lines are muted. We did switch rooms only due to us having two reservations over a 6 day period. I did not complain in person. The second room was without visual stains but still mated. It was apparent that this room had not been cleaned recently either. Our bill came to $4200 over 6 days. I've stayed in Fairfield Inns that are better taken care of. The single star is for the staff who were ever so attentive.

Yelp
CATFISH RITZ CARLTON. Ritz in name only. Without the branded name you wouldn't think you were at the real 5 stars deal. When you pull in, there's bird sh*t all over their metal roof and it looks like drabby Hilton. No wow factor at all from the moment we pulled up and to getting to our room. Our check-in person had low energy and it was a basic experience over a small counter area. Despite booking via AMEX fine hotels, they didn't give us an upgrade and made us feel weird for wanting the late check-out option... Dude, why do you think we booked via AMEX if we didn't want the late check-out option on a Sunday? He didn't offer us the Lounge access. I had to ask for it and he got the prices mixed up. Sigh. Anyway, shrugging off the bad first impression, so off we go to our room and wow... this ain't no Shutters on the beach (our favorite hotel in Santa Monica) Our $638+ hotel room was DATED and tiny. I've stayed in better Hiltons and Marriott. They desperately need an update and shouldn't be charging these delusional rates for 3-3.5 stars experience. The bathroom was certainly not impressive, no soaking tub like Shutters. I'm sure it was nice 20 years ago. Bathroom products were tiny sized and also not as bougie as Shutters but I did appreciate that it was "organic" products. Staying here makes me miss Shutters so much. I would pack up right now and go over there if I could. The one redeeming thing about this janky ass room is the view. It's nice to see the pool and have partial Marina/boat view. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 stars is for the view and the location and the fact that it's not a terrible experience. Room service was fast and a nice feature to have during our staycation. AC sounds run very loud. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone unless you booked using points like we did. No way would I ever pay cash for a stay this like and if I did I would ask for a partial refund.
