Google
Recommend checking this sport out if you're in the mood for some roti and curry. We stopped by yesterday and the food portions were great, the food was delicious and came quickly, and the service was great too! I really liked their sour - which we got with the poulourie and egg balls. Highly recommend!!

I was in the mood for a Caribbean style roti wrap, and this place was recommended by a friend who works at a brunch restaurant nearby. It is authentic, casual, and focused on providing satisfying portions. There are plenty of seating areas, some with a window view. There is ample parking with the TTC bus stop next door and the highway 401 McCowan ramp less than a minute away. My roti was nicely spiced, not too much of a sting. Make sure you ask for your level of heat when ordering. The selection is good, and if you're in the mood for Caribbean cuisine, you'll surely find something to satisfy your craving. The staff speaks English and is able to accurately take your order. I recommend this place for casual, ethnic dining and lunch meals.

Google
Doubles doubles doubles doubles!! Pumpkin and spinach doubles? Yes please!!! The combination is soo good. Not sure what they put in their pumkin or why it is more yellow than orange but it is delicious! I would have that every week if I could. Personally, I wished the dough would melt and disintegrate in my mouth like Lina's but Roti Hut is pretty pretty good. Also, kind of weird to say but their chutney is pretty good too.

Google
I haven’t had rice and peas that good in a long long time!

Today I went in and bought paratha - total waste of time. Dry, hard, no taste at all. Really disappointed , wouldn’t recommend this to anybody .

Google
Great food full of flavor. We had the curry beef roti and curry goat with rice. We tried the curry goat double for the first time. Very soft bread and pack with flavor. We highly recommend and we will be back again for sure.

Google
I have been a frequent customer of The Roti Hut since ,just after they opened in 82. I lived in Markham brought friends and relatives and watched the generations change as the older ones left. Thought no longer live in the area, I frequently visit friends there and we meet at The Hut.. The last three times I went there the food has been so SALTY..almost inedible.Yesterday we ordered spinach and pumpkin with rice and curry chicken..the spinach had to be thrown away ITT was so salty, the curry chicken was fine but portion that cost an additional $5 was sooooo .small. Couldn't finish my boneless goat roti because it was very very salty...I was so disappointed . I mentioned it to the cashier twice and asked for some tamarind sauce hoping to cut the salt.. couldn't eat it

Google
I discovered Roti Hut on TSN Radio First Up and decided to try their Curry Goat Roti. The flavors were rich, showcasing quality ingredients. For spice lovers, it might be a tad mild, but the well-balanced combination and tender goat meat make it a delightful treat. Pro tip: don't forget to ask for hot sauce!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It is not located on the main road and I only came across it because I did a search for rotis on yelp. We ordered the beef oxtail roti, vegetable roti, and the chicken roti. The chicken roti was good. The roti that was surprisingly good was the vegetable roti .... There were chickpeas, spinach, potatoes in it that helped give it a different texture and taste to it. I highly recommend this one. The oxtail roti was a bit of a disappointment ... I didn't realize there were bones in it so I spent some times digging the bones out. Overall, I would come back again for the rotis.... It definitely warrants a repeat visit!

Yelp
Ordered boneless chicken roti, it tasted good but portion size was very skimpy, lacked sauce in the filling.

Yelp
Roti Hut, we love you and have for a long time. We love your Channa with doubles and pholourie. Dhalpuri roti so fluffy. Paratha roti. With goat, curry shrimp, conch, curry chicken, you name it, the seasoning and spices are just right. Everything tastes better at The Roti Hut. We love that you are on UberEats and SkipTheDishes too.

Yelp
This used to be the best authentic Trinidadian rotis in Toronto and my go to place for my roti cravings. But lately their roti is not what it's used to be. I usually order the Chicken Breast Boneless Curry roti and I now find that they're skimping on fillings and there's not enough sauce inside the roti. The meat is also rather dry and the dhal puri flatbread is not fresh and tasted old. Not also a fan of their doubles, too mushy for my liking and filled mostly with bland curried channa (chickpeas). I also find the service slower than before. You always end up waiting more than 15 mins for your order eventhough it's not busy and there's no lineups. With limited places to go in Toronto for the best Trini roti (and I've tried a lot of them), I'm having second thoughts of coming back to Roti Hut and just suppressing my roti cravings until I find the next best place.

Yelp
Mean to post this review some time ago, their prices are reasonable and portions are quite large. I order their Jerk Chicken with rice and peas. However it was quite packed with potatoes on the side which I didn't feel was necessary.

M L.

Yelp
Great tasting chicken roti! Haven't been there since the pandemic but so glad it's still there. Prices have gone up but it's to be expected with all food prices. The quality and taste of the roti was outstanding. Service was ok; they take your order and you sit and wait til your food is ready. It wouldn't hurt if they smiled and exchanged a bit of pleasantries with their customers.

Yelp
The worst tasting curry goat at a take out resto. Had to go here cause it's Sunday, only place open/likely to get anything. Would have gone to ACR on Ellesmere if it was a weekday. Picked up generic 2/pk of factory currents rolls, dry and little taste (the red/white label). And a dahlpuri, which was soft and nearly seasoned. The goat was overly salty, didn't appreciate the goat meat to be floating in a thick fatty, greasy pool. Ugh. The goat was treated with curry that WAS NOT boonjay-ed/boojaled. They just mixed up the goat curry and what tastes like heavy dose of black malasa, which had no textured or body, just tiny lil goat pieces soft as if it was pressure cooker. A total shortcut. Save your time and money. Visits are only for the desparate.
google avatar

Yelp
Roti Hut has some decent roti. We tried the goat roti and chicken roti, and I'd recommend the less expensive and more tender meat chicken roti. There's a good amount of meat and potatoes. Maybe a tad too much wrap, but at least it is fresh!
google avatar

Yelp
The beef roti we ordered was delicious. The portions are pretty generous, enough to share a meal. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Tarrah L.

Yelp
Well, it's been about 10 years since I had The Roti Hut & I'm not quite sure if they changed management within that time frame but it definitely is not tasting how it used to. Overall the curry chicken roti had tender chicken & succulent potatoes but I found it extremely dry overall. Lacking in juices and flavour. The chickpea double was OK, but what do you really expect for chickpea mush in between that double bread? I was pumping myself up for this place but sadly I am disappointed. I also found a lady at the front was a bit stale in personality. I guess she only likes it when men come to the counter, not women, she looked at me like I had three heads. So for that reason, I will not be returning! There are much much much better roti places out there.
google avatar

Humaira K.

Yelp
Went to the roti hut after seeing a lot of pictures off their doubles on Instagram. Ordered two chickpeas curry doubles, oxtail dinner and their homemade peanut punch. The doubles were very dry. The oxtail curry taste was good but the oxtail pieces were very fatty. The homemade peanut punch was very good.

Yelp
You can tell this place was a local favourite by the vast amount of people constantly coming in EVEN during quarantine! The advantage of waiting in line was that I had more time to think on what I wanted to order. HOWEVER, the way their line up snakes is completely not social distancing and I wore a mask but many people did not, eek! I would recommend calling ahead and picking up directly from the counter to skip the squished line. I had to google like half the things on this menu because I'm not always exposed to Caribbean food but was pleasantly surprised to see how much choice there was. I ended up getting a curry goat roti and homemade peanut punch. Phil got jerk chicken dinner with rice n' peas. He just had jerk chicken dinner from Chris jerk yesterday so he wanted to do a direct comparison. Shivani got doubles with meat (chicken and goat). The waiting area was very busy and the music was loud so it has hard to hear the orders being announced. I would suggest they use order numbers instead of just naming the items so it's easier for the staff to say and easier for patrons to hear. The peanut punch was so good and creamy and pure peanut, loved it!! Curry goat was really good but at one point half the roti was potato and half was goat. Not really even? However I would order again. Jerk chicken dinner was not as great as Chris jerk but still decently good. The chicken was moist and the rice was flavourful, however I think this place really is meant for roti so I would not order with rice again. The meat doubles were good too, very tasty gravy. Overall pretty decent roti!

Garret Glenn A.

Yelp
I gotta say, the taste and seasoning for me is a bit off. The spice that I was used to with curry just isn't enough. The good side to it is the serving.
google avatar

Rizzla R.

Yelp
An unmitigated disaster. Ordered eight doubles to take home only to find out it was fried roti with chana and some foreign sauce. I am not sure what happened here. Was there an order mix up? Intentionally trying to pull a fast one on customers? Whatever the case this place is officially a no fly zone if you are looking for doubles. I have not tried anything else (and won't after this experience) but that nonsense was enough to call cc company to reverse charges due to false advertising/not providing items requested (merchant takes all risk for all cc purchases). I'm guessing there is new owners because I've heard this place used to be good. Not anymore. Avoid at all costs, there is no reason to waste your money with superior options a few minutes drive away.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 10 years. I try to visit if I'm in that area of Scarborough to satisfy my Roti cravings. My faves are the Pumpkin and Spinach and the Curry Chicken Rotis. Seriously some of the best in the city. They also sell Allan's beef patties! Also, one of the best in the city.

Yelp
I haven't tried this place in awhile and they got a renovation honestly the restaraunt looks really nice and the service was really good but I ordered the jerk chicken roti maybe it was a mistake in my order but I didn't really like it there was no flavour I had to put the scotch honey hot sauce which was to hot. I don't know I lost interest going to this place again

Yelp
Good spot. Lots of seating. Ordered, sat and the food came out quickly. Service was friendly and the seating area was comfortable although relatively bare of any character. I came with two friends, two of us had boneless chicken roti and one had the jerk chicken roti. All of us had doubles. The food was okay. The doubles were missing the tamarind sauce, the filling was a little bland. Overall, not a bad place for roti... but not my new favorite. Theres a lot of competition in a small radius and Ive had better roti at spots a street or two away.

Yelp
As a newly located Scarborough resident of Carribbean descent I often ask myself where do I go to get some back home food, taste and flavours? Look no further then The Roti Hut ! This restaurant has years of experience in the caribbean market as it was established over 35 years ago making it a pioneer in providing mouth watering foods such as rotis of different flavour including veggie chick peas, chicken or beef, doubles, pholourie, curry goat and jerk chicken. Don't forget to wash it down with your choice of drinks like peanut crunch or your favourite soda or pop. I like pineapple, banana and of course kola champagne! I highly recommend to make you next caribbean style food choice to be The Roti Hut. Enjoy the music and the friendly vibes at this take out or sit down style family restaurant. Big group, family or just buy for yourself.

Yelp
I've tried a couple of roti's from here and my favourite is the curry goat. Ingredients and roti always taste fresh and ready to order. Service is good. I recommend calling in before placing order so you can skip the line, its generally pretty busy in here!
google avatar

Yelp
Was craving roti, had to make a stop at roti hut. I've been here a couple times but for take out and not sit in eating. You pay first then take your seat and they give you your dish. Fabulous. Definitely very clean, it's fall so they have all the cute fall decor. Washrooms are downstairs. As for the meal, ordered myself a doubles- probably the best doubles made from love from the lady in the kitchen. Soft puffy dough with channa. Ugh. What more could you ask for? well I could of used some more chutney lol Curiosity lead me to try a non traditional jerk chicken roti. Strangest thing I've ever ordered in my roti... but NO RAGRETS!!! It packs in heat like an oven door. But not enough that your nostrils are drip drip dripping. Roti shell, same thing... made from love from that lady in the kitchen. GUYS. MAKE YOUR WAY HERRRRRRRE
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Summary: generous portion of roti is decent and comes at an okay price, but it's the tasty doubles and the fun and fast customer service that stand out! It's ROTI HUT, but to me, two doubles here are better value than one roti. Don't get me wrong - the roti isn't bad: sure, it's a bit dry, the lamb is disappointingly not-tender, but the chicken (jerk chicken) is pretty good and has a mild kick that enhances the flavour without overpowering... it's one of the few places where I get chicken over lamb. However, the doubles (basically a chickpea sandwich) gets me every time. They're just ridiculously good, filling, and good value. As for the restaurant itself, it's clean, comfortable and well managed. I think the decor adds to the experience. Solid place for Caribbean fair.

Yelp
Any of you watch Game of Thrones? You know how Bran Stark is able to "warg" into another being anywhere in any time zone? Well after coming to The Roti Hut I feel like I've travelled to Trinidad and Tobago to enjoy the spoils of the Islands! The Roti Hut has been a Scarborough gem for the longest time serving classic West Indian fare such as roti's, rice dishes, etc... Man its been years since I've been here...last time was when it was just a little dinky take out spot but now its expanded into a full sit down spot with the same great food! The system works like this, line up at the front, give your order, grab a seat and they'll bring the food to you in almost no time at all! The boneless beef roti I had was fantastic. Soft homemade roti shells, tender beef with potatoes and sauce. The double (Dahl Puri) was soft delicious and full of flavour. Service was excellent and friendly. Definitely highly recommended to get your West Indian fix! Now excuse me while I "warg" back to the Islands! Go House Stark!!!

Yelp
Never tried Roti before and this was the first time. Though the restaurant was takeout due to to Covid, the interiors were pretty good and very spacious. The menu was massive but easy to understand. You can choose between Roti or rice along with your protein entree. We got 4 different rotis. They were lightly filled with fillings and one roti is pretty heavy. I don't think I would ever become a fan of Rotis. I also find the restaurant costly! You could get lot more than a roti roll at restaurant outside for a far better price. I wouldn't want to visit the restaurant again.

Yelp
We have ordered from Roti Hut for years and yes it WAS the best roti in the city but omg it was the absolute WORSE tasting ever in todays order...We ordered boneless chicken curry roti....absolutely NO taste ...no spice...chicken tasted old and as if chicken organs were used not the white chicken breast....the Dahl was also tasteless and watered down very few if any lentils in it....Must be someone new in the kitchen that doesnt have a clue how to cook...The paratha was soggy and not flaky as it should be...Will not order from them again...Total waste of money and feel sick after eating! Looking for zantac to help eaze the stomach discomfort now! Not only dissatisfied but also sick from eating it

Yelp
We decided to come check this place out ourselves since we wanted great tasting food. It was a short drive from where we were staying so that made it even better. This place is located in a small shopping center, but don't let the exterior scare you away. Once you enter, it's like escaping to the Caribbean islands. The sound, the aroma and the ambience. You have to order first and then get your food. Prices are reasonable and the food tasted great. We got an order of jerk chicken & curry chicken Rotis, channa double and two potatoe balls. The secret to having the flavor burst in your mouth is add the hot sauce that's on the table. This sauce is amazing, full of spices and flavor. It was like my mouth was having an orgasm. In my opinion, I really likes the chicken curry roti. It had lots of flavor and the chicken was super tender so it was great savorying the taste. The potatoe balls were a bit plan jane for me. There wasn't any flavor to them and some spice to it. Overall, this place is a hidden gem in the area and is a must go to place for grab a bite.
google avatar

Imran N.

Yelp
I came here for doubles and curry goat specifically. Overall, i'm not that impressed. I'll be skipping over this place the next time i've got a craving. My primary issue was with that only one of the three things ordered was good (the doubles - the curry goat and chicken roti was terrible). Additionally, service is really slow since this is a family run joint.
google avatar

Tom A.

Yelp
We had goat stew, oxtail, doubles chickpeas/beef and rice with peas. The flavours just blew my mind. First bit of the doubles was heavenly delicious. I can feel the love and passion they put on every dishes being served. I have tried different carribean food and this is the best so far in Toronto. Thank you for sharing your food with us. Kudos to all the ladies in the kitchen!
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
I make it a point to try Caribbean Jamaican food whenever i can and this place without a doubt has the beat Roti i have ever had. The restaurant is fresh and clean and the staff are very pleasant. Saved it as one of my favourite places to eat when in the area.
google avatar

Mikana K.

Yelp
Some of the best roti in Scarborough! My personal favourite is their doubles filled with spinach or pumpkin. Absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Cin C.

Yelp
A local neighbourhood that has great roti and authentic caribbean food. I always come for the roti, either the goat or the chicken. Have never been disappointed by the quality or the quantity of the food. I can get through about half of the roti before I'm full but still continue to eat because it's just so good. I need to try some more of the menu but keep getting drawn back to the rotis. Everything is ordered at the takeout counter the moment you walk in, but there is a large dining area to the side that is great if you want to dine in instead. They even bring the food to you and there are bottles of bright yellow hot sauce on each table for you to enjoy. A relaxing area to enjoy your food at your own pace.
google avatar

H B.

Yelp
Love this place - good portions for a decent price, and always good quality. The line ups/wait can be a bit long sometimes, so keep in mind. Also the seating area is modest, so if it's crowded it could be a bit of a wait. But, it's mostly a take out place. Everyone orders "doubles" - a small, cheap 'sandwich' with a chick pea filling, very popular. I personally recommend the jerk chicken over rice, it packs quite the flavour!

Maya V.

Yelp
After reading these comments about curry goat at this restaurant, I tried it today. It wasn't good at all. 2/5 that's all
google avatar

Sue C.

Yelp
Been there three times First time didn't have a pleasant experience with my goat roti (dry, hard and cold). Didn't go back since than but I was craving for roti so I decided to give it another try. Second time I ordered chicken roti with extra sauce (it was good). Third time I went back and got a beef roti (dry, hard and Luke warm). I think they gave me a beef roti that was sitting there for a while that someone didn't pick up. Would have given them 1 star but the girls at the counters were awesome.
google avatar

Chef A.

Yelp
Before I ordered i specifically asked if they cook the food fresh as it was 11am i found it hard to believe she made duck curry so fast as it came it was ice cold in the middle. I asked if the phulouri was made to order, she also said yes. 2 microwave beeps later my food was ready. I believe the only fresh thing here is the roti. Your best off buying plain roti from this place and find something better to put in it.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Living on the West coast for the past few years has limited my access to West Indian food - it is almost non-existent in Vancouver. This time around, during my visit home, it was necessary for me to eat something I knew I wouldn't be able to get upon returning to YVR: boneless chicken roti. The boneless chicken roti at Roti Hut was stuffed to the max. I thoroughly enjoyed it - moist chicken, ample seasoning and a roti shell with the perfect texture! If I had room, I would've tried the doubles. I guess I'll save that treat for my next visit home!
google avatar

Shawna B.

Yelp
Wow!! Best roti and doubles. I ordered stew beef roti and chicken doubles. So good and flavorful. Great service as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh man Where do I start First I miss this place Used to work nearby there and this place I used to frequent at lunch all the time Next the food Hooooo weeeee Chicken roti Doubles The food is definitely a hit Good Carribean food made proper I have to make it back for a bite to eat!!!!

Yelp
Ambiance/decor-3 Service-3 Food-3 Strikeouts-0/3 This is a nice little "fast-food" joint if you want to get a quick fix for some Indian food. When I first walked in, it looked pretty nice and clean. It wasn't anything special though. The place is exactly as you would expect just from looking at the pictures. One thing to note is that they have a hand washing station in the dining area, which comes in REAL handy, because it can get messy and really spicy for those sensitive to spicy foods. The service was mediocre, the woman behind the counter wasn't that nice to us at first, since I assume she thought we were just some high school kids that wouldn't order anything. We asked for her suggestion, and she said to get the boneless chicken breast roti. She cheered up after we ordered, and was actually pretty nice to us with a smile. We ended getting their friday/saturday special, "curry duck" roti and their suggestion, and boneless chicken breast roti. These may look small, but these are actually stuffed to the brim. Unfortunately, these are mostly roti rolled to the point where it gets really thick. You know how wraps can taste bad when it's rolled and you could only taste the dough? This is what the roti tasted like on the edges, which is unfortunate. I'm used to the thin, lightly toasted, and rich tasting roti, like the one at South Asian Malaysian Curry. The meat on the other hand was very flavourful, and for those who like spicy foods, this was not too hot. Personally too hot for me, but this should hit the medium level in terms of spiciness. The meat on top of rice looks good though when I was looking at the other people beside me. I would personally not come again, since it's not my cup of tea, but I have nothing against it.

Yelp
My go to roti and doubles place. God this place is friggin' fantastic!! Whenever I have that craving for roti or a good double, I run to The Roti Hut. Writing this review alone makes my mouth water. I've tried the plethora of rotis and doubles that Scarborough as to offer, and nobody can touch The Roti Hut. The chicken put in the roti is a tad more dry than I would like, but the flavour is ALWAYS spot on. As with the doubles, always delicious with that greasy goodness. And that's what keeps me from coming back here time and time again. The Roti Hut is perpetually consistent in quality. And that's the number one thing I always look for when I dine out. All of my top go to places have one thing in common, consistency. It's tucked away in a small down hill street, but not too far from the main road. The service here is always great, food comes out (weirdly) quick and the staff always serve you with a smile. I highly recommend The Roti Hut!
google avatar

Deepa T.

Yelp
The best place to eat if you enjoy West Indian food. Lots of veggie options and the roti will not disappoint you. I grew up with this place and it's been in busy for over 30 years. The food is amazing!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Can't say anything but good things about this place. I've had several dishes from here and have never been disappointed. The doubles and the roti and awesome

Hammad D.

Yelp
Roti Hut. (Halal) As i was in this area i search on yelp and found this place. They have amazing Doubles i tried both with beef and with chana (chickpeas). Also order paratha. (Layered roti with butter) and dhal puri (frozen) to take home as well. Truly impressed with food, service and place ambience dining in was was closed for Covid19. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
I have no idea how to take good food photos when I mangle the roti so no photos for this brief review I recently went with some friends and we tried the jerk chicken, the duck, and beef. For the amount we paid, we received great value and size (I think these rotis are at least 2lb and filled to the brim with ingredients). I enjoy spice and the levels of hotness here are definitely high. Get one of their nice sodas so you can feel that carbonated burn along with the spice :D

Yelp
Kept very clean.Air-conditioned Soft music and good environment!!! Perfect place for families. Must have ! :)

Yelp
Holy crap they're humongous! They'd make a solid paper weight or some kind of scuba equipment. I had the Goat Roti. Taste was good, but a little dry. It's a very nice place tucked away in a little neighbourhood strip mall which was a bit of a delightful surprise! Service was supremely quick and the roti was in front of my face before I could even get the change back from my order. I think Mad D., doubled her weight just by eating half of her Roti. http://app.toronto.ca/food2/DineSafeMain?userRequest=view_history&ESTABLISHMENT_ID=9013124
google avatar

Yelp
We've been eating at the Roti Hut so often lately, I feel like an update is necessary. I wished I ordered the vegetarian one even back when I ate meat because its so much better! My fav is Chick pea and potato but they also have pumpkin and spinach as an add on option. Also, instead of roti, you can get rice instead. I love the little fried dough thing they have that looks like timbits. I don't know what its called but its the first item on the sides menu and only $1-2.
google avatar

Alyssa P.

Yelp
I came back here for a second time and got to try their Jerk Chicken and Doubles with Curry Goat. I have to say I really enjoyed both of these over the Curry Goat Roti I had on my first visit. I would come back again for either of these.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for lunch Sunday afternoon. This was a good time to dine in as only a handful of customers were at the restaurant. Food did not take long to be served.

Yelp
Got the Goat Curry Roti Roti was pretty good, nice and soft! Goat tasted watered down.. But it did have enough goat and not much potatoes which is good.. Was expecting more for a 4 star Yelp restaurant tho..probably won't be back.. 2.5 stars

When I'm craving heavy and starchy food...this is it! I've only visited this place during lunch cause it's close to work and off the highway. It's not for everyone. Most of the food is spicy. For me, it's just right and my tolerance is high. Been here multiple times and always GREAT! Place is clean and nice (renovated a year ago) for a rundown plaza. Does smell like curry, once you step in. Be warned, if you're sensitive to smell. I usually order curry boneless chicken or jerk chicken in Roti or on rice. There's a great selection of beverages from Grace and more. Carbonated soft drink is great with spicy food. Their curry isn't saucy but it's not meant to be soup. If that's what you're looking for, stick to non-spicy Japanese and Thai curry. Indian and Caribbean curry is meant for dipping/side. Today, I ordered Jerk Chicken Roti with Grace's Pineapple soda that came to $10.00. You can share with two, if you're a small eater!
