I was originally supposed to stay here for Coachella in 2020, but...well, a pandemic kinda crushed that idea. Then I thought about it more and it just didn't seem like the greatest idea from a logistical perspective to stay here for Coachella. But I figured for a one-day birthday trip? Probably worth giving it a shot.
First things first, the thing that stood out to me the most was the top-notch service that I received here. Perhaps it is a function of being a Ritz-Carlton and an elevated service experience. But the minute I stepped onsite all the way up to when I left, they treated me like I was the most important person in the world. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I'm talking EVERYONE...the bellmen, front desk, housekeeping. It felt like I had been there before, even though it was my first time. Nothing but great things to say about the staff here. Not just that, but they left a nice welcome dessert for my birthday, which was absolutely fantastic.
Anyways, I got upgraded to a terrace firepit, which meant I had to be on the ground floor. But it also meant I had a very large area to lounge outside, as it opened to the entire resort property. Very nice for stretching out and relaxing! Aside from that, the room was pretty nice. This definitely ain't the Courtyard! Not the greatest room in the world, but certainly had the feel of luxury. Everything was well-kept and in order.
Location is isolated, obviously on purpose. If you walk the grounds and get to the edge of the property, you'll have an amazing view of the Coachella Valley. I never knew the valley sparkled like this! Aside from that, the Ritz is designed to be self-contained. If you want to get anywhere, you're gonna have to drive.
I wish I had more time to appreciate some of the amenities onsite, But when you're only here for a day, all you can do is just enjoy some of the property before you gotta leave. Thankfully at least with my Ambassador Elite status, I coulda at least enjoy it up to 4 pm.
Parking is also $32/night and there is NO self-parking. Part of why I opted out of staying here for Coachella, even if I was using my points for the stay.
Overall, I have nothing but great things to say about this resort. It is truly top-class and I can see why the Ritz is the top-tier resort for Marriott. Just wish I could've enjoyed it a bit longer.
