"Located in the hub of the art and design district, the Palomar is a modern, pet-friendly, eco-friendly, organic-oriented hotel that caters to active city visitors. The hotel organizes fun group exercise classes that include guided runs along Lake Michigan and ballet barre workouts on the hotel’s sundeck. Other novel perks are the in-room massages and yoga sessions. And, if you travel with your pets, you’ll be pleased with all the amenities that they’ll enjoy. Sable, one of the best bars around, is just down the stairs."

The Royal Sonesta Chicago River North

"How did it strike you on arrival?Energetic downtown hotel with a great River North location and a happy sense of place. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Fun rooms with bold color accents, and artwork above the beds that channels the Chicago World's Fair of 1893. Picture windows frame views of the modern city. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Definitely. The beds are comfortable. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that worth a mention?Loved the supplied yoga mat and wellness channel on the TV with yoga, pilates, and meditation programs to follow. You can call down to have a goldfish delivered to your room as a temporary pet. Residency gives you access to free loaner bikes ideal for exploring the city. You've got to go down to the lobby for a.m. coffee, but it's plentiful and free. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Crazy animal print robes are fun! Nice amenities from C.O. Bigelow. Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Good strength and included in the rate. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The top-floor pool is small, but especially welcoming in winter and ringed in nice views of the surrounding city. Sable Kitchen & Bar on the ground level is popular with locals as well as guests, and has one of the city's best cocktail programs. There's a free wine hour daily. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? This hotel touches all the bases, but sitting fireside with coffee in the living-room-esque lobby is a nice way to start each day. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Good value for the amenities offered with a nice array of freebies, from the daily wine hour to the complimentary bikes." - Elaine Glusac

Royal Sonesta Chicago River North (Chicago, Illinois) 9 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In a city as colossal as Chicago — wide boulevards, soaring architecture — it’s only natural that a boutique hotel should want to scale up. Fortunately this is something Sonesta does especially well, building towering, all-the-amenities hotels that retain the character and warmth of a boutique, and the Royal Sonesta Chicago River North is a textbook example. It’s got the beautiful sky-scraping pool, the spacious 24-hour fitness center and all the full-on business facilities expected of a modern high-rise hotel. But it’s also a friendly enough place that kids get special attention, pets are encouraged and Midwestern generosity abounds — it’s all proof that going big doesn’t have to mean growing cold." - Tablet Hotels

Amazing experience! The hotel is clean and beautiful. The room is spacious, comfortable and provided everything we needed. Traveling with our 9 month old was scary, but the hotel had all accommodations we needed for her, and all employees were so kind! The Laz employee’s were incredibly friendly and helpful. Spiro made our day everyday! He remembered small details that we had talked about, was extremely helpful and made our stay that much better! We especially loved how he always said hello and talked with the baby! We will definitely be coming back!

Hello Jose

We had a good experience. Room was elegant and the beds comfortable. Bathroom door, a slider, was very difficult to open and close. Overall, the room was clean. However, near the windows, the baseboard molding, had a thick layer of dust. Indicating the room was not completely cleaned. A plus for us was we could use the stairs. I am not an elevator person. We had a fifth floor room. Staff was very nice.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The facilities were clean and comfortable, the atmosphere was welcoming, and every staff member I encountered was professional and kind — but I have to give special recognition to Mr. Antwonne, the doorman.||Mr. Antwonne was truly awesome and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome every single day. His warm smile, friendly conversation, and genuine helpfulness made a huge difference in my stay. He gave great local tips, always opened the door with a cheerful greeting, and made me feel like a valued guest every time I came and went.||It’s rare to find someone who can brighten your day so consistently — Mr. Antwonne is a big reason I’d happily stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I dont pump out super high reviews unless i have an emotion experience, well i did and this isn't a 5star retreat, but the way we are treated, we couldn't tell. The staff here are amazing. The location is absolutely ideal for downtown. We are only 5 minutes walk from everything. The floors are super clean. Elevator clean. The dining eatery on site was delicious. Only complaint would be that the pool wasn't open during summer heat. That was a bummer but we had a Jacuzzi tub room so I mean who could complain.

Google
The rooms are clean, and they have a nice pool. Family friendly. Staff are nice and helpful. Security is good. If you have any concerns they will do what they can to accommodate. The restaurant just below is good but not worth the price, recommend going somewhere else near the hotel. Overall a great hotel.

I was there on my birthday, which was 07/17 last week on Thursday. The check in was smooth and easy. When we got our room, it was so little for an upgrade king size. What made it a bad experience was when it was time to get our vehicle, it took nearly 1 hour to get our car back and if you pay $78 for valet, I don’t think it should’ve taken that long. Once our vehicular was given to us, one of the ladies at the valet asked for my ticket and I told Her that I gave it back to the gentleman at the valet post and she came back and asked me what room I was in etc, I was already mad, I told her all that Info was already on my ticket for the valet and she started given me and my family attitude so my sister in law asked for her name and told her that she didn’t have to be like that towards us and once she gave us our key, she cussed us out and rolled her eyes. I’ve been there before and I liked it but after that interaction, I don’t think I’ll ever come back again.

Antwon at The Royal Sonesta Chicago River North was absolutely phenomenal. From my easy early check‑in to the friendly guidance on local hotspots, Antwon made the experience unforgettable. The hotel itself checked every box: spacious, impeccably clean rooms with plush robes and great views, an inviting lobby, and a heated indoor pool. The on-site restaurant CBR served delicious American fare and cocktails—perfect after a day exploring Michigan Avenue and the Riverwalk. Antwon’s warm hospitality, combined with the hotel’s stylish comfort and prime location, made for a truly exceptional stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in May and the experience was 10/10. The location was perfectly close to everything and there are Lyft scooter and electric bikes right next to the hotel. The room was clean and had amazing charm. This hotel SMELLS AMAZING. I cannot explain it you just have to go to experience it. And the staff was so nice and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again

Yelp
This hotel is a breath of fresh air! After staying at the very disappointing Palmer House, I moved to the Royal Sonesta for 4 nights. My group had a convention here and it was lovely. All of our interaction with staff was pleasant and everyone was very capable. I requested an upgrade to a suite prior to my arrival and it was granted. It doubled the price of the room, but it was completely worth it to have space to work and sleep separately, including two different HVAC units for the spaces. I was able to keep the bedroom cold for sleeping in the common area and office a little warmer. When I had guests to the room, I'm sure they appreciated that. Many people at my conference noticed and remarked how nice it was to have such a well trained staff at the hotel. This is an excellent reflection on management. At no time did anyone hear people tapping on doors with a keycard down the hallway shouting "House Keeping." The hallways were generally quiet and the staff realized that the people behind the doors might actually be sleeping at various points of the day and night. The Royal Sonesta is a great place for a good, quiet room and sleep. You will hear the noises from the city in your room, but they are somewhat muted and not possible to do away with. Our group would absolutely return here for another convention as we were well cared for. We used all of the 5th and 6th floors. The food and beverage minimums were very high, but we'll do a better job of negotiating next time. We all ate very well and the food was fantastic as was the service. The staff was completely excellent without being pretentious, it was so refreshing!

Yelp
We stayed here during Christmas. It was just okay for a 4-star hotel. The room didn't have a smart-tv that you could cast to. The jacuzzi tub was peeling and one of the jets on it didn't work. The terrace was locked though we tried to go out during the open hours posted. It was just an "okay" stay for it to be a 4-star hotel.

Yelp
The staff were so warm and welcoming. Upon check-in we were notified about the $30/day destination fee which includes 2 free bottles of water, $10 credit/day to the restaurant attached and uses of the amenities including the pool and gym. We had the junior suite and the room was huge! We thought the beds and pillows were comfortable. No microwave or freezer in the room. However, they do have a safe and ironing board. The patio is on the 17th floor and we enjoyed the views. We did not use the gym. The restaurant for breakfast was nice. Pros: location, friendly staff, black out curtains, accommodated a late check out, lots of natural light, comfortable bed/pillow Cons: the spa bathtub stopped draining during our stay which they promptly fixed, but then we tried using it again the morning of and it started making a weird noise. There's a sign that the spa tub's self cleaning feature will go off when detecting moisture but why was it always at like 6-7am?! Also, the air conditioning seemed to be making a lot of noise that made it difficult to fall asleep

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is really good! The rooms were actually CLEAN! Yay!! Awesome windows in the room. Great bathroom. Awesome water pressure. Super friendly staff and valet service. We felt very safe here and we will stay here again! The parking is $75/day for a longer stay which stinks but they treated our vehicle very well and we had no issues. Parking would have been impossible otherwise and the hotel has to abide by the city of Chicago's rules when it comes to hotel parking. We would have loved if the coffee bar was a bit better especially for the price of the stay. And maybe better quality coffee? But it was nice to have available. We ended up getting Starbucks each morning. They do put water in your room too and we didn't have room service during our stay since we were out and about most of the time anyways but I aspect they would have restocked it if we would have. We slept well! Love the city!

Yelp
I visited Chicago on a business trip and found them on Yelp before booking a room. Great location in downtown Chicago, walking distance to great food, bars and stores. Beautiful lobby area and restaurant. Nice decor and the staff are so accommodating. Sarah was my concierge and she was such a delight. She really made my stay so much better by recommending great food and things to do in the area. Every time she saw me come and go she was super friendly and welcoming. She made me feel at ease and took care of any needs I had during my stay. She's an absolute pro at hospitality. The doorman was super great too. Very friendly. My room was very clean and spacious. Perfect for a business trip as it had a nice desk to sit at and a really comfy bed. Every day my towels and bedding were refreshed and I came back to an immaculate accommodation. Super cozy and super convenient location so I was able to take advantage of my business trip and enjoy nights on the town after work. Great water pressure in the shower here, surprisingly! I would definitely come back and stay here the next time I visit Chicago.

Yelp
Clean, spacious rooms. Centrally located. Meeting space in the penthouse has a great view and nice area for buffet. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
First off all I want to start by saying thank you to the entire staff at this location. Everyone was so helpful but let me tell you about Liss .We had a traumatic experience at 4 am in the morning and Liss made sure our experience was still a good one. From her problem solving skills to how she was able to connect to us as human beings. We were very impressed. Liss went out of her way to make sure that we were taking care of, and also informed everyone that was on staff about our situation so that they could help us in the morning when she wasn't around. Definitely recommend staying here. Ask for Liss!

Yelp
A bait and switch experience. Amazing lobby. Art deco decor creates such a vibe and gets you excited to get to your room. But the room does not have the same attention to detail. You can feel and hear the metal springs in the bed.... And everything is just a little dingy.... Stained wall paper, nicked frames and dressers..... and to really make you feel homey... chicken wire on the windows

Yelp
I'm mentally already planning my trip back to this hotel. The staff was amazing and so accommodating we were even able to check in early. Major shout out to Katelyn , Sarah and Antwon! Our room was clean and had a great view from the 16th floor. Although the shower handle kept falling off maintenace quickly came by twice to fix the issue. This hotel is great walking distance from everything and I like that the entry doors are locked at night at a certain time. I feel like Chicago gets such a bad rep but River North and some of the surrounding areas were beautiful. While staying there we used the fitness room, roof top and grabbed a drink from the bar. No complaints at all. We look forward to visiting again! Side note refrigerator and microwaves are by request so make sure you ask as soon as you check in.

Yelp
We stayed here in September from a Friday to a Tuesday. The entire time, only one elevator was working. It was a minimum ten minute wait every single time we wanted to go up to our room or go down to the lobby. That said, that was the only negative part of our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room had thick blackout curtains that kept our room dark and cozy. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of counter space and the shower had great water pressure. Everything g about our stay was enjoyable except the elevator. Please fix it!

Yelp
I don't write alot of reviews for hotels but Royal Sonesta River North stood out among recent hotels. We checked in very late on a Thursday. the doorman confirmed our reservation first then let us in. This next level of security was noted and appreciated by us. it's a safe neighborhood but nice to see they run a tight ship here. Check in was smooth and kind, especially considering how late it was. one fella even came around and got the elevator for us as our hands were full. The room was very nice as well. It could have used a fridge and microwave but my experience is the nicer the room, the less there are of the base level amenities. the next day I went down for the complimentary coffee. I noted the are was beautiful, with a long gas fireplace along one wall. The coffee was above average and the lemon water they had was a nice touch as well. Overall it was the best hotel I have stayed in this year, well done.

Yelp
I had called ahead of my stay & talked to Crystal about helping me make our stay memorable as it was my sister's first visit to Chicago. She was wonderful & when we arrived we found we had a beautiful room on the 29th floor with the very best view. The location & then the wonderful aroma of the lobby are great. Check-in was easy with Melanie at the front desk & housekeeping services excellent (thank you Hernandez). Everything was perfect - with the small exception of the bathroom barn door.

Yelp
I am not sure if I can recommend. I really wanted this to be my go-to in Chicago when I stay there but things did not go smoothly. My flight was delayed and my Mother was to arrive before me. I called the Sonesta and added her to the reservation so she could check in before me. I was told no problem and received an updated reservation. She arrived before me and she could not check in. I start getting calls from her while I was traveling and had to pull over making me even later. I had to call someone else not at that location to clear up. So confusing and silly. She was eventually allowed in the room. We were charged for valet parking even though we had no car and did not valet. I was told it would be removed. I have not seen this credit to my card yet. I followed up with no reply. Rooms are adequate and location is good. But something is wrong internally and it becomes the guest's problem. I would like my $75 for the valet that I never used back.

Carter T.

Yelp
Great customer service. Hotel was clean. Valet parking. No downsides. must book here!

Simon C.

Yelp
Come here for a meeting. This hotel charged expensive Destination Fee in your bill, be careful.

Jack B.

Yelp
An amazing hotel with outstanding views, great hospitality, and upscale amenities! Very good location, and I couldn't have asked for a better room. Thank you so much to Liz at the front desk for all of your help and support! You made my entire trip!!
google avatar

Andreas K.

Yelp
Just about okay, but there was very little extra that would be memorable, except a welcome bottle of wine, offered without glasses or a cork remover. The access to the hotel by car was cumbersome, the car had to be self-parked in an extremely packed and narrow-spaced garage building one block North. The room was not particularly stylish, the accessories outdated or absent (e.g. coffee maker). No room service was provided due to COVID, but masks were not reinforced. There was a nice gym and a reasonably sized pool on the same floor (17th), but there were no towels.
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
I stayed here about five years ago for the first time, and it had different ownership. The hotel location is perfect, and that is what makes it great now. They have two elevators, and one was broken the entire time we were here, there was always a line to get to your room. The bar is good, the old servers are gone, but they have a really good selection of dark liquors.. It used to be a popular place, but not so much anymore. The staff is friendly, and they really try hard, but they missed on certain things as well....I will think twice about returning to this establishment....
google avatar

Sally B.

Yelp
Meh. Nice lobby. Almost got the room I booked according to the photo. Didn't fully appreciate the pealing headboard, stains on the rug and couch, grubby phone, pockmarked tub, soiled desk chair (which I covered with a towel cuz I had to sit on it). Ok location...Yes. Would I stay here again. No.
google avatar

Cristin G.

Yelp
Tucked away across the street from Rock Bottom restaurant is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. Royal Sonesta has its own sense of style (grace, comfort, and Jazz) and beat my expectations. Checkin went smoothly and we were put in a room with gorgeous views! The pool, while small, wasn't ever busy and was perfect for my daughter to swim in.
google avatar

Roger T.

Yelp
This hotel is a hidden gem in this area. The room was clean and didn't have anything weird like stains or other signs of use. It wasn't a huge room, but for exactly what I needed. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The one issue is the proximity to the fire station. Do they really need to use the siren in the middle of the night? That's not the hotel's fault, though, and I didn't really notice it the second night. As for quiet, I didn't hear a single other guest from my room the whole time I was there. No noises through the walls, no one walking down the hallway, no bathroom sounds from other rooms. I wonder if there was anyone else on my floor. I'd definitely stay here again.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Double charged my credit card. Desk person 'could not see the double charge' so checked with a manager. They finally agreed to refund the second charge, when I asked for a receipt, the reply was, "How am I supposed to do that?" Um, email? No apology from manager or desk. Also-no coffee in the room. Lots of better places in Chicago, pass this one by.

Beth B.

Yelp
I used to live in Chicago and wanted to visit downtown for a long weekend. I always thought this was a nice hotel and it had a good rate so I booked it for three nights in December. The stay was fine, however at the end of my trip they charged me $30/day destination fee. They indicated that it was communicated to me when I made the reservation. The rate does not include the destination fee, however you have to read down the reservation and in the fine print it indicates this fee. Just know that if you stay here, the rate does not include the destination fee and is $30 per day. Really felt like I was scammed on this. What a terrible way to treat customers. Be honest up front.

James P.

Yelp
Nice hotel in a great location. Friendly staff. A couple of complaints: 1) No room service - I got checked in just in time to catch tipoff of an NBA playoff I wanted to watch. On the way in, I figured, "No problem, I'll just order room service." Nope. You can't even call the hotel restaurant to order for pick up. I was too tired from my trip to try and navigate online food delivery in a strange town. I just wanted a quick bite from the hotel restaurant! 2) In room refrigerators are by request. I did not know this. When I checked in, I was told they did not have any available and that I should try asking the next morning. I did and they said they didn't have any at the moment but I would have one by the end of the day. This isn't just a minor inconvenience for me. I have special diet needs and often stock up after a trip to a local grocery store.

Kemal B.

Yelp
I booked a stay for almost 2 months in advance and had to cancel within 24 hours of booking. Hotel was unfriendly, didn't want to refund because the room I booked was unrefundable. Most hotels offer refunds if mistakes were made within 48 hours.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here, for one night to celebrate his birthday. Location: It was easy to find. I saw the signage as soon as I turned the corner. Great location. Directly across the street from Rock Bottom restaurant and The Hilton Garden. Parking: You can valet for $75 per night with in/out privileges. Or self park in the North Bridge Self Park lot. Which I reserved through spothero for $16. Check-in: Begins at 3pm with a noon check out. There were 2 clerks at the desk when we arrived at 7pm. Only issue I had was not being told of the security deposit when I booked the room. Requires $100 refundable after check out, that you cannot place on a separate card. There's also a $20 "urban experience" nightly fee. Building: Both elevators are currently in working order. Lobby clean, nice seating areas, both inside and out. We did not experience any noisy guest on our Saturday to Sunday stay. Room: I booked the Junior Spa Suite and upon check-in was upgraded to the Luxury Spa suit. The room was lovely, very spacious, comfortable bedding. Decor, especially the carpet, can use updating, but over all a great stay. If each visit keeps this level, then I've found a great staycation place for us. Downside. The pool states open 6am-10pm along with the roof top Terrance, but both were closed during the time we were there. A shame because the view looked to be amazing. Pool did look a tad murky though, so that may have been an issue.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here the weekend after Valentine's Day. It's a very nice hotel. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. The rooms are small but very nice and clean. The indoor pool was nice but it's advertised as heated. It definitely was not lol. Other than that though we had a great stay.

Tyler S.

Yelp
Idk how this hotel has any stars. I got a spa suite for my gf and they over booked our room so people were trying to break in all night and the staff had the balls to break in a couple times after the 4th and 5th try and didn't even knock like wtf? Then they gave us a note saying sorry and we have $50 for breakfast and to charge it to the room. Ate breakfast not only did they not honor what they said they would do but they tried to charge me the full breakfast amount +tip +they tried to add a hidden $20 service charge fee that they never told us about. Then when I called about the charge on my card I had to argue with the morons that run this place. Thank god we only had to stay here one night. All I can say is if you stay here with loved ones maybe bring your gun cause the staff will walk into your room without knocking whenever they want and/or will sent other guest to your room. Not a safe place! Worst hotel I've ever stayed at also no microwave or fridge.

Robert B.

Yelp
Michael, the Bartender at Hoyt's was an absolute legend. Courteous, prompt, and extremely personable. He put the cherry on top of an amazing stay at a great Chicago Hotel!
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
Toilet was leaking from the base all over the floor. No one came and made up our room or brought us fresh towels. Even though we were on the top floor, it was still very loud from the street with sirens going by all night long and then early in the morning, everyone comes to the gym also on the top floor and start dropping heavy weights it's so loud. The blow dryer kept falling apart, the pillows are lumpy and cheap with no support. The front desk lady was like a robot no warmth and every time I saw her even only 10 minutes apart she'd ask the same question as if programes, "how was your day?" Even after each time I honestly answered "stressful". The only reason why it gets one star is because of the nice gentleman named Stan who helped check us out. Very nice and knows what going above and beyond is about. Great guy! I hope the company recognizes him!

Tatiana J.

Yelp
Their bar and lounge is still closed due to "COVID" Their housekeepers only clean your room every THREE days due to "union agreements" You will not get your restaurant credit. You will not get what you pay for. But they will give you a bag of chips and tap water in the lobby. This hotel is lipstick on a pig. Don't stay here. Go to any of the other amazing hotels in Chicago.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
First trip to Chicago (also first travel since Covid) and the Royal Sonesta Chicago River North made it so much more memorable! We spent 4 nights and everything was perfect throughout. All the staffs were professional and friendly (thank you Mark at the reception for all the informative and valuable tips). Location was second to none with its location set 3 blocks from the Magnificent Mile (shopping street), 1-minute walk from the Grand metro station (super convenient from the O'Hare Airport) and 1 mile from the Navy Pier, just to name a few of the highlights. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable and of course the indoor pool, sundeck/rooftop terrace and the gym made up for more than the icing on the cake. I can't recommend this hotel enough and will definitely come back should I visit Chicago again!

Yelp
Out of all hotel that I have stayed at in my lifetimes. I have had issues with hotel rooms many times. But, I had Joshua help me out with my room that I wanted, I checked in super late and he was able to help me get my room. I also had a faulty key and he was still able to help me fix that asap. If you need anyone josh is the go to guy.

Yelp
Ive been to many hotels and this is the best so far. Stayed here for a week. It's small compared to a lot of hotels in downtown Chicago but that made the experience better. It wasnt crowded and it was always clean. Indoor pool, gym and the rooftop lounge is never crowded. Staff are super polite and very helpful. What we loved about it is safety. After 11:00 pm, the hotel's entrance is closed and the concierge in front would open the door for you if you are staying at the hotel. There's free iced cold water and lemon and cucumber or oranged infused iced cold water by the lobby so whenever we leave the hotel and come back that's something that's refreshing especially in this heat. Staff would always welcome us back whenever we come back from our outings. On check out day, we had a delayed flight and we asked if they could push our check out time a little bit and they gave us 1:00 pm instead of 12:00pm, the receptionist then said, we could also push it back a little bit further if you're flight's delayed. Another staff then said they could take our luggages and store them for us if our flight's super late and we can hang out at the lobby or do our own thing and they'll gladly help us find transport and load our stuff. Overall, I would come back to this hotel next time we're in Chicago. Walking distance to most attractions, great staff and we always felt safe and secured even when staying downtown.

Yelp
Stayed in a luxury spa suite for a weekend getaway. Here are the pros: bed was comfortable, bathtub was amazing, front desk was very responsive (via text), nice heated area outside if you need to smoke, great views if you get a suite. Cons: difficult to find entrance (no large sign), took 15 minutes to get hot water running in shower/tub, TVs work but are broken (pixels blown out), limited TV channels, mini fridge was not cleaned, phones did not work, only given one roll of toilet paper for multiple night stay. While I understand services are limited due to pandemic, there are some basic things going wrong with this hotel and it should have been reflected in the rate. I shared my feedback with the front desk staff and was not offered any adjustment in the rate nor was I contacted by management. While the bathtub and views were fantastic, basic amenities were lacking. Likely will not stay here again unless amenities were improved or price was adjusted to reflect current state of hotel.

Yelp
This hotel was terrible. Only 1 elevator worked all weekend. The WiFi was non existent, if it did connect it was terribly slow. If you have a rental car you have park across the street and good luck trying to get a parking pass, we were told one day it's $35 then the next day it's $55 and when we tried to get one for 3 days which would of been $85 they didn't have any so they sold us a 2 day and a 1 day. Nobody seems to know what they are doing there I would not recommend coming here, there are so many other nicer hotels close by. Stay away

Yelp
My parents are staying here and the lobby is such a weird unfriendly vibe. The security stands around staring at you and feels very standoffish. I was merely waiting on the couch and felt very unwelcome and received various dirty looks from the security guard . She asked me to remove my feet from the table (which I totally get) but did not utter a please or thank you and proceeded to continue dirty looks while I waited for my Uber. She then went around the corner and took a FaceTime call in the lobby? Super unprofessional and rude

Yelp
This hotel is clean and Nice definitely deserves a 5 star rating. The staff is very welcoming helpful and considerate,. I had to find a room last minute because i was chosen for couch in the social AirBNB which i refused. Went on line and this one stuck out for me so i rented at a great price and was even given a whole bottle of wine I assume because my keys didn't work the first time. Awesome regroup tool . The room and fixtures were excellent. I enjoyed everything in the hotel especially my photo shoot after i checked out waiting in the lobby. I will definitely choose this spot again if the price is right cause it's a sweet stay!!!

Yelp
Overall, I'm just not impressed. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this came highly recommended from a coworker. I'll start with the good. Customer service at the desk was fantastic. I ask a lot of questions when I'm visiting out of state. I asked about restaurants, food delivery, and things around to do. Adam was very hospitable and knowledgeable. I like the vintage look of the hotel is personal preference. The hotel is clean upon arrival. I like the artwork but everything else feels old more than vintage. My room was equipped with a fridge, hair dryer, and many outlets. The hotel has a pool, roof top tanning, and a workout room. The cafe was up for contract and thus unopened. I arrived back to my room on my second day of five and no one had cleaned my room or restocked anything. That could be a result of COVID measures. After inquiring, Miguel informed me that my length of stay qualified me to be able to request housekeeping services. The cons: These rooms are not equipped with a microwave or coffee maker. You can request a coffee maker, and a Keuriq will be delivered to your room free of charge. They are older and some don't work. They will also bring two coffee pods, creamer, and sweetners. All of my sugar packets were old and crystallized into one solid piece. I travel with my coffee supplies, so this wasn't a huge deal. There is a seating area and a desk for working. Everything in the hotel seems old, although it seems they were going for vintage. You can see the phone and charging station in my photos. It feels very 90s. The lights all have a yellow cast which make it impossible to know how your makeup will look. The hotel is not sound buffered from outside. I was on the tenth floor and could hear cars all day and sirens all night. Do not walk this neighborhood alone, especially at night. Period. I was able to get food delivered by door dash pretty quickly. I didn't sleep well the whole five nights I stayed. The ac unit just roars and every time someone flushed the toilet I could hear the water pushing through the pipes behind my bed. I never heard my "neighbors" but I could hear doors closing. I really disliked that the door only had a single lock and not a safety latch option for partially opening the door. A peep hole isn't sufficient to see if housekeeping is the one at the door. My bathroom was clean but I don't think they sweep, I found a contact lens in the middle of the floor. It was very obvious. There was also zero trash bags or wash clothes in my room. Overall, I would just pass on this one. I don't think the pandemic can be blamed for the things that are wrong with this location.

Yelp
The location of the hotel was very nice and the room were comparable to most other nice hotels in Chicago. This hotel is the heart of downtown and close to everything, but the amenities are lacking compared to other fine hotels in the area. But again, it is close and convenient to most everything

Yelp
The front desk employees were so kind. Especially Tani, she was absolutely lovely. The service itself is great. The rooms are comfortable. The elevators are incredibly fast and everyone one is just so kind and helpful.

Yelp
For the price I expected more. Not impress at all. Staff was not friendly, rooms very small, you could hear the neighbors arguing. Felt like I was staying in the bad part of Chicago. Will definitely not stay there again or any other Royal Sonesta Hotel. Wish I could get my money back.

Yelp
The place is beautiful! My fiancé and I went for his birthday. I never write reviews but I am making it a point to write one for this place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by welcoming smiles and greetings. The woman at the front desk was so wonderful and even upgraded our room. She was so kind and pleasant. She made sure we felt welcome and I hate that I don't remember her name. The room was big, clean, and luxurious. Pretty quiet rooms but it is in close proximity of our the places we wanted to try. We are from Chicago so this was a staycation for us however it was the first time we really enjoyed a hotel from beginning to end.

Yelp
Lizzie was an absolute pleasure to work with. we booked our stay (4 nights) on american express app and it seemed as if there we some sort of issue, we waited about 10 minutes for the issue to be resolved but lizzie was absolutely great at offering us water, ice cream, anything we needed while we waited. we were eligible for an upgrade with my american express platinum card and she was able to give it to us. this is my absolute go-to hotel in Chicago from now on. price was also fair, they had a promotion while we stayed as well. Thanks!
