Royal Exchange Review - Financial District - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This is the place that Tom Cruise was dreaming about in Cocktail. The space is huge, with a ton of bar seats, small tables up front, and larger, more private booths in the back. There’s a large selection of draft beers, cocktails, and wine, and a full menu if you decide you’ve got time for more than just a drink. The crowd is mostly made up of the suits-at-work contingency. It can get crowded quickly after work - so much so that finding a single spot at the bar gets tough - so make a reservation if you want to be sure you’ll get a seat. This place is so inviting that you may even work up the courage to do something that hasn’t been done since 1997, and actually talk to the stranger sitting next to you at the bar." - Will Kamensky

Located in the financial district of London and bordered by buildings housing financial institutions like the Bank of England and the Royal Bank of Scotland as well as the residence of the Lord Mayor, The Royal Exchange is an imposing landmark. If the façade of the building looks familiar, it's likely because (like many other buildings around the world) it was inspired by the design of the Pantheon in Rome. The Exchange gets its ‘Royal’ title after Queen Elizabeth I opened the original in 1571. an exchange building is generally utilized for telecommunications or foreign currency. However, as a commercial building, exchanges date back to at least the 13th century. The building is one of London's top luxury shopping locations, and visitors to the city should definitely add it to their list of places to visit. The stores at the Royal Exchange are hand-picked to elevate the elegance and class of the building. The beautifully designed courtyard also makes it difficult to resist spending a fair amount of time here.

The luxury shopping centre in the city offers a blend of experiences with some shops located inside undercover and others, including eateries, accessible from the surrounding streets. It's a delightful place to browse for gifts or indulge in an expensive treat for yourself. The atmosphere is both inviting and upscale, making it a perfect destination for a leisurely shopping experience.

A beautiful and historic building with a (now) covered courtyard, in the heart of Bank. High end boutiques and shops. The courtyard is entirely taken up by Fortnum and Mason which is the perfect setting for a festive dinner at Christmas (although nice any time of the year). Really lovely.

Beautiful place to go to if you are around, with great architecture and a Fortnum and Mason bar! (If you are a fan of Mary Poppins, you should pass by too ;)
