Sam the bartender said she just started and was wonderful!! She made two out of towners feel right home I highly recommend this spot. If Sam is working you’re in luck!! Hoosier hospitality at its finest!

The food here was amazing!! they gave us extra everything and the food is priced so well! the drinks are great and not overpowering at all, and the bartenders are very nice :) the atmosphere is great slow music but good music good vibes, great views overlooking the city, and comfy patio seating! we loved it!! two drinks and appetizers and meals for both my boyfriend and I, was about $100!

Go here for the beautiful rooftop view of Downtown Indianapolis. We got some great photos and had a fun time! The drinks are good. I enjoyed their summer specials. They’re also doing a good job of monitoring capacity and ensuring spacing and safety during the pandemic. The staff were friendly and bartenders helpful and fast. Something to know, there are no restrooms on the Rooftop Garden & Lounge. You have to go down to Atomic Duckpin Bowling level in the same building. Not great upkeep of those bathrooms but again, you’re there for the rooftop view.

Here for the view - 5 stars on that - I don’t know much else in the city that has this kind of view and ambience but I’m here for it. Music is good, cocktails and service is decent. Never had the food yet.

First time being up here, and I fell in love. The views are great, the music is awesome, and their drink selections hit the spot. Very cool spot to be at. You do have to take the elevator to the top floor, and the bathrooms are on the first floor.

If you want to get a different perspective of Indianapolis, come to the Rooftop Garden. A quick elevator ride in a beautiful Art Deco building, and you can enjoy a nice, cold drink and a beautiful view. The wings and pizza were tasty, too! P.S. - go during the week for a lighter crowd

There's just something about a rooftop that I love. This place is great for all vibes. Sometimes it's chill and no cover, other times they have a live dj and charge cover. Either way, it's a great place to be. Another plus is coming here while the sun is setting, the views are amazing. They have 2 bars to order drinks from and sometimes they sell food too. There are tables with chairs and then seats around the border. When it's very busy, people just stand around. I noticed some people were in groups and playing games, that's a good idea in this type of atmosphere. The service is friendly, everyone in this area just seems pretty chill.

Rooftop is great for drinks and the view. Their drink sizes are decent and strong. The music can be hit or miss. I prefer the nights when they have a DJ rather than just playing music through the speakers. On my most recent late night visit, they had a food vendor (not sure if that's new or permanent), but I liked having that option available.

I'm honestly not sure why this place has 3.5 stars. It's a must for a beautiful evening in Indy! There's always plenty of seating with vibey music and cozy outdoor lights to set the mood for sunset. The entrance can be a little tricky to find, but I always enter on Prospect Street and take the stairs to the rooftop (warning- it's about 5 flights of stairs) since the elevator tends to be packed. They have a great bar selection and drinks are made on the spot. They have several bartenders so the wait time isn't long at all! The bartenders are also very knowledgeable so don't be afraid to ask them for drink recs. When I went over the weekend, the chimney adjacent to the roof top was SWARMING with bats, making it such a cool sight during sunset.

What's not to love about a roof top with views of downtown + sunsets? Great reason to visit! What is also amazing is $5 drafts 6pm-8pm. However, it is a place where menus do not have prices for anything -- so it is a bit of a gamble for everything else. You should definitely visit, but be warned: 1. There is no bathroom on the 5th floor where the bar is. Also, if you take the stairs trying to find a bathroom good luck. I ended up doing the five flights of stairs (great exercise tho). 2. There is only one elevator. Enough said. 3. The building is a little old/worn out.

First thing's first, YES, the view is the only reason to visit this rooftop bar. Sunset view 4/5. I went on a Tuesday night at 2045 to see the sunset which was scheduled 2115. The first shock was finding out the there was a cover charge at the door, mostly because it was Tuesday. Sadly, the drink selection was lacking, consisting of beer and a few mixed drink options. I asked for a tequila and sprite, $10. There was a live DJ on the roof top and an area laid out for dancing, not many people utilizing the space. Overall, I'd say most people there at that time were interested in the sunset to some degree, but the environment that is created is less relaxed/chill and more upbeat/rave. It is a site to see, but not for those looking for a classy intimate experience. 06-11-2024

First of all I love this place. When my friends asked where I wanted to go for my birthday I said Revolution then The Rooftop. It was a beautiful evening so really just a perfect place to hang out. I have to take one little aside here. My favorite cocktail is an Old Fashioned. The BEST I ever had and I believe I ever will have was at an event in Bardstown KY sponsored by 1792. The smoked glass the Watkins bitters and 1792 bourbon equals perfection. Of course I ordered an Old Fashioned at The Rooftop. IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN THE BARTENDER GRABBED A BOTTLE OF ST ELMOS OLD FASHIONED PREMIX. I was shocked. I can buy that bottle at Meijer. I am sure I will visit The Rooftop again. I know just don't order a cocktail at the cocktail bar.

This is a bare bones rooftop. The drinks are a little pricey for what is up there. It's not really vibey. It's as if they did the least possible because they have a rooftop space. The bartender was friendly. Dont expect a lot and you will be ok.

This place need more restrooms. I have been here twice now and the roof top always has a good showing but for as packed as it has got. Two bathrooms on the 5th floor and the others on the first floor just ain't going to cut it.

This is such a great spot if you're looking for a great view of the city! It gets very busy quick so definitely plan on arriving early especially if you want a table. The drinks are pretty standard and the food options are just appetizers and personal pizzas. The apps were pretty good for bar food and not too pricey. The view is incredible and definitely the highlight. The only downside was that the staff was not super friendly and service was very very slow even before the rush.

Service was top notch June 30th and July 4, 2023! June 30th the mixologists were given a new menu without notice or ability to practice. The woman who served me made an EXCELLENT PBJ shot with a nutty and delightful Peanut Butter Whisky! July 3rd I ordered a Key lime Pie cocktail, fruity, slightly sweet, like a Willy Wonka concoction that felt like I was eating an actual slice of Key Lime! It was refreshingly perfect!

I really dig the vibe at this place. The view of downtown (via Virginia Ave) Indy is probably one of the best in the city. It is also cool to see the Eli Lilly building west of the Rooftop Garden. It can get pretty busy with a younger crowd on weekends. If there is a long line out front, just wait an hour or come back on another day. The Coke sign is obviously awesome. Also, please check out the free binoculars to get a better view of downtown. It's really old school, plus you don't have to pay a dime anymore!!!! The manager at the bar (Eric) is a real cool cat. Hard worker too. I've seen him bus tables and bring chairs around to people.

This place is OK at best. They are NOT transparent with their hours. Google is wrong and even their own website is wrong. Says they open at 6. I got there at 6:10 and they said they opened at 7:00. Got back much later and they were too full. I got a Kentucky mule there, but it tasted horrible. This place has an amazing view of the city. It's a great rooftop bar. But the current management is squandering it with erratic hours and bad drinks. It's never open when they say it is. And on the rare occasions it is "open" it's "too full." Get here RIGHT after it opens (if it opens when they say it will) or don't come at all. Bad service, bad drinks, great view though.

This is a great place to just sit, enjoy the cool breeze, and take in the view of the city with a delicious cocktail. Just take the vintage elevator up to the top, show your ID at the entrance, get your handstamp, and enjoy.

I can't believe i waited so long to try this place. It's been on my list since I heard about a few weeks ago. Since the weather was so nice for November they were able to stay open for an extra weekend. We were looking for an outdoor place to celebrate my friend's recent engagement and this was perfect. We went around 1:30 on a Saturday and there were just a few other customers when we arrived but it was full when we left around 3:30. I was worried at first but glad to see they had so much business. The bartenders and staff were extremely friendly and checked on us multiple times throughout. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was really good. Also huge. The haystack fries were not what I was picturing when I ordered them but I was pleasantly surprised since they were like cute thin steak fries. The drink menu was a selection of specialty mules in addition to the full bar and draft beer. I had the Irish Mule and I thought it was good. The view is fantastic and just the experience of being outside in the sunshine and warm weather in November was perfect. I will definitely be back next season when they open up.

The staff was super friendly, great views and good drinks but absolutely the worst pizza ever. A frozen party pizza is a 10 compared to this stuff. Save yourself the disappointment and eat someplace else before going. Maybe people don't go here for the food, at least I hope not.

My husband and I had a great time at the rooftop garden bar. It was such a great viewing experience and although it was chilly we had a really good time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were made very well. The arming was kind of hard to find and we only ended up walking about a block and a half to the bar. I will definitely be going back but I'll probably wait until it's warmer out.

Looking for some of the best views of downtown Indy? Look no further than the Rooftop Garden nestled under the iconic Coca Cola sign! Great place to meet friends, have a date, or gather after work! Located in the heart of Fountain Square. Order food there or take advantage of the many restaurants within walking distance. I do recommend sticking to beer/wine and steering away from the cocktails, but this is the perfect place to start or end your evening in Fountain Square!

The view is why people come here. Best view of downtown Indianapolis. But the drinks are cheap College bar drinks but are fancy restaurant style pricing. Very basic drinks, not even like margaritas. It's always very crowded in weekend nights so hard to get a table. Music is meh. But the view! And it's a rooftop bar! So I still rank it highly.

Golden hour here is everything!! I love coming here during the summertime since it's so much livelier and fun to be on a rooftop enjoying drinks with friends. They have yummy appetizers like their spinach dip! They also have decent drinks, but they're not my favorite since they're kind of strong in my opinion. The staff is funny and friendly. They're very patient as well which is nice! Definitely check it out when you can! I should also mention that this is the rooftop of where duck pin bowling is in fountain square. You can take the elevator or stairs up to the fifth floor. I mention this since sometimes people aren't sure how to get up there.

Awesome place to hang out for a few days as the sun goes down on one of those long summer nights. We stayed here for three hours and it was really pleasant. It definitely got a little crowded but the energy of it was good. We went on a night where there was a DJ, but it really only made the atmosphere better for a few songs. The rest of the time it was just okay. Good drinks, OK food (pricey) but don't come expecting more than a snack food to accompany your drink.

All in all, excellent establishment. 4 stars because I've tried going other days but the hours are kind of inconsistent and they don't update their hours on the website/Google. Also you have to go up to the bar to get your drinks/food and the line was long enough to be annoying. Other than that, the drinks menu is pretty varied and there was plenty of seating available. Obviously, the ambience is the main attraction for rooftop garden and for that I give it 5 stars! Street parking is easy to find in the nearby residential areas and there are plenty of dinner places near by if you don't feel like pub food!

One of the best views in Fountain Square. Between the music and scenery, it was a fun place to be. There was a cover charge ($7) and drinks are on the more expensive side, but worth it if you plan to make a night out of it. Long, slow, lines for drinks later in the night, but to be expected on a weekend. Wasn't my favorite, but no major complaints.

Dark hair pink leggings was so rude for how much money we were asked to spend after standing in line for 15 minutes waiting for a drink.

I went here to meet a bunch of girls for a 50 th birthday celebration. None of us had ever been here. The birthday girl wanted to see the sunset from the roof. The homemade waffle chips where very tasty but very salty. The pretzel was great not soft and doughy. I had the sliders for the first time ever and I also liked them, not greasy which is whey I had never ordered them anywhere. I always thought they looked that way. The girls had pizza and the hummus and that was very tasty also. So pretty much everything we had was good. Some of girls don't drink much and wished they had a mixed drink list other than the Mule. We had no clue what to order. The only reason for a 4 vs 5 is because of the restroom. It's on the floor below, just looked dirty and was smelly. Had to stand and hold the handle to get the toilet to flush.

They really hooked us up being the only place to find food in Fountain Square at 11:30 on a Saturday (RIP Pure Eatery & Peppy Grill). Had some delicious apps to soak up the buzz we gained at Tappers and got an absolutely gorgeous view of Indy.

Even though all websites stated they were open last Wednesday and the one person we talked to at the door stated they were supposed to be open. They were closed due to the bartenders called off because it may be too windy...there was no wind. So the entire roof/restaurant closed due to staff calling off and no notice given. Normally love this place but this caught our group off guard. I guess call ahead of driving to Fountain Square if your going here to ensure they'll be open.

The good: looks like a fun place. The bad: it says it opens at 6. We (2 of us) got there at 6:05 and the bartender said they weren't ready for customers because they were short staffed. Totally understand! But, which is weird because one of their bartenders was sitting outside on his phone. The bartender said we couldn't hang out for the 20 min to wait for them to get their bar set up. Ok, fine. We went to the elevator to go down and a couple came up. They went out to the bar and were allowed to stay. I don't know what's up with this place. As former service industry workers, we understand the shortage and how it affects everything. We were fine with going downstairs and waiting, but the other couple being allowed to stay was pretty crappy.

Stopped here after having dinner at Maialina and was on my Indy bucket list when I first moved here. A bit of a hidden gem since it's above Duckpin Bowling but overall a fun & relaxed atmosphere. Go there for the view and atmosphere, drinks were very standard, nothing too special. The appeal is more for the view and relaxed atmosphere but be prepared to pay a $5-$10 cover.

So the location is awesome. The only problem I have is that all of the food is downstairs. So with that being said. If it's not something you can order on their limited menu they don't run it up here to you. What I ordered is on the real menu so I had to go get it myself. The bar is a full bar up here though. It has all the cocktails you could think of maybe a bit limited on the beer selection but overall ok bar. But the view is everything and more.

Talk about a hidden treasure! This is definitely a great place to Go check out on a lovely summer evening. The atmosphere is wonderful and just all around makes a great experience . The food and drinks were okay, but it's more for the awesomeness of the view and hidden secret that will make all your friends jealous that you found .

The way the bar is setup is a little awkward, but the view is unbeatable. I didn't know this existed until a few weeks ago, but it's now my go to spot to grab a drink with friends and enjoy a beautiful evening. I also love that this spot draws a very diverse crowd in terms of age, which I haven't really found anywhere else in Indy. Definitely check this place out next time you're looking for a casual place to watch the sunset.

This place has been on my Fountain Square bucket list for a while now and I was not disappointed when I finally made it there on Friday night. The view was amazing and the drinks were great. My favorite drink was the Ruby Mule. They also have a variety of coffee based cocktails, so this makes for a nice post dinner stop. The entrance is a little tricky to find. Just follow the signs and you'll find your way there. If I remember correctly, you enter the building through the same entrance as duckpin bowling. The service here was great. It was very busy, but we were still seated right away and the waitress recommended some good drinks. The atmosphere is fun and the view is Insta-worthy. I loved the lights and plants around the roof. It feels like you're in your own little world. Nothing beats a beautiful view with delicious drinks.

Super chill rooftop bar with available food offerings. Tasty selection of beers and Mules. Great vibes and definitely a place the locals go. Prepare for the steps or a wait for the elevator on a busy night.

This place is charging a 5 dollar cover just to go to the top floor, you order at the bar and they bring your food in a plastic container with plastic silverware, but not charging plastic prices. No one to service the trash, or ask if we needed anything. It's not worth anyone's time! Friday night, 6:15pm, two beers tapped out! Just, don't.

I feel like I really let my friends down with this one. It was my birthday, and this is the place I picked for dinner. What better place to dine al fresco than atop the Fountain Square Theater Building with the downtown Indianapolis skyline as the backdrop? Unfortunately, the fantastic view, decent food and amazing friends who came to celebrate was somewhat overshadowed by the general unhelpfulness and not so nice attitude by the Manager, which infected the rest of her team. Let's start at the beginning. My friends are amazing people who like to do everything they can to make special occasions special. They tried to make reservations and were told they couldn't, so two of them arrived an hour before everyone else so they could put some flowers on the table and some balloons on the chairs. They were immediately told that they couldn't be seated until everyone was there, so they had to sit around and wait. They brought a cake, which they were told they couldn't serve. They were told that every single member of our party had to be present before they would seat us. So, my amazing friends sat there for an hour staring across the empty tables waiting on the rest of us to show. When everyone finally got there, they took us to our seats and my friends started to decorate. They were told the balloons had to be moved because it might affect the people who were sitting next to us. No one sat at that table the entire time we were there. We ordered drinks, and one person got the wrong beer. The server argued with him about it being poured from the correct tap, and when my friend insisted that it wasn't right, the server admitted that they unscrewed the taps at night and probably hooked them up wrong. When he came back with a new beer, it was the right one. Not sure why he felt the need to argue, but he did. Food was ordered and was quite tasty. Everyone was stuffed, so we picked up the cake from downstairs and went somewhere else. There are a lot of restaurants choices in Indianapolis that offer much better service than here. There are a lot of places in Indianapolis that offer a fantastic view. While the view is amazing here, people will start getting fed up and simply won't come back. It will be a long time before I decide to go back, and I suspect my groups of friends feel the same.

We tried several of their famous mule. They tasted all very similar and they wasn't very good. Mine tasted like cough syrup. And they were out of most of their beer and cider selections. We also had chips and salsa, and salsa tasted like it wasn't fresh. There was only one lady taking care of the whole rooftop. So the service was fairly slow. Now the view, it's a good view of Indy. There's no shades at all though so I recommend going there as the sun goes down. I wouldn't recommend their mule but i would come back with friends just for some views.

Really great experience and VIEW. Service was great. You get upstairs and walk to any table of your choice. You go up to the bar and order your food and drinks. We ordered spinach dip, pizza and hummus. They had a limited menu when we went but they did not miss the make with these appetizers. That spinach dip was FIREEEE... overall a great time/vibe alllll that

I'm not kidding when I say this is my favorite place in Indianapolis to get a drink. The views are IMPECCABLE. It's chill enough that you don't feel like you need to get dolled up for a Chicago rooftop vibe, but still magical enough with fairy lights and views for days. Their bartenders pour pretty strong drinks (I'll never complain about that) and the Mezcal Mule is my favorite - their variety of mules makes me a very happy camper. Additionally, they have a full menu (as do the rest of the bars in the FS Theatre Building) and I would wholly recommend the pretzel sticks and beer cheese. Tip: The line can get long because once you're there you won't want to leave, so get there as early as possible (I believe they open at 5?). Start your night here or stay the whole time, but if you try to come after going a couple other places, there may be a bit of a wait. There's also a cover, but they take card! Also, a GREAT first date spot :)

Well, we finally did it. We got our picture on the infamous Rooftop Garden in Fountain Square. This place is known for the views and they didn't disappoint. The bar is located on the 5th floor of the Fountain Square Theatre where the always fun Duck Pin Bowling is located. You take the elevator to get to the top, which is unfortunately small and pretty hot. Once to the top the views are worth the ride up! We both got the Moscow Rule which ran us 10$ each. For me is a little pricey for a drink but the view of the city offset that cost a little. You are also able to order dinner, but we didn't look at a menu. The bathrooms are located on the 4th floor which is inconvenient. The space could use some more seating, maybe picnic tables so chairs can't be dragged everywhere leaving empty tables.

You come to this location for the view. The scenery is one of the best in the city. Great view of historical fountain square and an unobstructed view of the whole Indianapolis skyline. On a nice night, this location for a social outing can't be beat. The drinks are very average but they get the job done. My recommendation is to make sure you check hours before you come (this location is seasonal) and when I went they charged $5 cover.

Laugh out loud bad service. I made a yelp account to say this. Waited 45 minutes for a beer at the bar. a random single file line started forming???? I'd rather get kicked in the nuts than come here

I live in the neighborhood and have wanted to check out the rooftop bar for the longest time. TL;DR: I was met with devastating disappointment mostly caused by a rude bartender who definitely does not care if you have flies in your drink. I can not recommend this place to anyone. -- After enjoying dinner at an establishment close by, my husband and I thought it would be a great night to check out the rooftop garden. It had been a long week at work and we were interested in seeing what kinds of drinks they serve. We heard, through yelp, that the view was fantastic. Yelpers were not wrong about the view. You get a nice view of the downtown Indianapolis skyline and as the sun was setting, the sky was turning beautiful shades of orange and blue. Unfortunately, the view does not outweigh the terrible service I received. I looked at their menu which featured various types of mules. As a lover of smoky flavor and mezcal, I decided to order a $10 mezcal mule. I asked for less ice and normal proportions of everything which the bartender obliged. It tasted good and the drink came to about half the size of mason glass (understandable as I asked for less ice and the original amount of ice in the glass was to the rim so she only filled the glass to half with ice). I made my way over to the edge of the bar to admire the view. I only had a few sips when I noticed a fly in my drink. This made me sad because I really wanted to enjoy the drink further and only had sipped very little of it at that point (like I mentioned, my glass was only half full per my own request of less ice; when I realized I had a fly in my drink, the glass was still half full). I made my way back to the bar to talk with the bar tender to let her know what happened. I waited, patiently, as she helped other customers. When she got back to me I explained to her what happened. Now, I'd like to explain that I grew up in Florida. We have all kinds of bugs in Florida. Arguably, we have more bugs than Indiana because the weather is so humid. Although it doesn't happen frequently, sometimes a bug might fly into your drink. It happens and is understandable. However, in Florida, I have never had this happen. After explaining to her about how a fly flew into my drink she looked me square in the face and said, "So... this is an outside establishment? A fly in your drink can happen." She acted like I was dumbass for bringing the drink back to the bar. I was taken aback. Maybe it's my fault for taking the drink back to the bar? Maybe I should have just continued to drink it without notifying anyone or any complaint? I don't know, but I do know how she made me feel like a butthole for going back to the bar with a fly in my drink. My flabbergasted self even offered to take the drink back, fly and all, for inconveniencing her. (I don't even know why I offered to take it back, I knew I wasn't going to drink it anymore if there was a fly in it). She then agreed to remake my drink for me (with more ice this time which I honestly was completely okay with at this point) which I thanked and apologized profusely. She definitely made sure to remind me that "we were outside and outside there are bugs." There were other customers in the area. I was thoroughly embarrassed. I walked back to the edge of the bar and away from the situation. I tried to enjoy the drink. I tried to enjoy the view. But I just felt very, very small. I felt about as small as the fly that had come into that first glass (And I was also nervous another fly would come into my drink lol). She took what was supposed to be a good end to a long week and turned it into poop. All in all, I can not recommend this place to anyone. I can not recommend a place where they allow their employees to be rude to their customers like this. To the bar tender that served me tonight: I am sorry for making the job a little more difficult tonight... I really am. But many of us also have jobs where we interact with other people. In the future, instead of making me and others like me feel small, I hope you strive to positively impact someone's day or make their lives a little more bright. I hope that you can enjoy that beautiful view and that it one day inspires you to do better. I wish you the best.

I'd always seen those cute rooftop photos with the Indy skyline floating around on social media but never knew where they came from! This cute little gem is located above the duck pin bowling place. You enter in the duck pin doors, take an elevator up the to rooftop (don't try the stairs- the door at the top is locked), and quickly you will see that you're at the right place! The drink menu has all of your favorites- beer, wine, vodka, gin, and anything else you'd want. There is ample seating and you even have the option of ordering food! I give it four stars because there is only one working elevator that is pretty small and slow, the restrooms are located one floor down (take the stairs) in the bowling area, and they're definitely not the cleanest.

Beautiful views ....drink lines are long but everyone is pleasant.....the bathrooms are a floor down from the roof. Parking is on the street. Enter from the duck pin bowling entrance. You cannot beat the photos you can take at this place especially during sunset!

We stopped in here for drinks after dinner. It was a beautiful night weatherwise and it was made even better by the gorgeous view of downtown Indy. It was also a perfect place to watch the sunset. The drinks were pretty good and they have a decent variety. We also spilt and appetizer which was good as well. It's not a place where you stop in for a full meal, but it is a fun spot to grab some appetizers and drinks. I will definitely be back weather permitting.

I dislike having to place my own food and beverage orders at the bar because there isn't a way to secure your seating while placing your order. There was an extremely long wait for food that was barely lukewarm. The means are unconventional for this establishment. Ice made my drink taste like toilet water. The waitress was nice and the blue cheese was good.

I love the updates that this business has made in the past year! Updated deck flooring, landscaping and lights throughout the rooftop. The location is perfect to look at the skyline of Indianapolis and still centrally located in the wonderful fountain square. The menu selection for drinks is extensive and the appetizers are highly recommendedz
