The Best Vineyards and Restaurants to Visit in Missouri’s Wine Country | Eater

"A luxury suburban hotel with large rooms, a full-service spa, and polished service that makes it a practical upscale base for exploring nearby wine country. The property's Southern Italian restaurant is notable for a humble standout: a Neapolitan-style Margherita pizza topped with stretchy fior di latte cheese on a pillowy crust." - Meera Nagarajan

"The appeal of staying in a chain hotel, any chain, is a certain consistency, an ability to know what one can expect in advance. If you are visiting a place like Milan, New York, or Tokyo, you may prefer to be surprised by the seemingly endless variety of hotels; you may welcome the unexpected, and relish the satisfaction of seeing how different hotels find unique solutions to the same basic hospitality puzzle — how to make their guests happy." - Tablet Hotels

What a fantastic experience!! This year was my 25th anniversary with my beautiful wife. A couple months ago we celebrated with a European trip but we still wanted to do something on our actual anniversary. We decided to stay a night at the Ritz and enjoy dinner. Upon arriving, this staff was so gracious and all congratulated us on our anniversary. They upgraded our room and provided champagne with a nice note. These little touches went a long way and we were very appreciative. It’s nice to see that kind of hospitality is still around. Thank you to the full staff at Ritz STL. Well done!

My husband and I recently stayed at the St. Louis Ritz to celebrate our 14 year anniversary and between the beautiful aesthetic of the hotel, the legendary Spa and the outstanding staff, our stay was so very beautiful and memorable. We love to travel somewhere new every year for our anniversary and this year the vibe we wanted was more quiet and restful, to enjoy some nice meals and have a slow weekend together and this one was perfect. From the moment we walked in, Faith at Reception greeted us with the friendliest smile and accommodated us right away. Her warmth and positive energy was palpable! A very special thanks to Kadir and Kenna at the front desk, who made our anniversary stay even more special with an elegant room upgrade- an unexpected gift that was so enjoyed and appreciated! When we arrived at our room, we found a handwritten welcome card and chocolate covered strawberries from Terrence at Guest Relations- such a nice detail. Almina was our lovely housekeeper who tended to our room and provided extra tea, water bottles when requested and anticipated our needs and left extra replacements of items we used. Having worked in professional housekeeping myself, I appreciate this part of the hard working staff all the more and recognize that they are the glue that keeps these places together. Thank you to Almina and her colleagues! If you opt to take advantage of the Club Lounge, hopefully you will have the pleasure of having Emma, Suada and Michael as your hosts. They provided excellent hospitality while we enjoyed the lounge. We especially loved the raspberry cheesecake and the breakfast. Emma made my husband a nice Old Fashioned and Michael provided me with a non alcoholic beer, which is a thoughtful detail to have on hand for the sober crowd. Now to the highlight- a SPECIAL shout out to Julia (who welcomed us in with such hospitality) and Tiffany at the Spa!! Wow, there’s a reason this particular Ritz Carlton is so highly ranked in the U.S. for their incredible reputation, skilled therapists and service at the Spa! The spa is sparkling clean, steam room and sauna are relaxing and all amenities are well stocked. But if you are staying here from out of town or even live local- be sure to give yourself or a loved one the gift of the massage of a lifetime from Tiffany Decker! She is a true stand out massage therapist. She is incredibly talented at providing both the strength and stamina required to bring relief to the drudgery of daily pain and tension through her massage. This coupled with her calm, positive energy and intuitive understanding of the inner workings of the mind-body connection made for the most wonderfully healing massage experience we’ve ever had. We’ve had a couples massage at the 5 star Xcaret Arte resort Spa in Mexico, an incredibly, incredibly beautiful eco forward resort. I mean no disrespect to Arte- The surroundings and service were top notch, Ritz-Carlton tier, yet the massage that I received left much to be desired, even with polite feedback and request for variation during the massage. After the experience of my constant deep pain and tension literally melting away layer by layer until I emerged whole and reset after just one appointment with Tiffany (with no need to have to awkwardly request or explain during my massage what most needed attention), I had to write in this review so others may take advantage of this local gem of a professional in this beautiful representation of the Ritz-Carlton standard. This is one you don’t want to overlook!

Stayed here after a soccer game in which it was 36 degrees heavy rain and wind. When we entered the hotel o felt a bit like the opening seen in crazy rich Asians except I could not buy the hotel and we were welcomed with bright warm faces. The room was perfect there is a softness and warmth to the room. We had a king bed and rollaway and there was so much space this did not seem crowded at all. Endless hot water was a bonus. Super quiet. Room service food was yummy and elegant and nice big tv that we could watch a movie on while everyone was nice and warm under the blankets. Just needed a fireplace. 😀Just a soothing overall stay.

When I think “Ritz”, I think luxury. And this hotel never fails to impress. If you are looking for luxury along with a friendly staff, the Ritz is it! We were greeted at check-in by Kenna who actually made a stressful travel day vanish. She was determined to turn our day around and she did so. Our room was spacious, bright and very well appointed. All of our encounters with staff were positive. You cannot start off your day without smiling if you are lucky enough to have Paul as your server. As always, it is “their pleasure” to serve their guests.

I stayed here with my dog last night. Definitely one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. They had balloons in the room for me, room service was very quick. They even had a little bed and water bowl ready for my dog when we got there. I just want to note that Emma was so kind and so helpful with everything. She already had me checked into my room when I got there so I was able to take a nap and then get ready for the event later that night. Then, when I got back from the event, I went downstairs and listened to the live music and ended up dancing with a bunch of people. All of the staff is so friendly and the rooms were very clean. You could tell they wiped the bathroom from ceiling to floor. We will be back in December for another event. Highly highly recommend staying here.

I was looking for my review of the hotel from August last year. I just booked another trip back! And since I did not do a review then, I will do one now. The valet, front desk, dining room staff, and room service… everyone… they all knew customer service and made our stay awesome! The beds and sheets were amazing. I enjoyed being able to watch TV from the tub with the mirror tv. Lol and I highly recommend ordering coffee from room service because it’s incredible. It’s from a coffee a local coffee shop down the road called Kaldi’s Coffee. The Sunday Brunch at their cafe was incredible! Greg in the dining room had us cracking up. I think he may have been the floor manager. And the staff knew we flew in for a P!nk concert and they went out of their way to give us a P!nk things for our room. And we still have them! lol. See you guys again on Oct. 29! Sorry it took me so long to enter a review!!

Google
It is not what you would think of a ritz. There is still work taking place. A lot of the past reviews seem to be recent. My favorite was booking a room, and two request forms sent to me for my arrival time, and when I did arrive the room wasn’t ready which rushed me for time to get to a wedding after driving here four hours. Then we go to leave, and because the room wasn’t ready they forgot to activate the key to get out of the parking garage, so after getting out of my car running back inside, and being offered free parking, which was very sweet but it’s was included in the room so kind of mute. Idk man, save money and stay at their courtyard in Brentwood.

Multiple issues. The bed was covered by a mattress pad that didn’t extend to the bottom of the bed which for a 6’5 foot man is very frustrating and woke me up many times. Valet parking was very disappointing. We called ahead at time before coming down 10-20 minutes before and the car still was not there, and we had to wait up to 15 minutes to have the car. I spoke to the manager who said this is not a typical complaint we receive, must have been just two bad times. Definitely didn’t provide the costumer service I would expect from a nice hotel. Older building with no fans in the restroom. No pool. The positive nice big gym with peloton bikes and spa.

Yelp
So I went to St. Louis on a business trip and we stayed at the Ritz Carlton. It's really nice. They open the doors for you. The sushi bar was absolutely amazing. Oh my gosh it was so good and I had this drink. It was like an old-fashioned but they had a different name. It was really good. Also, my waitress was really nice. It's very clean very Upper echelon. I should say my room. It was great, but it was just you know you know nothing special about it. I was expecting like over the top but maybe my room just wasn't over the top. I was on the 14th floor so I liked that my view was amazing. The staff was amazing. I have one Great is that my tub didn't look clean like I thought it was gonna be like pure white, but it wasn't but I ran a little water over it took a shower. I would like have taken a bath, but I don't have time so it was all in all an good experience. oh also, I had slippers on my bed and this little tray with some chocolates I had I ordered room service. It was OK. It might've been better if I ordered it like at the restaurant, but it was OK. I didn't eat all of it it was just you know, but the sushi bar was absolutely grand

Yelp
This Ritz is the most run down, dingy and dusty Ritz-Carlton I've stayed in, and it definitely needs an upgrade. I'm sure some of the other rooms have better views but ours looked out over the top of an ugly parking garage. The lobby was also a total shitshow over Memorial Day weekend. Last night there was a live band and a wedding reception going on, literally *in* the lobby. The ear-splitting music and crowd were so deafening (again, IN the lobby) that you could hear it several floors up, and drunk people were stumbling around everywhere, including a young woman I witnessed vomiting in the bushes outside. Classy stuff. Who runs this hotel? Definitely not a great representative for the Ritz-Carlton hotel brand (and at $500-600 a night).

Yelp
I was invited here for a Holiday Brunch sponsored by the Humane Society of Missouri. I wanted to go and show my forever support. They do such an incredible work! The Ritz did a wonderful job! The food was good and we were seated by such sweet, kind people. The ballroom was filled with (my people) aka... animal lovers! They did a beautiful presentation that brought me to tears. After the brunch I walked around to see the beautiful Christmas decorations. Santa and Mrs. Santa were there seeing children. I had a great time and grateful to be invited to the brunch. The Ritz is the perfect place to host an event! The ballroom is huge and has a stage and set up for all your needs! They have valet parking too! First class hotel!

Yelp
Ritz Lobby Lounge is one of my favorite not-so-hidden hidden gems in Clayton! The service is always excellent, drinks are amazing, and food is consistently delicious! Plus, it's open daily until midnight!! My can't miss items on the menu: * Spicy Edamame * Oysters * Clayton Roll: Shrimp, Crab, Honey Cream Cheese, Asparagus, Jalapeño, Eel Sauce, Tempura Crunch * Surf & Turf Roll: Beef Tataki, Lobster, Avocado, Black Caviar * Kushiyaki: Lemongrass Beef Skewer, Daikon Relish. Sushi Rice Cocktails: * Arch Angel: Angel's Envy, Jose Cuervo Tradicional, Grand Marnier, Yuzu, Oleo Saccharum, Tea, Pineapple, Hibiscus-Infused Mezcal Float, Clarified * NA: Where The Rivers Run: Lyres Non-Alcoholic Amaro, Passion Fruit, Lemon, Agave, Ginger Beer

Yelp
Spent $30 to uber to the ritz for a drink at 11:00p on a Sunday. The bar doesn't close till 12. They approached us as soon as we sat at the bar and asked what our room number was. As soon as we explained we just came in for a drink they told us that they had already called, last call and that they would not be serving us. They weren't the most polite about it either. That's fine we took our business elsewhere and probably will not be returning.

Yelp
To began were African American upon arrival the young lady offered to park my Tesla she was kind however the other male non African American employee standing near her said he did not carry bags up after we asked him as we were going to stop at the bar before entering our room it was my daughter 23rd birthday and she wanted for the first time a Margarita my Son said that's ok Mom I'll take the bags up I tried to overlook that and move on with the day and the only thing the Ritz Carlton did was apologize and say the employee should of carried our bag. This trip was a complimentary stay after the initial stay last year where we found two open razors in our Mattress. They apologized and offered us another one day stay to use at our leisure to make it right they said. Quality control is responding to my comments but not with truth. I read he said they credited my account they did not they actually took 120.00 off my credit card. To add all the food was cold we contacted the kitchen and asked if our food could be hot. Not once did we receive hot meals so we walked over to 801 Chop House across the street to get a hot meal. The mattress was leaking feathers throughout I was uncomfortable and did not get any sleep. To add, the restroom floor was stained with an orange brownish substance. This was complimentary ? This was making it right after razors were found where my Grandkids were sleeping in the let out sofa during our last stay. This Hotel purposely gave me the complimentary room as I worked in the Hotel industry before Counseling you discard mattresses that leak feathers and no one has addressed it. Nor have they addressed stained flooring? A Mrs. Levine in the Executive department asked me to send in pictures if I had them which I did only for her to stop answering her phone. I have no idea her response as I have not spoken to her since I sent in the photos. I phoned the Hotel and asked for my money back. A hotel of this caliber should not treat people that way they have not credited me anything back in my account no one has communicated anything regarding the stay the least they could have done is responded or made sure we had a decent stay. They are rude and careless that room prior to us arriving should have been looked over by management after housekeeping cleaned it to ensure it was up to par considering razors were found in bed with my Grandkids used razors upon pulling out the sofa bed. Suppose they had laid in the bed. That meant the linen had not been changed if it had a housekeeper would have found the razors. I was a housekeeper years ago so I know protocol. I normally stay at the Four Seasons . I have never had an issue with them ever. I want my money back

Yelp
Excellent. The hotel staff is professional, accommodating and attentive. The room was perfectly appointed and spacious. The room had a decent size balcony with a nice view - day and night. The in room coffee maker made perfect expressos and cappuccino. The bathroom finish was spectacular.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the Spa. I recently celebrated my birthday and wanted a day of relaxation and pampering. The Ritz is the epitome of high quality service. I knew this would be the perfect place to spend my day. I booked my services online and the process was easy and straightforward. I received a confirmation call the day before. I also received a questionnaire regarding my needs during my time. I felt like the team tailored everything especially for me. Upon arrival, Julia got me checked in and settled. The locker room is well appointed with showers, steam room, and sauna. I got changed into my robe and slippers and spent a few minutes in the sauna before my massage. Tiffany was my therapist and I'm looking forward to another appointment with her soon. She listened to my concerns and made note of my problem areas. I prefer a deep tissue massage. Tiffany got the job done! Following my massage, I went back to the locker room while I waited for my next service. I brought a snack along and had it with a complimentary glass of champagne. I also had a few minutes to sit back in the sauna. The dry heat felt wonderful, especially after these frigid temperatures we've been having. Soon after the massage, I met Liz for a body glow scrub. This was an experience that I would recommend. We started with a body brushing removing dead skin and getting to the healthy new skin. The salt scrub was amazing. Working the aromatherapy oil salt into my skin felt fantastic. I went to the showers to rinse the salt and oils off. I returned to the massage room and finished my treatment with a luxurious massage. Following my treatments, I headed to the locker room to shower and dress. Again, they have just about anything you need to return to your day fresh and clean. I had a marvelous experience. The team was so friendly and took excellent care of me during my time. I felt like a queen from start to finish. Definitely going to be a memorable birthday for me.

Yelp
Four nights at this fancy hotel that was chosen by my company's travel portal. No complaints, this is super nice and I was upgraded to a city view room on the 17th floor thanks to my Titanium status with Marriott. Large room, very comfortable and very clean. I had chosen two queen beds and opted not to have the "do not disturb" on the door which meant that not only did housekeeping have the opportunity to reset the room but the evening turndown service stopped by as well. They did a great job resetting and tidying. Great shower with lots of hot water. Comfortable desk and chair for when I wanted to sit for a bit. Nespresso machine made my morning espresso. Other than the parking deck (they either forgot to charge me or comped it), I did not use any of the other services of the hotel. It was a great stay and I will likely be back at this hotel the next time I'm in Saint Louis. [Review 19987 overall - 265 in Missouri - 961 of 2023.]

Yelp
Omelette selection was wonderful with veggie options. Octopus pasta was my favorite with white fish and a light cream sauce sprinkled with garnish. Expresso hot chocolate with raw sugar cubes and marshmallow was fantastic. Service was outstanding and I will be back!

Yelp
Another lovely stay here in St. Louis! Everyone that we interacted with was friendly and helpful. On this trip, we found something unusual in the fridge. After dropping the item off at the front desk, we had a good giggle!

Yelp
Amazing service and Easter Brunch was incredible. A bit pricey and for the price would have thought some basics, Mimosas and Bloody Mary's would have been included. Got surprised when the check came. Will come back for their Sunday Brunch not at Easter.

Amy Z.

Yelp
The stay was horrible. We have stayed thousands of nights with Marriott in recent years, but this is the worst experience ever. We didn't get the right type of room as we booked when we checked in. Then we asked for an extra towel but no response at all. The most ridiculous part happened! The alarm went off mid-night around 1am. We called the front desk and they didn't even say sorry. Our kids were woke up and we had to wait for 15 minutes for an engineering stuff to come and remove the alarm. We could sleep afterwards. Their manager said they could extend our checkout time as compensation and that sounds like a joke! It was a nightmare! We won't choose this hotel anymore!

Yelp
Gorgeous rooms, view and top notch service. It's The Ritz. They live up to their name. Our stay was amazing and 5 star. I look forward to the next visit.

Yelp
I just want to take a moment to praise the waitress Valarie. She was such a delight Saturday 12/14 and was just amazing. She was the most friendly and sweet human and stayed on top of our drinks while we listened to the band.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with great proximity to restaurants. I stayed for a two day work trip and loved it. The room was chic and modern and spotless. The lobby was gorgeous with dark woods and the highlight had to be the lobby bar. Amazing drinks and sushi in the evening made for dinner one night. Would definitely stay here again. Plus - the bathroom mirror had a tv so you could shower and watch!
google avatar

Yelp
Overall, a wonderful experience! Located in the heart of Clayton the location provides easy access to restaurants, museums, malls, etc. Reserved a King Room w/Balcony for 2 nights and enjoyed the stay. I was excited to learn that the Lobby Lounge and In-Room Dining are available until Midnight and the Cigar Lounge, open to guest and members, is available until 1a. Room was very clean and provided ample amenities, including 2 robes, but the coolest thing was the TV in the bathroom mirror. Took me a minute to figure out why there was a remote control in the bathroom, but once I did, wow!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. First class service. Lovely rooms. Fun fun bar. Very accommodating. Expensive but worth it. Honestly can recommend. BTW: nice other restaurants in area to walk to but RC restaurant is tops. Yum.

Yelp
Ugh I loved it here so much my husband had to practically drag me out of the doors, kicking and screaming. Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating but in all seriousness, this place is beautiful. From the second we walked through the front doors to the moment we walked into our room it was stunning. Everything was gorg. The decor in the lobby area was lavish, the guest services check-in guy was friendly and our room was impeccably cleaned. So refreshing to arrive at a pristine hotel free from worries of filth and disease. (looking at you, embassy suites.) We had a nice view of the city of St. Louis from our little balcony and a large space to enjoy our take out meals from Pappy's Smokehouse from a few blocks down, so that made me happy. The bigger the space, the happier I am lol. If you're not enjoying the food around the area (and there are a lot of them) this place has a lot of different options for you to enjoy-- they have two restaurants, in room dining, and a cigar bar and if you go there on a Friday or a Saturday, they have a sushi bar with an impressive menu for you to enjoy. The beds are also extremely soft and comfortable and CLEAN and the room is obviously cared for by their housekeeping. Seriously, you guys do a wonderful job at keeping everything sanitized here! You are very much appreciated. So yeah, if you guys are looking for a CLEAN, refreshing, pretty hotel with good vibes and nice people, definitely stay here.

Payton O.

Yelp
way to prestigious for my liking, does not acknowledge you if you are younger or don't look like you have a million dollars. in the lounge the people working are extremely rude. they have greeted everyone except me and the kids I was with. i stayed with a family I nanny for and still was not acknowledged. they would bring out people who came in after food from the chef without asking and not even say hi to us. just overall hated the experience

Michael B.

Yelp
This Ritz did not live up to my expectations that I have for all Ritz Carlton hotels. The room was a good size so did enjoy that. Upon pulling up, we had to interrupt the valets during their discussion. Took multiple looks with eye contact before anyone came over to our car. I guess us getting our luggage out of the trunk was a sign we were checking in. We received a note on the night before we were checking out letting us know we could reach out with anything during our stay. Were we're going to check out the next morning so seemed a little late. The stain on the curtain honestly looks like blood or feces. We thought the room had been clean before we noticed that. We wanted to have a drink in the lounge downstairs. We opted not to because of the loud music they have, a crowd that resembles a more of a rave, tables covered with empty drinks and people loud and obnoxious. If this is the crowd they want to attract to the hotel, then I need to find a different hotel for the future. Lastly, the smokers like to congregate right outside the front doors. There is nothing more disgusting than either pulling up to the smell of cheap cigarettes or getting some fresh air to only be hit with a wall of second hand smoke. Been to far worse. Just expected so much more.

Yelp
This year I found myself blessed to be in the Ritz Carlton in St. Louis! Soon as you enter the ballroom is brightly lit beautiful Christmas tree lit up from the floor to the ceiling and gorgeous lights flashing all over. In the main lobby you'll find multiple fireplaces with their bright, tantalizing flames crackling for your attention to keep your buns warm! Downstairs at Cafe Don Alfonso the hustle and bustle is just beginning, with the servers in their crisp white uniforms and homely smiles as they offer you fresh squeezed OJ or a lovely espresso! I expected better from them as.. Unfortunately for me as they got my order wrong but fixed it. Ordered the Salmon a eggs Benedict (pictured last) I highly recommend getting their Yukon potatoes as they are smashed, salty and have sprigs of Rosemary! Best potatoes ever!

Yelp
Difficult trip about a month ago left me questioning my loyalty ta this Ritz. They pulled out all stops this time and made sure I felt the value of a stay at the Ritz. From staff learning my name and making a point to remember I like unsweetened Ice Tea no lemon, to the daily touches that kept my stay comfortable, I am impressed and gratified that my past trust is the brand remains well placed. Thank you for a great stay this week.

Yelp
Excellent The hotel is amazingly beautiful. The staff are humble & extremely kind. They made sure I was comfortable. I definitely will return time and time again. The rooms are cozy. And snacks & drinks are always available. This was my first time coming here and yes I must come more often. I personally loved the shower. The views I had were exceptional. I got a ton of rest. I give them 10 stars.

Yelp
It's the Ritz what's not to love! From the doormen to front desk you are treated like royalty. Our room was on the suite level which included the club room. You must splurge and take advantage of the wonderful offerings. We enjoyed Sunday brunch in the Italian restaurant and it was delightful! We will be back!

Yelp
The Ritz-Carlton did not disappoint! Some friends and I stayed there recently during a work trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was very nice, very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was amazing and very welcoming and accommodating. I was shocked that they still had the bathtub/showers but overall, it was a very nice hotel. We took an Uber to downtown St. Louis near the ballpark and it was about $30-40 each direction but it was a good time. I'm told there were lots of options around the hotel for restaurants but we were only there one night so I didn't get a chance to explore that. They had Valet parking and Self Parking which was in an attached parking garage that was plenty tall and spacious for oversized vehicles like mine.

Yelp
The good: our room was spacious and clean. I was a little worried because I had seen some horrors but was pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. Blackout curtains. The not so good: I hate paying for parking. You pay $25 for self-parking or $30 for valet. These rooms already cost hundreds of dollars and you still have to pay for parking. This might be a "me" issue so take it with a few grains of salt. The lobby was through the lounge, it felt like a maze especially when checking in on a Friday night when it's fully packed! Bottom line: if I find it less than $300 per night, I'd likely book it again. I didn't feel like there was anything spectacular about my stay that would warrant me spending a whole lot of money.

Lon C.

Yelp
Booked online under a military discount, on arrival the staff refused to honor the discount because I was a disabled veteran and not active duty. The woman at the front desk refused to give her name after asking several times. Apparently they don't extend military discounts to disabled veterans, I will never stay here again. If I could give zero stars I would.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
Under construction for the right reasons. The hotel needs to be updated. The staff is certainly very courteous and well mannered. The rates should be a bit more reasonable given the circumstances and construction rooms are nice, clean, nothing special. So would, I stay here again? 60/40 yes bc of location but thats its...rate is a bit high, rooms are nice but not spectacular, and service is very good.

anne k.

Yelp
This is the worst Ritz Carlton property. The food is horrible , the service is non existent. For a premium price I would expect a very different experience. I would stay at the residence inn in Chester -- it has as good of beds and the housekeeping is much better. All this property has is the name Ritz-- Mr Kusich you need to up your game big time

Yelp
This is the hotel of spectacular opulence and grandeur. From the moment you step onto this property you experience world class service and excellence in every aspect. You won't just stay at this hotel, you will experience the finest rooms, food, decorations, service and experience anywhere. The valet, concierge, front desk, room service and cleaning personnel are so kind, accommodating and welcoming that they truly live up to the Ritz Carlton motto of "Ladies & Gentleman serving Ladies & Gentleman". The concierge floor is a special treat with approximately six presentations of food daily. It feels like a cruise ship with the selection of food. The quality is also excellent with fresh baked cookies available twenty four hours per day. We highly recommend a room with a view of The Gateway Arch. What a magnificent skyline to watch the sunrise. The 22MM+ renovation of the restaurant into what is now Casa Don Alfonso is a super fun experience that is a worlds fair for your senses. Vacation, business or just a few days away? The Ritz Carleton St. Louis is the place to experience exquisite service in St. Louis.

Yelp
This was quite possibly the most disappointing stay we've ever had. Expected much better from a category 6 property. First, the mirror inside the closet door hadn't been cleaned. Looked like a small child attacked it with dirty hands. Take a look at the pics for a good view of the bathroom that hasn't had much of a cleaning. The toilet room was so dim you could barely see anything. Thinking that was so we didn't see just how disgusting the floor and grout were. We had just come from a Fairfield Inn, which was much cleaner. Sadly, the same cheap toilet paper was used at the Ritz. Really? Even the airport had nicer toilet paper! Valet was almost nonexistent. We were late to a meeting because we couldn't find anybody to get the car. Icing on the cake was that even though we asked - and confirmed - twice to have a late checkout, we get to our room and the keys don't work! Had to call twice to get back into our room. Beds were comfy and room was large. But everything else was a huge disappointment.

Yelp
I stay at Marriott properties a lot. I've been a titanium elite member for several years. I pick Marriott because it's always clean. I pay extra for that reason alone. Out of the hundreds of places I've stayed, I've never once had an incident concerning cleanliness. Of all places to have an issue it's at the nicest brand they have. The bathtub is old looking and had at least 5 pubic hairs in it along with some smaller hairs. I know it may sound silly to some to complain, but these rooms are Marriott branded and run $700 a night. If I was at motel 6 I would have thought you get what you pay for, but at a Ritz? I've stayed in the Denver Ritz and it was superb. The bath was a large, beautiful jetted tub. This tub here would be ripped out and replaced if it was in my house. I didn't notify anyone and scrubbed the tub myself. It's 1 in the morning and I'm not going to have the desk staff fix something the cleaners screwed up. I rarely ever leave reviews, but I just can't let this one go. Besides that everything else is great like I'd expect. I do think they should put a snack assortment in the room where you pay for what you take. I think St. Louis needs to give Denver a call and step their game up. You're supposed to be the best, act like it.

Yelp
Rooms are just a tad dated and the clientele definitely leans on the older side, but it's a nice property with friendly staff. I'm not sure it's worth it if you have to pay full price, but it's great with a discount.

Yelp
This is absolutely the worst ritz I've been too. Service was awful. Elevators were broken. We had to add 10 minutes to our trip just to leave the hotel. Food was mediocre. This is not en par with other ritz hotels.

Yelp
Service is mediocre. Understaffed? Only 1 restaurant which on Sunday only served a full buffet and had a 20+ minute wait. No place to get just a cup of coffee and a muffin. Was told only other option was room service. Ended up using GrubHub. It's now 2:30PM and room has yet to be cleaned. Sitting in Lobby Lounge which doesn't "open" for an hour. Tables are covered with leftover stuff from meals. Very disappointed!

Yelp
Beautiful property. Rooms very spacious. Traditional Ritz style. Surprised this property didn't have a pool. But, many other great amenities. Enjoyed the sushi cocktail hour and the private wine cellar. Great rooms for meetings and breakout sessions. Would definitely stay at this property in the future.

Yelp
Overall a good experience! I was in St. Louis for a conference at the Ritz and this was my first time staying at a Ritz Carlton hotel of any location. As the hotel hosted the conference, I got special discounted room rates and stayed in a regular room with 2 queen beds. I was definitely impressed throughout my stay. The staff was very kind and helpful, the room was clean and nice (I especially enjoyed that their TV had Netflix), and I also checked out the fitness area which was very clean, sleek, and beautiful with so many windows. I will say that I most likely won't be back, just because I think that it was a good hotel stay, but wouldn't pay their regular prices for the room that was quite average in comparison to less expensive hotels (Hilton, Hyatt, etc.). It also seemed to cater older individuals, so I wouldn't really push this for a group of low-20 year olds. However, if you have the means and want to explore the dining and cigar lounge options at the Ritz, I highly recommend!

Yelp
The staff was friendly from the moment we arrived and the bellman valet parked my car and lead us to reception. You need to book a room with club access, the food was excellent and the cookies amazing. Martha helped us and she went out of her way to Assist us with our daily plans.

Yelp
We just had an awful experience here!!!! Beware. Front desk service was simply atrocious. My brother in law prepaid for our one night stay with hotel points. However upon checkin, we were asked for credit card, which we gave as we knew we would have parking incidentals. We checked out in early the morning. The male front desk clerk didn't tell us the fees, and as it was early we didn't think to double check that only parking was charged. Nope. They charged the full room amount to our credit card. We called as soon as we realized the error- as the receipt hadn't been printed, had been emailed, and the clerk again hadn't told us the amount. After waiting on hold for more than 7 min. We Decided it would be faster to drive back and take care of the mistake in person. Guess how many people were in line at front desk? No one. Hmm. Here is the major problem: the female front desk clerk didn't care at all when my husband explained the hotel error in basically double charging for the room. She was completely unhelpful and uncaring. So now we have to fill out a credit card authorization form to get charges refunded to us after the room had already been paid for. So tell me why we have to do all the work to rectify their mistake? Talk about stressful and inconvenient. And insulting that she treated us with such condescending indifference. So now, we have to inconvenience my brother in law as well to either get back his points or switch payments. Great way to start our vacation. Again: BEWARE! To be fair, the valet staff was unfailing polite in greeting us and opening doors. There were a couple friendly staff who greeted us last night, and room was beautiful- gorgeous white marble in the bathroom, large spacious hotel room, lovely decor. However the front staff service was deplorable and at the end of the day, at this point we have been double charged (room had been paid for with points and still charged to our credit card) with uncertainty of getting it corrected as the staff do not care at all.

Yelp
As we came off of the road, we were met by two people that were obviously new to the computers and unable to check us in. Which I thought after 40 years of travel was unusual for a hotel of this nature. The person in charge I suspect or the one that's been there the longest. Step forward to check us in. She asked for my discount and I provided her proof. Now, bear in mine I fly for one of the largest military contractors in the world. I have a DOT stamp on my identification. But that was not enough for this woman. In fact, she compared it to her drivers license. I would like her to fly military equipment as I do and see if she would then would compare it to her drivers license ! it would be hard for me to understand how a woman that would work for Ritz. Carlton would not understand the difference between a pilots license. Department of transportation, contractor, and a simple drivers license. The amount of disrespect by this woman was incredible. we were both tired and of course, let it go. Reaching the rooms, we found that they put us on the highway noisy part of the hotel . No surprise attitude always follows poor performance ! So we had to go back down and correct that. I was very disappointed by this experience. As a Bonvoy member alone it would be a disappointment. But as a highly respected aviator, it was a slap in the face. This is the second review I've given by poor performance in my lifetime.

Yelp
Have held many Work Meetings here over the years and finally attended one this trip. Meetings girls & Sales and everyone is great. Arrived & was able to check right in & got my room (even got a nice little Thank you Tray) Room was large & SUPER NICE, my view overlooked a Train Track which I thought would be loud, but really wasnt at all. It was nice. The balconys were great, just wish I had a view. Everything super clean the whole time. The meeting rooms are soo old & gorgeous with all the old crown moldings and everything with such detail. Its a huge place with parking attached, you have to drive almost out & around the hotel to find parking & that was a little confusing at first. Communication with meetings people is sometimes back & forth but otherwise everything is great here & will continue to host my meetings here!

Yelp
The server was fantastic in the lounge. She was attentive and anticipated our needs. The sushi, however needed a lot of work. It was mediocre. Definitely not recommended for real sushi eaters. I got the Clayton, Alaska, and California. All were just OK. I wish they had more authentic sushi. Overall I'm a fan of the service but would not eat in the lounge again.

Yelp
I've stayed at several ritz Carlton's around the world and this is one of the best. Outstanding people that cater to your every need with a smile. I've spent over 60 days at this ritz Carlton. There is only one I'd avoid snd that is the ritz Carlton in Denver. People feel their customer are privileged to be able to stay there and have poor customer service. I've stayed at more than 10 different ritz Carlton's and Clayton's has the beat people.

Yelp
King size bed room on 15th floor, has a view of downtown St Louis from balcony. Nice gym facility & lobby provides water & pretzels / chips while you are waiting there in afternoon. Fancy hotel but didn't think it was of the Ritz caliber in California.

Yelp
I went here to have a relaxing Massage and it was great. I love the facility and the atmosphere. Other than not having anyone around for assistance it was great. The front desk was amazing I might add
