this is a great date night spot or even just a spot to enjoy a nice evening by yourself. it’s not too loud or crowded, at least on weekdays. the menu changes a lot so it’s always exciting to return and see what they have the current menu is a little fish forward (which i don’t like) but i still found good food to try. i love how they play with different types of flavors and textures. the dishes are layered and far from one-note. the cocktails are also fun and have a unique spin to them the staff is super friendly and welcoming too. the place is a little pricey but worth the splurge if you can afford it. wish they did brunch!

We were very excited to try The Roxy because we've been going to Corto for years and have had amazing food every visit! Unfortunately, The Roxy didn't wow us as much as Corto. I will start off with the bad and say our fish plate was full of bones and dangerous to eat. It seems like a pretty amateur mistake to not properly debone fish, especially for the price and sophistication of the place. We were also not offered to get it remade or removed from the bill. The Chicken was very good but a little dry. The sauce definitely helped but the sauce was thick — like mashed potato consistency and not liquid. It would have been nice for the chicken to be a little juicier. The flavors were good though. The rice was kinda meh and crunchy and didn't have any garlic flavor as advertised. There also wasn't a full vegetarian entree option which was disappointing because we don't always want to eat meat or fish. Also almost every item had soy in it which I completely understand but I do have a soy intolerance so I was limited to the chicken on this menu as I was told nothing could be modified at the time. Even the butter with the bread appetizer was miso butter! The waitress did not understand why I just wanted regular butter with the bread and thought I was crazy. The stars of the menu were the asparagus and Hollandaise and the scallion potato pancake. We could have eaten 10 plates! Very delicious and full of rich flavor. The desserts were also fantastic and made our meal better! I would go just for dessert and wine to be honest. Overall, since the menu changes we would go back and try new things but would avoid any fish. This is a great low-key date night spot.

Finally got a chance to try The Roxy and it did not disappoint! Started with the scallion potato, hakurei turnip, and seared mushrooms. Then shared the whole sea bream. Ended with passion fruit ice cream and toasted sesame flan. I can't even choose a favorite dish and our server gave great recommendations. Would definitely go back to try more on their menu!

Update from February: My below review was from an August visit. However, I recently returned and the food was fantastic. Definitely try their current menu. Order the mussels, kimchi potatoes and falafel! So I was excited to try this place but it didn’t blow me away. I went in August so their menu is currently different. The octopus and lentils was overcooked and the sausage with it was burnt. The duck breast was good but a bit underwhelming since I think it needed citrus. The Halibut was fantastic and made me regret getting the Duck but the real star was the crispy duck fat potatoes! I would definitely try this place again. The service was good and they have good drinks.

We're thrilled to have discovered this new restaurant in Jersey City. The food was both outstanding and distinctive. I tried the Maria Clara cocktail, which surprised me with its unique and delightful flavors. Beyond the amazing meal, the service was warm and attentive. Altogether, it was a truly memorable experience. We arrived early and by the time we left the restaurant was full and we weren't surprised. Highly recommend.

Google
I really wanted The Roxy to be a 5 star, as u love Corto. However, my honest thoughts are “not bad, not great”. It is nice to have a cocktail option and The Roxy does a decent job with every drink option. The appetizers were what stood out the most to me. Great Cobb salad and really good octopus apps. The entrees, ehhh alright. We had falafel and lettuce wraps. Hate saying it, but I wouldn’t order again.

We first discovered The Roxy while looking for a new date night spot a few months ago. After our first experience with the comfortable and modern space, excellent staff, thoughtful cocktails, and a wide variety of excellent menu options and desserts - we decided to hold a moderate-sized post-wedding dinner here - and absolutely loved it! We had a perfect semi-private area in the rear of the dining room with enough space for our 16+ person party (including children). Everything was planned perfectly with the help of the owner, and included discussion with nearly all kitchen staff during a sit-down meeting. We had very quick correspondence throughout, and were given quite a lot of freedom with planning the prix-fixe menu options. Our menu (pictured) was phenomenal and priced very reasonably. As everything here depends on seasonal availability of fresh ingredients - I hope you’re lucky enough to try the prawns, and tiger steak! As far as dessert, all of them are created in house. While my personal favorite was the calamansi tart, the crunchy salted caramel ice cream seemed to be the big hit with our families. We’ll be back as often as possible for the pandan cocktails and delicious desserts, too! Thank you for helping us plan something super memorable.

Street parking wasn't an issue around 6pm. Food was Savory and very filling. Seasoning was exceptional, not too salty! The service was excellent, though the prices leaned toward the higher side, with cocktails costing $15-$16 and main dishes ranging from $25-$40. Despite this, I would definitely return!

Yelp
Had a very good time and great food at the Roxy! We started with the chamomile old fashioned cocktails. They were delicious and very smooth! We tried the muscles app and it was pretty tasty. I tried the halibut while my lady tried the short rib. They were both very delicious and packed with flavor. The service was great! Our waiter was Anthony and he took great care of us! We will be back!

Yelp
It was aight - my bf and I also came in after the Justin Timberlake concert was canceled so there's that. *wah* the staff is very friendly and attentive. The inside is sleek, modern and elegant. I tried a mezcal cocktail which was delicious. The cavatelli was delectable but a little underdone and salty. The trout was delicious - huge portion and interesting presentation with the head on. The crisp, more fried portions I found delicious along with the marinated veggies on top. Was a bit sad the waitress had said there was only one halibut left and someone else ordered it right before us. Also the chocolate dessert wasn't able to be prepared to go, however the meal was overall tasty and presented well. Loved the background music and ambience. Seems like perfect spot to grab dinner or hang especially if you live locally or are staying at the adjacent hotel. :)

Yelp
Finally got to go last night and I can't say enough good things about The Roxy. Our waiter was a true professional and he knew every detail about the menu. We were a large party so we ordered almost every item. Every dish was beautifully presented with a unique and interesting flavor profile - so many gems on the menu! Hard to pick a favorite but the sea bream, twice baked potatoes, falafel and mussels were standouts. Can't wait to make it back!

Yelp
Phenomenal experience! Went with two friends, and while they didn't have any walk in tables available we sat at the bar which was great because the bartender was really friendly. The menu is definitely smaller, but it changes often. Everything we ordered was fresh and had so much flavor. There was a ricotta & duck stuffed ravioli as an appetizer, the octopus was really tender and the Cavetelli pasta was so unique - it was almost in a Marsala type sauce with mushrooms? 10s across the board! Huge drink menu as well, and the inside is super cute. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Our first time here was a great experience. Our server had extensive menu knowledge and was very personable. Our party of 5 had plenty of space and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. The menu is "French Asian fusion." This is a nice quiet spot to catch up with friends and the food leaves you feeling satisfied, not stuffed.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Hudson County. Their menu is creative, American cuisine with nods to French recipes and Asian flavors. Hard to find a better combination of cuisines imo. We had mussels and sardine toast to start- the mussel sauce was both smoky and sweet but not overpowering. I'm dreaming about it now, days later. For mains we both had the duck entrees- the Pithivier and the seared breast. Duck breast is one of those things I have to order if it's on the menu, and their's is one of the best I've ever had, internationally. It was so incredibly tender and flavorful. Absolutely gorgeous interior decor, can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This was my second visit to this establishment. I was greeted warmly upon arrival which to me is a big plus. Our server Phillipe was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The food was fabulous. My brother from Nashville was thoroughly impressed. It was my birthday but we passed on dessert so they came out with a lite candle. Love this place!!!

Yelp
Was very excited to try a new place close to work. Bar area looks bright and exciting but the dining room was a bit too dull for me. Seating is very close. I'm a wide bottom girl and had difficulty getting in and out. Service was on point. But timing out of the kitchen was off. Cocktails were delicious and there were a good variety of exotic options. Ordered the liver parfait which was served with two whole pieces of bread absolutely delicious. I ordered the halibut which was served cold and raw in the center, but yet it had an excellent crusty sear on top. Our waitress immediately brought it back into the kitchen and was told they would make me a brand new one. My friend ordered the pork chop , she was surprised to see it was off the bone and pre-sliced making it a bit dry. It came whole collared green leaves with kimchi. We ordered the duck potatoes as a side dish as my halibut only came with four cockles. The potatoes were served immediately after our appetizer and were cold by the time our dinner arrived. They want ice cold by the time I got my second halibut. The highlight of the night was the strawberry rhubarb pie absolutely fantastic. Best thing I ate all night. The manager brought us an after dinner drink apologizing for the fish. I found the portions to be quite small for the price they were charging. I'll give it one more try in a month or so. Satis or 87 Sussex are a better option.

Yelp
I finally got a chance to check out The Roxy after seeing it opened months back. I wasn't sure what to expect given that it's pretty unassuming from the outside. But the entire meal was stellar. I highly recommend the pork chop and summer vegetables gratin. The staff was great throughout the meal too. Just a great experience all around, even the night's soundtrack was fantastic. Who doesn't love Queen?! What a great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
We were immediately impressed as we entered The Roxy's tasteful decor - warm hues of color throughout the lounge and dining area. Hostess seated us and we were greeted by our waiter, Anthony, who brought us water and menus to make selections for drinks and food. Pleasant, no rushing. Anthony was very personable during our visit. Anthony was most describing dishes we were contemplating, very helpful. Our drinks were great! Our party ordered the Hot Buttered Rum (perfect for a chilly evening), a Peppered Pear (rave review!), and Jack's Abby Craft Lager House Lager, Hells Lager (a good one). We started with an appetizer, the Smoked Whitefish Spread - shallot, chive, dill, accompanied by house crackers. This appetizer was delicious! For dinner, our party ordered the Beef Short Rib - gem lettuce, sweet pickle, basil, and house sauce. This dish, hands down was a favorite. The beef was cooked to perfection, and so flavorful! Unique dish you could prepare your own "wrap" with the gem lettuce with the sauce and ribbons of flavorful carrots. Anthony provided additional pieces of the gem lettuce - wonderful service. The other dish was the Cavatelli - local mushroom, garlic, shallot and white miso - a delicious dish! Anthony's attention to detail and provided impeccable service. Anthony surprised us with a candle on a plate to commemorate us celebrating a birthday of one in our party. Too full for dessert, we ended the meal with a delicious cup of coffee. We will return soon. If we lived in the area, it would our regular hang out for delicious food and a staff that shines in their skills as professionals. Bravo

Yelp
I see the potential and maybe we shouldn't have dined here until they worked out their kinks a couple months in. I wanted to love it since I'm a big fan of Cortó, but I found the dishes underwhelming. The roasted carrots were more on the raw crunchy side. There were little chopped up pieces of lobster in the couscous with the scallops entree that honestly didn't warrant the lobster be in the title of the dish. The dessert was very dry(maybe it was supposed to be?) and my espresso martini didn't have any coffee liqueur as advertised on the menu, it was just espresso and vodka. Very disappointing. I will say, Service was very attentive and very polite. The space looks great and the bar is gorgeous, but for how much the bill came up to, it's not worth it.

Yelp
Food is excellent and interesting. Service is perfected with knowledgeable servers. Ambiance is understated a bit industrial and minimalist. While everything is excellent it is on the pricy side but not ridiculously high for the quality.

Yelp
Absolutely my family's favorite restaurant in Jersey City! We've been here a few times now, and it is such a pleasant and positive vibe every single time. We're always counting the days to coming here after making our reservation! The host is lovely and our waiter always makes us feel so special and they are so welcoming to our daughter which is so nice! In short the service is impeccable and other restaurants should honestly take note :) And of course the food is impeccable too and on par to some of the best dining experience we've had. I love that they change the menu up every once in a while, and each time creatively crafted! And the cocktails are beyond delicious! 1000% highly recommended, this is absolutely the BEST restaurant in Jersey City!!

Yelp
The Roxy is a welcome addition to the JC dining scene. Service is friendly and professional and the food is excellent. We started with a sardine tartine, which felt like a little trip to Spain. For mains: Hubby had mushrooms cavatelli and I had snapper with Thai julienne veggies. Both delicious. Espresso martinis were also excellent. We love that wine is available by glass or bottles. (Also half glass!) There is no price for full bottle on the menu (my pet peeve) but we asked and the delicious rose was a fair $60 for the bottle. Room is sleek and sound level easy to converse in. On the whole, we enjoyed the evening and intend to go back. But you should stay away so I won't have trouble getting a reservation next time!

Yelp
Awesome food and service. Our waiter Roger was so friendly and knew the menu very well. He gave us great recommendations and none of them disappointed. Cocktails were also fantastic. Highly recommend the duck and octopus. We also loved the vegetables gratin. Sleek and clean vibe and not too loud and crowded like most new hip spots are in NYC. 10/10 can't wait to go back!

Caroline L.

Yelp
Excellent food, service, drinks, and ambiance. So glad to have an upscale place in this area. We found the food to be delicious and a good value for the price. We were interested when we heard that a Corto-adjacent restaurant was opening up, and it exceeded our expectations. Definitely intend on returning.

Daisy C.

Yelp
Truly the best food in jersey city. Staff is amazing. They walk you thru the menu and some of the most friendliest we had in JC. Great for date night. Great vibe and perfect drinks.

Damian S.

Yelp
Service and food was great. Not cheap. The drinks were the smallest pours I have ever seen in Jersey City. The martini was tiny. The wine was $25 a glass chosen by the bar tender. Couldn't believe how meager it was. Almost makes me want to not go back. Not sure if this is the routine. Gonna go back to NYC or downtown JC if this is what they will do in the future.

Edward ..

Yelp
Everything was amazing and exceeded any expectations. On a whim due to a sidewalk chalk advertisement we decided to give it a try. What an absolutely pleasant surprise. The food was amazing. The service was attentive and gracious. In a comfortable understated rather humble location. The Roxy easily would be at home in Manhattan or Philly but it's fun to see this type of place so much closer to home. We will definitely be going again. It's an ideal date night place.

Justin B.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Love the new rainbow trout! Went on a Friday night and the place was packed. Sat at one of the cocktail tables outside for a drink while I waited for bar seats. Such an awesome vibe. Neighborhood is so friendly and vibrant. My wife and I can't wait to be back!

Emily M.

Yelp
We dined at the Roxy last night and it was WONDERFUL! Service was impeccable, drinks were top notch and the food was delicous. Highly reccomend!

Yelp
Food was fantastic and cocktails were too. Roger gave great suggestions. I will be back

Yelp
I ate at Roxy last night with my son, a long time foodie. From start to finish it was a dining experience equal to the best of NYC. The space is gorgeous, the staff attentive and knowledgable, and the food excellent and often surprising. we're sure to go back
