The Rug - Maida Hill - Review - Maida Hill - London - The Infatuation
"The Rug is a chic Maida Hill cafe for people who want all the benefits of a meditation routine, without having to fire up an app. At marble-effect tabletops, laptop users tap away, barely raising their voices above the piano soundtrack, half-whispering ‘thank you’ as Kyoto matcha lattes are delivered on stone coasters. We like the shared table best because it makes us feel like we own a second home in St. Moritz—all rattan-backed chairs and shaggy sheepskin throws. The food is tasty and falls under the category of classic breakfast food—scrambled eggs and avocado on sourdough, smoked salmon, pastries—although there are a few East Asian influences on the menu, like a congee-inspired dish topped with kimchi and a fried egg.

Eggs On Toast
More folded eggs than scrambled (which we love, hello, glossy layers), this is a solid breakfast dish. The sourdough could be a bit more toasted, but it’s well-seasoned, with lots of pepper bringing some nice heat.
