"The third-floor rooftop terrace of the Catahoula Hotel is less about the panoramic views of the city taller spots around town offer and more about its lush, hideaway vibe and elegant wood decor. The tropical oasis includes a Peruvian flavor-influenced cocktail menu heavy on pisco, rum, and mezcal, courtesy of Odd Birds, the Florida-born bar now taking up residency at the hotel. Fuel up on arepas, yucca fries, and empanadas." - Clair Lorell

Yelp
I booked this hotel with friends for the last weekend in October. They just canceled on us due to "undergoing a change in management" and being unable to somehow keep our reservation AKA "Taylor Swift is in town and we are going to try to scrape every penny we can from people". On top of that, they said that any amounts of money prepaid to hotel will not be reimbursed immediately, and they will pay you when they are able to do so. This is an absolute scam.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! From the suites to the apartment,It's clean and safe! It had nice views and the bed was soft! It's close to everything from the public transportation to cheap Uber fares to bourbon st or French quarter. The front desk receptionist was nice and made sure everything went good during my visit. I would for sure come back.

Yelp
Such a cute hotel! Would absolutely recommend staying here. When we arrived there was some confusion with our reservation Lashonda was absolutely wonderful in assisting us! She was so kind and knowledgeable, she even personally showed us our room! Inside is just the cutest rooms, and so clean! Really centrally located, without being too "in the action. Pretty quiet evenings, and the neighborhood is cute too! 10/10 would recommend for your NOLA adventure (Ask for Lashonda she's the best!)

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK HERE! We drove 14 hours with a confirmed paid reservation and they told us the payment went to the old owners and they do not have a room for us even though we booked 2 months ahead of our trip!! We had to drag out luggage several blocks over to find a hotel that had available rooms!! several others in the lobby dealing with the same issue as us! This place is a joke didn't offer any refund to dispute with bank and could do nothing for us bc they had other who booked after us take the rooms!

Yelp
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! Do not stay here. Dirty, nasty, noise from the A/C all night. The smell is horrible, wanted to give us a shared bathroom, which they knew we hadn't booked. Room was not cleaned when we went in. Was told they were short handed. We waited hours for them to give us another room. We tried booking at another hotels but everything was booked. (French Quarter Festival weekend) I can go on and on, will not waste my time, it would be a whole novel. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! Do not stay here. Dirty, nasty, noise from the A/C. all night. I can go on and on, will not waste my time it would be a whole novel.

Yelp
This hotel is in the middle of a remodeling and will have a working phone number shortly. The hotel is UNDER NEW OWNERS. The staff is working with what they have until the contractors can fix everything up. Now, if they can get the rest of the place level of the lobby. The Dimond in the Ruff will shine once more. Making it a sparkling jewel of NEW ORLEANS once more. No, I'm not one of the owners. Just a person who cares about making the yesteryears coming back to life. LONG LIVE PURPLE, GREEN AND GOLD, BABY

Yelp
Obviously, this hotel is terrible, considering all the other reviews. But I want to emphasize how horrendous the customer service was, and how unresponsive the manager, Alejandro Arana, is when it comes to resolving these issues. The room didn't even seem to be up to code. The smoke alarm had been ripped out of the ceiling. One of the nights, there was a disturbance outside of our room with some guy yelling, and as a female it made me feel very unsafe. We SPECIFICALLY booked this hotel because they claimed they had a taxi service. They lied. The hotel left us stranded at the airport at 1am without a taxi - even though we called and spoke to Harold and Lucas multiple times in the weeks leading up to the booking and they confirmed a taxi would be ready for us. Housekeeping somehow missed our room 2 of the 3 days we were there, and one of the receptionists blamed us for not "putting in a request". Even though we left the sign on the door requesting it. We feel like we got scammed - according to state law, a hotel room is supposed to be up to code, clean, and safe. This hotel was none of those things. It's been over a week and the manager Alejandro has yet to respond to us, so we will be filing a dispute with our bank.

Yelp
Very misleading. No bar, website advertised that there was, no rooftop events, no restaurant. We booked here thinking we had these amenities and they don't. We found out at CHECK OUT that they are going through a change of management. We arrived into our room and the AC didn't work, they had a box fan running. MOLD ON CEILING! (Rm 30)The air was so thick of the smell of mold. I am pregnant and have athsma. They never made us aware that they were going through a change and no amenities/bar would be available. They ended up moving us to one of the apartment suits. The elevator didn't work, atleast this room had ac and no smell of mold. The king bed had no sheets or blankets, no one brought anything to us. We had to walk downstairs and get sheets ourselves. A ceiling light was hanging it of the ceiling by the wires, tv didn't work, couch was dirty, floor was sticky everywhere, the fridge was rusted, made the bed ourselves and the sheets were for a queen size bed and not king. No house keeping to give us extra towels.. Don't waste your money here!

Yelp
A room was booked at the hotel for 11/1/24-11/3/24. The room was falsely advertised online. After we paid for our room we were told it was a shared living space (never advised as this). The door to our shared living space would not lock and the space could be accessed by anyone off the street. We were told we would receive a refund and we never did.

Yelp
Booked this hotel on a whim, & so happy I did. What a wonderful find for a great price, & I even paid a bit extra for their top suite. Still affordable for the location. My fiancé & I stayed for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday, and we wanted to be able to walk to everything. This place was perfect, no more than 20 minutes away from the classic New Orleans sights. It was noisy some mornings, but I think that's just the price you pay to stay in the city. TV didn't have cable but we were able to log into a couple streaming services so no big deal for us. Shower was gorgeous but pressure was only eh. The room itself was very modern and photographable, although one of the shades on our two large window would not rise. No biggie. People at the front desk were always present and super friendly, and had some great breakfast recommendations. All in all, a fantastic trip. I would definitely book here again.

Yelp
This is only in regards to the rooftop bar portion of the hotel. I went to the rooftop bar ordering one glass of la Marx's per usual. I was charged $15 for a single glass. (Usually it is $11) Knowing the pricing as I am a regular I inquired to which I was given an attitude and had my $85 changed slammed on the bar. Nonetheless Catahoula has lost a weekly customer. Thanks for listening. I was there Friday 11/10 6pm

Yelp
Booked the suite, was "upgraded" to the 1 bedroom apartment. Was not an upgrade - for the money I spent on 2 nights, I could have gotten a better room for half the price across the street at the Fairfield. There was no furniture to put clothes away in the bedroom and there was no suitcase rack. There was also no tv in the bedroom. There was a plug and cable jack where one used to be. The pictures show the overall condition of the apartment. The tub/shower would have been nice, except that the tub drain plug didn't work, so you could only take a shower and not a bath. The condition of the tub & furniture & fridge were all conditions that had existed a while - none of this damage was new. I tried to speak to a manager on checkout, but he wasn't available. I left my contact info, but no call back. I called a few days later, left my name and number again, no call back. Overall, I'd go to one of the many better options in the area.

Yelp
ZERO STARS. Selena Catahoula New Orelans/Selena Hospitality Group WILL NOT RESPOND AND WILL NOT ISSUE THE REFUNDS WE DESERVE. DO NOT BOOK!!!! Me and my friends booked three rooms at this hotel almost a year ago for the Taylor Swift concert (Booked Oct 25, 2023). We had a great rate and were happy with the proximity to the super dome. When we originally booked, we reserved the rooms with no issues, then a few months later in December 2023 we received an email stating that in order to confirm our reservation we would need to pay for one full nights stay in advance. This seemed a little shady but we all paid. Now a couple of weeks ago (August 28, 2024), we get an email from Selena "Reservations USA" stating that our reservation had been cancelled due to "new management". We all called the hotel and got three different answers. I was told that we would get an email the following day with a re-booking link to book our room again at the SAME rate, however we would have to pay again, before we got our refunds. We never got an email to rebook. So a few days later I call again and the staff member tells me that I will not be able to rebook at the same rate and that the new rate is triple the price I paid. She also didn't know when we would get refunds....So another week goes by and we get an email from the hotel saying that we will get refunds at some point, then the following day we receive an email from the GM saying that it is his last day with the company. I reply to all of these emails and get no response. I have attempted to contact the Selena Hotel Corporation and the "contact us" page is down and when you call the number it sends you to a message and then disconnects. So in the end we are out a combined $1000 and had to book a new hotel that was absurdly overpriced because obviously any hotel in the New Orleans metro area is going to be priced sky high when booking two months out for the Taylor Swift concert weekend...thats why we booked a year out to avoid this issue! What a joke this has been.

Yelp
Receptionist is rude as heck, tv doesn't work and he can't help us or figure out why- says he's not a tv guy, the ac is so loud we can't use it bc then we can't sleep, no hot water, the bed is comfy and this place has potential- but it's like a hostel and you have to share a bathroom with guests. Don't stay here.

R W.

Yelp
My recent stay in NOLA was great. This "hotel" was NOT. This is a warning to AVOID this location. Let's see = They give you a key fob to use on the outside entrance. Secure right? NOPE that door is busted so 98% of the time it can just be opened by anyone. The lock on the unit itself is a sliding lock (safe and unbreakable... yeah, no) They do not take any of the trash from your place, bring clean towels or change/make the bedding. More broken stuff = The bed was broken, the handle on the microwave was broken, the one massive window in the main living room of the unit had a busted lock...This is the same window that leads out to a shared balcony so if you wanted to feel safe while you sleep or safeguard your belonging while gone then good luck. The curtains have been sliced (unevenly) down the middle for access to the moldy air conditioning unit so trashy AF. There is a nice glass shower and if you like a final foot soak you can get one when you step out of the shower since there is nothing preventing the water from leaking out onto the floor. If it rains, you'll see water coming inside from that same window. Oh yeah and the ceiling in the bathroom is painted a dark blue because it also f'in leaks when it rains. Don't bother letting the front desk know because they don't care about you checking in or out or anything else during your stay. Stay ANYWHERE else.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the advertising it's all false marketing and complete waste of time and money...So i was suppose to stay here this weekend and i had to cancel and i ended at holiday express behind it because what i booked for and what i got was ridiculous & yes i might have gotten a deal on Priceline. The listing should say hostel bc they placed me at catahoula flats which seemed to be old apartments and rented out rooms and we'd have to share a bathroom. I almost settled on that but then i realized the bathroom had a broken sliding door access to another room and i didnt feel safe staying there and using the public bathroom. My room also just had a bed frame and a cool rug and that's it. No tv as listed and or hangers just a small closet. I wish the listing had the correct description on add or i wouldnt have proceeded with my booking. They couldn't offer a room transfer. Here's some pictures to show what was listed and what i received. I was very fortunate to book at holiday inn express behind it. I felt safe and had privacy. I didnt let this damper my night we did try the odd bird bar at night which was ok. But i was just so disappointed i didnt get anymore help. I also emailed management and still response. The owner seemed to care more about event happening the next day. It was my first time in New Orleans and i wanted to experience in a beautiful hotel. Oh

Kate C.

Yelp
We got in late, and the first room we were given wasn't locked. Once opening the door the bed had definitely been slept in, garbage was full, and shower was wet. Went back to the front desk, and he then tried multiple other rooms before assigning us to another. We get settled in, go to shower, and there was no hot water. Not exactly fun to deal with at 2am after a 7 hour drive Needless to say, we canceled the remainder of our stay and found a new place, that was a little cheaper and muuuuuch nicer.

Hong P.

Yelp
I stayed a couple of nights here. I got a room right behind the front desk and it was fairy small. Most of it was pretty clean but a bit worn down. There was mold growing in the ceiling of the bathroom and there were lots of little flys everywhere. The showering area had no hot water. I tried for about 5 mins to get hot water and it was cold cold cold. I guess it's okay if you want to stay here but can get a slightly nicer place for $5-10 a night at a different hotel.

Yelp
I went durring jazz fest and it was everything I could've asked for. The front dest manager Jay made my experience feel at ease and helped with great referrals when the festival activities didn't have my time. And it's in a great location! Give it a chance when in New Orleans. Thanks guys

Yelp
They do not provide blankets. They said they do not have blankets and gave me an attitude when I asked for one a 2nd time. They fail to tell you that they have DJ parties in the courtyard of the hotel directly outside your room. This happened on a Sunday night and the didnt end until after 11:15am. Rooms are small and cramped and the walls, windows and doors are paper thin

Joe G.

Yelp
I'm confused why Selina is operating a hotel here. Their brand is a hostel, not a hotel. This is not a place to meet people it's just a place to sleep and this is overpriced because that's it's only value.

Silvia D.

Yelp
TWO WORDS: CHEF DANIEL. Five stars for this gentleman alone. Yes, the hotel is cute and quaint with lots of character, but you will find that many hotels have these characteristics in NOLA... HOWEVER.... NOT ALL have CHEF Daniel. SUCH A TALENTED INDIVIDUAL with so much passion put into his edible creations. One of my favorites was the TOSTADA. OH.MY.NOTHING BUT GOODNESS. It was by far the best ceviche I have ever had. It was as if chef Daniel was synced with my tastebuds. I stopped by every single night to eat this little piece of Mexican dish heaven... Or at least I tried....which brings me to problem number one. PROBLEM NUMBER ONE: they rent out their lobby which makes it impossible for guests who are staying at the hotel to enjoy the full benefits. Now when you have a chef who creates delicious combinations and you want to take full advantage, it becomes an unfortunate event for guests. PROBLEM NUMBER TWO: when we presented a problem we were having with TWO of our rooms to the front desk, NOTHING was done about it... There wasn't an, "I'm so sorry, let me see what I can do about it," but there was however an "Oh yes, we already know about it" response... The issue was simply brushed under the "Oh well" rug and left at that. After looking through the pictures here on yelp, I realized that we probably stayed in two of the smallest rooms that they had to offer, which was totally fine with me, but buyer beware lol. It was maybe a 10x10 room with a queen bed in the middle and two feet of walking space around it with an added walk in shower and separate toilet room/closet (I say closet as a joke, but YES, there was a rod sitting above the toilet with hangers at your disposal). No closet in the room or drawers for you to unpack. You live out of your suitcase or hang what ever you can on hooks placed throughout the small room. In all, the theme of the hotel was modern chic. Would I stay here again... Maybe. The ONLY definite thing is that you must stop by here, if anything and if available, and try one of chef Daniel's delicious combinations. THE ROOF TOP BAR IS ALSO A MUST DO.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for 3 days, staff was very nice however we didn't have a good experience. Our room had a rinsing cup and it had a bunch of bugs in it. Which I get the location and weather, it's inevitable for bugs to come inside but for them not to even check it? Only means they didn't even clean our room right. Oh but theres a note saying they can do room service at a charge. Since when? Also our sheets had blood on them we didn't realize it till our last day. We went to the front desk to ask for towels and they gave us a stained towel. Lastly they take a $100 deposit but it's been 21 days since I checked out and haven't got it back. Keep calling them but they keep telling me it's my bank. Which makes no sense cause I've booked hotels and I have never had this problem before. Like I said cute hotel, very cozy but it just wasn't worth it for me.

Irene K.

Yelp
Had the most amazing experience!! Location was incredible downtown right in the middle of everything. Staff was so accommodating to all of our needs especially Jay!! Very grateful for our encounters with him and SO happy we decided to stay here!

San T.

Yelp
Stayed during a layover, the staff was really nice. The beds are comfy. I have no complaints, I would definitely stay there again.

Yelp
OMG DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! RUN AWAY!!!! I am honestly floored by how weird and bad our experience was here. We arrived pretty late (past midnight but we'd called ahead to let them know we'd be checking in late) only for the front desk attendant to say he had "misplaced our key," and spent 20 minutes looking for it. We finally got our room, which we had booked through Priceline as a "standard twin," advertised as having two twin beds. The room they gave us had one double bed. I went down to ask about it and was told there were "no twin rooms available tonight." It was okay, we decided we didn't mind and would stick it out (it was also 1am at this point and we were pretty tired from travel). We woke up to a puddle of standing water in our room, and discovered our AC unit was actively leaking onto the floor. We went down to the front desk and asked first if there were any twin rooms available for the next couple nights. The man at the desk (who was lovely and much kinder than the nighttime attendant), told us there were no twin rooms at all, period. The room that was advertised on Priceline and that we had booked literally doesn't exist. We were confused? But we're still okay to stick it out. We told the front desk about the puddle/leaky AC and they said they'd send someone to look at it. We went out to a museum and came back around 3:30. There was no one at the front desk, and a bunch of different guests waiting to check in. We went up to our room and the AC was still leaking and there was still a puddle. We went down to the desk to see if they could give us a new room and there was still no one at the desk. We waited a FULL HOUR all the while guests were accumulating waiting for assistance. Finally, we decided to contact Priceline to request a refund because there was literally no staff in the hotel so we couldn't get any help. Priceline attempted to contact the hotel to get a refund or at least cancel the remaining nights on our reservation, but couldn't get ahold of someone after calling 3 times. They said they couldn't help us until they could contact the hotel. Eventually we just left our key with a note and left for a different hotel. At this point there hadn't been anyone at the desk for over two hours. I'm baffled at how shockingly bad this experience was, frankly. I was traveling with my sister, we're both teachers who had long weekends away from kids and spent money on this hotel because the vibe and pictures looked really nice! We only had a couple days in New Orleans and it was a bummer to spend hours of that time waiting for someone to show up at the front desk of our hotel. We ended up relocating to the Hotel Indigo and it was SO GREAT! Shoutout to Hotel Indigo, everybody should go there and not to this hotel!!! We're still trying to get some money back but literally can't get in touch with a single employee at this hotel.

Robin H.

Yelp
We stayed for 3 days and loved staying at this hotel. The rooms are not fancy but the king size bed was super comfy and we had everything we needed. The staff are all on point yet not intrusive. There is also the friendliness kitty on the premises that you will see hanging out in the lobby. The hotel is in a great location and very close to everything. We would definitely refer anyone here and would stay again.

Yelp
Was misled, cheated off money, and dismissed here at the Selina Catahoula hotel. We finished our stay two days ago. I had reserved an upgraded room called 'The Suite' because there was a sale on the selina.com website. I received an email confirmation for the room as well. When we arrive, I noticed the room doesn't look like what I booked and I bring up my concern with the only staff available. He tells me that he has me written for a downgraded room instead. I bring up my confirmation email, which he completely disregarded. Like completely ignored, he barely even look at it. Instead, he tells me that the "price I paid is definitely not the room I reserved--it would be more expensive", that I "100%" belong in this other smaller downgraded room, and that the "error was due to third party booking". I tried to reason with him to no avail. I tell him I booked directly on Selina's website during a sale, but he was adamant. My proof of confirmation email and receipt for 'The Suite' was useless here. There was no reasoning to be done with this staff. It was made abundantly clear that he would not do anything about the mismatch between my reservation and the room he gave me. It was late, I was tired, and mostly I just wanted to enjoy my only vacation for the year, so I forget about it. We ended up staying in the much smaller downgraded room for a week despite already paying for the larger nicer better room. Now that I'm back home and rechecked the website, I can now say with confidence that I ended up staying in Selina's most basic room despite paying for one of the more expensive larger rooms. One star for stealing my money, false advertising, and giving no attempt to own up to their mistake. I almost never give bad reviews, but this one just literally scammed me. Additional notes for future guests: 1) There will be a foreign transaction fee if you book on selina's website. Use a travel credit card when booking. 2) For every four times you call the hotel, you will reach a real person once. Keep trying, someone does exist on the other line. 3) They are pet friendly. Lots of pets to bump into during your stay. 4) There are also bugs crawling in the room. Super entertaining for my cats, but you might be less than amused with them. 5) No fridge or microwave in the room. 6) Room service is $30 per night if you want/need it. Bathrooms will inherently feel dirty just because of the wooden slats on the floor. 7) Whatever outdoor balcony was advertised for the room, it's just a space barely big enough to fit two chairs and a table. It's also enclosed by a twelve foot tall brick wall on three sides so don't expect a view of any kind. 8) Walls are thin. We were lucky to have considerate neighbors, but I could hear their phone ring pretty loudly when their alarm went off. Also barking dogs. And if you happen to be located below the rooftop bar during a busy time, that will be really loud. 9) There is no parking associated with the hotel. Street parking is $6 per 2 hours during the daytime, but free at night and holidays. The garage they'll send you to will be $20-25 per day. 10) You don't need a car to get to all the fun stuff in the city from this hotel. Good location. 11) Sure, this hotel is a bit more aesthetically chic and hipster than standard. Visually pleasant. 12) LASTLY, DOUBLE CHECK THAT THE ROOM YOU RESERVED IS THE ROOM YOU RECEIVE. Please please please advocate for yourself much harder than I did. I would hate if others were unknowingly staying in downgraded rooms after paying extra. Learn from my experience.

Yelp
While at Selina New Orleans we experienced many things that would not indicate that the hotel is a boutique experience or worth the cost that we paid. Upon arriving we were told that masking and COVID protocols were required. Yet every single staff member did not follow any protocol, no one was ever masked and rooms were never cleaned. We were surprised that we were asked to adhere to these protocols and even told that the rooms will not be cleaned to "protect staff" when the staff was doing nothing to actually protect themselves. Because of this our room was really dirty, the bathroom had filth in the corners, the shower was caked in dirt and black mold on the wooden flooring (which was broken). The rug was covered in dirt, not vacuumed and was crusty. The overall experience of our room was extremely disappointing. We wanted to stay at the boutique hotel for a romantic experience and the rooms were small, poorly decorated, had no view as advertised, had broken accessories and were really filthy. The walls were smudged, scuffed and had dents in them, the curtain rods were cheap and bent, the lighting in the room was very white and bright like a hospital and the bed didn't even have a fitted sheet. They were two top sheets that were too small for the bed and couldn't even be tucked in, half way through the night we'd be sleeping on the bare mattress foam. On top of that we were expected to pay $30-$40 per day for full cleaning service or $10 just to get fresh towels and trash removal. This is really unfair and made the experience very unpleasant. We would work most days before going out and there would be a complimentary coffee and a couple yogurts out. The creamer/milk, all 4 days we were there, was expired by weeks. We'd look at it and see staff turn the label around periodically to hide it from guests, that's really disgusting. Lastly we paid for our deluxe rooms and expected to stay in a boutique hotel with a cool restaurant and rooftop bar. No where on the website did Selina advertise that the restaurant and rooftop bar had been closed for months. We feel like we've been lied to and defrauded as none of this was shown online during the booking process. We literally paid to stay here for amenities that Selina New Orleans hasn't been providing for months and per staff "won't be open for months to come". Also there was a wedding reception the last night we were there and went almost 2hrs over quiet hours when the walls were very thin and we heard stomping until after midnight. None of this was enjoyable. Only plus was the wifi was strong enough in the cafe to get some work done.

Yelp
8 day stay here! Hospitality was wonderful, I felt very accommodated. Rooms were intimate and had everything you needed, I recommend room 18 for a balcony view! Love that they are pet friendly and the working space downstairs was wonderful. It rained a few days during the stay, so there were a few times where I worked downstairs from the cozy space near the bar. Will be checking out their other locations as well as re- visiting if I'm ever in New Orleans again. Thank you Catahoula for going above and beyond for your guests!

Yelp
Looked very cute & since the outside says 'Cafe' I thought I'd stop to get a cup of coffee. Walked into a very quaint cozy boutique hotel! I'd like to maybe stay in. I saw muffins in a glass cover on the bar of the cafe so asked the receptionist if they were opened. Instead of saying they open at night now only, she says 'they been closed for a long time now.' Later that night, I met some friends who took me to the exact same place for cocktails. The Cafe turned into a bar. If they hadn't I would've posted under my review on the coffee shop that they were closed.

Yelp
My friends and I didn't actually stay at this hotel but we were able to store our bags here until our Airbnb next door was ready. The two people working the front desk were so nice and encouraged us to hang out in the lobby, use the bathroom and charge our phones. We truly appreciate that! We got into town Friday morning and our Airbnb wasn't ready until Friday evening so allowing us to store our bags gave us the freedom to explore the city all day! The lobby is super cute and cozy. I loved the decorations. I would recommend this hotel based off of customer service alone

Yelp
Boutique style hipster hotel tucked into a side street in The central business district offers small, spartan, contemporary rooms with a fun vibe and crisp surfaces. Cons: cleanliness and lack of customer service attention. I was surprised by the super casual staff behind the desk when I came to check in. Couple of guys in baseball shirts and shorts eating wings behind the counter - didn't know that they were the staff. They answered my request to check in between bites, then checked me in as the wrong guest. There are quirks here- but this is the French quarter in Nola, so we should expect and accept some of that. The toilet in the closet surprised me. Not sure I want to hang my clothes directly over the commode. See the pictures below if you don't believe me. The sink over on the wall by the bed and the cement floors reminded me of some old school dormitories I have been in many years ago in the Northeast. Open brick, old black and white tile, Ferns and greenery pleasantly line the open corridors and occasional courtyards on the first floor of this hotel. The rooftop bar overlooks office building. But looks like a fun and inviting space for either coffee in the morning, which by the way is complementary and self serve at the bar on the first floor, or for drinks at night. But there cleanliness problems here as well as with the courtyards where floors are very dirty and they serve mostly as smoking areas for employees.

Yelp
Poor Rooms, Poor Service, Poor Experience To begin, we made reservations over 6 months in advance for our daughter's wedding in New Orleans. We contacted the hotel 2 weeks before our arrival date to request an early check in due to coming from out of town and needing to freshen up for the wedding rehearsal. We were told that it was unlikely we could get into our room before 4 pm due to the hotel being completely booked the night before and needing to get the rooms cleaned. I say this to note that when we checked into our room after 5 pm on the arrival date, the air conditioner in our suite did not work. One would think that if the suite were booked the night before, the facility would know the air conditioner was broken and would have arranged to have it fixed or move us to another suite. Alas, no, we were told there was no one to call to fix the AC and the suggestion was that we leave the balcony door open overnight (in warm, humid New Orleans?!). We asked to be moved. We were moved to a room from the suite. In the room, the television did not work. We were told that "people don't come there to watch television". We had a little time to kill between events and would have liked to watch tv. They said they did not have cable and usually have Roku devices hooked up to the tv, but that someone must have "taken" the remote control and they did not have extras. We asked for our bill (we paid for the suite 6 months in advance) to be adjusted and that we be refunded the difference in price from the suite to the room. We are still waiting for the refund over 2 weeks later. What should have been a fun and relaxing time, was met with frustration and discomfort at every turn. Another member of our wedding party had rented an apartment unit and also did not have air conditioning. One would think that they would have checked the basics before we checked in. We definitely do not recommend this hotel!

Yelp
Selina Catahoula is a total vibe and I loved it! The staff was super friendly, especially Jay who was incredibly patient with me and my concern about the heat my first night. It was taken care of and I comfortably enjoyed my stay. The balcony is great, the rooftop is a bonus, location is close enough but not too close to the ruckus on Bourbon. Overall great visit!

Yelp
We decided to stay another night in New Orleans and found this location on air bnb. It's very nice in the lobby and bar is very nice and has some of the best cocktails. What was weird was the front desk told us they close at 11 however we were left sitting alone by 7:30pm due to a comedy show upstairs? When I asked about the show and if we needed tickets the front desk seemed like they had no idea. So instead of staying in and ordering dinner at the hotel restaurant we had to go to dinner elsewhere. As far as the room goes the air conditioner does not work at all and we are currently sweating to death. It's on full speed and coldest it can be and nothing. The room is as big as a very small bedroom so the air conditioner they have should be able to cool this room with no issue. It's currently 90 degrees in New Orleans and this is not cooling the room at all .The shower has wooden slats on the floor and when you turn the water on there's a horrible rotting smell. I personally have a wooden shower at home and it needs to be cleaned weekly or else it starts to smell. This tells me it hasn't been cleaned in probably months. Also the sink in the room has a huge crack in it . Why is my room $150 and has all these issues which can be fixed easily . It's nice looking on the outside but I would not recommend this hotel ever .

Yelp
We just checked in and the following has transpired: 1. The wash towels in the bathroom are soaking wet and used, housekeeping didn't even change them. 2. The previous occupants leftovers are sitting on the table, no one bothered to throw them out. 3. I requested a different toom and was told they were sold out. I am more than disappointed with my treatment here and will never recommend this hotel ever. Also the rooms are super small.

Yelp
A-OK all the way! This won't be my first choice for lodging next I visit New Orleans, but I was still comfortable enough and enjoyed my stay. Let's get the not-so-great stuff out of the way. The rooms seem to have a few issues. The shower has funky/inconsistent water pressure and the soaps are weirdly tiny. I know it's humid in these parts, but my room was exceptionally humid even on not-so-humid-outside February days. Literally woke up damp in damp bed sheets with a foggy mirror and prune-y fingers. Like an actual sauna. The room did get nice and cold, however. My room was super tiny (which I'm sure contributed to the extra humid climate), but the size itself didn't bother me. Aesthetically speaking, I liked my room a lot! Concrete floors, exposed brick walls. This is a boutique hotel, a historic building (built in 1845), and it definitely has that old NOLA charm. That's what I wanted! The hotel bar is really rad, and the bartenders are on top of it. Really fun, laid back atmosphere. And the food is beautiful and fresh! Gorgeous patio outside, plus a sexy rooftop patio. Can't go wrong with a drink on the roof, can you? This hotel is walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and bars and shopping and goodies. Loved the location, the decor, the bar, the food. And definitely appreciated the staff, above all. They were sweet, welcoming, casual, and helpful from check-in to check-out, and that's the most important thing!

Yelp
What I loved about this hotel: +The friendly, accommodating & accommodating front desk people! The bartenders in the cafe/bar are the best (they make you feel like you're a regular, even if you're a traveler. In addition to being mixologists with the mostest, they are expert baristas too!) So kudos to the customer service at the Catahoula! +the environs and overall vibe. Sitting in the lobby is extremely comfortable and walking the grounds will have you admiring the ultra modern aesthetic that's not terribly common in our city that time forgot. Love the concrete floors and urban chic tropical courtyard where we had a group dinner one evening. The rooftop bar is idyllic, though I sadly didn't get to enjoy a drink up there because weather wasn't permitting when I had the time. +rate is reasonable, considering time of year and comparable rooms in the area +very comfortable bed and nice linens +my room had a private balcony which was really nice! +loved all the drink and snack options in keeping with the Latin American tropical theme of the hotel. What I didn't love: -there could be a good deal more attention to detail. There was a large dead roach outside of my coworker's room for two days before she went to ask that it be removed. Her room was not in a hidden, out of the way area, but on the first floor and you'd have to pass it by to get to the other rooms. Not sure how it could have been overlooked. There was a smushed mosquito hawk right next to my room door (very noticeable) that was never removed. My room didn't have washcloths, so that was an oversight until the second day. -my other coworker encountered a dead roach in her room. I live in NOLA and honestly this time of year you don't see a lot of these things, so if you're easily freaked out by our city's mascot, be sure and stay on a higher floor, *especially in the summer* (and as much as I hate chemicals, exterminators need to do a better job). -a warning about locking your door manually would have been nice. While I much prefer keys to magnetic cards, the door should lock automatically behind you as this is pretty universal these days, no? -little slivers of soap seem wasteful. Shower gel in a large container like the shampoo and condition would be preferable. -my rain shower was useless because there was one huge stream pouring out amongst the tiny stream. Again, attention to details. This is an easy fix. -poor lighting in the room (at least one lightbulb over the door leading into the room was out... again, attention to details). Finally, this isn't the hotel's fault but that construction across the street was a major drag for getting in and out of the hotel if you're lugging a lot of stuff around. I checked in with a lot of luggage and sundry items for my work conference and it was a pretty dreary experience. Thankfully I had help with me as they don't have bellhops to help you with this. So, while the construction is something the hotel cannot help, having an extra person or two to assist guests during these times would be ideal. The street was closed almost daily, requiring me to lug my stuff 1/2 a block to the corner where my Uber had to wait. I'd stay here again thanks to the lovely staff (seriously... they made our stay a memorable one).

Yelp
Surviving Catahoula! This place is horrid! It is very dingy and dirty! The staff are kind but clueless. I actually checked out earlier (3 days than I was suppose to so I ended up only staying one night). and stayed at a nearby hotel for the same price but much cleaner. There was dust and mold throughout the property and the room. The hotel has potential but it's ran down at this point and is in desperate need of repairs. The hotel has an open roof concept which causes water to settle in the walkway when it rains which staff does not mop the water. The shower was clogged and filthy. Overall it's not cheap enough to explain the condition. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache! Stay elsewhere. The cat in the lobby is cute but my boyfriend pointed out that it was there to keep the rodents away. See pics for more details!

Yelp
We came here because they have a bag check on Bag BnB...these people were awesome...so friendly and accommodating while we were stuck trying to get home to Florida during a hurricane!!! Highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
No one was at the desk to check us in for about 10 minutes. Not a big deal honestly, but would have been nice to have been welcomed by someone. We were put in a room on the 2nd floor directly under the rooftop bar which was incredibly loud. It's supposed to close at 10pm but we heard people until midnight and then were woken up at 2:45am by more people moving about above us. Our room was half clean. There was no toilet paper and two pillows had some very disgusting stains on them. There was also a stain on the bedsheets and big hair in the middle of the bed when we pulled the sheets back. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week as well. The overall vibe of the hotel was cool. Very hip - like a hostel version on the Ace Hotel. I might go for a drink in the tiny bar attached to the lobby or on the rooftop bar, but would not recommend unless you're on a massive budget and found a great deal here for a night.

Yelp
I loved our stay at the Catahoula! The hotel is super chic and cute. I love the Peruvian theme and location. It's located in the Central Business District and within walking distance to the French Quarter. It's also close to the Streetcar stops and several good restaurants. The rooms are nice, but the shower is a bit odd. There's no door and you shower on wooden slats which was kind of cool - roomy but may be strange without a door and you're sharing the room with someone other than your sig other. I love the rooftop bar and downstairs bar too! Servers are great and friendly. The cocktails are delicious - loved the pisco sours. Didn't get to try the food, but I tried the coffee and that was strong and tasty.

Yelp
Staff was nice, but the hotel is RUNNED DOWN! for the price it's not worth it. Also parking is horrible!! There is none dedicated for this hotel alone! We got lucky with a spot right in front and free parking for the holiday but there aren't many places. Pretty crappy. It has so much potential but the staff who maintains it or cleans it is just not doing it! I tried to open the window cover to see outside but couldn't because it was just taped one there. Also paper thin walls, tiny room, and loud squeaky stairs. This places needs some tlc and it would be better! Their bed was very comfortable though and the shower and many areas to hang stuff came in handy. FYI they have a dog charge even though it's not posted on the third party website and employees don't notify you when you let them know when they call.

Yelp
Horrible Customer Service on a previous visit here. I called in advance to do a quick photoshoot, only to show up and be told that the area I had in mind to take photos was booked for a private event. Unfortunate because people have been asking me about this place and now I have to give negative reviews.

Yelp
Beautifully designed hotel with a seriously great pisco bar - that about sums up Catahoula. Not to mention the fact that it's in a wonderful, quiet location a stone's throw from the French Quarter. As someone who appreciates her sleep, I dig it! The rooms themselves are pretty bare bones - the shower (at least in my first floor room) is completely open and exposed to the rest of the room (like - no curtain to close) so this is probably not the best room to share with a friend. Still, while the room is tiny and typical for a boutique hotel, I'm not one to hang in my hotel room all day so it's a perfect place to catch a few zzz's and not much more... except a cocktail or two. About that - the lobby bar is just lovely. Perfect for a latte in the morning and an afternoon cocktail or nightcap. My favorite drink was the chinguerito with pisco, cinnamon, muddled grapes and lime, apparently inspired by the old Peruvian tradition of grape stomping parties. I'll take it! Upstairs, there's a rooftop bar with cocktails less my speed (more of a tiki/rum situation) but still a nice spot to sit and catch up on some work. Overall, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. What they lack in room amenities, they more than make up for in location and, well, cocktails!

Yelp
I stayed here for St. Patrick's Day weekend upon entering the room I did a usual check just to make sure everything was clean being that Covid it's pretty relevant in New Orleans still. And what I saw absolutely disgusted me, it was obvious the room was never cleaned prior to my arrival there was a lot of hair in the entrance to the shower that housekeeping just left out for me to find the sheets were stained along with the pillowcases as I took a closer look and pulled back the sheets I found fresh blood and urine stains all over the mattress I will provide pictures of both issues. All in all I would recommend finding anywhere else to stay and if you do make the very risky choice of choosing this hotel please make sure you bring your own sheets disinfectant wipes and check your mattress for blood and stains also be sure to check the shower for hair gnats and mold. Please protect your health and wallet at all costs and just go somewhere else

Yelp
This hotel has a lot of potential but does very poorly on the execution. The vibe and the ambience of the hotel is very cute. Very minimal but colorful at the same time. The location was very close to Canal and Bourbon so we that was a great plus to save on not driving everywhere. It was also far enough away were we didn't hear any craziness from the crowds. We arrived earlier than expected, and staff lets us keep our bag there while we explored and waited for our room was ready. The room was even prepared earlier than he told us which was very nice of the staff to do. The staff didn't do much else after that, they very chill, almost too chill. We past the desk a few times with the desk empty of the employee covered in a blanket watching tv or with their eyes closed. The two stars mainly come the cleanliness of the room itself, which is mainly why I stay in hotels. The room had scuff marks and DUST EVERYWHERE. Like a disgusting amount on the headboards, the phone, and especially the floor. We had to wash our feet multiple times after stepping around the floor barefoot. The room itself was kind of small but I didn't mind. There wasn't a shower curtain orthey just had wooden planks you stood on, so cleanliness was again questioned. The bed was clean I guess, if you move around in bed you could easily see stains on the mattress. Overall, the hotel was ok I wouldn't stay there again mainly just because it's just not clean. They need to sweep and mop the floors daily, as well as dust the rooms. Also consider putting up a shower rod and curtain.

Yelp
Not a good place for a girls trip. Minimal accommodations, too rustic! Staff very friendly and place was clean and quaint. I just prefer to have ready accommodations like a iron and a closet in my room. Room was wayyyy too small. $390 for one night! :( One window in room that faces a brick wall
