"Aside from a segway tour through the city, the best way to see all of Toronto at once is on a rooftop, and one of our favorites is atop the Broadview Hotel. The building looks a lot like an old train station, though it actually used to be home to a strip club. And while a full meal here can get expensive, get a few cocktails and plates to share, like a charcuterie board or duck fat popcorn, while you check out the view." - Katie Diamond

"Torontonians love to argue about which side of the downtown core is cooler, but the west side often gets the hot new developments and buzzworthy bars. So when The Broadview Hotel opened on the east side last year, it made waves—not just because it brought a historic Romanesque Revival building back to its former glory, but also because it introduced one of the best rooftop bars in the city. The funky midcentury interiors are comfortable and quirky, without overshadowing the staggering views of the skyline. Whimsical yet drinkable cocktails such as Becky With The Good Hair, a blend of vodka, orange and carrot juices, coconut water, lemon, allspice syrup, and charred rosemary, and The Canadian Tuxedo, a blend of Tanqueray 10, Tio Pepe Fino sherry, Sorry Not Sorry cordial, absinthe, green tea, and lime. There's also a modest wine list, but cocktails are really the way to go." - Todd Plummer

This place has one of the best views from a rooftop. A corner sofa table would be the ideal choice. The food menu is limited and is definitely a drawback. Cocktails are pretty decent. Nevertheless, you'll have a great time if accompanied by the right person. They do have a great service. On our way out, we realised the indoor seating is also a good option.

Spicy! Everything I ate was spicy and hot and probably a touch salty. The food was good. We ordered the fries, sourdough bulgolgi (also comes with fries), chicken wings, and shrimp tacos (2). Everything was spicy, chicken wings were slightly too salty (maybe ok for others), fries were lightly spicy. Didn't notice the spice until a few fries in. Very nice view of Toronto and rooftop area. There is a centre area where can see the sky. All sides are windows. Nice place for a quick snack or meal.

A very nice place for a group hangout. It is more of a social bar rather than a restaurant so don’t plan a big dinner here. Lots of cute cocktails to try. Menu only has shareables and desserts but tbf the portions are worth the price. It also gets very loud so js keep that in mind :) i definitely recommend for a night out in Toronto!

Great menu selection. The gin + tonic was excellent and amazing dessert. The views were stunning and the interior design was cool and relaxing

We ordered the Korean Spiced Fries ($12.00), Cauliflower ($14.00), Nashville Hot Chicken Bao ($6.00 each), and the 8oz Grilled Flatiron lettuce wraps ($26.00). The food was pretty good but definitely not worth the price although you do get a fair amount of the shareables. There's just a lot more places out there where you can get more of the same food and it's better tasting. The bao was okay but $6.00 for one is a little pricey as there are other locations where you can get three for about $9. We also ordered the Mo-Ai punch which was pretty good but for one it's $21.00... that said we didn't order a lot more cocktails after that. However, just for the view alone, it was worth it! It's a nice spot to take in the sunset with the Toronto skyline. It's a must-go place at least once. We had to make reservations as they are fairly busy. Within our reservation we requested a table that had a good view and they accommodated us! The customer service was really good too and they were all extremely friendly. Overall, if you're in Toronto you need to check out The Rooftop at least once. For more reviews check out @_date.nights on Instagram!

Atmosphere is one of the best. Unbearable view before any other high rise around happens. Not recommend the poke bowl.

I live in Toronto and we had family visiting from out of country and thought the Rooftop would be a nice evening out for our party of 6. I wish we would have went elsewhere. All we had were drinks and they were extremely overpriced. We may have been able to get over that but our service was terrible/non existent. Had to waive down 3 different servers for the couple hours we were there and at one point I had to go to bar and get my own beer. Honestly the nicest thing about this place was the view. That being said we could've just went to our condo rooftop patio and had a much nicer time. I will never go back to this place again!

It was my first time going to this rooftop andy overall experience was great. The menu is a little bit limited in terms of options, but the food was delicious. I had a Red hot chicken bao and my husband had a Tuna bowl. The cocktail were also good, I really enjoyed mine which was bit sweet and not too strong. The service and the atmosphere were great. The view is simply amazing. I'll definitely return. This is the space to go for drinks and small bites.

Yelp
The indoor dining is aesthetic with the panoramic views and a large skylight. We were seated at the outdoor patio high top seats facing the east side of Broadview Ave (vs the west side). The view was okay, feels a little narrow but it was peaceful during dinner time, as we did not hear much music. A small area of the patio has overhead heaters and a canopy (try to grab these spots on chilly and rainy weather). We mainly ordered apps. The food was just as we expected as bar food and the food arrived quick. The Fried Cauliflower was tasty, altho oily. Food menu was limited and their drinks are on the pricier side. The service was fine and overall this is a nice place for catch ups and dates. From what I read from other reviews seems that this could be a hit or miss experience, depending on quality of food and service, so keep that in mind. Note: given less than 1 day notice in advance, there's a $10 per person cancellation fee booked from OpenTable.

Yelp
20% automatic gratuity charge for 8+ patrons?!!! When five of those eight are small kids? Nonsense. Hostess was rude and officious. Wait staff did you a favor. The manager condescended to wave the 20% (two separate reservations just met up by chance). As for the food...it's amazing. Braised beef. Baby ribs. Cucumber. Really great stuff. Worth the other hassles.

Yelp
Tldr: view was 7/10. Food was 5/10. Price was 3/10. Service was 1/10. We thought you would be able to see the CN tower and downtown toronto way more as we brought guests from the States over but its still hidden behind other buildings. This still didnt ruin our overall experience as we were just excited to have a place with so much natural light. We ordered appetizers to start and got the fries (tasted great and huge portion, had ramen seasoning and served with kewpie mayo) beef dumplings (also great, a little overpriced, sauce to pair was good) and sweet potato fries (small portion, pretty standard, nothing different from your average Swiss Chalet, but overpriced). We tried calling back to server but not once did she nor any other server look at us even after waving our hand for 10 minutes. Mind you, yes the patio area was busy (on a friday afternoon) but there were still about 7 tables seated in the inside area. We ended up having to call a different server after finally audibly raising our voice which gladly served us. We didnt see our original server come to our table for the rest of the night, though she served other tables around us still- didnt even pay attention to us. Then we ordered the chimichurri chicken wings, and two sets of fish tacos. Wings: dry. Tacos: overpriced. We were sharing all of our food and the prices were not friendly to this at all. What we were able to get was mindful of the sharing portions, but their menu has such limited options to begin with. At the end of the meal we wanted to split the bill to accommodate for our large group of 5- the young server (a new one because we couldnt find any of the two from before) gave us attitude and said "I wouldnt know how to split the food" but very rudely. Is that not her job to ask us? We took the bill home under one card and split it up at home. Terrible experience, definitely would not come back. The second star is only there because we did at least get a lot of natural light and had some semi decent food.

Yelp
Went here during brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. Price Range: Roughly $15-$35 per person Items Ordered: - Braised Pork Belly Bao - Fried Cauliflower - Ginger Mule Food Quality (Menu/Taste/ Portion Size) - 1/5 I was incredibly disappointed by the food. I've heard a lot about this place as a brunch/lunch spot and was expecting more. Everything was okay but not much blew our minds. They tried to do more unique dishes like baos but missed the mark. Their cauliflower dish was their best, and good to share. The value isn't great for the quality you get and the portions are small. They have a wide selection of drinks and I feel like that's the play here if you want to come here for the view. Atmosphere - 5/5 This is the thing to come for. The view is really nice, and it's fun to be on a rooftop patio looking out on the city. Certain areas are covered if you wanted some shade. The vibe is amazing. Service - 3.5/5 The staff is very friendly but the time i went, it was hard to get them to come to our table, not sure if they were understaff. They are really friendly when it comes to choosing seats and good at explaining menu items. Would I go here again? Probably not unless my friends really wanted to go. The view is great but doesn't make up for the food. Might be good for afternoon drinks. Lash's Recommendation - Any of the drinks

Yelp
We finally made it to The Rooftop! I'll start off by saying that it was a really nice summer evening so I was expecting there to be a long wait list to get a seat on the outside patio but was pleasantly surprised that the wait turned out to be around 30 mins. Inside was nicely decorated but the patio didn't have the greatest view and a lot more narrow looking than I thought. The service was average. While waiting for a table to become available on the patio I had a mojito at the bar. When our table was finally ready, I went outside to the patio but was greeted 5 mins later with the bartender saying I needed to pay for the mojito right then and there even though I asked him to just put in on my bill with the rest of the drinks/food I was going to order. I guess he really wanted his tip so he said they couldn't do that and I had to pay up front. I was trying to avoid swiping my card more than once unnecessarily so I didn't like that. The menu is VERY LIMITED so there really isn't much to choose from. We ended up ordering the sliders which were really good. We didn't order anything else because everything was really overpriced and I just couldn't justify in my head paying $20 for another basic mojito. I think we probably stayed there for about an hour and then left because we were so hungry and didn't feel like paying an arm and a leg for basic appetizers. If you're menu is going to be overpriced, service better be top notch which it wasn't. I don't think I'd come back here.

Yelp
They charged me $26 for a martini. It wasn't on the menu where all other cocktails listed at $18-20. Like, you're not the Four Seasons, calm down. Scammy

Yelp
I was not expecting good food from this place, though they surprised me. Russian dumplings and the duck were amazing. they're busy but the atmosphere is sophisticated. the view is okay, not mind blowing but different from your typical view of "Toronto" you get in downtown. alcohol was good, tasted well and priced reasonably well. it's a cute place to catch up with your friends and enjoy some well-made food
