Why There Are So Many Diners at the Jersey Shore | Eater NY

"At Roadside Diner in Wall Township I found a diner car that’s been perched for decades, with checkered tile floors, a row of vinyl-covered stools, compact booths, vintage tins of saltines above shelves of glasses, artificial plants hanging from a beam, and a drawing of the Golden Gate Bridge over the counter; it even earned fame for a cameo in a Springsteen video, and owner-cook Demetris Gerakaris—who emigrated from Greece in the late 1970s and worked in diners before buying his own—says, “Everybody knows everybody here.”" - Melissa McCart

The atmosphere and the Silk City built diner car are perfect, and the food my wife and I ordered (chili cheese dogs and a BLT) were great! We’ll definitely be back soon!

Came in today for a classic TRUE NJ “Diner” experience. This place checks all the boxes. I could go on & rave forever but I will spare you with the it’s good & worth it. Our waitress was very nice, professional & always pouring coffee, noticing creamer & sugar. Well worth the trip.

Very Jersey!!! The service was great, the food was good & this little diner has a very cool & unique vibe. There's a 60's feel from the decor to the music played. Really cute place but very small inside. I'd recommend the experience though.

I had Maria and Billy as servers. I had a wrap which was excellent. The atmosphere, food, and service was great! 5 Stars For Me!

Classic, genuine diner experience. Affordable food, flowing coffee, and friendly staff. Plus, the atmosphere can’t be beat. This old rail car has been totally transformed into a cozy breakfast spot. The vibe is immaculate. If you’re in the area or driving through, you won’t regret a meal here.

We have gone to The Roadside Diner since it reopened. The owners and staff are warm down to earth and very welcoming. The owner brings out your food, your refills your coffee and chats with her customers. We have the same server every Monday who is great. We feel like extended family. For my husbands birthday he was offered a dessert by the owner!!! He loved his huge chocolate cake. Who does that? That’s a family feeling. The owners take pride in their diner and it shows. Food is absolutely delicious. So is the coffee and the theme felt there. Thanks for reopening this diner and being so awesome. We really appreciate and enjoy all of you and the dining experience

Classic NJ Diner, great service and good food.CASH only, so come prepared, though there is an ATM on premise. Parking available. Booth’s are a bit tight, but makes it cozy 😁 - kids at the booth behind us were having a great time doing “knock knock” jokes. Super friendly place. This old rail car has been around forever, and still has original features from the 1940s. The food was really good. The fries are hand cut -- not frozen!! On the way out we spotted a rotary phone by the register. The waitress laughed and said "the kids have no idea how it works!" ... Fun fact: this diner was featured on the cover of Bon Jovi's "Crossroads" album.

Recently renovated and reopened. Delicious food! Owners of Broad St Diner took over and meals are just as good as up there. Super clean, reasonable prices (3 breakfasts got $42). Will happily be back
