Came here to try kava for the first time, and was pleased with the experience. I had a "Dirty Badger" (their strongest kava drink), with pineapple to sweeten the taste. Kava has a remarkable numbing effect on the mouth, initially, and quickly put me in a state similar to the very beginning of a mushroom or acid trip - colours slightly enhanced, perception tilted just slightly to the left, so to speak. An hour or so later I was ready to fall asleep, nodding off, and it was only the afternoon. I'd recommend kava as a nightcap for insomniacs.
The place was empty when I went in, but it was during the day, and I expect it comes more alive at night. I enjoyed the wall art and shelf of games and books, and noticed a big stage, which the bartender said hosted musical acts on weekends.
I appreciated the knowledge on offer from the bartender, who explained how kava works (you should start with a larger dose, since it has reverse tolerance) and what some of the other menu items were. This place also offers kratom, which anyone who's suffering from an opiate addiction should take note of, since kratom can help you kick your habit.
The only real issue was the lack of coat hooks in the bathroom (and the hard-to-find light switch, as someone else mentioned). I'd rather not have to set my purse and coat on a dirty bathroom floor. I don't care how often you clean it, a floor is a floor.
I'll be back!
