The Rug - Maida Hill - Review - Maida Hill - London - The Infatuation

"The Rug is a chic Maida Hill cafe for people who want all the benefits of a meditation routine, without having to fire up an app. At marble-effect tabletops, laptop users tap away, barely raising their voices above the piano soundtrack, half-whispering ‘thank you’ as Kyoto matcha lattes are delivered on stone coasters. We like the shared table best because it makes us feel like we own a second home in St. Moritz—all rattan-backed chairs and shaggy sheepskin throws. The food is tasty and falls under the category of classic breakfast food—scrambled eggs and avocado on sourdough, smoked salmon, pastries—although there are a few East Asian influences on the menu, like a congee-inspired dish topped with kimchi and a fried egg. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Eggs On Toast More folded eggs than scrambled (which we love, hello, glossy layers), this is a solid breakfast dish. The sourdough could be a bit more toasted, but it’s well-seasoned, with lots of pepper bringing some nice heat. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna" - Sinéad Cranna

The aesthetics of this place is beautiful. I have been to a LOT of independent coffee shops, and I would proudly say how well-decorated the interior design is! The bathroom (for customers only, by the way) is also really maintained in my opinion. The food prices are, of course, not cheap. I had an espresso for £3! That broke my heart… but my heart was elsewhere, I genuinely couldn’t take enough of the view. Sorry, but the place is seriously so pretty to me. Also, the service was really nice. :)

Gorgeous renovation of a beautiful old building made into a cool Cafe on Harrow Rd, food, service decor and ambience excellent and it was not over priced. We had brunch on a Sunday morning and would definitely visit again, oh and it’s open from 8.00am. Support local businesses.

Coffee spot that feels like you are relaxing in your best friends’ stylish bachelors pad. I loved the fact that they were open early on a Sunday and there were other laptoppers present. The place is calm, staff are cool collected and coffee is spot on.

Really cute and quiet place. Food was good but a bit too slow, took us over 20 minutes from ordering to drinking and eating. Decor is very nice

A new lovely decorated neighbourhood cafe which serves impeccable breakfast and excellent coffee. The aesthetics of this cafe brings such a peaceful atmosphere for you to come and chill and enjoy the amazing food while you relax. The staff are so friendly and welcome you with such warmness. I have since become a regular and my favourite thing to order is definitely the toasted croissant (croast) with beef tomatoes! Highly recommended.

I have been a regular at The Rug for almost a year now, and the standard and quality of service have remained consistent since my first visit: a pleasant atmosphere; good food; high standards of cleanliness maintained throughout; and warm staff members who are welcoming each and every time I visit. Both its soft din, which makes it ideal for studying, working, or socialising, and its range of pastries, dishes, and interesting rotation of coffee beans make The Rug a place I frequently recommend to people looking for a regular third space.
