Soak in breathtaking LA skyline views while enjoying Jean-Georges' fusion of New American and Asian cuisine at this chic rooftop gem in the Waldorf Astoria.
"Pretty much everyone in the tri-county area is trying to score a table at Funke right now, and we don’t blame them. But if your patience is running thin, head up to the rooftop patio instead. The sprawling space is walk-in only, and we’ve never had a problem snagging a table or seat at the bar. While there are snack-y dishes like focaccia, burrata, and amberjack sashimi, we concentrate mostly on cocktails. The list skews classic with drinks like G&T’s, negronis, espresso martinis, and spitzes. In other words, what you want to drink as you watch the sunset over the Hollywood Hills." - brant cox
"Here’s the thing about the Rooftop By JG—it’s located on top of the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, which means a meal here will cost as much as it takes to keep that giant fountain at Wilshire and Santa Monica going year-round. And here’s the other thing about this place—it has one of the most objectively jaw-dropping views in the entire city. Your plan of attack when it comes to food? skip it. Head to the nearly 360-degree space for a few cocktails as the sun sets. It’s our go-to spot when we really want to show off the city to family and friends, but that said, we also leave with a little more love for LA, too. " - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"Sceney rooftops are as quintessentially LA as farmers’ markets overflowing with gorgeous produce. But this one, located on top of the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, offers some of the most impressive skyline views in the city. You’ll take a very shiny elevator up 12 floors to get here, and come face-to-face with a crowd that looks extremely ready for its close-up. The food here is fairly unremarkable (and expensive, obviously), so we recommend treating Rooftop by JG like a very luxurious bar, especially if you’re in the mood for sparkling wine or a martini at sunset. You will need a reservation for a table on weekends, but during weekday Happy Hour, the place is usually wide open for walk-ins." - brant cox, nikko duren, garrett snyder, sylvio martins
"Views, views, and more views. Outside of laying on the beach and seeing a celebrity at the grocery store, it’s the most common request from LA visitors. Go big and take them to Rooftop at JG. From the 360-degree terrace on top of the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, you can see the Hollywood Hills, downtown, the ocean, and if the smog is cooperating, Mt. Baldy. All the food is wildly mediocre and overpriced, so just do what we do and skip it entirely. Instead, plan to come for a cocktail as the sun sets and head to Dan Tana’s down the street for chicken parm. " - brant cox
"Here’s the thing about the Rooftop By JG—it’s located on top of the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, which means by just breathing here, you’ll probably get charged $20. But it also has one of the most jaw-dropping views in the city. Skip the food and head to the nearly 360-degree space for a few cocktails as the sun sets. It’s our go-to spot when we really want to show off the city to visiting family and friends." - brant cox
