The 22 Best Restaurants In The Hudson Valley 2024

"The Roundhouse should be your Beacon dinner spot. This fine dining restaurant is located in a very nice hotel, and every table has a view of the nearby creek and waterfall, whether you’re seated inside next to the floor-to-ceiling windows or on the patio. Park yourself outside under the string lights on a cool evening for maximum tourist-and-dog-watching, and order plates of deviled eggs and housemade pasta for a lovely dinner. " - anne cruz, clare lagomarsino, keith hernandez, chanize thorpe

The Roundhouse Review - Beacon - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"The Roundhouse dining room is one of the few places in Beacon where you can dress up without feeling super silly. But the large patio is much more fun and casual, with couples listening to the serene waterfall sounds and families parked at a table with bowls of crispy brussels sprouts and a tablet playing Bluey. The juicy fried chicken sandwiches are great for recovering from hiking up Beacon’s Fire Tower Mountain, and refreshing cucumber cocktails are ideal for cooling off next to the creek. photo credit: Hudson Valley Illustrated" - Anne Cruz

7 Best Day Trips from New York City

"This former dye mill (now hotel) overlooks Beacon Falls, and boy are they gorgeous, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall from the seasonally open Patio Grill. (Mother Nature did good work on both the lighting and the water feature.) The menu changes all the time, and past hits have included a burger with smoked Gouda, fried shrimp with spicy mayo, and a pretty solid salad. Keep it simple and go for wine or beer on tap; cocktails are ambitious but don’t always hit the mark. This food isn’t going to blow your mind, nor will it break the bank: You’re here for that view." - Alex Van Buren, Andrea Whittle, Devra Ferst

The Perfect Weekend Guide for Eating and Drinking in the Hudson Valley - Eater NY

"With one of the prettiest views of any restaurant in the Hudson Valley — it overlooks a waterfall from floor-to-ceiling windows — the menu here is worth a stop all on its own. Standouts include three different types of macaroni and cheese (including one with spicy lobster), gnocchi with grilled corn and heirloom tomato, and a large selection of Pat Frieda steaks. There is also more casual barbecue fare served at Smoke on the Water, The Roundhouse Hotel’s other on-site restaurant." - Juliet Izon

The RoundHouse Restaurant had a great ambience. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There is a waterfall view and it is relaxing. I had the vegan pasta dish with olives, artichoke, garlic, tomato and vegan Parmesan. The portion was perfect for one person. The pasta was soaked in the its flavor, each bite was delightful…only wish the artichokes were tender… The customer service was excellent! I parked at the hotel parking lot. They have plenty of parking!

Farm to Table? More Like Farm to Toilet. I was really looking forward to this meal… what I didn’t realize is that it would be The Last Supper. And not in a meaningful, biblical sense; more like the last supper I’ll ever have at this restaurant unless I lose a bet. They advertise themselves as a farm-to-table experience, but after last night’s stomach Olympics, I’m convinced it was more like farm to freezer to table to toilet. The shrimp we had tasted like it had been frozen and thawed more times than a Florida snowbird: rubbery, suspect, and sadly the most memorable part of the meal (for all the wrong reasons). Let’s not even get started on the other dishes. Bland, unremarkable, and just downright disappointing. I’m not sure how a farm-to-table place is slinging fish in the first place… was it farmed fish? Or did they stretch the “farm” concept all the way to the seafood aisle at Costco? The only thing saving this from a one-star review is the ambience, which was truly stunning. If I could rate the view separately, it would get five stars. Natural perfection. But ambience can’t save a meal that ends with me praying to the porcelain gods by sunrise. So here it is - two stars. One for the waterfall. One for the beer. Everything else? Straight down the toilet. Including the service. Literally.

Google
Solid spot, 4pm check in time is pretty annoying. I was in town for a wedding and they had a block at the hotel. I arrived at 1, told them the situation again and they said nothing could be done. Long story short, my room was ready with about 10 minutes to spare. Kind of annoying but thankfully it worked out. Also found it to be pretty pricey but is what it is. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and bed was comfy. I'd go back but started off a tad rocky. Great location, scenic waterfall as well.

Google
So went to wedding at the venue this weekend…the staff at the venue was hands down amazing!! Attentive and professional with the perfect setting and waterfall one of the best weddings ever been to !! Now the hotel wow what staff!! From the amazing front desk manager who took the time to lug an extra mattress for my dad to just being available for the guests !! They truly represented what a customer service and hospitality experience should be like !!!

Google
We had the joy of designing florals for a wedding at The Roundhouse in Beacon this past weekend, and it was such a beautiful experience from start to finish. The space is absolutely stunning—filled with light and character—and made the perfect backdrop for our couple’s romantic, garden-style vision. They chose a soft, dreamy palette of peach, blush, pale lavender, buttercream, and sky blue, which we brought to life through airy centerpieces, floral urns, bud vases, and a full sweetheart table install that felt like it had grown right out of the floor. Amber and the entire team were incredible to work with—so kind, organized, and on top of every detail. It made the day feel smooth and easy, which is always so appreciated. Can’t wait to be back again soon! – Karen Violetti, Owner at Bow & Rose Floral

I was eagerly looking forward to dining at the Roundhouse in Beacon, having heard promising things about the experience. While the location itself is quite beautiful, I must say our visit fell short of expectations in several ways.||The staff appeared to be stretched thin during our visit. We needed to request water refills multiple times, and when they did arrive, they were oddly served only to the person who asked. Despite ordering a lovely bottle of wine for our group, we weren't offered refills or the option to order another bottle - something I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber.||The timing between courses needed improvement, with appetizers and main dishes arriving without proper pacing. We tried a variety of dishes - French Breast Chicken, Chittara Pasta, Paella, Duck Breast, along with starters like burrata, warm baguette and Brussels sprouts. While everything was adequate, at this price point I was hoping for dishes that would truly impress rather than simply satisfy.||At the end of our evening, we encountered a small but telling issue with our exit. The door we had initially entered through was closed as we were leaving near closing time. We had to navigate back through the restaurant to find an exit near the restrooms. What disappointed me was that staff members observed our confusion without offering assistance or direction.||I recognize these are challenging times for the restaurant industry, and I genuinely hope the Roundhouse can address these service issues. The venue has such wonderful potential, and with some improvements to staffing and attention to detail, it could truly shine in the area.

Google
We had a late dinner at The Roundhouse and despite concerning reviews, had a pleasant dinner. The Roundhouse Burger, Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, and Pork Tacos were well-prepared without a very long wait because it was close to closing time. Service was satisfactory but a little less attentive than I would have preferred. The patio dining ambiance and scenic view were a good vibe.

Google
The food wasn’t great — the pasta was a bit dry, and the bread on the chicken sandwich had a slightly bitter taste. We asked the server about it after checking a few times, and she offered to remake it, but we weren’t sure if the second one would taste any different. It felt a bit helpless, so we just let it go. That said, the view of the waterfall is lovely, and there was no wait in the afternoon. It’s a nice spot for photos and a quick visit, but I wouldn’t come here just for the food.

Yelp
I recently (last night) was at the Roadhouse to attend a wedding and was very impressed with the beauty of the facility and the surrounding area. A special shout out to the wait staff for their efficiency, friendliness and organization. Also the food was excellent - especially my two favorite parts of any meal - the appetizers and the desserts! I would absolutely recommend considering this venue for a wedding or other milestone event. Of course since I was a guest, I have no idea what it costs! :-)

Yelp
We traveled an hour on Labor Day weekend to this rustic town to visit a museum and dine at The Roundhouse which we found online. Arriving 30 minutes before our scheduled reservation the host was quite rude and wouldn't accommodate our early arrival time despite several empty tables. He made us wait at the bar. We ordered drinks and appetizers from a lovely female bartender whose name we didn't catch. She was a rock star in pleasantries and service. The deviled eggs and Cajun tater tots were delicious. The rude host promised to come get us at our scheduled reservation time but didn't so we had to announce our arrival again and were seated in the indoor dining room. For summer dining the outdoor area is recommended. The indoor dining room is lovely but for parties of two one person faces away from the dining room and towards a waterfall. The Caesar salad is a bit strange and tough to cut through but tasty nonetheless. The fish tacos are enormous and too much to eat. However they are flavorful and grilled fish rather than fried. Our server was efficient and the dining experience pretty good. I'd recommend with caution and suggest avoiding the rude host and sitting outside.

Yelp
The setting and ambiance are beautiful. The experience though is marred by very average to poor food and an awful waitress. They offer bread for $9 which is fine for a baquette but it came out stale and when the waitress was told she didn't offer to take it off the check. The octopus was lousy with a weird taste. Crab Cakes very mediocre. Coconut Desert was tasty but it came with the smallest scoop of sorbet I have ever seen. For $14 give a decent scoop of Sorbet. I then ordered another sorbet which was two scoops and it was beyond the waitress capacity to make it two different sorbet flavors. She said it had to be same flavor for both scoops. I've had sorbet for 20+ years and every restaurant allows you to choose different sorbets for each scoop when its a portion of 2 or 3. Then she gives us the check for a very expensive dinner and doesn't even thank us. Very rude service yet we still gave a nice tip. The setting is beautiful but it seems like management doesn't care about their customers or upgrading the dining experience.

Yelp
I'd rate the Roundhouse three and a half stars. The main draw here is that the restaurant is built right top of the creek offering a wonderful view of the waterfall. We grabbed some drinks while relaxing and enjoying the view. I had a Kolsch.

Yelp
Stopped by the Roundhouse event space, in order to take in the waterfall and the beautiful surroundings. Do not come into Beacon without taking all of this in. As you walk along Main Street, you'll hear the waterfall calling to you. Whoever celebrates a milestone here, is in for a memorable time.

Yelp
Walking into the Roundhouse, you can't help but stop and stare for a second at the view. The restaurant sits on the edge of what is essentially some white water rapids and is overlooked by a waterfall around 100 feet away. It was one of the most beautiful restaurants/bars I had ever been to. However I didn't have too much time to stop and smell the roses as I noticed a huge wedding party dressed to the nines trailing just behind me. I got a seat at the bar as quickly as possible as I know the chaos that is about to ensue. Sure enough, 5 minutes later it was me and 50+ wedding guests all haggling for a drink at the bar. I sat and scanned the menu and honestly, I dont know why I even look at a menu these days ahaha I know I'm just gonna fall back on a negroni anyways. It was just me, my negroni, and I with a prime time people watching setting. The superbowl of people watching: One girl making it known to everyone how great sober life is, one guy awkwardly trying to buy a girl he is clearly interested in a drink, a couple arguing about if they should go check on their kids really quick, a fun older couple (the only other 2 sitting at the bar), bartenders getting annoyed with a few of the more sauced customers, 2 single guys talking about the bridesmaids, etc. At this point, the negroni began to take me by the horns. This was one of the strongest negroni's I've ever had. The bitter Campari, sweet vermouth, and herbal gin all fused together to pack one hell of a punch that put me on my ass. I was planning on getting 2 because I was so interested in the live drama show happening all around me, but my one drink felt like 3 so it was time to throw in the towel and BOUNCE. I didn't eat here as I had a dinner scheduled, and based off of the other reviews, I'm happy I didn't ahahah y'all are dragging this place DAMN. I will come back here for another super saiyan negroni one day though. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Yelp
The review is for the outside bar and patio. We spent early Sunday afternoon having drinks at the outside bar while people watching and looking at the waterfall and the river. Haven't tried the food but the atmosphere was great. Had to take obligatory photo of the waterfall

Yelp
A must see in Beacon. We will be back with friends. We dined here for a late lunch-early dinner anniversary and had an excellent meal. The menu is varied and simple but exacted with care and selectivity. Our server got busy, but the other servers stepped in to share the weight. The entire experience felt very well coordinated. The views are to die for. Have a stop in the lounge for a look out the window before making your way to your table. Dogs welcome. Pistachio creme brulee not pictured.

Yelp
The service was great. Thankfully, I had a server named ginell. She was super sweet, I came in for a quick drink and bite to eat. Mainly for a nice cocktail after a long day at work. I forgot the name of the cocktail, but it involved tequila, which was a $16 drink. Instead of the house tequila, I wanted Don Julio, and for that request, a $16 drink turned into a $50 drink. Who makes up these prices? Although I had the money, I wasn't going to pay that amount. Insane! The fish tacos were good, and the cappuccino was OK. Overall, it was the ambiance for me it was a lovely day to enjoy a beautiful waterfall for a piece of mind. Great place to bring company for a good time.

Yelp
This place has amazing views and a unique view of the rushing water. The interior is gorgeous. But, this half of the story. Cocktails and wine are nice. The food had a nice presentation, but as far as taste and temperature not so great. We had the parsnip soup which was bland and almost room temperature. Our entrees trout, lamb ragu, filet mignon, and chicken were also at near room temperature. Also, the chicken was dry. Our server was very nice and attentive. I enjoyed this place, but would probably only come here for drinks and snacks saving my money for a better meal elsewhere.

Rokujo M.

Yelp
We had a great time. The drinks were great - peach sangria, welcome to the jungle, passionate lemonade. Also enjoyed the fish taco app and my buttermilk chicken sandwich. Also enjoyed the ribs. Views are nice too. Server Alexandra was very good.

Marguerite F.

Yelp
This is not a good restaurant. The Fish 'n Chips were soggy; the salmon undercooked and the accompanying couscous had odd seasonings (currants and what tasted like a mix of tamari and balsamic vinegar). The service was well-meaning but so casual as to be unprofessional. And the prices are delusional--this is by no means "fine dining."
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
The Roundhouse restaurant is located in the namesake hotel overlooking waterfall and serving elegant American fare. We came for a birthday brunch and enjoyed the views as well as the great food. We started off with a basket of fresh baked croissants and blueberry muffins served with jam and vermont creamery salted butter. For mains, we had the lump crab meat eggs Benedict, smoked maple cheddar omelette, avocado toast, and chicken and waffles with a cinnamon butter so good I want to put that on all pancakes and waffles going forward. We over-ordered a bit and also had sides of burrata and sizeable meatballs. Roundhouse makes for an fantastic special occasion brunch with scenic views

Yelp
I'm gluten free and had a nice dinner here on a Friday night in July. Outdoor seating was closed due to air quality issues, but the inside dining area still faced a lovely floor-to-ceiling view of the waterfall and streams. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were gluten free by default and very good. The rice wrapping was thick to hold the decent portion of veggies. We ordered the Burrata with the crostini on a separate plate. The cheese was excellent-- the inside spilled out when we split it in two. My boyfriend really loved the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, particularly calling out the bacon jam. And my Crispy Duck Salad was A+ (they held the shallots for GF). Service was a little slow. We didn't bring it up but heard the couple next to us talking about it. And I wish the server would've been more knowledgeable about what changes when you order a dish with the "make gluten free" option instead of running to ask the kitchen every time. But with two alcoholic bevs our bill was only $116, so decent price for the experience and quality overall. Would come back for sure!

Yelp
Beautiful venue located in a quaint little town in upstate ny. I loved the backdrop of the river which made the ambiance so nice. Enjoyed our time here and found the food to be pretty good too. Plenty of parking as well in case you drive in. Worth checking out!

Yelp
Such a beautiful location and restaurant! Professional service . Interesting menu (Sunday brunch) a bit pricey but worth the ambiance. Beware though .... 6 oz of ice tea $4.50 no refills!! It was very tasty !

Yelp
Had an early Mother's Day dinner here and the view was absolutely amazing!! The service was ehhhh.. We were seating very quickly and greeted by a server who offered us water and soft drinks. He then never returned to take our order. 15mins later another server stated that she would be taking over our table. Ok cool. Drinks were decent but the food was subpar but very pleasantly presented. Upon the completion of our meal we overheard the table next to us being offered fresh baguette and olive oil and the days special. Mmmmm I guess these were added to the menu after we placed our order. Things to make you go mmmmmm!!

Sj B.

Yelp
The food was great and it didnt take long to be served.I came on a Saturday and i was seated right away even though i came 3 hrs ahead of my reservation. The place was great with both indoor and outdoor seating with great views of the falls. The staffs were great and friendly and seated me on the perfect spot i was wishing for. Thank you!
google avatar

Keeka K.

Yelp
The food isn't great but the view is amazing. The service is good and the prices are decent. The butternut squash soup I ordered was inedible, which thankfully was noted and I wasn't charged. Eggs Benedict and grilled cheese were good, and worth ordering again. All of the drinks ordered were good too.
google avatar

Eileen Z.

Yelp
This restaurant is so beautiful with its high ceilings, sprawling dining room and floor to ceiling windows that look out on the water! The staff was very friendly and courteous. Of the items we ordered, the chicken sandwich was our favorite. The other items were interesting but didn't quite deliver as well as I'd hoped, but it was made up for with the ambiance.
google avatar

Joey D.

Yelp
This place is def better than the 3 stars rating they have. When in Beacon experience the iconic Roundhouse. You can't find a place like this where you live.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Beautiful location, elegant and modern with the upstate-rustic essence. Food options were great, it was a weekend so the service can only be as quick as it can. Good option for a more "upscale" experience in Beacon

Joan T.

Yelp
We love this place and always dine here when we come to Beacon. The view of the waterfalls are breathtaking whether you sit outside which is preferable on a beautiful day, but it it starts to rain as it just happened we had to dine inside. The food is always great in addition to the service and the cocktails are the best. This place is on the pricey side but worth it.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
First, this is a beautiful space, both inside and out, with wonderful views of the falls! Cocktail and wine selections are excellent. The food is perfectly plated and simply delicious. The staff is very efficient, enthusiastic, and friendly. We haven't been here in a long while, but will be back regularly from now on.

Heather H.

Yelp
I stayed away from Roundhouse for 6 months after multiple unpleasant dinning experiences over the years. We figured let's give it a go tonight & ugh, it was horrible. I never write reviews but, this experience was awful & I hope this can help someone make an informed decision on their next dinner plan. Food: My salad had so much vinegar on it my lips were burning. My chicken entree was so overcooked It was hard to cut. It was embarrassing how badly the food was cooked & put together. Service: 3 stars-they couldn't be bothered, doing bare minimum to be working there Ambiance: The place has a beautiful location/view, It's their only saving grace
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Great views, food is subpar I ordered the rabbit and it was wrapped in bacon but this was not stated on the menu. I do not eat pork so had to send it back and wait 20+ minutes for a new dish. My partner's chicken sandwich was burnt at the end pieces and overly greasy. Better to come for a drink and enjoy the views and eat somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
The food, service, and view were exquisite when I visited to celebrate my birthday. It was truly a remarkable experience. Our waitress, Claire, was fantastic. This is one of the best places I've visited in 2024.
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
It's everything the ambiance the food the service - everything is top notch - make time for a nice day in the summer or just to stroll through the town - it's like a best kept secret in upstate NY. I can't begin to tell you how attentive they were to me as I'm in cane as some other places don't care that you are disabled temporarily thank you for having me
google avatar

Yelp
Bacon was Raw, and charged 12 dollars for 3 pieces Very surprising since we were there before But will not go back

Yelp
The restaurant's location, view, and ambience cannot be beat. It's incredibly romantic restaurant, with an industrial, but cozy feel, situated over a waterfall. The building's been beautifully restored from an abandoned and dilapidated hat factory into a grand restaurant and hotel. We had dinner here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The host was rather surly and grumpy. It's kinda too bad because I really believe that a host is an essential position for a restaurant as they represent the restaurant's public persona and sets the mood for evening. A guest's first impression of an establishment is from the interactions with the host. Our server was super sweet and attentive, which made the experience very nice. The food was mixed. The shrimp and grits dish was easily the BEST shrimp and grits I have ever had anywhere. The colossal shrimps were fresh as fresh can be, and the sauce was perfect. The shrimp heads were cooked perfectly, with little bubbles of sizzling goodness hinting at the juicy deliciousness about to pour out with the first bite. The flavors were bold and titillating for the taste buds. The halibut dish with cauliflower purée was rather bland and lacks flavor. The dish was OK, but a bit underwhelming. The fish was fresh and cooked well, but nothing memorable about the dish. I'd definitely come back here the next time we're in Beacon. Would I recommend this place? YES! Get the shrimp and grits!

Tom R.

Yelp
i thought the food was very good and the location was very nice. service also very good. the ambiance seemed geared more towards pushing tables than a relaxed experience. but i would still recommend it and go back. there aren't many high end places in main st and this place at least seems likes it's trying to provide that

Matt W.

Yelp
Great view of the waterfall. Food is very good. Plenty of parking. Service can be a little slow so make sure you aren't in a hurry. One of the best date night restaurants in Beacon. Worth the effort.
google avatar

Christopher G.

Yelp
Great views, terrible restaurant. The food was undercooked and over salted. The wait staff was undertrained and un-professional and would probably feel more at home working fast food than doing table service. Drinks were terrible - too sweet, no alcohol or watered down. Our table of 8 was ignored and served subpar food. This restaurant was probably good a few years ago but save yourself the time, money and disappointment. The Yankee Clipper diner down the street was 100% better food and friendlier staff We won't be back

Ruoqi D.

Yelp
I was visiting beacon for a day and went there for dinner with my boyfriend. We got seated at 7pm and our server got us water and takes our order quickly and never came back. After we had our appetizer, we waited 40 minutes for our entree. During this period, our water is empty and never refilled by our server, and our finished plates still sits on the table and it was another woman server who cleaned it up and refilled the water. After 20 minutes, our server finally came back and asks us how's the food. When I'm sitting there for an hour and never got my entree. After I let him know we never got the entree he quickly runs to the kitchen and brings it out to the table. And the food was cold. We wanted medium for the steak it turned out well done. However, the food and environment is great. But not the service.

Yelp
Host was rude. (Older man) After I arrived to a nearly empty outside area shortly after opening, He - the host - stopped me from going inside and said the inside was closed. I explained I was going to the bathroom to wash up before asking for a table outside.... He said okay and let me proceed. Then throughout my visit and meal, several parties were sat inside. Very odd. He also took phone messages while we stood at host station, waiting to be acknowledged. Our server, female, was very good. Food was good but very very expensive for portion size. The Burrata came with 3 pieces of crostini. They were less than 1/2 the size of a dinner role all together. Clearly not enough, and so we asked if we could order more. Server quickly answered yes, like it was asked all the time, but explained there is a charge of $3. Fine. The next set of crostini came out after a LONG wait and it was much more but had cinnamon toast in it!?! It was sad that they are okay charging for this. The octopus appetizer was the star of the day, but at $26, was expensive. Drinks expensive, too. As we left, we walked by several staff and none thanked us for our visit or showed any warmth. This place has a nice view. SOME of the staff were friendly and smiling, others were not. The food is good but didn't blow us away and for the price point, you can do better. There was also a yellow jacket or bee problem during our visit. The woman at the table next to us was stung and several bugged us and other tables during our meal.

Yelp
The food can be hit or miss here! However it's always a good time on the patio with a few drinks and good company. I do wish they had Tajin for their Paloma's, I ended up adding my own but a little chamoy and Tajin would be juuuust right and it's not like they're hard to find ingredients in Beacon (a predominantly Latino town). Anyways the crab cakes are so delicious and I love the sauce they come in too! It the first time I've not been given some lemon to add to my crab cake and when I asked for some it never got brought out but not a big deal. The summer salad was said to have grilled peaches so I was thinking fresh grilled peaches but instead they were soggy and maybe had been grilled the day before because the skin was dry and hard and the peach flesh was all cold and slimy, it was pretty bad. We've come here several times but this most recent time was not as great...in the future I think we will just come for some drinks and enjoying the view on the patio!

Joel K.

Yelp
Food was good staff was good management was terrible. Restaurant was half empty and they would not accommodate two more people at our table to celebrate a birthday. All the experience and qualifications do not equate to common sense. I would never go back

Yelp
We took a family trip here and booked two rooms. We also had dinner reservations at the restaurant downstairs one night. Both rooms were in the building with the restaurant (closest to the falls). Pros: - the view is obviously incredible and the white noise from the falls. At night they turn on the lights on the falls. - great location. It's walking distance to Main Street in one direction, as well as an amazing playground if you're traveling with kids that's the other direction. - room 101 is probably the best view of the falls. It's in the bottom corner of the building and has all views of the falls. - room 301 is on the top floor with a balcony. Nice view of the falls, especially from the balcony. The bathroom has three shower heads, and the soaking tub is wonderful. Cons: - Check-in/check out is in a different building. - our building didn't have much of an area to hang out and relax at outside of the room. There is a fireplace and two couches but it's a small area that's often taken up by people hanging out by the bar. - our balcony in room 301 was very gravely; not quite paved and could have been more inviting to stay out there. Restaurant - dinner with the most amazing view, inside and outside the restaurant. - our server was so sweet and gave us honest recommendations. - I wish the website mentioned that one Sundays their usual dinner menu is abbreviated because they have breakfast all day. - I liked my salmon with vegetables, but the white fish entree was cooked in a hot oil sauce that was felt greasy. The ramen was spicier than anticipated, and the noodles weren't the typical ramen noodles.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were staying at the Roundhouse so we decided to give their restaurant a shot for dinner. Reservations can be made easily online and we didn't have any issues finding a time that worked best for us. We were seated near the window so we had a nice view of the waterfall and the waves. This restaurant is literally on the edge of the water! The ambiance and overall vibe of the place was spot on. They have an extensive drink menu and a nicely curated dinner menu that has a little bit for everyone. We ordered the Roundhouse Mac n' Cheese with spinach and wild mushroom ($18), Herbal Risotto ($24), and the Roundhouse Burger ($20). The food came out quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The star of the dinner was definitely the French Vanilla Crème Brûlée ($10). This came with an almond financier which was so buttery and delicious. The service was attentive and staff checked in with us throughout our meal. Overall we had a pleasant experience and a memorable anniversary dinner.

Yelp
We didn't stay at the hotel and only had lunch there on Saturday, so I cannot vouch for the quality of the hotel. However, I can confidently say that the food was very disappointing. I'm uncertain about the past condition of this place, but I recently visited on March 18th, so I can provide an insight into its present state. We ordered a Caesar salad, duck breast, and pasta. The Caesar salad was unimpressive and tasted like a plate of romaine due to the lack of dressing and cheese. I requested additional dressing and cheese, but was informed that it would cost an extra $3. This was confusing as the dish seemed incomplete without them. The pasta was extremely salty, which ironically could have balanced the flavor of the bland salad. But I don't think the sum of two incomplete foods can be called as the complete meal. My wife barely touched it, even though it was her first meal of the day. During our lunch, another group was also complaining about their food, specifically a sandwich. This confirmed that our disappointing experience was not unique and that others had also been let down by the restaurant. In conclusion, I strongly advise against dining at this place if you plan to have lunch in Beacon.

Yelp
Stayed at this gorgeous place for a wedding event....when we first arrived, I would've given this place five stars, but once we checked in and got to our room, things quickly went downhill. Walked into our ($400ish) room, and all we could smell was BUG SPRAY!! Soon found out why, as a wasp dive-bombed me! The maintenance guy came in and killed the wasp, but we were left with an uneasy feeling, sharing our room with a potential nest of wasps for two days. No ice machines (not a bad thing, you just need to call front desk and wait for room service and plan ahead. The fridge in the room froze everything, and burst the soda bottles that were for purchase. No idea if we were charged for those. Finally, the bathroom doors were barn-door style, which wasn't a huge problem until the door BROKE and wouldn't close! Quite the romantic experience when you must share your most personal moments with your loved ones.... Overall, the venue is gorgeous, and the wedding was absolutely spectacular! The food was amazing, and the service was great. The pastries delivered to your room in the morning were delicious, too! The rooms could use some serious work, especially at almost $500/night, however, so therefore only three stars. If you're going to market as a destination five-star venue, you need to go all the way.

Yelp
Expensive. Meh service in the dining room. Ambiance - well I live here, so the falls are not a novel invention. Running water. Moreover having stayed in the hotel it smells of sewage in the rooms. Not a place to return for drinks, food or rooms.

Yelp
Can not beat the view here!!! Service isn't super fast, but overall everything was good. For me, the Mac and cheese was the unexpected winner of the evening!!

Yelp
A wonderful dinner spot! Came here with my future in laws and we got seated after a shorter than expected wait and had a wonderful meal. Some of our choices were more traditional american and some were delightful fusion dishes. And the dessert was incredible. The views from the dining room over the creek are haunting and powerful. A wonderful experience here, highly recommend.

Yelp
The Roundhouse has an overall rating of 3 on Yelp. I agree with that. Located right next to the gorgeous Fishkill Overlook Falls, I recently hosted a luncheon for a party of 4 there. It was lunch with the best view in town. I'd recommend the amazing view, the super air-conditioning on a hot day, the lattes and the creme brûlées. The entrees and appetizers, however, were meh. I do not recommend the Spanish Octopus. I've dined on great octopus before. This was not. Instead, it was rubbery and the taste was strange. My Burrata salad left everyone at my table stunned. It was so small. What happened to all of the beautiful freshly marinated tomatoes that traditionally come with this dish? The Fish and Chips came mounded with a ridiculous amount of fries to full up the plate. A nightmare for any cardiologist. There wasn't much fish, but it was nicely fried. The service is another matter. The lunch staff that day was very young. Our bus boy was 15. Our server didn't look much older. It took a bit long before she came to take our order, but once she did, the food came in a reasonable amount of time. However, it got really strange when the time came for her to bring the check to me. I was hosting. She knew I was ready to pay and that my friends were in a hurry to leave. They came from far away and had a long drive ahead of them. Our server repeatedly urged me to "make sure the check was correct." She emphasized the word, "correct." Naturally, she seemed to think something was wrong. It was. I was being way overcharged on Scotch Whiskey. When I asked about it, she acted indignant and insisted the charge was correct. "It was a double," she said. A double Macallan 12 for $68? See photo of bill. The bars and restaurants in Albany charge $20 or $25 for a double. I could buy more than a bottle of Macallan 12 for that price. The server, who looked barely old enough to serve or handle liquor, had apparently been prepped by her bosses to anticipate a possible confrontation. Should I escalate the situation and ask for a manager? I didn't want to make a scene and it seems the restaurant was counting on that. My friends were waiting. I didn't want them to take their leave witnessing an ugly scene. We had such a nice time catching up, even if the overpriced food wasn't great. I wanted my friends to have good memories. So I paid the bill. I tried to call the restaurant a few days later to see if something could be done to correct the bill, but it went to a recording. I've posted the bill. It was an expensive meal. I crossed out the server's name. I don't wish to traumatize her. She was doing her job. It would have been wonderful to promote this restaurant as a great dining experience on Yelp. It wasn't. The falls are certainly worth checking out, but if you go to the restaurant, remember to check the liquor prices before ordering. They aren't posted or listed. I'll always remember the Roundhouse as the place that apparently overcharges for some hard liquors. It's not an experience I wish to repeat. When we first arrived, I overheard the staff complaining that very few customers were ordering alcoholic drinks. They said that just about everyone there was ordering iced teas--the non-alcoholic kind. The other customers apparently knew something that I did not. Lesson learned.

Yelp
My partner and I had a reservation at 6pm last Thursday. The restaurant was not very busy. The seating area with the larger windows and better views of the waterfall seemed to be closed, which was a bummer, but there were some ok views in the area where we were seated too. All the food was remarkable! The crispy Brussels sprouts were out of this world. I thought the oxtail tater tots could have used some kind of salsa or hot sauce to cut through the richness, but the flavors of the dish were so good I would definitely still recommend it. I had the pappardelle pasta for my entree, which was also delicious. It was a lot like a carbonara, but with veggies like squash and some kind of roasted tomatoes cooked into it, which gave it some refreshing sweetness and made it taste a lot lighter than a typical carbonara. Our server was a woman with straight blonde hair. She was very attentive, checking in on us regularly, and went out of her way to make our experience better. She got me a piece of bread to have with my pasta even though they don't usually offer bread other than as a whole basket that you have to purchase. The atmosphere was on the fancy side, but still laid back like a high end lounge or swanky bar. Overall it was a great experience and I'd definitely go back next time I'm in town to try more of what they have on the menu.

Yelp
Delicious restaurant with a world-class view overlooking the waterfalls in Beacon. Perfect place for a Sunday brunch or lunch, especially when the stunning fall colored leaves are falling everywhere. The space is divided into two sections, the main restaurant with the huge bay windows and then the lounge area with a fire place and bar, albeit narrower windows overlooking the falls. Food was fabulous, though definitely on the sweeter side (brunch anyways). I had the Autumn Squash Bisque which has cornbread croutons and whipped pumpkin - absolutely divine. A little sweet for my taste though. Following this I went for Chicken and Waffles - just excellent. The chicken was large with crispy chick-fil-a 'esque' outside and tender, juicy inside. The waffle was large and soft, and came with maple syrup and cinnamon butter. Yummm. Service was just decent though. It was easy to tell they were having staffing issues, as is everyone in the service industry. No biggie - we didn't wait forever.

Yelp
I'd never heard of this place before meeting up with some friends for brunch. If you don't know where it is, it's easy to drive by it a few times. Also, it's separated from the hotel so don't go inside the hotel looking for it. You'll need to follow the signs in the parking lot. You can park in the hotel lot and walk over. It's a short walk. Ambience was fantastic. It looked really nice inside and there's an outside patio over looking the falls. We weren't able to make a reservation outside but that would have been fantastic. I believe it's first come first serve. Maybe next time. The food was good, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. The presentation was impressive though. Very cute. The customer service was just average. Unfortunately the ladies I had brunch with needed to ask for an alternate drink Because their coffees were old and burned tasting. I think I'd return for drinks on the patio as they had a nice bar but probably wouldn't come in to dine. The menu was okay and felt like the location had more to offer in a social capacity as opposed to actual meals.
