The Rooftop at Hotel Via

I went there for an event and the situation was basically chaos. - Long lines at the bathrooms; the wait to use a bathroom ranged from 15 minutes to more than 30 minutes. - Long lines at the bars - folding and circling at the back of the room - even though there seemed to be enough bartenders. - Confusion on drink prices; there was a sign at the bar advertising certain beers for $6. I ordered one and the bartender asked me for $13. After she saw my surprise she said "oh, is that all you have? ok, then $6 - plus tax". After she conferred for a while with the other bartender and consulted the computer screen, she charged me $8.21. Now we do have some pretty high taxes here in SF, but the tax on drinks isn't 40%. - Probably more people on the rooftop than regulations allow; although there were several "maximum occupancy" signs as required, the maximum number of people was blanked out everywhere.

Pros: clean, modern, very functional layout and elements (magnifying mirror in bathroom, overhead shower & handheld) nice 1x use amenities (not bulk in shower soap that can be contaminated...). Illy brand in room coffee. Friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee/water in lobby. Awesome sheets. Cons: onsite parking is $80. Bed is a bit firm. AC is very lackluster. TV is small. Across from ballpark. Would definitely stay here again.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. My girlfriend and I came there to enjoy her birthday weekend and I told the hotel in advance via their app that I would be arriving early and we had medical equipment. When we arrived, they seemed completely unaware of the message I sent. So knowing we were there early, they told us that our room was not yet ready. I asked for the medical equipment to please not be moved off the luggage cart as it's easily broken. They never called us back to tell us the room was ready, which we would have come back to move the equipment had they done so. When we returned they told us the room had been ready for a while, despite having taken my phone number to let me know when the room was ready. They had moved the medical equipment off the luggage cart and then moved it back onto the luggage cart and wouldn't allow me to move it. Luckily it was not damaged. After going back out for dinner, we came back to get ready for bed. We plugged the medical equipment in and got everything started. Then we realized there was one lightswitch for the entirety of the room. And when we turned off that single lightswitch, it also switched off the receptacle that we had plugged the medical equipment into. Thankfully, we got it figured out in time to be able to turn it back on before it errored out, which could require us going to the hospital. When I tried to talk to the front staff, they didn't know it would affect the receptacle and then told me that it shouldn't affect any OTHER receptacle; so we had the choice between trying to move the plugs in fast enough to not error out the machine or sleep with every single light on in the room, since it's all on one lightswitch. EVERY. SINGLE. LIGHT. We were able to switch it, but the response from everyone was lackluster at best. The cherry on top was I found out from Expedia when they asked me if I had received my VIP benefits (a bottle of wine) at check in that I had paid for a VIP experience and was supposed to receive said bottle of wine. It was never mentioned or offered. I asked to speak to the manager the next morning when we were checking out and they said the manager would be right out. I stood there for 10 minutes before asking again and being told, oh, yeah, this is the manager, who had come out several minutes before, but neither of the two people working the desk who had told me I could speak to the manager bothered to tell me that was the manager or the manager that I wanted to speak with them. All told, it seemed like a bunch of people who had absolutely no hospitality training and no desire to learn or help.

Location wise it's great. The area at night is relatively safe. There's modern minimalist decor that keeps this hotel from being stale. Unfortunately, inside isn't very clean. Our carpet has a bunch of stains, there's brown things on the walls, and the nightstand had some odd stains. All these signs are alarming. It's also kinda weird that they don't have a water station out the whole day like other Bay Area Hotels. I typically fill up my water bottle when I'm here at the beginning of the day, but only coffee and water fit on their cramped table. Amenities are just okay. The toiletries are fine, but the toilet paper is yikes. Not sure we'd stay here again.

We chose the Hotel Via because of its location across from Oracle Park for the Giants game. We had been to the Rooftop Bar before & met a number of Giants players & met Shawn Estes when we were there this time. The room was comfortable for two people. A nice sized bathroom with modern fixtures but towels could have been softer. The bath mat towel was threadbare. The pillows were super soft with a feather dense one and synthetic one. The bed was very comfortable. All the staff we met were super nice from the valet, welcome staff, desk, "security staff" on the rooftop, just everyone. Would definitely stay there again.

Hotel lobby is suitable to pick up and drop off services with valley equipment. The entrance is guided with two service restrooms and acquires essentials for bathroom and refreshments. The hotel is quick to accommodate guests with checking in and servicing luggage for room preparation. The roof top and an over look of the base ball field in San Francisco and about a 15 min walk to Safeway and a local cafe.

My wife and I haven't had a getaway in a very long time. I booked a room, purchased tickets to the Giants vs Marlins game, and we headed to the bay. We arrived to the hotel and while trying to check-in, we were told I accidentally made the reservation for the next day. The desk person said there was no single night rooms available as it was a 2 night minimum. I asked for the supervisor. The attendant walked me out to the valet area and introduced me to the general manager of the hotel. Ironically she was the person who valeted our car. She was pleasant, helpful, and understood our dilemma. She told the clerk to switch the days and that we would not be charged for the mistake. We will be sure to make Hotel VIA our first choice from now on.

The Hotel VIA is conveniently located in mission district, right across the Oracle Park stadium. There are pros and cons for this place, friendly reception staff, spacious room, 24hrs open fitness center, however, weird design of restroom slide door no sound proof at all, poorly maintained facilities such as malfunctioning room control systems and broken coffee machine, which aren't that great and causing inconvenience.

Stayed here recently for an event at the Chase stadium. Very convenient location, and it's in the heart of everything. You can walk to the Embarcadero, to the ocean front. Plenty of restaurants nearby and staff is nice. However, elevator is quite small. Besides that though, everything was fine.

The room is clean, bed is comfortable and shower is really nice. WARNING Main problem was the fire alarm in our room. It went off most nights we took a shower. It's really loud and doesn't stop unless they reset it. They said it's because customers complain that the fan is loud so they disconnect the fan. But then you take a hot shower and all the steam goes to the alarm and it blares to the point where neighbors hear too. They said open your door, we do and the alarm doesn't go off. We leave it open for 5 minutes. Alarm is blaring and I had to call multiple times until they shut it off. The gym has old equipment but it all works! No windows. gym is in the basement.I ran on the treadmill and it did the job. The rooftop bar is cool. big and spacious, heaters and a closed roof on one side. bar is small and standard drink options. food is small plates but very good. everything we had was delicious. Im not a fan of san fran prices, all meals are 20-35 or 40 for just one entree any where. and then there is that sur charge of 3-10% that every single place charges. But for the prices this food was very good. $20 for 3 shrimp tacos. super small, 2 fried shrimp per taco. The flavor was amazing! super fresh and crunchy, warm and delicious. the Caesar chicken salad was bigger than i thought it would be and great light dressing, the parmesan crisps were a great touch and the chicken was so tender. the hummus tasted homemade and came with an assortment of veggies and pita. it was a big tub of hummus so that was good $16. the view is also amazing and the staff are super nice

After a long week of business travel, I had to check out at 5am to catch a morning flight back home to New York. I was cranky but Rae at the front desk was cheerful and made me feel like it was 9am, not 5, and I wasn't operating on just a couple hours of sleep. One of the few early morning checkout experiences I had that made me feel energized and ready for the long journey ahead. Thanks Rae!

The beds are nice. The hotel is cool. Where they lose me is the fact that if you come with someone to this hotel, you can actually see them using the restroom or taking a shower. The bathroom has a sliding door with a Huge gap in it. It's actually such a flaw I think they just didn't care that it's there. It's extremely noticeable.... I will never stay here again.

I've stayed here many times on work trips. It's a nice hotel. Beds are comfortable. Gym is nice. No breakfast. Rooftop bar has great views and cocktails!

Came here for one of their rooftop parties. The speakers that were setup throughout the area didn't work at all, except the two speakers up front. You ordered drinks at the bar, but when we got the check there was automatically 20% gratuity added to it?? It'd be nice if there's a sign or the bartenders know you'll have to pay 20% gratuity up front if you have your card on file, otherwise I would've just paid for each drink every time.

At check in, the man at the front desk wearing a gray hoodie said he was putting us in a room with a view of the city. When we get to the room, the only thing in view is a brick wall. I called down to ask about the view and his response was, "well you have a standard room so you dont get a view". Okay, fine but why tell us we are getting a view if we aren't and then basically tell me its my fault. The room itself isnt anything to write about. It's small, and very plain. For the price, I'd have gotten better elsewhere. Standard room here = prison cell.

CHECK IN: -When you pull up to the hotel the VIP parking service is included in your stay, my friend booked from another booking site and he had to pay $77 for parking, I booked from the hotel website and I got 20% off parking so my price was $51, and I got 1 free drink ticket for me and my wife, Service: Service was really good everyone is nice and and helpful, no issues with staff at all. LIKES: -the bed is so comfortable -you can request your car or room service from the table in your room -the lighting in the room and around the hotel -the rooftop lounge bar is a beautiful scene at night and in day time -the shower has 2 water heads good pressure -the room is really dark and peaceful at night DISLIKES: -the prices for room service is really high -at night your can't go to the rooftop area if someone booked that space, they should of had a extra area for guest of the hotel because of people book that rooftop area every weekend you would never be able to enjoy that area -the snack bar down stairs prices are ridiculous Overall the hotel was a nice comfortable stay, we stayed on the 7th floor, our view from the room was facing the brick wall but that's just our room every room is different, I will come stay here again. -

What I loved: -Excellent location if you're going to a (GO GIANTS!) game at Oracle. It's walking distance from here. -Has a beautiful rooftop bar with bay bridge views -Clean, spacious, mid-level niceness -Black towels for your makeup face. Appreciated. -Valet parking available What I wasn't crazy about: -Not much of a view from the rooms. We were facing a brick wall. -No complimentary waters in the room; pointless to have a coffee machine with no water. There is a small shop inside the hotel entrance where you can buy water. -Barn door for bathroom. Um, no. The door slides but they're is still a gap between the door and wall for you to hear a person's business. Look into this location if you're going to a game and need a convenient, safe, well priced location to stay. And while you're here go to the roof top bar.

Right next to the SF oracle park new baseball stadium. Very small, but cozy and lots of young group customers ! It was fun to stay there.

Its my third time here. First time just the wife and I. Second time for work so just myself. Third time I brought my wife and two kids. The darn bathroom doors. I liked everything about my stays. Good drinks at the bar, nice staff, great location. But dang man, the bathroom doors in the rooms are awful. Maybe someone thought barn doors were a trendy good idea. Looks nice, but you get NO privacy. They don't lock and you can see straight in from the side. Ok with a stay with your significant other, not so with kids of any age.

Hotel VIA is really quite lovely. The rooms are modern, well equipped, and most importantly clean. The location is either ideal (across the street from Oracle Park) or annoying (insane traffic during commute times and game days) - depending on your preferences. I experienced two issues with my stay: First. I paid $85/night to valet my car. Regularly $70/night, but both nights of my stay were game nights. I guess this is pretty standard in a big city, but the valet attendant took my key, handed me a tag, and walked away. At $85/night, I would have expected some level of service... open my door, assist with luggage, etc. Valet at the InterContinental is white glove service, and I would have expected similar for the price. Second. The rooms were equipped with tablets on the nightstand that controlled the climate, lights, music, etc. Upon check-in, I noticed the tablet in my room (201) was linked to the room next to me (202). Not only was the room number in the corner of the screen incorrect, but it also displayed the name of the guest in the other room, not mine. Tech is not without glitches, but I felt this to be an absolutely horrifying privacy issue. If someone else's name is displaying on my tablet, I'm sure my name was showing up on someone else's as well. I called down to the front desk to let them know about the crossed wires, and was dismissed when I was told "no other personal information is available on the tablets". But the fact that I had access to the name and room number of ANY other guest aside from myself is not ok. Overall, it was a comfortable stay paid for by my employer. But I would not choose to stay here again if it were on my dime. The dismissal of my privacy concerns was disappointing and concerning at minimum.

We love this hotel so much!!! We are from SF and the Bay Area and come here every time we're in San Francisco and obviously for our Giants! The staff is always amazing and tonight, we had the pleasure of Ray, who assisted us at the front desk and as a return customer to The Via, gave us great service! Thank you Via for another great memory!

This place sucks, for almost 300 dlls a night, plus 70 dll valet parking it is honestly not worth it. The staff is nice the hotel feels very not welcoming, blank walls extremely hot rooms and when you call they say someone will come and check to only tell you that's how the A/C works. My view, a brick wall. It's horrible I wish I would have done more research before booking.

This was the most unexceptional "four star" hotel I've ever stayed in. It's primary virtue is it's location, which is immediately across the street from Oracle Park. You pay a very hefty price for this location during the MLB season, especially considering there are other hotel options not too far away that are lower priced and which undoubtedly have more to offer. The staff was polite and helpful in our limited interactions with them. As a family, we reserved two rooms. They were thoughtfully located across the hall from each other on the 7th floor, and at the hall's end. They were quiet. Our room had a view of the alley below and the side of the adjacent building. We had no view of the park, the bay, nor even of the sky. Both rooms were clean but rather small, and the carpet was worn. All four beds were extremely hard and none of our group slept well during our four night stay. The bathroom was separated from the rest of the room by a frosted glass door, so there was fundamentally no privacy. There was no bath; the shower was enclosed by floor to ceiling glass but only half of the shower area was covered. It was unpleasantly chilly if you ventured too far away from the falling water. There was minimal counter space in the bathroom, and very little storage space elsewhere in the room, aside from four modest sized drawers in the bathroom. We did not use room service as it seemed extremely limited, both in terms of times it was available and the options offered. It did not seem that any breakfast options were available. Proper room service only seemed to be offered in the evening and consisted solely of options from their small on-site restaurant, which had a limited offering of small and seriously overpriced options. They seem to prefer providing "snacks," which seemed to consist exclusively of the candy, cookies, and ice cream novelties they also offered at the hotel desk. I've stayed in SF on numerous occasions over the years, for work and on vacation. We chose the VIA because of it's proximity to Oracle Park and our lack of familiarity with the South Beach part of town. In retrospect, it would have been less expensive to stay in the Downtown Hilton or a similar property and to take Uber or public transportation to and from the games, and much more satisfying in terms of room quality and the amenities offered. As a final indignity, when we returned home, I discovered I had been charged an additional $1 for each room key we failed to return to the front desk, despite formally checking out. This is a small amount of money compared to the considerable expense we incurred staying at the VIA. it's not the money. It's the thought that counts. I will not stay here again, nor can I recommend it.

Great hotel room and convenient for Giants game. Was looking forward to the rooftop bar after the game and it was awful. I thought it was for guest only. It was packed which I expected but the patrons were loud and kind of out of control. Im sure they were not guests as they did not check when you entered. The music so loud you can't hear each other unless you yell. The drinks were very good but we left after one as we couldn't hear each other. I won't go again

Stayed here for a night in the city after going to a concert. I had previously been to a rooftop party here so I was familiar with the location ahead of time. The area itself is a bit cleaner than some of the hotels off market street but at the same time it's kind of a food desert so something to keep in mind. Location was fairly easy to get to via public transportation which was a bonus. The room itself was fairly standard, not too big but reasonably comfy. One thing I found a little odd was the comforter was basically just covered by a flat sheet on the bottom and a flat sheet on the top, not a true comforter cover. We were only there for one night so it wasn't a huge deal, just odd. If you're going to a baseball game and want to spend the night, the location is perfect or if you're going to a concert at the midway it's close enough for public transpo. Other than that, it's a standard hotel for what we paid which was about $230 a night with taxes and fees.

$10 for TWO Jalapeño poppers is a crime, where do you guys get off? You think you could add a few crappy flowers to my plate and up charge the hell out of it? The bacon alone wouldn't add up to more than $2.50, what you guys are doing is equivalent to nazi Germany. I'm appalled. As a giants and a fan of SF, I gladly say to you - suck my nuggets. Change your prices and stop offering price-gouging food to your amazing customer. I would recommend others to spend their hard earned money, elsewhere! And the 3 loaded potato skins were cold :( what a loss

I booked a room a year in advance in preparation for All-Star Weekend 2025 in SF. I used a 3rd party vendor, and received confirmation of my reservation for which I had ALREADY PAID IN FULL. Fast forward a month later, and I receive the following message from the hotel: "We noticed this reservation for February 2025. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate this reservation. We have spoken to the Third Party already. We have no inventory available for these dates with the third party. We suggest you contact the third party and cancel the reservation ahead of time and book directly through our property. Eventually, the hotel will cancel the reservation. We are so sorry we are not able to accommodate this third party reservation." I attempted to book directly through the hotel and found that 1) the room PRICES HAD SKY-ROCKETED since I originally booked and 2) there were no longer any rooms available for my original dates. This seems like PRICE GOUGING and BAD BUSINESS to me. I should not be punished for planning ahead! If the inventory was not actually available, it should not have been made available on the Third Party platform in the first place. Now I am left with only exorbitantly-priced options in a city that is already very expensive. Take your good money elsewhere, folks!

This was our first time here and wanted to stay "near" The Chase Center for the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop Force Tour show. Drove right up. Valet had our name and took the car. Walked right up to the front desk and they had my name ready and had my key in minutes. Super easy. Stayed on the 7th floor and the room was SUPER QUIET. Slept like a baby every night. p.s. I gave it 5 stars, but because I am a design engineer, my OCD focuses on these little items: The bathroom door is a sliding door that doesn't close off the bathroom. And the shower is a walk-in shower but does not have a closing sliding door. Almost seems unfinished, but its my OCD.

Everyone was incredibly nice and greeted us everyone time we stepped into or out of the hotel. GREAT place to stay for catching a game or a concert nearby. ESPECIALLY loved Jose, our valet for the 2 days. He took great care of us and when we lost our ticket, he didn't blink an eye and helped us out. THANK YOU JOSE!

I'm not sure how this place has any positive reviews. It was overpriced and underwhelming. Maybe because there was a monster truck rally and a Warriors game but they hiked the prices up to almost $600 a night for a tiny room, no view, no breakfast, terrible service. Really one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Complete garbage.

Staff lacks communication. Tried to double charge us $75 for parking. Only one car per room for parking. Said we were there for two nights we only stayed for one night.

The hotel is nice and the staff is very friendly. The rooftop bar is small but OK, the downstairs lounge is busy after games at Oracle Park... Unfortunately the valet service at this hotel damaged our car, referred us to their insurance company, and then refused to pay for the damages. Parking in San Francisco is hard to get so you need a hotel with a responsible valet service especially for $70+ per night. I can not recommend Hotel Via anymore unfortunately.

If you're going to the game this place is amazing. Legit across the street. Little expensive. Good staff. Great views and the roof top bar is fantastic.

Located literally across street from Oracle Park... walking distance to everything for site-seeing. Hotel clean and modern. Under staff during our time. Parking $70 (ouch) a day and they have charging stations for electric vehicles. Rooms are small, no love seat or sofa. Definitely only for two people. Small computer desk and refrigerator. Tiny coffee maker, modern shower, small vanity, tons of towels. Climate controls ok. Most importantly, quiet. Not a peep from the other rooms, hallway etc. We stayed on the 9th floor. Ice machines on even # floors.... But floor 8 and floor 6 were broken. Staff was cordial and accommodating. Very personable rooftop bar open after 5 PM. Breathtaking views of the bay. Hope this helps.

Had the opportunity to stay here a few of weeks ago. I think the location is great, esp if you're attending an event or game at Oracle Park. The staff, majority were friendly. The lines were blurred on who is valet and who is working the front desk. I think they do both which was kind of confusing. It also led to longer wait times as one person grabbed the keys to get our car but instead of getting our car went right back to the front desk to help as a line had built up. A little weird and annoying. The room, as previously mentioned by others, are TINY. Although things appeared new/remodeled the walls had scuff marks and the carpet and chairs had visible stains. For a boutique hotel it could be cleaner. But I will say they are nice to extend your check out time! That was a great perk. Overall depending what you're looking for, this is a decent hotel.

Surprised by some less than 4 star reviews. We stayed two nights while attending a couple SF Giants games and a concert at Oracle. Valet parking took excellent care of my car (I'm extremely obsessive about my car!). Staff was excellent from the moment I pulled up to front doors. Front desk let us check in 4 hours early (!). Rooms are modern and clean. Nice size. Beds are comfortable (I never say this about hotel beds). Room temperature good. Has A/C which is not a given in the Bay Area. I've stayed in a lot of hotels but this hotel has the best sound proofing I've ever experienced. So quiet. Could not hear anything from other guests, only light traffic noise. Great rooftop bar that overlooks Oracle across the street. If I attend any events this is where I'm staying going forward. Highly recommend.

Never even got to book a room because I had to wait for a reservations manager to call me back. You'd think a hotel this expensive would have a better process for booking the Oracle Tours that they advertise on their website. Since the room is non refundable, I waited to book the room until I could confirm our tour- BUT the only way to book the tour is to call back on a weekday and leave a message for the Reservations Supervisor, and wait for them to call me back?? And 2 weeks later, they still never called back. I ended up finding a wayy cheaper and equally as nice hotel down the street.

This is my favorite second hotel in the area. Great location, room and lots it food options within walking distance. Felt very safe in the area. My car was actually valet in the garage next door. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I've already pre-booked for another stay.

Would 100% recommend if you are going to the city for a giants game. It is just a few steps away from Oracle Park. The hotel is very clean, the lobby is on the smaller side, the rooms are about $400 something a night depending whether it's a weekday or weekend. The rooms are very small and VERY HOT. I read a few of the reviews on here and yes they are accurate when it comes to the temperature in the room. Even with the AC on blast it still stayed at around 75 degrees. 4 stars for the convenient location. They also have a rooftop bar, hotel guests only. Beautiful views and great drinks. Plan ahead, it took us about an hour and a half to retrieve our car from valet after we had already checked out Sunday morning, It is extremely busy, check parking on the website because on game nights they charge extra for parking in their garage.

I booked this hotel on a Monday in April to go to a Giants game. 1,000$ a night, was it worth it? You decide. Pros: The view is amazing and can see the stadium from our room window. We got two free drink vouchers at the bar, the bar that is outside the hotel, it's not attached. Valet parking (charged 80$ because it was a game night) Room decor is up to date. 2-5min walk to the stadium, so no need to bother with an uber or Lyft. Cons: The room service is out sourced, might as well use your own doordash. Our phone broke so we couldn't call the front desks, we had to use our cellphones every time. There was mold on the shower floor tiles. I requested a view of the ballpark so we were at the end of the hall and someone left a bag of garbage in the hallway it must have been there awhile because it was making our hallway smell horrible, it was there during our whole stay. The rooftop had amazing views but we were not able to use the rooftop because they rent it out to businesses so that was a bummer.

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Via this weekend. it was very quiet, the bed was very comfortable and cushy and a wonderful shower and bathroom. I didn't get the chance to visit the rooftop bar but I will on my next trip. The desk clerk Carla was super helpful and welcoming. Much appreciated.

IMPECCABLE. Is my experience w Hotel Via. This is an excellent hotel with impeccable service, amenities, and facilities. Located right across from the ball park, this hotel is the perfect choice for baseball fans. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and everything was just seamless and perfect. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. From front desk, bell staff, to the roof deck... everyone greets you with a smile and are helpful. Inside the room, the beds are comfy with 4 fluffy pillows on each bed; bedding is of quality linen and mattress is comfy. They have a complimentary self service illy coffee machine inside the room and also morning coffee service in the lobby. Breakfast is also available for $17 in the morning at the hotel. I particularly love their Roof Top space... you get a great view of the ball park, the bay, the bridge and the city. Staff is super friendly at the Rood Top and you are welcome to come for a drink or just to hang out. While there's heaters all around the Roof Top already, the friendly staff will also offer you a blanket if you get cold up at the roof. So thoughtful! If you need easy access to the Peninsula, this hotel is just a stone-throw away from Hwy-280. However, I'd say this hotel is not the ideal location of a you are in town for some Union Sq shopping or Chinatown sightseeing... while very close in distance, it will take you easily 30-mins or more to make your way to downtown especially after 3pm once the commute hour starts. Overall a wonderful experience at Hotel Via. Highly recommended.

Stayed at Hotel Via overnight and it really wasnt the best for a "boutique hotel"! Checked in fri afternoon and it was odd that several things were troubling to us! 1) the bathroom door was sliding, but left a small crack / gap 2) the bathroom blower stayed on the whole time we were there 3) there was no shower door 4) the toilet paper holder kept falling off 5) the air conditioner sounded like a generator 6) there were stains in the green seats close to the window 7) there was no manual lighting, the master lighting was the only option to dim the lights. The only thing that was cool about it was the walk from oracle park after pride movie night! After pride movie night, we dropped off our stuff at the room and took the elevator to rooftop via, where we were hoping to get drinks! Heading up there ended up being a waste of time! It was open to hang out and chill, but no one was there to serve us drinks! For what we paid, and days leading up to a maskless pandemic, there are other value minded hotels with amenities with little to no issues. Though not every bar in most hotels aren't open, the other amenities make up for a lot of things that you would least expect go wrong in a "boutique hotel".

Had the Best time at Hotel Via. The staff is friendly the rooftop bar was cozy and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud. Rooms are quiet and proximity to Oracle park and delicious eateries was perfect. Pier 39 was just a quick Uber ride down the Embarcadero. Loved this place.

Stayed 2 nights for medical appts at the China Basin UCSF. Very pricy, but worth it for the convenience and on short notice. Great restaurants nearby. Oracle Park, marina, shopping. Even a Safeway grocery store! Would stay here again, if necessary, as most of the amenities were nice, comfortable, and every thing was VERY clean. The staff was excellent, and every one we encountered was cheerful, polite and helpful. There are several rooftop open areas to view parts of the city and nearby skylines. The hotel's rooftop offers a bar and beautiful seating areas, unless there is a private event... Then, no access, except in the closed in bar area. There were private events both nights we were there, Tuesday and Wednesday. Did I mention valet parking??? In this neighborhood, it's a real plus!!! There are some cons. Expensive!!! Not truly 5 Star or boutique quality. Most rooms have views of rooftops, massive compressors, and brick walls. Or alleys filled with trash/recycling bins. The compressors and utility generators nearby are VERY loud and run 24/7. We used ear plugs to sleep, the noise comes right through the outside walls! The lighting is set up stupidly. All or nothing. The ventilation fan in the bathroom did not work. (We rather liked the sliding barn type door, although I saw many complaints about them) Again, the lighting is terrible- either all the lights on, or none. Makes nighttime bathroom visits inconvenient for any one else in the room. No bidet toilets. Big disappointment, as we are used to this luxury and it was mentioned on their website as an amenity. So, all said, for the convenience, we would stay here again.

We loved this hotel, bright, fresh, clean! We came after they had recently reopened from covid, and had a bare minimum staff, meaning some services weren't available like room service, house keeping was also only every 3 days. The place felt a little deserted, but that is okay, it made us feel very special. Valet is $60, but considering that is maybe $10 more than most other places in town, and you actually get to pull off into an alley and are out of the way, and not stressed about being double parked or taking a lane while unloading the car, its worth it. The hotel feels very modern, elegant, and clean and the roof top bar is also a huge bonus. They have fire pits and blankets and a super great view. Not to mention really amazing service from the bar tenders. Due to covid, the restaurant was closed and so we never did try any food. The room is high tech with a tablet that lets you control room temperature, lights and even has streaming services. Additionally you can connect to the tv in the room and stream from your phone, which I haven't experienced in a hotel yet. This works out best for us as we don't use cable or satellite and prefer watching our streaming channels instead. The bathroom door is a slider (think barn door style) door, so yes, if you need to take a duke with someone who isn't that familiar with you, I suggest going to the bathrooms on the rooftop or on the first floor (I think you need your room key for those). I am not sure if this hotel is normally only around $170/night for a queen suite with a view or not, but if so, that is extremely comparable to other much less clean places in SF. We have decided this is our go to hotel from now on. Its not far from the embarcadero, china town or even little Italy. And easy to hit the freeway when leaving.

The stay was amazing until my partner and I woke up to a multitude of bed bug bites. I reached out to the hotel about our concerns/how things could be made right to ensure this doesn't happen to more guests, but after a week I never heard a word back. ***I heard back after creating this review, they apologized for not replying and explained they found no bugs upon inspection*** It's really quite a shame because we would have recommended this place/stayed again if they even just apologized immediately for the incident.
