Stopped into The Rock Kitchen in East Amherst on a cold, rainy night and found the perfect cozy spot! Warm comfort food. Help yourself popcorn, good lobster roll, and the fried green tomato and mozzarella caprese stack were great options. Quick, friendly service and a local crowd at the bar. Looks and and feels like it might’ve been a former home. Chill vibe all around!

Riley took great care of us. He was very attentive and pleasant to deal with. The chicken wing soup was spicy but delicious. My pot roast sandwich was ok. Not much flavor to the meat. Sauteed onions were done perfect. My friend had a burger. She enjoyed it. The dipping sauce was great. I'd come back again for the soup alone!!

This place was fantastic. The food was fast and tasted amazing. The service was spectacular as they never let our drinks get empty and checked on us often. I got the lobster roll and it was great. I prefer the hot lobster with butter, whereas this was served cold style with a sauce, but would 100% devour it again.

Ordered the hot honey glaze chicken with extra potatoes (that they did great on) but the chicken.... Dry, not seasoned and the thinest piece for 18.99. this is our first time eating here and not going to lie pretty disappointed.

Stoped in to see how the place has changed over the years. We were seated out side in a heated porch. The food was fantastic and ended up taking an extra order home. I have attached their menu ..

The French onion soup was okay, alot of croutons with little flavor. Highly recommend the burgers, wrap, and fries with their special sauce. The atmosphere is good esp for families.

Google
Y'all this place is amazing! Our waitress Laurie was the best she made sure we had a great visit . I had the lobster roll and fries. Ok so I live in Mississippi now coming from east coast I don't get good seafood often but this was an amazing lobster roll one of the better I have had even from VA Beach delicious. My husband had the burnt ends tacos. He said they were some of the best different tacos he has had. Very different very good. You should try them. Cudos to the wait staff and chefs/cooks. I also need to shout out to the v Bartender she made one of the better whiskey sours according to the hubs one of the best most consistent ones. Thank you to the staff. We will be back probably this week and definitely when we come back in July..

The building always looked mysterious to me, because of the black and red theme colors they use. So I finally had to come and check Rock Kitchen out. Soon as you step in you see the bar, to the left there is the hostess stand. Once you speak to the hostess, you have a choice of sitting. In the patio section, or you can dine inside. The menu offers plenty of options such as, Burgers, salads and wings. Pretty decent tasting food and would come back again. Philly cheesesteak egg rolls- very cheesy and delicious Cajun dry rub wings- loved the crispy the wings were cook. Rub could be a little to much for some though. Garlic Parmesan wings- really good tasting and nice size wings Signature rock hot and sweet- again wings cooked perfect and the sauce was really good Cheddar burger- choice of cheese (but it’s a up charge) Burger nice size and cooks with a side of fries, plus a side of aioli dipping sauce. I used some of the sauce for my burger, it was really good.

Yelp
It looks like we accidently started a new tradition. This was the 2nd year we visited Rock Kitchen on the 1st Friday of Lent. We again both ordered the fish fry. The fish is flakey with a nice beer battered coating. The fries, which I look back and see were greasy last visit were fried better this time. Though I did think it was strange that there was a combination of straight & crinkle fries. They tasted ok though. Overall decent meal. 2925-17

Yelp
This is a such great place! The food is uniformly delicious and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. The menu is extensive. They have great specials also. We have many favorites especially the fantastic lobster roll and the chicken wing soup. The fish fry is delicious; crispy fries, and tasty sides. We have been there many times and never been disappointed. Juicy burgers, wonderful inventive entrees, seafood, etc. - such an amazing array of choices. And also a large comfortable patio. Gayle D

Yelp
We love this place! It's located a couple of towns away from us, but is well worth the drive. We have enjoyed eating on the patio the last couple of visits, and the ambiance inside the restaurant is lovely as well. The service is always great, the menu has lots of choices and the food and prices are outstanding. A new regular for us!

Yelp
This is a classic Buffalo NY tavern style place which offers covered outdoor seating. Perfect for an early summer evening. Service was great, offers specials and a wide menu. Steamed clams were on the menu but I went with a chicken gyro type pita sandwich which was delicious and the fries perfect too. Very casual with a good happy hour. On a Monday night it was very relaxing. Also offered a substantial veterans discount.

Yelp
If you love great food, do not miss the Rock Kitchen and Bar!! Here you will find the usual pub type offerings that are terrific, but you can also find very creative selections, like Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos! and French Dip! Everything is delicious! The service is always good. Christien served us last time and he was very helpful with questions and selections, plus very cheerful and friendly! The setting is unique...it seems like an old mansion, with booths and bar inside, and a fun outdoor deck that is now all season. Because of the quality and uniqueness of the food, the exceptional service and fun setting last visit, we went back later same day to purchase a gift card for an anniversary gift! We'll be back!

Yelp
good fries. I ordered a medium burger it was rare. On the recook it was well. Drink prices seem high for the type of place. We sat at the bar and boy is it dirty and need of new paint. The tiles and mirrors above and around the bar are beyond gross. The glasses hanging above the bar; so dirty! Great comfy bar stools. Service is good/attentive.

Yelp
Food 4/5 generous beef patty, side of fries or onion rings (which were large and d delicious). Steak house burger with onions, mushrooms, A1 and Swiss cheese was in incredible. Just needed a little more salt, which is easy enough to sprinkle yourself. The spicy sweet sause for dipping fries was tasty. Tuesday is probably burger night - $2 off burgers! At least it was tonight. So my friend ordered the stuffed pepper burger. He enjoyed it. I enjoyed the margaritas on the rock with salt were yum and had a kick - after all we were at the Rock, so had to order on the rocks! Service 5/5 was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Made sure the heat lamp was turned on, as it was a bit chilly in the outdoor dining area. Ambiance - 5/5 casual. Clean and simple patio enclosed for now until it warms up outside. Reasonable prices for East Amherst. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
We've heard some good things about this place so we had to stop and check it out. We waited at the host booth for a few mins before being seated and then an additional few minutes to place our drink order. First impressions were that the floor was clearly Mopped recently (standing water) and the table was a little sticky and could have used a better wipe. Drinks came quick though and we placed our food order. Kids love chicken tenders, theirs were decent sized but the one thing I think everyone likes is crispy fries. These were not. The house sauce though, I liked it. The misses gave the goat cheese pizza a lot of great praise, definitely one of the better ones she's had. The wings they're my thing.. I'll say they were entry . Solid effort on them though (decent sized, very thinly sauced, not crispy). I like bleu cheese and seeing different takes on it from place to place, but Ken's is the easy safe bet for bleu. We also got the wing soup (not pictured), very fancy bowling with rock written in hot sauce. Spicy, but a little too much for the misses but perfect for me. Loved it. Solid meal. Decent pricing. Will return.

Yelp
We stopped here during the of the summer as part of our patio preview on a weekday afternoon We each had a burger and fries. The service was great and the good was pretty good. They have a large selection of burgers from classics to BBQ burgers. Everything was quite fresh. They had some great hand cut seasoned French fries. I enjoyed the ambiance, mainly because they had televisions hanging and you could watch sports or whatever. But the actual scenery is just the rocky parking lot. There is nothing that makes you feel like you are getting away ... I am a person who loves a great view ... I'd love to see them enhance the experience this spring and perhaps add more greenery around if possible.

Yelp
We finally got around to checking this place out last week because we wanted to try something new with my mother in law. We were seated at a big table in an enclave so it almost felt like having a private room. There were a lot of fun seasonal drinks to choose from. I wish the almond joy was dressed up with some chocolate syrup, but it was good. Not great like similar drinks elsewhere, but good. The chocolate martini was better, but I really wanted to get my chocolate and coconut fix in the same drink. My husband raved about the lasagna. One son enjoyed his wings. The other enjoyed his chicken tenders. I forget what my MIL had, but she really liked it. I think the calamari was corn dusted. I prefer flour, but that's a matter of personal preference. The batter on the bang bang shrimp tasted like fried chicken somehow. I liked the sweet and spicy chili sauce, though. Next time I'll try a burger instead. Service was great.

Yelp
Took over an hour to get food. Fries & onion rings cold. Burgers average. Service was not great ... SLOW!!!!! I RARELY leave negative reviews. Will not be back here.

Yelp
Went for lunch today and it was a great experience. Riley was terrific! Food was so good, best gluten free roll. Everyone ordered something different and everyone loved it ! Chicken wing soup best we ever had !!

Yelp
Decided since it was a Friday, we would get a Fish Fry. We settled on Rock Kitchen as where we would go. They don't have an online reservation system so I had to call to make a reservation. We took advantage of their early bird Fish Fry special. The Fish and the Cole Slaw were good but the fries were too greasy for my taste. It is served with a house made dipping sauce for the fries. I didn't care for the flavor of this mayonnaise based sauce but others seemed to enjoy it. Maybe if we came l later so that the french fry oil had more time to get hot, everything would have been worth a 5 star rating.

Yelp
Driven past this place for years, literally several years but this was the first time ever eating here and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by a friendly hostess upon entering and we had a brand new server in training, and I must say she did a good job for her first day! We started with the spinach artichoke dip which was good however a little small on the portion size, about enough for two but if you have more than that splitting it it won't be enough. I had the Ragin Cajun burger with sweet potato fries. The diameter of the burger was small but it made up for it in thickness! It was perfectly cooked how I asked, came on a fresh bun and it was delicious! The sweet potato fries were a $2 upgrade making this a $20 burger and fries! They came with a honey butter to put on top that was pretty good. We will definitely be back but I don't know if I would get the sweet potato fries upgrade again for the extra money. Not a huge beer selection but they had a variety of styles to choose from.

Yelp
Ate on the patio. My partner got a lobster roll and was pleased with it. I got the chicken in the grass sandwich which was fine, nothing incredible but not terrible either. Wait staff was inundated but very friendly and accommodating. They had ample high chairs!

Linda N.

Yelp
Service was great, but we were freezing in their heated room. Chicken wing soup was good, nice heat. Mussels were tasteless, stuffed hot peppers had a kick. Most of our group enjoyed their choices. Nothing outstanding.

Nancy K.

Yelp
All the food ordered was loved by all present that evening. Service was good very attentive. The ambience was pleasant it had a peaceful outdoors feeling atmosphere with all the windows. Music was kept to a good level so you could talk to everyone. Casual is the feeling of the place. Remember food was delicious.

Yelp
Burgers were full of flavor, house dipping sauce was original and very tasty. Server was top notch. Cozy casual both inside and outside. Fun atmosphere.

Yelp
Stopped by for a couple of cocktails and a fish fry. We've driven by this restaurant/bar so many times but never stopped in. I'm so glad we decided to on this occasion. They offer free popcorn at the bar with seasoning toppings as well. I love free bar popcorn! We ordered a fish fry and it was really good. The fish was substantial and perfectly cooked with a delicious beer battered crust. The sides were also very good. We will stop by again to try more of their menu items.

Yelp
Update: we emailed the owner/manager and someone made it right. Original: We loved the lobster bisque as well as our burgers however we did run into a hiccup with the information we received regarding the order. We asked the waitress if we could onion rings for the fries, she said yes. When the food came, we got an appetizer side serving of onion rings. When we asked, the food runner said that it could be taken off of the bill and to keep the dish. When we reviewed the check they charged the rings separately. The manager refused to take it off the bill. It should not be the customer's responsibility to pay for a mistake if 2 separate employees tell told us incorrect information. Subpar customer service and lack of employee training on the part of the manager.

Yelp
Had previously been to Rock years ago (pre-COVID) and recalled it being a pleasant experience. Tried it again spring 2022 and everything was great. The enclosed patio seating was comfortable. Food and portion sizes were very good. Decent drink menu. Also a fan of the promo tokens that are given out to various organizations, for free kids meals. Would gladly return.

Yelp
My party & I (3 adults, 2 kids) were seated for an early dinner (445) and the patio had several filled tables but it wasn't crowded. We ordered drinks & 2 appetizers plus our meals. Our server, Julia, said the chips for the nachos were homemade but I can almost guarantee they were store-bought, being red, white & blue. One person ordered the lobster roll and loved it. I was offered a piece of meat and it really was lump meat, tender and delicious. Another person ordered the Chicken pot pie and got a "deconstructed" pie - pieces of chicken in a sage-y gravy with lots of peas and a few diced carrots as an afterthought. The other adult (besides myself) ordered a burger & fries. I ordered garlic/parm fingers with a side of steamed broccoli. When the bussers tried to take plates away while people were still eating, I'd had enough. Yes, more people were arriving, but you don't shove out the people who are already seated and eating. I don't know if we came on the wrong day/at the wrong time, but I don't know that I'd come back...

Yelp
Had a really good experience here. The new patio has recently opened but we sat inside so we didn't have to wait. The service was good- can't complain! The food was delicious. We went on a Monday so their daily deal was on chicken wings. They were good! We ordered hot and a signature sauce that was both sweet and had a kick. A few people in my party had burgers. There was a grilled cheeseburger, (Kraft) Mac and cheeseburger, and wagyu beef sliders. The regular size burgers were just so big! Sometimes I just hate a burger that's messy and hard to even fit in your mouth! The roast beef was well done and nothing special. The fresh cut fries are very good. I ordered the SHRIMP TACOS which were delicious!! I asked the waitress between the signature lobster roll and the tacos and she recommended the tacos. I can't complain!!

Yelp
Despite living nearby for a year, I only recently tried out Rock Kitchen and Bar on the recommendation of a relative. I'm glad that I went, as I've found a new neighborhood restaurant to add into my regular rotation! There is an extensive outdoor patio, but we elected to sit inside due to the heat. If you have a strong preference, I would recommend calling and making a reservation as the indoor seating seems to be a bit more limited. Some of the seating indoors is rather cramped. The staff was very friendly, and it seems to be a fairly kid friendly place. When we were being seated, my toddler was given the opportunity to pick out a container of play doh to play with while we ordered and waited for our food. He was so excited by that, and it kept him occupied much more than standard crayons places give out. The menu is pretty extensive, with options sure to please everyone. They even have a wide variety of GF options as well. I ordered a burger which was really good. They also make their own steak cut fries which we all really enjoyed. My husband had a cup of their Buffalo Chicken Soup which he said was very good too. I look forward to coming back and trying some more of their menu items!

Yelp
aps were good. service was great. Dinner was sub par. Linguine and clams Were cold. 2 bad clams with only 5-6 in the whole thing. If it would have been more than $18 I would have been mad. I guess you get what you pay for. Awful.

Cindy F.

Yelp
The service was good and food was delicious! I truly recommend this place for a great variety of sandwich foods!

Yelp
Came here for dinner and was impressed! I had the beef on weck and it was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Our server was friendly and all the food came out quickly. Lots of seating available too so didn't have to wait for a table which is rare for a Friday night dinner and they also had a heated patio.

Yelp
Been wanting to try the Rock for a long time but was hesitant due to poor reviews (prior management) on service. My doubts were out to rest on my visit tonight. Was seated within minutes and my drink order was taken right away. Waitress was friendly and attentive throughout my meal. My drink was always filled. Was with two friends and combined we ordered the Cajun blue bacon burger, hot wings, fingers, pizza logs and steak flatbread. The flatbread didn't bow me away but had a crispy flatbread with a good amount of steak and peppers. Very flavorful, would order again. The wings and fingers were both crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Sauce was tasteful. Prob one of the better fingers I had in a long time and the wings were made just how I like them. The burger was extremely flavorful and had a great crust. Also very juicy. Burger was ordered medium rare but was cooked prob medium well. Despite that I would definitely come here for a burger again. The fries were ok, tasted fresh cut but they were too big. When that happens they tend to be too potatoey on the inside. I gravitate towards a thinner cut fry. Could use a better beer menu, lot of other places blow it away. Does have the best Sabres specials around. BOGO free appetizers during games. With Buffalo looking better this year I hope this deal lasts. If you have had doubts in the past about coming here, it is now worth a trip. Will be here a lot this season.

Yelp
We have lived 2 minutes from the Rock kitchen and bar for nearly 4 years and never tried their food until today! Wow! We should've tried sooner! They have a covered outdoor heated patio and indoor dining. Prompt seating and quick service. My husband ordered the classic burger, I got the French onion soup and lobster roll. French onion soup was good and the lobster roll was great! Lots of large chunks of lobster!!! We are definitely going to return and make this our regular spot.

Yelp
First/last time customer. Stopped in on a Monday at 5 pm. We were the second table in the place. We were seated and promptly met by our server who took our drink order. Shortly returned with the 2 drinks and asked if we needed more time with the menu. I immediately said yes as I was having a hard time finding something to select. The longer I looked, the worse it got. This is probably one of the poorest menus I have ever seen. No real dinner selections and all the wraps were $15. I skimmed the burgers then. Also over priced and unoriginal. I think they need a professional to overhaul this menu. It is so poor that we left money for the drinks and a tip , grabbed our coats and left. Ps. I never really got a drink because the waitress came and took it away saying "someone put seltzer water on the Sprite" and we left before she returned.

Bev M.

Yelp
The Rock never disappoints! Great food, Great drinks and reasonable priced! Had a new drink, Cinnamon Roll Martini.. amazing! I HIGHLY recommend it! Topped with a burger and fries that were made to my specifications. I highly recommend a visit! Oct 14th and still able to enjoy the patio! What could be better.

Yelp
I'll pretty much give my money to any establishment that's building is red and black and that's exactly what happened when I pulled into The Rock Kitchen and Bar over the weekend. The outside of this place is really nice and even has a large outside/covered patio towards the back of the building. The inside of this restaurant is pretty cool too featuring some very old and beautiful interior and a ton of decorations to spice things up. The menu here features a pretty basic list of soups, salads, small plates, sandwiches, and burgers which is the type of food you expect at a place labeled The Rock (not to be confused with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). After much consideration I ended up ordering the stinger burger because that's what's my mind thought I needed at the moment. For those not from Buffalo a stinger is when you have beef and chicken in one sub creating magic together. The stinger itself was pretty alright and made me way fuller then I expected it to. The burger itself was pretty average and the same can be said for the chicken finger on top. The French fries were thicker then usual and get a big thumbs up from me. Overall, The Rock was an average place with an average experience. The food was alright, the service was friendly, the food came out fast, and the restaurant was nice. You won't be blown away by this place but it's a cool place to check out if you are in the area.

Yelp
We were driving around in the area and got hungry and landed at this place. There appears to be a very large outdoor area that looks really nice but it's cold so we ate inside. The menu had a decent amount of sandwiches and burgers. I went with a portobello sandwich. It came with French fries and their special French fry sauce which was alright. The sandwich itself was good, pretty messy though. Overall, this place is alright.

Cara C.

Yelp
I had posted a negative review over the weekend. Austin was on top If it! He did everything he could to save us as customers. I will definitely be giving the Rock another chance. Thank you Austin for caring so much about the service.

Yelp
I went here last week with a group of friends. I had the southwest grilled chicken burger/sandwich. It was so good! I really liked the hot/sweet sauce that came with the fries. A few of my friends had salads. They said they liked them. The portions are definitely a good size. You don't leave hungry that's for sure. I'm giving this 4 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
It's taken years for us to reconsider this place. Figured, new name, new patio---let's do it. Well, you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. My review doesn't change. Took 15 mins to put in a drink order at our table. Nachos were a pile of nonsense. Politely declined when I was asked if I wanted to order dinner. Not much to look at on the patio. Beer was cold. Had a good selection.

Brian B.

Yelp
Fish fry had no potato salad, no mac salad, no rye bread. The cole slaw had absolutely no flavor! No Mayo, no salt no pepper, no vinegar. Menu says 16oz beers, but you get a 12oz bottle at the higher price. When told about these short comings. No attempt was made to rectify or compensate these errors. Never will return here!
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great place for a double date. Very spacious inside and I liked that the bar was separate from the restaurant. They took us right in and the waitress got us drinks while we looked over the menu. We started with the stuffed peppers which were super spicy but in a good way and the stuffed pepper pizza which was delicious. The Southwest burger was very good the flavors all meshed well together. It was huge and could barley finish it. The broiled fish and fish fry were giant pieces of fish. The wrap was filled with lots of great ingredients. The waitress gave us lots of time because we were chatting never did we feel rushed. We were too full to try the camp fire logs so I will be back for those and to get more great food.
google avatar

Shauna R.

Yelp
Got dinner and drinks here because we wanted to see how the renovations went and how the food is under new management. The decor and furniture is much more modern and updated which makes the dining room feel warmer than it was before. The service was amazing and our waitress was super attentive. The wine list is short (which they apologize for on the menu) but the price (6$ per glass) makes it reasonable! The Greek chicken pita with sweet potato fries was ordered and raved about at our table. The stuffed banana peppers appetizer was large, very spicy, and delicious. Great renovations and good menu so I definitely will be returning.
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
Came twice in one week, both for the patio and for my now very favorite "rock sweet chili sauce" that comes with the fresh cut fries. Came with different sets of people and every meal was made to order, fresh and well prepared. Meals included, garden noodle bowl, transit road wrap, veggie burger and the ragin Cajun burger. The menu lists many options with the ability to substitute, add things or delete things without a problem. Lots of vegan or vegetarian options too. Staff was all friendly and on point.

Yelp
Reopened under new ownership in August, 2016. Still feels and sounds the same as old, some fresh paint but the same friendliness. Still working out kinks, as to be expected, so patience is definitely a virtue until they hit their stride. Southern Tier IPA draft went down smoothly. Half-pound burger was very satisfying in a Costanzo's roll. No room for dessert.

Yelp
The only thing better than these portobello caps was the service of our waitress, Ashley! She was incredibly polite and gracious, very kind and attentive to our every need! 17/10

Yelp
Great burgers and flat bread pizza - especially the goat cheese. Kids love that they get a tube of Playdoh to keep them occupied while waiting for their food. The patio is nice, but overlooks the parking lot

Yelp
Great burgers and fries!! Really fun old house vibe with cool bar and low key setting for family, friends, date or just good food! 4/5 because food and service was great for the setting, not gourmet but awesome burgers that were HUGE and thick fries. Beer is a good price too and the Friday fish special is definitely worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, food was solid, portion sizes were quite large. Looking forward to going back to try a Few other items. Fries were delicious.

Yelp
Wow we were impressed! The bang bang shrimp are amazing, we can't stop thinking about them. We also tried their Lobster Rolls, Calamari and Cobb Salad, all great choices and some of our new favorites! Thank you staff for being friendly, quick and for working hard. It doesn't go unnoticed!!

Yelp
We only came because the place across the street was closed and we were very hungry. Wow! What a pleasant surprise considering their 3 star rating. I had the Southwestern Burger and my wife had the California Burger. Our burgers were cooked perfectly to order. The buns were sturdy and lightly toasted. And very important to me was the hand cut fries were crispy. Service was also good. We showed up on a Saturday at opening time. Recommend you give them a try.

Yelp
This place is truly a neighborhood gem! From the hostess, to the servers, and the phenomenal bartenders, The Rock is something special. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. Our server, Julia, hustles and made our dining experience great. She was attentive without being annoying. The bar, while small, is always hopping and contains a nice mix of regulars and casual patrons. Everyone is welcome and they treat you like family! Our bartender, Shay, took great care of us and she was friendly and a great conversationalist. We have been back many times and will continue to go when we are in the mood for great food, service, and fun!
