Not a 5-Star Experience – Poor Communication and Service
We had a very disappointing experience during our stay at ROC Hotel.
First, we booked a sailing trip through the hotel. Despite a weather warning, we were not informed about any risks. The trip went ahead, and the very next day, Lake Vouliagmeni was closed due to the weather conditions, proving that the risks were serious. The fact that the hotel failed to communicate this to us was extremely irresponsible. Even worse, no one from management approached us afterward to discuss or apologize, which left us feeling that guest safety and well-being are not a true priority at this hotel.
When the hotel finally proposed an alternative activity, it was poorly considered, offering a long afternoon trip to sites 2–3 hours away, which was simply not practical or thoughtful.
We also found the breakfast experience well below 5-star standards, both for the quality and variety of the food and the service. I will spare some of the details
2nd day was better though than the first day.
It also felt that the hotel prioritized commercial activities over guest comfort allowing modeling photo shoots to take place during the day without concern for guest privacy or disruption.
On the morning of our departure, the hotel manager finally approached us to apologize for some of the experiences.
However, given everything that had happened, it felt too little and too late.
That said, we want to highlight that we had a very positive experience at Cape Sounio, which also belongs to Grecotel. This shows that the group can do much better when managed properly.
As for finding a boutique hotel in Athens, we are sure there are better places offering more professional service, better breakfasts, greater attention to detail, and a true 5-star experience.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend ROC Hotel based on our experience.
