"The rooftop bar and restaurant at Selfridges serves California-style bistro cuisine high above Oxford Street. So think chicken caesar salads and avocados, and you won’t be too far off. There’s also an open air terrace with tables which can be pleasant if you catch it on a sunny day. That’s the good news. The bad news is that, as Londoners, we really want to love the rooftop bar and restaurant - we really do. But between the mediocre food and views of literally a few Mayfair rooftops, it’s a spot that we honestly struggle to find a reason to visit. Best to give it a miss." - David Paw

I can’t speak to the food because we just had sunset drinks. But in terms of drinks if you make a reservation you will get a table…. But the tables don’t have the best views. The self seating bar does. We walked in on a Thursday evening around 7 pm and found a seat at the bar. The service is a bit slow and not at all up to the standards of the hotel on the first floor. However i would go back to enjoy the great views . There is only one bathroom upstairs that is right next to where the elevator is that leads to a bit of a crowded feeling that characterizes the whole place. The atmosphere loses one star for looking out on a parking lot before you elevate your eyes to the sunset 😀

This is a tremendous view of the sunset! But bring low expectations of everything else. The service was painfully slow and inattentive, despite a large staff given the size of the venue. The food is OK, but came before the drinks, which was disappointing. Beautiful views, but missed the mark on service, big time. Menu is sparse, but what we ordered was OK.

This place has a spectacular view and you pay the price for it. They have a variety of cocktails which are good. We enjoyed the sunset with two cocktails and a pretzel and then we went to the bar downstairs which is very characteristic and has an exclusive atmosphere. It can get very loud when full. The service is very good and the personnel is very kind and welcoming..

This places is magic. Great cocktails with an excellent service. The food is amazing and the cocktails are out of this world!!! We couldn’t enjoy the rooftop but the bar in the first floor is very gorgeous.

Came here on a Tuesday night for an amazing rooftop experience but was let down by the service I received. It was empty and it took more than 30 mins to get one appetizer. They also charged me for a drink that I didn’t like. We won’t be back.

We had an amazing time last night with old friends and a few superb drinks on the Roof Deck at the Vanderbilt! Great views! Great atmosphere! Great service! The whole building is going through renovations, but don’t let that stop you from going! Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Went here around 6:30 on a Saturday evening. Their reservation site specifies that you cannot make a reservation for drinks just dinner. Drinks are allegedly walk in only. When we arrived and explained we just wanted to grab a drink, we were nevertheless treated extremely rudely by the hostess who chastised us for not having a reservation and told us we could not go in. She did the same to the couple waiting behind us. Very bad experience.

Yelp
Small plates. Gorgeous views. Great service. Make a reservation at sunset! $20 minimum per person for reservation but get a cocktail or 2 and it's covered.

Yelp
The view was beautiful. Although, I actually thought the garden was much more charming. The service was incredible, kind and efficient. The food was okay, small and very expensive. The drinks were alright, although the frozen espresso martini machine was down, which I saw was also down previously.

Yelp
Food and cocktails are good. View is pretty. Service is negligent. We had to wait 25 minutes to order food after ordering cocktails, and then our server didn't bring us plates; my husband had to go request them himself. Not what I would expect from auberge - especially when it's not busy at all. The deck was maybe 40% full.

Yelp
We stopped by here around sunset time a few weeks back, as we were staying just around the corner. The gentleman at the front door was very pleasant and guided us to the elevator which took us up to the bar (I believe it's on the 4th floor). At the top, nobody really came over to help so we went to the bartender and he told us to sit wherever we'd like. Took him a few minutes to come over and I ordered a glass of prosecco and my husband got a cocktail. His was okay - a little strong/bitter. Also, both were served in plastic glasses - maybe it's safer when you could literally drop your glass 4 stories down, but not as classy as one might hope. The views (aside from the parking lot directly below you) were very pretty - you can see the bridge, the sound, boats, etc. Overall a relaxing spot and a little off the beaten path, so not as busy as bars in the other areas of town.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a five star review but I was really underwhelmed. Grace Vanderbilt is beautiful. And the view from the roof deck is as well. I expected the roof deck champagne and cocktail bar to be 5 star as well but was disappointed. $25/glass of champagne served in a dingy plastic glass. Um, no. Cheese platter was beyond underwhelming as well. Poor, tiny selection of cheese and I think Nabisco crackers with zero presentation on a plate. I left there telling my guest from out of town sorry and that I wouldn't bring any other out of town guests there. We went to Scarpetta outside. Grace Vanderbilt is amazing and I would ask their F&B coordinator to review their own expectations of the Roof Deck. They can do so much better.
