The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park

The hotel looked like an older apartment building from the outside. The room was a typical two double bed. No refrigerator, no coffee maker. Drab furniture. I'm not looking for expensive chic, but for $550 per night I thought it would've been nicer. The bathroom was really nice. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel called 2 West. The food was good. Drinks were weak and cost $15 each. Look it wasn't a horrible stay, but like I mentioned, for that price I would expect better. Thankfully the night was expensed with my company.

I stayed here for a friend's wedding held at this location. Easy enough to get to by car. Parking from 8pm Friday to 2am Sunday cost $140. Not my favorite thing to spend money on. I forgot a pair of shoes in my car. It took 4 phone calls and over 2 hours to get those. My wife almost missed her pictures as she was in the wedding party and they were her shoes. Nothing too impressive about the hotel unfortunately. The rooms were comparable to any other mid range hotel I've ever stayed in. The wedding itself was great none the less!

The amenities are wonderful. The staff was so considerate and attentive. It was a great place to begin and end each day during our visit to the city celebrating our daughter's 16th Birthday! Our flight was cancelled due to the "blizzard" and the hotel was a wonderfully warm place to hang out, visit with friends and enjoy the snowy day. Thank you so much!

Overall, I would give this place 4 stars. The hotel in general is just a hotel - a very clean and spacious hotel, to be sure, but still a hotel. Nothing special there (at least not R-C special). However, some of the rooms in this particular location have fantastic views! Direct lines to the statue of liberty, complete with in-room telescopes (I cannot tell you the number of times I've sat in a hotel room and thought, "this space could really use a telescope"). The service here is great, as expected, and the hotel is not too far from trains to get you to the rest of Manhattan.

Ritz is worth the price. Five star service - very detail oriented. the clubroom staff was also very attentive and friendly. The breakfast options alone are worth the club room pricing compared to paying restaurant prices. Umbrellas were provided when it rained and all first floor staff was knowledgeable and helpful with navigating through the city. The hotel is in close location to the beautiful Trinity Church. There's a running path out front for an early morning or late night exercise session. Its a great stay for people who want to selectively visit the busier time square and tourist spots. It's also scenic with its lake front proximity, makes for great night views - romantic or just enjoying the moment. The subway entrance is close for when you are ready to jump into the NYC lifestyle. FiDi "Financial District" is a cleaner choice for visiting the city. Check it out.

A very nice Ritz. Great service. Beautiful location. The Club is very nice. The restaurant at the hotel is very good too. So fun to have a view of the Statue of Liberty and a telescope for the kiddo to see it in our room. The rooms are very well appointed.

I attending an event in one of their ballrooms, it was a great space for banquets and receptions with views of the Statue of Liberty. My only complaint was the guys at the front entrance; they weren't very welcoming and I thought they were a bit rude/snotty, just my observation. However the staff who helped set up the space and clean up the ballroom were very attentive and friendly. Their facilities were very clean and spotless, so they definitely work hard to maintain the place cause it shows.

I came here and was expecting a ton and when I got here I was not disappointed. The concierge was very nice and helpful, told me the best places to go. The food tastes great and the servers were very nice. I'm staying in a room with a view of the statue of liberty and shortly learned how great the telescope was and fell in love with the Ritz Carlton.

5 Stars and beyond! Found and booked through Priceline. Amazing rate, well below the advertised rate for this amazing hotel. I was a little hesitant about the type of room we would get considering it was so inexpensive and through Priceline. We were greeted as we got out of our taxi. The doorman took our bags and brought them to reception. We were greeted warmly and check in was a breeze. We were given our room keys for a sixth floor room. What was behind the door was not expected. A beautiful sun filled room with an amazing view of the harbor, the Verrazano bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Spectacular! The room had a telescope which worked perfectly and the distance was crazy! The king sized bed was beyond perfect. The room was spotless, the bathroom was a good size with separate shower and tub. Loved the comfy bathrobes. Very impressive. Good sized lighted closet with iron and mirrors on both doors. Housekeeping knocked on our door within minutes offering to get us ice and as much bottled water as we needed and offered a turndown service. In the morning there was coffee service downstairs in the lobby free of charge. Very impressed with this amazing hotel. I will be back and will recommend it to everyone. Thank you to Katia and Richard who made our stay very pleasant and memorable. A+++ service.

I love the Wagner around Christmas time! The decorations, the food, and the customer service are always top notch. They are a great venue for corporate events since they have nearby coat check areas, bathrooms, and open bar service available. They're also walking distance from public transit options and you really can't beat the view at night!

Night getaway from home; I have been returning to this hotel for a few times now primarily because of the service and the view. This is one of a few hotels left in NYC that give "old school" vibe with attentive services and customer comes first. I received room upgrade because it was close to the holiday without charge. It was a pleasant experience. Check in time was 3pm, I was there at 11ish and the front desk registered me without issue (side note; there's complimentary coffee at hotel restaurant from 5:30am - 11am). So I was able to check in very early. Check out was a breeze, I just have front desk my room key and was confirm the hotel has my email address; that was it; less than 2 minutes.

My wife and I were supposed to get married at this hotel in April 2020. Fast forward 2 years and we are out tens of thousands of dollars while the hotel remains closed. The parent company Urban Commons refuses to engage and has been impossible to get ahold of in the matter. We are deeply disappointed and have had to hire an attorney in hopes of getting our money back.

I had to leave the Wagner because: BUGS. The manager and I disagree over what kind of bugs they were, but I'll post the pictures here for you to decide. I was in room 407 and was about to get into bed to sleep when I thought to take a look. I pulled back the sheets and saw a small reddish bug and it was moving. Called front desk, more than half an hour later the manager calls and sends up two guys to take a look. I show them the pictures I took and one of them agrees it's a bed bug. Then I was moved to 927 and I looked there too, sure enough, bug! Manager denied they were bed bugs. They refunded the room and offered me a suite, I said, "no thanks," and got the hell out of there and looked for a new hotel in the middle of the night. Nice place but (bed) bugs is a deal breaker for me.

In 1879, Thomas Edison pioneered the development of the first electric lightbulb, a moment that would forever set humanity on a course of innovation and convenience. 140 years later, I had the pleasure of staying at the Wagner, New York City's least advanced hotel. The concept of hotels has existed across millennia. In the early 2000s, innovative and capricious market leaders like the prestigious Holiday Inn Express and the Motel 6 asked a daunting question - "What if we put electrical outlets beside the bed?" Indeed, staying at the Hampton Inn or the Courtyard by Marriott will find this innovation, a nightstand-adjacent electrical outlet or a USB port. No such thinking is welcome at The Wagner at the Battery. There is no need to plug in a phone. A laptop. Medical devices that help keep you alive. Instead, you get a lamp with a cheap looking light dimmer that is greasy and has a glaring red light to keep you company at night. If you stretch to plug in any device to the nearest wall outlet a few feet away, be prepared for your electronics to turn off as soon as the main light switch is switched to the off position. That takes me to today. I checked in at 1pm for 4 hours of precious sleep before an early morning flight at JFK. Unable to plug anything in because of the aforementioned lack of outlets, I turn to the wall outlet a few feet away. In order to sleep, I turn off the light. All electronics go dead. I call the front desk. They are delightful, a very kind and patient gentleman named Aziz and his electrician show up at 2am. We have a meeting. We resolve the issue. Apparently one plug socket is tied to the light switch. The lamp was plugged into the wrong one when I came into the room. I'm too tired to understand. We fix the problem. Instead of going to sleep like I paid for with a $300 room, I am perturbed enough to write this review. This is SUCH a minor detail that could have been so easily solved by management. However because of bad design I wasn't able to get the basic value at the hotel and get to sleep. And after all, isn't that the point? Wagner, you took my hundreds of dollars. I got an education in basic household electric wiring. I got to meet some very nice people. I didn't get sleep. I didn't get value. And I didn't get a basic quality hotel room I might find at the Red Roof Inn. The Wagner. Room is clean, bed comfy. Shower big. Cute telescope to see the statue of Libs in room 420. But it's a good thing she's not staying at the Wagner. Because if she were, her light of liberty would not work.

My zero-star stay at the "five-star" (it isn't) Wagner Hotel... They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Well, I've posted 33 of them, so that must equate to a 33,000 word review. Please, look for yourself. This hotel is a disaster- loud, dirty, understaffed, and poorly managed. Is this what a $2,000/night hotel suite looks like to you?? There is also no spa, a sad gym, no pool, a shuttered sky deck, an abysmal, overpriced lobby bar, and no amenities at the hotel whatsoever. You get a room, and that's it. This hotel isn't even a shadow of the Ritz-Carlton it once was. The food is terrible, housekeeping is lazy, and The Wagner has completely stripped the hotel of its amenities. There is also no mini bar. Please be warned, this is a Marriott-level hotel masquerading as a "luxury" experience on their w. In my days here, I have witnessed employees walk ahead of guests. Employees do not know the names of the guests. Managers make excuses, and on and on. Again, please take a look at the photos from my stay and see for yourself! I hope you choose to stay elsewhere when in New York City. I know I certainly will next time!

What an amazing hotel. Top notch for a great nightly rate. Close to Wall Street and extremely amazing service - everything from bell man, front desk, to restaurant employees, and turn down service. What an incredible gem. My flight arrived early - 7am and for $50 more they let me into my room early. What a steal!!! Nothing is more perfect after suffering a missed flight and a red-eye flight with a guy next to us who had extreme flying anxiety.

The room I am staying in does not have a good view.I haven't seen a 5 star rated hotel that didn't does not have an in room mini refrigerator, On asking I was told that they do not provide in room refrigerators anymore. once you step out of the hotel you see the world trade center in front of you, that I think is a pro if you are a tourist. It is well located, closer to wall street and brooklyn bridge but nothing else was 5 star like.

This is listed as a 5-star hotel on many travel sites. They mostly live up to that rating, though there are a few issues they should work out. Great service generally makes up for anything that is broken or missing. They do overcharge (i.e. without telling you in advance), so beware. Check-in was fast and easy. My room came with free Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi wasn't too hard to figure out, but instructions would have helped save a few minutes. The room didn't come with a fridge, which I would expect to be standard for this type of hotel, but I was able to get one set up through concierge. The fridge was delivered within 10 minutes. Their phones have specific buttons for various departments (housekeeping, room service, etc.). The buttons always resulted in a busy tone, however, so I had to go down to the lobby to find out how to call them. They told me I had to dial 0 for the operator and ask for a specific department/function, which was easy enough, but it's another small annoyance. Their site didn't have any info on their spa. When I called at around 11 pm (after solving the phone issue), they said the relevant people had left for the day. When I called the next day (at 11 am, hoping to book something at 12), they said you need to book at least 3 hours in advance, so I ended up visiting a different massage place. The thermostat worked well, but adjusted temps slowly. The toilet ended up getting clogged once. They fixed it quickly (within about 15 minutes). One travel site described the rooms as having sound-proofing. During my stay, I heard a few muffled noises from the hallway, but nothing from adjacent rooms. Ordered room service - a bottle of champagne one night, and breakfast the next. Both were delivered quickly. They charged $150 for the champagne, plus an 18% mandatory tip. 18% seems a little high for just sending up a bottle; further, Wine.com lists the same champagne for about $20. Breakfast was delicious, and more reasonably priced. They charged me an additional $60 for no apparent reason. I called twice to get an itemized receipt, which they never sent me.

Our family spent last night at The Wagner and it was far better than expected. They automatically upgraded our room to include a view of the Statue of Liberty, made sure our kids knew how to use the telescope in the room - helped us decide where to get dinner - checked in with our kids after the tour of Ellis Island etc etc. Special thanks to Kevin the Bellman! The room was clean, elegant and spacious. Would suggest upgrading plugs to include USB by the beds. For the budget minded, get breakfast (if not included in your room package) around the corner at Inatteso Cafe or at West Bank Gourmet market (to go), for ¼ the cost. You'll save $100 and eat great food. All in all, you cannot beat The Wagner for location to Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge etc. - we would definitely come back in a heartbeat because of the amazing staff. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel. Comfortable beds, and kind staff. Love the location and area in the financial district. Clean and calmer than normal manhattan. Easy to get your car in and out of here too if you're bringing one in!

BEWARE: this hotel charges nightly resort fee of $50 even when booked on Priceline or one of the other online booking services.

Loved everything about this hotel! Service, Cleanliness, location! Literally perfect view of the Statue of Liberty ! Easy to go to Brookfield , Oculus ,9/11 memorial. Stone street is very close to go to (bar hop with food options). Also the employees at the hotel are all so joyful and friendly!

Absolutely furious. Was told one thing by the reception lady last night and then was told that was a lie this morning. I was told I could keep my Harbor view room for my second reservation and just add a roll away bed for my guest. I asked about a charge or if there would be any problems and was told not only would it be ok but there would be no charge. When I called front desk to ask for the roll away, I was informed it would be $65 extra dollars and basically told I was out of luck. I now have to check out and switch to a double room. This is an absolute shame and a scam by this hotel to gauge me for more money. Let's talk about room service as well. They charge $6 to deliver and then add an automatic 18% tip. Without mentioning this to me, I provided the lady with a $10 tip to bring me a piece of cheesecake and milk for $49 !! I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL. I will be leaving this review on every website I can find.

My girlfriends and i stayed at the Wagner over the weekend and we had such a wonderful experience. After staying at the Peninsula Hotel last year i honestly was not very excited to stay at the Wagner but let me tell you the team and the Wagner far superseded my expectations!!! They accommodated us in every need we had. The hotel was clean. Temperature was perfect. And the food was great!!! Loved the location as well. Coffee shop. Italian restaurant. Supermarket and wine shop very close by. The cherry on top was that we had planned to walk the Brooklyn bridge on our last day there (coming from California) we were not prepared but the wonderful doorman pulled out 4 beautiful umbrellas for us and the rain didnt ruin our day! If i could give the Wagner more stars i would!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at this Hotel for business but I would definitely come back here to stay again. I LOVED the location. We had a fabulous view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The service was great, the rooms were nice and everyone was so helpful. The Hotel smelled really nice as well. We could walk up to incredible shopping, the 911 Memorial and the One World Tower which I would highly suggest doing. Easy to get Cabs (but the Ubers were better!) to get to other areas. It's right on the water so you can walk up or down on the water pathways.

"Outstanding restaurant and 5 star amenities" That quote comes directly from their website. Please don't be duped by that! When this was the Ritz Carlton it was a five-star hotel, it's lucky to be a three star hotel right now. Their restaurant is less than outstanding, we were down there for appetizers and cocktails and the flat bread that we got was no better than a Di Giorno. Their website is correct about one thing, if you are on the water side there are really great views. There is no spa! And I do mean no spa! The workout facilities are pretty minimal and unstaffed. But why would you as minimal as it is? We stayed in a corner suite overlooking the water and that part was wonderful but there was a recirculating toilet in the main bedroom bathroom that after talking to at least three managers and the office manager and others has yet to be fixed, 5 days into our one week stay, and cannot be remedied according to the one manager, Oxanna. So beware, this is room 317 and apparently every other room on the same water line. But hey, while you're not getting sleep, you do have the water view. The room service staff is excellent and so friendly but the food is not top-notch. Housekeeping is on their game as well. This review isn't meant to gripe about anything, as are all my yelp reviews, but it is meant to help others make informed choices. I also think this needs to be brought to the attention of corporate of which I will be writing a letter. Note: They did offer to move us to a room exactly like our room a few floors up, day 4 into our stay, but it's on the same water line so didn't see the point. Right?! Unless, could it really be just this room? Hmmmm....

Location was perfect for downtown. Hate when staff tries to up-charge me for everything. I would give it a 4.5 if that was an option, but not a 5.

Great service. Staff are friendly and helpful! Room is beautiful and it is at an amazing location! Fantastic view of the World Trade Center and the most beautiful park directly across the street! Amazing!!! The turn down service is great, good food, the products in the bathroom are amazing. Overall fantastic stay!!!

Great location, service, do the right thing attitude. Rooms are great, price is right, they really want you to enjoy your stay. The bartenders make very nice drinks, good spot to start the night off. O recall, A+, we will stay here again.

PROS: The location of the hotel is superb The lobby had beautiful deep purple orchids. Our room had an amazing view of lady liberty. Tasteful décor Good breakfast Best door man EVER! CONS: The hotel didn't advise us of the streets closing down prior to our attempt to get to the airport. *See last entry above (John saved the day) He walked down the street and got us a car so we would make our flight. Give this guy a raise, he is well worth it....and, handsome as heck.

We had a very nice stay. The price was affordable (by New York standards) and the staff was extremely helpful. Our room was quite spacious (again, by New York standards). The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and well-kept. Quite frankly, I'm surprised at some of these negative reviews. We had no complaints. We did not visit the restaurant, because -- it's New York! Why eat at the hotel? :)

We loved this hotel. Great service, especially the concierge. The room was exceptionally spacious with a great view, including the Statue of Liberty. Very, very clean. Comfy beds. Huge bathroom - we appreciated the separate space for the toilet. The location is great because there are so many places to visit and eat nearby (the whole Winter Garden area has anything you could want.) I highly recommend this place.

My company went to a training symposium at the Wagner Hotel this past weekend. We stayed the night at the hotel so we could be there Sunday morning bright and early for the lectures. We all valeted our cars. On Sunday at four o'clock we went to the front desk to get our cars brought around so that we could go home. One of my employees was having a problem getting her car brought around. They first said that the keys were misplaced and that they were "searching the maids." An hour later, they said that they thought that they "found the car" at a garage a couple of blocks away. What!!!!! She was given a bottle of wine and a Diet Coke while she was waiting. At 6pm, TWO HOURS after giving the front desk the valet ticket, they finally pulled her car around. They told her that she would not have to pay for the parking, however none of us paid for the parking as the laser company was taking care of that for all of the symposium attendees. The very least that they should have done was to comp the room that she stayed in the night before. They REFUSED! What kind of customer service was that? I will never stay at this hotel again, and I will tell everyone what our crazy experience was. I would have NEVER allowed that person to leave my business without making things right. I advised them to call the police to report their car missing, but they were nice and just sat there for two hours waiting on their lost car.

This place was on Priceline as a 5 star hotel, but it is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The hotel says that it has a spa, but there is no spa. There is a hotel balcony, yet you're not allowed to access it. The Liberty King Size room has no view of the statue of Liberty, it actually faces the opposite direction into the city. There is no mini refrigerator in the room. When I called to ask why the roof top balcony was locked, I got 2 completely different answers. Everything here is subpar at best. Just take a look at the posted pictures, the rooms are dirty and within 2 hours of being in the room, housekeeping was knocking on the door asking if we needed turn down service. It was our first and only night.

Beware: The Hotel is charging a resort fee - nearly $50 incl. tax per night - that is not being mentioned ahead of your stay. The breakfast is a disgrace for a 5-star hotel. At $45 incl.tax an embarrassment of two eggs and stale toast with cheap jam and butter.

For average middle class families - this hotel caters to the affluent. Let me explain: my spouse asked me to pick a hotel for his business trip. I went along for fun. I did a search and found the Wagner was cheaper and sounded a lot nicer than the Fairmont Marriott in Fi Di, where we usually stay. The Wagner, upon first glance, was VERY posh with very friendly doorman and staff. However, upon staying for 2 WEEKS, I've changed my mind. If you don't have fancy furs and expensive clothes, tip very well, then the staff tends to ignore you. BREAKFAST IS ON AVERAGE $80 for 2 people, everyday, for an AVERAGE meal. The other hotels will at least give a complimentary breakfast. And THE PRICE CHANGES EVERYDAY - YOU ARE NOT LOCKED IN A RATE YOU BOOKED - ours went from $159 to $350 a night, depending on the day PLUS A $40 A DAY "RESORT FEE"! What resort?? Do yourself a favor - find a nice hotel that doesn't scam and overcharge you. Not worth it. No free fridge or coffee makers in room either. But they had "turndown service". Room is bigger than most NYC hotels - thus 2 stars instead of one.

We stayed here for my daughter's wedding at Battery Gardens in the Statue of Liberty Suite. The service is 5 star.David at the desk was efficient and I had requested an early check in. The maid was friendly and efficient. The gym was very nice and clean. We ate breakfast twice at the restaurant which was very good and the servers were pleasant. We ordered room service for lunch and it was good. Overall a good experience for everyone getting ready for the big day!!! Thank you very much the Wagner Hotel!!!

We come here about every two weeks. Rooms are very spacious, whatever you ask for they find for you. Pillows, fan, whatever. If you ask for bottled water they give you five of them. They have a wonderful lounge that you can go for refreshments - cookies, wine, soda, water, tea, coffee, beer, nuts, candy...and I believe they offer hot food too. We enjoy the breakfast as it just makes it easier on us. SOOOO much more affordable than the many other high end hotels we have stayed at. Our suite is 850 square feet with two bathrooms, full living room with desk, nice little kitchen area. We had one issue with the AC and they came up right away to replace filters for us. We love it.

They took my favorite hotel in NYC, the Battery Park Ritz Carlton, and turned it into a tacky piece of junk. Gone is the understated luxury of a Ritz Carlton and welcome tacky extra fees, gross air freshener and piped in muzak. The once beautiful and spacious rooms are now tacky crapholes. The worst part is, I THOUGHT I was booking a room at the Ritz Carlton because google sneakily and nefariously sends you to there anyway. Imagine my dismay when I walked in.

I booked through Expedia and it never said there was a $46 fee that went along with the booking but we came to find out the $46 fee was for the Wi-Fi which I've never used, Nor did I need. Also it was for the bottled water that was not in the room. I was less than impressed with the room, not to mention there was not a refrigerator in the room. Apparently it was taken out so you have an empty cabinet. When I went to check out it seemed like I was annoying the gentleman at the front desk by asking for a receipt. Then he couldn't explain what the $46 charge was for. At the end of the day there was nicer hotels and nicer locations right around $100 a night on the weekend and I would not recommend this place to stay at with all the options in the city. I really can't understand why you would sneak in these other charges and not just expose them on Expedia. In closing I would never want to argue with people during my time off and to have argue during check out absolutely killed my stay there I will tell you this the door men were exceptionally nice but that would never be a reason why I choose a hotel and I would never stay at the Wagner ever again.

I like the hotel, the rooms are nice and the food is good. However, we booked the room at a good rate and found out at check out that there is a $48 Facility Fee for the water in the room and the gym (which we didn't use). Wish they would have mentioned it when we booked.

I stayed at the Wagner with my family for vacation and it is definitely a five-star hotel. It is in a great location close to the ferries that take you to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Also close to the 9/11 museum and World Trade Center. It is located in a family-friendly location where it is safe. The staff was very friendly especially Mohamed and Brian who work at the front desk. The rooms are clean and spacious. I would definitely suggest staying here when you come to NYC.

Came here for drinks after work. The hotel front desk manager showed us around and was very helpful. I host clients in the city frequently and never knew such a gem hotel was downtown! The restaurant was great, perfect ambiance. The desk staff were so pleasant (very unfamiliar thing for New York) that I will be recommending this hotel to my clients. Thank you.

THE SERVICE has been absolutely amazing, by every single person that I have encountered. I've paid $1400 a night to stay at the four seasons so many times in NYC, and literally I can't tell the difference between there or staying here for 7-nearly 10 times less. Every single person from the doorman to the front desk staff ensuring that I have a bottle of water without me even having to ask every time to the housekeeping crew that has been absolutely amazing. I've lived in hotels, literally lived out of hotels for the past 10 years since I travel so much, and this place has really impressed me. I highly recommend it for the service, the great bathtub I am actually soaking in as I type this, and the location is ON POINT. I will DEFINITELY STAY HERE again. Probably my favorite hotel in the city now, because of service alone! Thanks everyone - y'all have been so great. Also, Wagner hotel...you should complement your entire staff. Past two days have been amazing.
