The Rum Bar BK

So I remember when this bar first opened on the electric Franklin ave In Bk. I thought I love rum so this will be amazing. I was waiting for my wife to arrive and sat down near the entrance it wasn't crowded it was New and no one seemed to notice. When my wife walked in still no one seemed interested. So we finally spoke to the bartender and got drinks . The second time we walked in and it was crowded but the crowd was a little more rough around the edges than I'm comfortable with but we did have a drink and never returned. I was rooting for this bar because one I love rum and two a new business in the neighborhood is a good thing. Unfortunately I noticed a altercation outside of this establishment and believe some staff may have been involved . I have also noticed less patronage there. Customer service is key to any business I'm holding out hope for this business 🙏

Absolutely amazing place ! We meant to quickly a stop there for one cocktail but the atmosphere, the staff (K!) and the quality of the drinks were so amazing that we ended up expending hours and hours in there!! The drinks are FANTASTIC, and the the vibe going on with the regulars is just so warm and welcoming … absolutely loved this place ! We were very glad we cancelled all our plans to just enjoy being in this place … absolutely AMAZING!!

I absolutely LOVE the vibe here! The staff are really friendly. The music is always on point. The food is exceedingly delicious because I never experienced bar food to be so good 😊. I actually would love to have the food available at my home daily. The various options of rum is ridiculously wide the Painkiller cocktail has me in a chokehold. I’ve found my forever bar home!

Had a refreshing Ginger beverage that was delicious. First time in and highly recommended. The spot is bright and colorful, the bartender appeared cool, the music was a vibe from ol school to new school. The menu had multiple options of tropical beverages. I will return the spot was very intimate and personal.

The "Rum Rediscovered" Event was held here recently & it was hosted by Privateer Rum's VP of Brand & Trade Development Shannon Mustipher. During this "tasting" she provided educational information around Rum. We tried several dark rum selections & a light rum while learning about its history. The role that Rum has had in cocktail creation as well as rum as rum development & production were discussed..it ws cool to learn about Rum and it's deep/ rich history. Once the event ended, Owner Garnett delared that the bar is now open for cocktail purchases. The DJ played a medley of Socca and Reggae. Rum Bar BK has a quaint indoor seating area as well as cozy backyard outdoor patio area. Garnett mentioned that all of the beautiful artwork in the place is from Cuba. The Bartender made good cocktails & the Bar had overall good vibes. Rum Bar BK has DJ's play during TGIF - ecery Friday from 7pm - late & on Vinyl Mondays @7pm.

I must say I went last weekend and my drinks were really good. I went again today and was thoroughly disappointed. The bartender is putting 20 percent on every drink which is tacky. I tip well so do your job you’re getting paid for and stop choosing what I will tip you. It’s gratuity NOT a service charge and it must be well posted at the establishment by NYS legal rules. He automatically puts what he wants. It’s a rum bar. They didn’t have the painkiller, the transfer, the remedy, no mint for mojito. If you have absolutely none of the rum drinks on YOUR menu in a RUM Bar, maybe you should let the public know that. I came from far. I don’t live in the neighborhood. This whole visit was a hot mess and a miss. Unprofessional, nothing in stock and a huge disappointment. Consistency is important.

I’m a fan of fruity drinks and The Rum Bar delivered! Great service and the drinks were not only tasty, but also they were beautiful. I ordered the Piton Punch and the El Diablo. Next time, I’m gonna try the food. Since I visited on a Monday around 3pm, there were tons of empty seats and open space. Everyone from the staff to other people were relaxed so overall there was good energy. It was also happy hour during that time so I got some $$ of the drinks. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.

This is a cute drive in crown heights. Would’ve been a five star, just wasn’t impressed with the bites they had. Unfortunately, there was such bad weather and I couldn’t explore the backyard area. My drink was DELICIOUS! Not too strong, with just enough kick. I felt transported to an ambiguous island bar. Great for a date night, or out with friends. I’ll definitely be back.

Once the event ended, Owner Garnett declared The Rum Bar BK open for people to purchase cocktails. The DJ played a medley of Socca & Reggae Music as people were socializing & dancing. Rum Bar BK has a quaint indoor seating are as well as a cozy outdoor backyard / patio area. There is gorgeous artwork & Garnett told me that she got it all from Cuba. The Bartender made good cocktails & Rum Bar has overall good vibes. Rum Bar has DJ's play music during TGIF - every Friday 7pm - Late, & during Vinyl Mondays @7pm. Mon. - Thurs. - 4pm - 2am Fri. Sat. & Sun. - 2pm - 2am @therumbarbk

This is the perfect spot to go late at night when you dont feel like going home. Drinks 4/5: Ive had many drinks from this place and while some bartenders are better than others, the drinks remain pretty solid and most importantly strong Food: 4/5 I had the chicken Tacos and maybe it was just the drinks, but they were pretty tasty and flavorful, the fries were just ok but it def got the job done. Service: 3/5 but honestly depends what night you go, most of the bartenders are nice and will Experiment with drinks for you but most recently when I went it took a long time to get service even thought it wasnt very crowded at that point. Ambiance :3/5 in winter 5/5 in summer. The inside area is very tight and narrow so it makes ordering hard but during the summer when the backyard area is open this place can be super cute and such a vibe. Either way the music is always on point and def more for my afro beats, reggae and soca lovers. Overall a great place to catch a drink and vibe out especially for happy hour

First two experiences were 5 stars by far. I cannot stress how fun and inviting my bartender was on both occasions. She's the best. Last visit, which was last night, was terrible. The bartender conned me on my happy hour drinks. 2 rum shots and a beer should have come to $11 before tax. He charged me $27. I planned to stay for a few rounds and unwind, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I brought it to his attention and he gave a lame excuse that made no sense. Instead of arguing, I paid and left. The place is an absolute vibe, and I'll return, but I'm not a fan of trickery or not honoring the prices presented on the menu. If this happens again, they've lost a customer.

Fun and friendly bartenders. The drinks were somewhat pricey but packed with flavor. Presentation was A1 as well. I only knocked off one star because the kitchen wasn't open still at 6pm.

My friend told me about this Rum Bar. It was really nice mellow beats the bartenders were super nice Justina and Ziggy they were super nice. The daiquiris were strong, friendly, upbeat, good music I definitely come back here again.

Having opened just a couple of weeks ago, Rum Bar is the latest addition to the bar/dine scene on Franklin Avenue. We stopped by for a quick cocktail a recent sunny afternoon, and the first impression was: WOW!!! This place is awesome! Really cool, laidback vibe that exudes effortless sophistication. I also liked the vibrant colors of the bar, definitely different and unique, and the beautiful backyard. What differentiates Rum Bar from other great bars in Crown Heights is its rum-centered cocktail menu. The cocktails, priced at ~$15-18, are as tasty as they look fantastic. Both the El Diablo and the Piton Punch were excellent cocktails, and we would happily tried a couple more cocktails if we weren't in a bit of a rush. I definitely look forward to coming back soon for more cocktails and also to try a few of their dishes, which look really tasty[1]. The Rum Bar is a cool vibe with indoor bar seating and outdoor table seating. It gets crowded at the bar, but the bartender does his best. My friend and I ate at the bar, and the food was juicy and fresh (jerk chicken meal plus chicken fingers). Cool spot to hang out and listen to music while enjoying a limited food menu.

Wonderful old school lounge vibe. The drinks are excellent. The food is very simple, but the hotdogs are the best I've ever tasted! I've been twice with friends and we've had good service both times. We loved the live jazz. I'll definitely go again.

I went during what I believe to be an inaugural rum tasting. I had a great time. It was very informative and interactive. We answered questions and went around describing the notes we tasted each time. They handed out fritters which were bomb af. I wasn't the biggest fan of the painkiller I ordered. It's not easy finding painkillers so when I come across them I order them immediately. It was a different spin on it but my favorite element is the creaminess from the coconut cream mixed with the tang from the pineapple. Definitely coming back though since they have themed nights.

Nice small spot, great for a date night if you want a smaller more intimate place compared to its sister location, Roger's Garden. The mixologists used fresh ingredients and definitely cared a lot about presentation and taste. Pictured here is the Between the Sheets cocktail, it was fruity, tangy, perfectly sweet and had a nice depth of flavor with the added garnishes.

We were honestly super excited to try rum bar just finding out that Chef Paul had partnered with them. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. I must say the decor is top tier and you feel like you're in a Caribbean island with elevated vibes. The issue we had was with the service. Firstly at the bar . The bartender was for lack of a better word .... Rude .... She appeared to not want to be there...annoyed that you were placing an order but for someone who works in the service industry her facial expressions and attitude were not it. It took us 35 mins to get drinks. They were delicious but her attitude alone turned us off. To order food we had to bend down into a tiny window - yes very nostalgic of being the Caribbean but can we move the window to face height so we're all not bending in our 30s . We ordered and were told 15-20 mins for our dishes of which we ordered the codfish fritters, coconut shrimp , spicy shrimp and the jerk chicken wontons. The food took 60 mins - when we checked what was going on they told they had run out of plates and they were washing them downstairs. In terms of the food the codfish fritters and coconut shrimp were amazing . The spicy shrimp was so spicy my friends eyes were watering and he started sneezing. The jerk chicken wontons are nothing to sing home about and quite frankly lack flavor. The overall vibe seemed like there is a lack of management at the business so the employees do as they please - also it seemed like some friends of theirs had come by to the point where they were taking orders from customers and mid way walking away to hail up a friend. At one point I asked my friend if they were all high - such slow service and the rude/ nonchalant bartender is why they're getting 3 stars today .

Just walked in for a nice drink and the best part is I live not far from here. The ambiance is really nice and colorful with dim lights. Nice music and nice bartender. Will upload my drinks when I get them, but so far I'm loving this place.

One of the better things I have eaten/ drank in a while. Nice bartender who knows his stuff- well balanced, not too sweet. Beautiful and the right amount of alcohol. Asked for his recommendation and got a twist on a mojito with hibiscus - best mojito I have had in years. Savanna Grass... different but good! Great vibes. Pork tostones- chef's kiss. Texture- spice- acidic- fat- nailed it all!! 100% would do again.

Similar to another reviewer, I really want to love this place but the service here is so slow to the point where it's off putting. In terms of drinks, I ordered the crop over which was really delicious. I enjoyed the music which was reggae and soca. This place has a lot of potential. The reason this place doesn't more than 3 stars has to do with the lack of staff and the long wait for a drink. A crowd was starting to form and I felt bad for the one bartender. BUT it was a Saturday afternoon during a 3 day weekend. Not sure why they weren't prepared but it was disappointing. Honestly, they need to decrease their drink special menu since they're all really complicated. Overall, if they hired another bartender, I'd be willing to go back. However just know you will be waiting at least 15 mins to order a drink

Are you looking for a fun hangout, with a fresh island vibe, well the Rum Bar is your spot. Cocktails are tasty and the vibe is irie. The mixologist are very particular and they mix their drinks with a positive attitude. The only negative is the amount is ice included with each cocktail. This place doesn't sell food, but there was a pop up spot selling Jerked Chicken and Pork. Noting for us vegans. But, overall, great crowd, awesome service and positive vibes.

- brought to you by the makers of rogers garden - great rnb soundtrack on a Monday night - no speaker outside yet - great outdoor space - cute artwork - kitchen closed at nine on the night I was there (was told that may change) - indoor space with maybe 15 seats - very well made and crafted drinks - my liver has poor rum tolerance, and I was able to consume these drinks shout out to the bar manager - they are admittedly not big on tequila drinks - insane amount of rums from all over the world - I like jerk chicken empanadada - I liked sweet plantain - I liked pepper shrimp - cherry salad was good and large enough for 1.5 people - friendly staff - pot stickers did not have good reviews from our party - open air front windows/wall is going to make a this a great warm weather hangout

If you're a fan of rum, summers, and everything that reminds you of the Caribbean, then The Rum Bar is the place to be! I am Caribbean, and I LOVE rum, so knowing that there is a bar that serves all my faves in addition to great food, music, service, and decor in my neighborhood, you know, I had to be there asap. TRB didn't disappoint me. I enjoyed everything about this new space. Great for drinks with friends or solo. The vibes bring out the happiness in everyone who visits, so you'll most likely make a new friend there. I definitely recommend you give it a try.

Food was amazing , the chef Fermin Oviedo makes the most delicious oxtail I've had in years! The chicken wings were also great! The environment is great, music, very lively Will definitely come back to eat here!

Recently got to try some drinks from The Rum Bar, and let me just say, the drinks were SUPER tasty and definitely strong! The guys that prepared our drinks were so nice and friendly. I've been meaning to stop by for a nice happy hour since their bar looks so fun and lively! I can't wait to come in next to try a new drinks!!

Had no idea this place on prime Franklin Ave had food and a cute backyard!!! We stopped by for drinks, pregaming for Ras (which also has good drinks) and was pleasantly surprised. While waiting for drinks, someone told me to try their food next time. I had this place in my list for a while since it took over Domo Taco. This past Saturday when it was 80 degrees, we had ourselves a time with Burna Boy chunes on blast, windows wide open to the streets, and people vibing even at 5-6p. It seemed like a diverse crowd, struck up conversations with friendly people seated next to me while waiting for our drinks. The bartenders put extra care and labor into drinks, which is why it took a while but totally reasonable. Soufriere painkiller was great. The other drink we had was a grapefruit spritz, forgot the name, but that surprisingly ended up being our favorite. You must add this place to your list of neighborhood staples.

I want to love this bar. It's really cute, menu looks delicious, but unfortunately it's too hard to order. It took 25 minutes to order one drink, which was delicious when I finally got it. When I went for a second drink, I gave up after 25 minutes. I watched as several others have up too. This place has a lot of potential but needs more staff. There was only one bartender, no bar back, and they serve some complicated cocktails that take time to make. I hope this place adds more bar staff so I can come back and give it 5 stars.

Extremely cute bar. There is countertop seating facing the street with 2 huge windows. The colors are bright and vibrant. As I walked in the owner greeted me and interacted with us "Rummies." She was extremely nice. This rum bar is a total vibe. The music was great, and people were either dancing or meeting people inside. The bar is stocked with some of my favorite rums; Diplomatico, Zacapa, El Dorado, etc. What stood out to me the most was the cleasiness and how sanitary the bartenders were while creating drinks. I believe my rum cocrail was called "Straight to Kingston," but don't quote me. It was strong but really good. As the bar was closing, the dj was playing Lauryn Hill and everyone started singing . It was a great vibe. I will definitely be back to try food and more drinks.

Me and my friend went there last Saturday evening place look pretty cool but service horrible we seat down at the bar to get a drink bartender blond girl with short hair she didn't care to give us any service she was busy doing shots with 2 girls customers sin we were waiting for couple min but she didn't even came to us she was checking her phone and still entertaining those 2 customers!! That was very rude and disrespectful we got up and left for sure we not gonna come back to this place!!!!

When you first walk inside you are greeted with a vibrant atmosphere with colors and beautiful paintings, caribbean music and the concept of being in a tropical oasis. There is a back patio which is great for the summer and spring with plants and lighting. My friend and I ordered the little Caribbean it has tequila and hibiscus. First taste is spritzy and flavorful. It left me wanting more ( to which I ordered a 2nd drink. I had thr jerk chicken with pumpkin rice, plantains and cole slaw. The Cole slaw portions could have been a little more for my liking. The jerk chicken has a hint of spice when you first bite into it, but then the flavors burst through. It was my first time eating pumpkin rice and it was good. The plantains were cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the curry goat empanadas and she described it as being crisp, hot and fresh. She also had the macaroni pie which was very taste and a good cheese blen. The bartender was good and her service was good. I would definitely return.

So came here last wed after wanting to try this spot out since the summer time. When I walked in, they were only four people sitting at the bar. I was waiting on a girlfriend of mine to meet me there when she reached there we grab seats at the pot now there's six people at the bar upon entry the bartender was not behind the bar. OK cool when she did return though she never made eye contact with anyone nor did she greet anybody OK maybe she's busy maybe there are customers in the back I'm unsure either way, when she finally did glance up, we said hello she turned to the left. The guy next to me said he wanted the same of what he had and the same thing at the other side of the bar never did she greet us or ask us what we would like OK I'm thinking maybe she's gonna take care of them first and then take our order, Midway through her making their drink she stopped and walked back around the bar proceeded to talk to someone at the side who was sitting at the bar. They stood there and spoke for about 15 minutes. At that point we just decided to gather our things and leave because we're now in this place about 25 minutes. No drinks no eye contact , nothing I'm good we went around the corner to Altar and had a great time.

The service was terrible. I'm so disappointed because it has a great ambiance and the drinks were good but the workers are inattentive and one bartender was extremely rude and lazy, the other (tall man with the locs) had to intervene and help us and was extremely accommodating and pleasant (hence why i gave it two stars)

Nice place, bartender Ernest was great! he made me a painkiller and an off menu cocktail. Place just needs a water station. I can drink more if I'm hydrated and there isn't a server on the floor to provide waters Cod fritters are delicious!

I went here with great hopes, unfortunately I was utterly disappointed. The ambiance was colorful, the music was a vibe but the energy was anything but welcoming. Upon entrance, there was a host stand but there wasn't a host in sight and no one greeted us or explained how the system worked. We fumbled about, found the QR menu and proceeded to wait fifteen minutes at the bar to order a drink. At this point we were the only customers at the bar, as everyone had one drink then left. After the bartender finally acknowledged us, he took our order in a hurried manner then was instructed by a manager/colleagues to pour 8 shots for what appeared to be employees and their friends hanging out. Five minutes go by and we had to flag him down because we intended to order food as well. He told us that food wasn't ordered at the bar but at a little window off to the side of the bar, mind you this window is only marked pick up. We went to the window and the kitchen was empty, for another 15 minutes we waited and no one came back. We finished our drinks, and left. While the drinks were delicious and the food sounded yummy the service left a bitter taste in our mouths. The rum bar gives the energy of a dive bar instead of a trendy craft cocktail bar. The bartender moved slowly as he made the drinks, a lack of confidence that should have been made up in hospitality. There was an evident lack of leadership that centered guest experience. Over all I think the entire staff needs better training on spatial awareness and improve their sense of urgency. I am accustomed to things moving on island time but their customer service is not reflective of caribbean hospitality.
