"One of the few non-Caribbean owned restaurants in the country that gets it right, by blending a refined menu with well-oiled service and a fantastic array of cocktails. Later on in the week, dinner quickly turns into a Jamaican-style bashment, with local DJs spinning all the latest tunes from the island." - Riaz Phillips

Nice spot with loads of vibes (especially on the weekends). Best to make reservations. Food is good for most parts (salted at times) but flavourful but limited variety especially for vegans/pescatarians. Drinks are the best here and happy hour is even better with their 2 for 1 specials. Definitely a great space to vibes with friends/family with an amazing blend of Caribbean cuisine and music.

The service and drink quality are what stood out the most for us. Marinela and the rest of the crew were very helpful and fun! The drinks were a great value and we watched them pour the shots with a pretty heavy hand which was amazing 😆 We shared the dirty fries which were delicious! We plan to come back again before we leave London.

We went for drinks on Friday afternoon. We had the window seat so had a great view out into the courtyard. Whoever was in control of the playlist I'd give them a 10/10 for vibes. Cocktails were really tasty and the staff were really friendly too. Take advantage of the 241 deal!! Definitely will be coming back for food as well next time.

The jerk chicken is delicious, tender, juicy and just the right amount of char. Not too cheap for what you get especially the starter wings were expensive for a tiny portion. All our food came cold initially and had to be sent back but once it came out hot and fresh it was all very tasty. The cocktails were expensive and I didn't find them to be mind-blowing in any way and they felt watered down which brings down the overall rating. The service left much to be desired. Took forever to get the attention of the wait staff and to get the bill. All places now stick on the service charge without the diner having a say so I feel like they just didn't seem to care very much. I prefer to tip according to service experience but that's not the case now.

We were really excited to try the Rum Kitchen but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment! The restaurant was so so hot. Despite the windows open. It had air con which wasn't on. I ordered the KFC bowl which was fried cauliflower, rice and peas, kr coleslaw and a jerk gravy. I had to ask for both the gravy and hot sauce I'd ordered twice. When our food started to arrive, we still hadn't received our drinks, napkins or cutlery. I went to ask for some, the waitress said she'd bring it over. She never did. One of the group ordered a jerk pork bun but the pork was really chewy and bun soggy. The waitress said she'd return it and bring another. After 10 minutes she came back to say her manager would take it off the bill and did we want anything else instead! We received our drinks almost 40 minutes after ordering. The restaurant was too hot, too loud and the staff too busy. The ladies toilets had no hand soap and the men's toilets were blocked. My food was great but I won't return as it isn't the cheapest around and the service was just appalling. There are much better restaurants in the area to choose from.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Rum Kitchen in London's Soho district, and it was an unforgettable experience that blended delicious Caribbean flavors, an inviting atmosphere, and a vibrant island spirit. Upon entering The Rum Kitchen, I was immediately drawn to the lively and energetic ambiance. The tropical decor, reggae tunes playing in the background, and the friendly chatter of fellow diners created an authentic Caribbean vibe that transported me to a sun-soaked paradise right in the heart of London. The staff at The Rum Kitchen were not only accommodating but also exuded warmth and hospitality. From the moment I was seated, their attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were apparent. They were more than happy to guide me through the extensive rum selection, which is a highlight of the restaurant. Their passion for rum and the Caribbean cuisine was infectious and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at The Rum Kitchen is a culinary journey through the Caribbean, offering a wide range of dishes inspired by the region's diverse flavors. I had the pleasure of sampling several dishes, including jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and plantains, and each bite was a burst of Caribbean authenticity. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, with a smoky and spicy kick that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The coconut shrimp were crispy and accompanied by a delectable dipping sauce, while the sweet and savory plantains provided a delightful contrast. The Rum Kitchen also boasts an impressive selection of rum-based cocktails, and I highly recommend trying one (or more) during your visit. From classic mojitos to creative rum punches, their drinks perfectly complement the bold and flavorful cuisine. In conclusion, The Rum Kitchen in Soho is a fantastic dining destination for those seeking a taste of the Caribbean in the heart of London. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, and authentic Caribbean flavors make it a must-visit. Whether you're a rum enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, The Rum Kitchen offers a tropical escape that will leave you longing for more. It's a true Caribbean gem in the heart of Soho.

We are currently in town visiting from NY and wanted to support a Caribbean business, we came across The Rum Kitchen while on Oxford and we were instantly intrigued. The place did not disappoint, great food and drinks. Friendly staff and excellent service, thank you! Love and light from your Caribbean family and continued success in your business. 😀

Google
We were looking for somewhere to eat before the theatre and found this place. If you like a bit of spice and Caribbean food you’ll enjoy this place. Menu is nice and I went for the mutton curry and my girlfriend the chickpea curry. We both had the jollof rice. My mutton curry was gorgeous, the meat very tender and melt in your mouth. They also do 2 for 1 cocktails between 5 and 7. The staff were friendly and service good. All in all worth a visit. 🙂👍

Yelp
I have never encountered such a level of disorganization, and I've been working for a startup for 7 years. The staff we interacted with last night should be awarded for their creative and absurd excuses, along with their ability to acknowledge the problem by saying, "This is totally unacceptable, you are right," without taking any corrective action. Our work Christmas party was booked in the private dining room at the Rum Kitchen Shoreditch, with a £50 deposit per head. On the Monday preceding our reservation, we pre-ordered our food menus. We arrived punctually at 6:30 pm to a disorganized and chaotic scene, raising suspicions. Tables were strewn with dirty dishes, and the staff appeared overwhelmed. Despite a substantial party of 20 people already seated, there was only one cook. After several minutes without acknowledgment, we finally spoke to the restaurant manager, who informed us that the private dining room would be ready in 10 minutes. When we inquired about ordering drinks during the wait, we were told, "No, we are too busy right now," causing a second wave of apprehension within our team. Thirty minutes later, we were seated in the private dining room, with apologies from the staff claiming that the previous booking had overrun. We saw no evidence of a large party leaving during our 30-minute wait. I requested complimentary drinks due to their responsibility to manage bookings better. A 30-minute delay was already unacceptable, and a simple call could have informed us that this was going to occur. We left a pleasant time elsewhere to be on time for our booking, expecting a modicum of consideration. After an additional 10-minute wait, we received two bottles of rum punch and glasses for approximately 10 people, despite being a party of 15+. We asked for water, non-alcoholic options, and additional glasses. After 45 minutes, we had received nothing, and there was no sign of a waiter, despite our frequent attempts for an explanation. The private dining room, according to the website, includes a private waiter. Each time we inquired about our meal, we were met with new excuses, such as "40 of my staff didn't show up" or "someone called in sick." The cook even claimed, "I wasn't told about you guys." What is quite perplexing is that we did speak to the team during the day, around 3 PM, because we wanted to ensure one meat fest would be halal. Frustrated by the lack of improvement, we decided to leave. We secured another booking at a nearby curry house for 8:30 pm, where the service was prompt, courteous, and efficiently turned the night around. Unfortunately, four team members with commitments or residing further away went without a Christmas meal. We were instructed to contact Kaleam for a deposit refund. Upon calling the next morning, I spoke with the same restaurant manager. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes, I encountered more excuses. When I questioned why water was not brought during the wait, the response was, "but we didn't even have enough glasses!" I cannot adequately express how frustrating this entire experience has been and how many opportunities the staff or management had to improve it. Acknowledging their loss of control and inability to fulfill orders could have been an option, rather than making us wait like inconvenienced patrons in a chaotic environment. Kaleam has replied after a second email and a threat of a bad review on the next day. They have offered an brief apology and a refund, but no measure of goodwill. If you are considering planning a private event at the Rum Kitchen, I urge you to think twice. This level of mismanagement does not resolve itself overnight.

May K.

Yelp
They served raw chicken and dirty glasses. Do not go here, the food hygiene rating is 2 but should be 0.

Yelp
Great drinks with a cool Atmosphere. The ladies working here were very friendly and readily offered us suggestions, being were visiting the area. Drinks were delicious and very fresh. Loved the music and the decorations.

Bailey M.

Yelp
This restaurant was really busy when we came in. We were seated on bar stools near the window. People were constantly running into my chair. The service was slow. The drinks we had were just ok. Not something I'd order again. The bread pudding was dry. It was edible just not that good.

Jevet J.

Yelp
I didn't know what I was getting into, this place gave me a much more applebees vibe. The food was good, not great and the same can be said for the service. However, that was not the fault of the server, she was the only one there during a rush. I would be willing to give this place another go.

Mike E.

Yelp
Simply put, Caribbean influences but definitely not authentic Caribbean. I ordered the jerked chicken, which turned out to be tasty grilled chicken with a side of jerk sauce. Again, not bad... but definitely not jerk. Drinks are also good, diverse menu. However, service left a bit to be desired. I requested additional jerk sauce... that never came. Additionally, I was waited on by 4 different people, while I was by myself. Training the staff for proper service would be grrar

Yelp
This was such a fun place! A friend, who's a local, recommended it since it's her favorite spot. I'd say it has a Jamaican/Caribbean vibe and is in the middle of vibrant Soho, London. It's super difficult to find, but worth searching for. The entrance is near the Vans shoe store. I loved the vibe, and the happy hour prices. We did order food, which was a nice spicy treat. I had a jerk bbq bowl that did not disappoint. We sampled a few cocktail options from the happy hour menu. Most were quite tasty, but there was one that my husband ordered that was definitely an acquired taste that we did not have. I'd recommend this for lunch/dinner with friends, especially during happy hour. It's a great spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of Soho - or the weather!

Yelp
Who knew that you can find a little slice of the Caribbean paradise here? We were in the area when we got hungry and saw this adorable restaurant in the street. It had open windows and colorful decor which attracted us to this place. We decided to eat here and it was a really good decision. I got the jerk chicken with plantains. The plantains were delicious. They were cooked perfectly and I loved the sweet jam that they gave me as the dipping sauce. It was so flavorful and added to the natural sweetness of the plantain. The jerk chicken was tender and I loved the sides. They gave us a really good gravy! It had a really good heat level and complimented the dish very well! The service was good and the ambiance was on point. I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for something spicy and heavy!

Sofia D.

Yelp
The Mutton was Spicy Good. Just so you know... Between the music, and the people trying to talk over the music, it becomes an extremely loud place. I had to keep repeating myself to the person sitting 2 inches away from me. The plus side is that they play all the Caribbean hits which will have you moving, singing and eating all at the same time.

Yelp
We went as a group of 5 on a Saturday evening. I had made a reservation online knowing it'd be super busy. On arriving, I was told by staff that they could not find the reservation. After waiting for about 10 minutes they thankfully were able to find us a table. For starters we had the spicy fried wings and the fried squid (the wings were okay, but the squid was yummy). I tried one of their happy hour cocktails (the punch) which tasted watered down to me. For the mains we tried: - jerk bowl: yumzer! - curry mutton: good - spicy fried chicken burger: bland. - sweet potato fries: yumzer! - skinny fries: yumzer! - casava fries: really great! The restaurant itself is in a great location, and has a great vibe and I really liked the decor. The staff (despite the mix up with the reservation) were great. Around 9pm a DJ started playing, which was good fun, but it got way too loud to have a conversation so we went elsewhere for dessert.

Philip T.

Yelp
- One of the top off-island dining experiences when it comes to curried mutton, and they're not afraid "fi lik yuh wid di flava and wid di peppah". I completely cleaned my plate. Located in Kingly Court/Carnaby (a quick walk from the Piccadilly Circus stop on the tube), the Rum Kitchen serves up both food and atmosphere from from the Caribbean... more specifically, Jamaica (Home). I was amazed at how crowded it was on a Sunday night, but even without a reservation, we were promptly seated and was eating in almost next to no time! Old school 90s/00s American Hip Hop intermingled with a few from the 'teens set the musical tone. As a familiar tune played various patrons of the restaurant with whom the songs resonated would either chime in on the lyrics, do their best seat-dance moves or both! "Bang for the Buck": definitely a great price for the flavor and the size (yup, even with my Americanized portion-sized mind). This spot is definitely on my list for the next time I'm in London.

Yelp
The food was decent and there were a couple of things missing from our orders when it arrived at the time, but everything was brought to us eventually. I was expecting "traditional" Caribbean but I should have known better. I missed the veggies (didn't want slaw) and the normal rice and peas (this one had a huge coconut hint in their rice), but I wont complain too much because I ate my food. Ohh...those sweet potatoes fries were bomb and they almost tasted as if they could be a dessert with the added honey or whatever was glazed on them--yum! The server was a little slow, but we managed to chase him down when we needed stuff. Overall it was alright. The place is a little small and I felt like we were eating ON the people next to us because the tables were so small and crammed together, but whatever...not a huge deal, unless you are huge. Kidding....but yeah, they could spread those tables out to make it comfortable for everyone. I personally don't care for community seating and it somewhat felt like that. Worth a try...

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and I thorough enjoy. Ok it's a bit noisy so not the place if you want to have a quiet meaningful chat. However if you want a lively environment where you can get some good food a vibe and some cocktails then this is a place well worth a visit. Ok the menu may not be as extensive as some places but what it does it does well to recreate the Caribbean vibe in its food. In my opinion some options could use a little more spice on some, but I get it they have to cater for the masses. The service tries to be Caribbean but it's a good thing it's not otherwise you may never eat!! The waiting staff are good not to intrusive and helpful. The drinks menu is a decent one they have a range of cocktails some quite inventive, try the Ting Wray Cocktail, not my favourite but worth a try to experience it!! When I was there they were re-doing their desert menu, which is good as it was limited. What they did have was the caramelised banana cake and ice cream which hits the spot. That is if you have any space left which needs filling in your stomach. I suggest booking a table as it gets busy of an evening time but they certainly do take walk ups. The bar is small so it's not the place to go if you just want a drink and hang out. I will definitely be going back as I like the vibe and the staff during when week are a little more Caribbean then the weekend shift.

Yelp
- 5 stars just for the soca soundtrack - can't find that in london

Jack J.

Yelp
Very good food and it really brings to a very lovely and lively environment. The proteins are not greatly execute but it is still good, and very much enjoyable. Say hi to the bartenders and they could make you something off-list and WOW you a lot! Highly recommended! Go with your friends for a good time out

Clay G.

Yelp
I went here for dinner with my family. It was very loud in here so don't expect to have a quiet conversation. The food was alright. I expected it to have a little more spice to it. After a while the taste gets old, and you don't really want to eat it anymore. Maybe I should've had the rum.

Nit S.

Yelp
I was taken her for my first time on my Birthday as I am a massive Jerk chicken fan. This place is amazing. It has brilliant character, decor and staff and furthermore the food is mind blowing. I love the burgers that they have and the cocktails were delicious too. I have been back since and the quality was on par as my first visit. Furthermore our party were nightly impressed with the food themselves. I would highly recommend it and with the food coming in at less than £20 it is a right steal for its location!

Imaan V.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my experience at The Rum Kitchen! Phenomenal food - really enjoyed everything we ordered. Flavours and quality do not disappoint. Young & lively vibe perfect for a night out. Would definitely recommend!

Nathan D.

Yelp
Another excellent place to visit in Kingly Court, but be aware, you'll leave with a heavier belly... and a lighter wallet! We popped in on an impromptu second stag do to get some drinks and a snack, and although we didn't have a reservation, we were able to sit at a table for 30 minutes before the booking arrived. For the record, 30 minutes is easily enough time to eat some amazing jerk chicken wings, and to drink a massive, Indiana Jones-style, crystal skull glass full of rum cocktail. Ask to see the bible and you'll be shown a little book about every rum they stock, their origins and other interesting facts! 3 skull cocktails and a side of wings cost £65!! So don't expect a cheap night!

Sheetal M.

Yelp
I love the Rum Kitchen. I have been there a few times now and I am never disappointed with the food or the service. The first time I went I had the jerk chicken leg with rice and peas which came with gravy and it was divine. The chicken was tender and flavoured really well as was the rice and peas. The second time I went, I had a chicken burger and shared sweet potato fries and jalapeño poppers with my boyfriend. All of the food was again, delicious, I could not fault it. The cocktails are also pretty good, all of them having rum as one of the main ingredients in it. The vibe of the place is pretty relaxed with the decor being reminiscent of a restaurant/shack from the Caribbean. The staff are great, nice and friendly and I would definitely go back again - especially as it's just off of Carnaby Street!

Niro W.

Yelp
This place is packed on a Friday night. I came here to meet some mates, and I have to say it took age to just order a drink at the bar. We had made table reservations for that day, but somehow our table was delayed by 30 minutes. Once we got our table, I was told to order the supreme chicken, and it was delicious. If you have never had Caribbean food, I say order that for sure. Our waiter was very friendly, and made sure that our table was taken care off at all times. I am still buzzing about the food while writing the review. For anyone who hasn't been here, the restaurant is located inside the plaza. It took me few minutes to find the restaurant because the GPS wont tell you the exact location. I will be back when I am in London.

Sophie L.

Yelp
Oh this place is fun! Great music, rum cocktails and Caribbean vibe. Warm and welcoming staff. The menu is full of island flavours and there are decent vegetarian options as well. Portions are huge and comforting. The charcoal roasted red pepper stuffed with quinoa, mixed beans, carrot, coconut puree & crispy shallots was a satisfying and delicious meal - loved the hint of coconut and crispy texture of the shallots. The Jerk Fried Chicken had my friend in absolute food heaven, if I ate chicken I would have ordered this! Plantains are a must, get this as a side. The watermelon and cucumber salad was refreshing though very simple and not necessary as we already had so much food. Although the roasted sweet potato wedges, avocado, and toasted coconut flakes sounds amazing, it actually was not a very appetizing combination. I wouldn't order this. I would book a table as it is busy during peak times. Come with a few friends and have some rum cocktails.

Nina A.

Yelp
The music is loud and good Caribbean and R&B hits. Some of the food is good. I eat a lot of authentic Caribbean and African food so I'm trying to not be to judgemental. Don't get the jerk fish though. Too salty and fishy. The coconut rice was a bit hard and could use a little more seasoning and less coconut flakes. It was very busy when I was there so the service was okay. They seemed nice, but rushed. The most attentive conversationalist I spoke with was the busboy clearing my table. Because of him I'll come back to try one more maybe try the shift shell crab burger next time.

Peter H.

Yelp
Jerk chicken and beer! Nice setting, buzzing part of town and not too expensive. What more could you ask for.

Keith O.

Yelp
Important Tip: Download the Cake app, use your own referral code for your friends (not the waiter's) and you'll be taking £15 (£10 free + £5 per referral) off the bill per person. Now, that hopefully done, order a round of Zombies and get sloshed! The Zombie packs a hell of a punch, and is very worth the pricey tag of neatly £13 each. Dinner Rush hits hardest Thurs-Sat 6pm-8/9pm, so beware if casually dropping in! Also Happy Hour runs here (I think till 7pm) early in the week, so be clever and get in early. + Food is awesome. The chicken burger was Deceptively delicious, and very filling. I almost didn't need the tasty sweet potatoe fries. My mate had the jerk chicken main dish and wasn't enough for him, so definitely order sides! + Cocktails are all generally quite good quality. Order away! + Decor is good, and if possible try sit at the window ledge and watch all the action in Kingley Square. + Staff are good fun and jovial! Definitely a lot less uppity than the Rum Kitchen in my back yard of Portabello. If any negatives, it's not the cheapest eats, but it's a solid spot. Pop down to Cahoots after for some vintage Tube-themed cocktails after.

Jing Shyang Y.

Yelp
Really decent cocktails here. They are uber strong. So you've been warned! Food wise, the soft shell crab burger is stunning. The sweet potato fries are the perfect must accompaniment. The sauces and dips are excellent and a different twist on what you normally get in burger joints. The BBQ Rum and Scotch Bonnet Mayo awesome I wanted to take the bottle home with me. The staff are super friendly and up for a little banter. Despite the place being really busy, they didn't forget about us or our small requests for things like sauces. The place is quite hip and noisy, so not everyone's cup of tea. But honestly, you need to come here for the soft shell crab burger and sweet potato fries. You won't regret it! One cool thing is that when paying the bill they use an ipad app with one of those card readers that can email you the receipt. It can also evenly split the bill depending on the number in your party. That is cool to see.

Liz L.

Yelp
Too bad the decor is so enticing. Had it not been, we might have found an acceptable bar this evening. My friend and I were on the hunt for a good place to grab a post-movie drink. When we saw this place, we had thought we had found a hidden gem. Unfortunately, what we had actually found was nearly the slowest and worst service we've ever encountered and mediocre drinks in an overly loud setting. The service was so slow that we 1. waited for 20 mins for a drink order and the only way we got it was getting up from our table to find someone. 2. another 20 minutes of waiting for our drinks 3. which our waitress got wrong and 4. after finishing our drinks, waiting another 15 mins, and pulling on our coats/packing up (trying to signal we were leaving) we left our money on the table and flagged down another server to let them know we had paid our bill in full, but the waitress was no where in sight to even give us our bill. Horrible. The extra star in this review is because the building itself is nice enough to sit in and the mixed drink didn't epically suck.

Brittany L.

Yelp
I love this place. This was my go to spot while on holiday recently. Between the cheap delicious drinks and the food, I am not sure what I loved more. I spent under $50 for a gazillion rounds of drinks AND a full course of food!

Luke E.

Yelp
I'm a fanatic of this great establishment. Went here about two weeks ago and am still raving about how satisfied my stomach was. It's many times in life our belly's do not exceed the expectation of our eyes... however, at the run kitchen - every need was met. Great service. Great place!

Jason J.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in London. Great grub and atmosphere for those who like it spicy!

Helen L.

Yelp
Best jerk chicken in my life and their slaw is A1, i mean so rich and full of flavor. That jerk gravy is everything I've ever needed in my life. Drinks are hit or miss, sometimes. But my favorite drink is the Jamrock Punch!

Kelsey S.

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon Kingly Court the other night while out with two girlfriends. We were looking for a place for a good drink and just so happen to love rum. Saw the sign for The Rum Kitchen and practically ran up the stairs. Once inside, it had such a cool vibe. Dim lighting, cool beachy-esque decor, and fantastic music playing. Went up to the bar and I picked the first thing on the menu that I laid my eyes on.. "Rattle skull punch." The bartender was great, tossing around the bottles quite swiftly and chatting to us while he made our drinks. The drink I ordered was served in a mug, which I loved and garnished with mint and an orange slice. The taste was extremely unique, but absolutely delicious and quite strong (all make a great combination!). I highly recommend this place for a chill drink prior to going out or just to socialize with friends! Definitely will be back.

Afiya B.

Yelp
Service was excellent... it was my first time in London and I had great food and great drinks. The rum kitchen was so lit on Friday night during the carnival or should I say bank holiday...London I will be back especially Brixton which is my Oakland in London... I enjoyed you guys

Catherine F.

Yelp
Rum Kitchen has a buzz about it, a 'let's go to the Caribbean and do this everyday' kind of buzz. Turning up without a reservation on a Thursday is not advisable, nor is any other day I imagine. However, as luck would have it, after pitching up unannounced we managed to get ourselves a table... Ya man. Walking in here you feel the buzz of the place, lots of conversation and the ambience sets off a chatty relaxed vibe. Having been shown to our table by our host we sat down to peruse the menu, we decided that instead of main courses we instead needed a little selection of nibbles to satisfy us, plus we like to share, else we get food envy! Rachel's doing her own research peering at the other tables food whilst I looked at the menu... I was disappointed that water came in The Kraken glass bottle.. It didn't stop me having Jack Sparrow disillusions when I drank from it though.. Indeed, why is the rum always gone? So we eventually came to decide on three of the small plates to share... Jerk Chicken Wings with Scotch Bonnet Swamp Sauce, maybe the largest chicken wings I've had, these were seriously soft and devilishly sticky with a decent amount of chicken for a little wing! And the Swamp Sauce was as badass as it sounds. Island Spiced Baby Squid, piled high for such a small plate but neither of us complained. This was the softest squid I've eaten in London encased in the light crispy coating it was cooked perfectly. The Scotch-Bonnet mayo dip gave it the kick it needs to deserve its place in the Rum Kitchen and don't forget to squeeze the lime! Sticky BBQ Ribs had more than the usual, sticky sauce on a bone that I find with most ribs, they were meaty and I had no struggle to tear it all off. I love ribs, they demand to be picked up, leaving you with sticky, saucy fingers, the delight of eating is getting messy and indulging in licking your fingers, getting the last bits of meat off the bone and losing the lady like demeanour mostly required in social situations. I'll definitely be heading back for a main course, the curried mutton looked and smelled amazing! C.x

Yelp
We can here around 11:30 am for lunch during our visit to London. The restaurant is located upstairs in Soho. The service was great and food was excellent. We got the 3 piece jerk chicken bowl, burger and drinks. The drinks were pricey $9 same price as most of the lunch items. It gets pretty busy later after 12:00 pm.

Phil D.

Yelp
The drinks are a little pricey but I'll pay more for a drink if the music is good, the beverage is good, and the staff actually waits on me. I have no complaints about the rum Kitchen. Good drinks, good service, good atmosphere.

Tiggi K.

Yelp
LOVED the food and the atmosphere!! Really great. The sweet potato chips are heaven, somehow better than other sweet potato chips (apparently its possible!) Staff are good as well and the location is easy but also slightly hidden which adds to the fun! GO GO GO!

Jessica H.

Yelp
There's a great atmosphere and decor in this place and very lively staff. There was a group of five of us and we got quite a variety of dishes which all tasted great and, more importantly, authentic - a few of us in the group had some Caribbean blood in us, so we knew what the dishes should've tasted like :) My only complaint is that we had a very awkward moment at the end where someone in our group was waiting for her change for a very loooong time (about £7), when she finally got the waiter's attention, he told us that he'd assumed that that was a tip which ended the otherwise good evening on a bit of a sour, awkward note.

Yelp
Went during a busy time of year, just after Christmas and before new year's. They were busy, tables were heaving and totally under staffed!! Took a chance, managed to get a table. Was looking forward to it as I've heard so many reviews. Took about 20 minutes for someone to get our drink orders and a further 30 minutes for food, which in the end wasn't even worth paying for. The jerk wings are probably the only starter I'd have again. The fish fritters were too big and very very bland, think the chef had a bad day and forgot all the seasoning, won't be having that again. The calamari was ok, kind of tastes the same everywhere you go. The jalapeno poppers, the cheese is meant to me oozing out and well served hot too, it came out cold. Sweet potato fries are standard everywhere you go too. Drinks were ok, the mains actually looked a whole lot better, so will probably go back just for that. Maybe I wouldn't go back to carnaby street as the staff just looked so miserable and unpleasant. I might try the Notting Hill branch next time instead. If it's like this during a busy period, I'd hate to see what a slow period is like for them. Maybe they need to get backup temporary staff.

Yelp
Better than I expected it to be! If you've read any of my reviews, you probably already know how I feel about chains. Why do I keep going to some of them? Probably because London is BESIEGED by them. Kingly Court is quite close to my job so it's often a good source of food destinations but sadly due to rental prices in Carnaby Street that means all of them are chains because who else can afford to open there. We were intending to go to Dirty Bones but The Rum Kitchen caught my eye instead. At least Kingly Court does have some novel and interesting chains as opposed to the usual. It looked rather quiet inside but as soon as we stepped in the music was booming! There was a bit of a confusion in seating us but we eventually got a table at 6pm. There had a been a lot of empty tables but these quickly filled. We decided to go for the happy hour £5 cocktails. Bit of a rookie mistake, my daiquiri and 'the universe' cocktail came in very small glasses, tasted exactly the same and were very sweet. On initial look at the menu, I was surprised at how pricey it was considering none of the dishes came with anything. I opted for the ribs and the sweet potatoes fries. With two happy hour cocktails, my meal came to £25. Yeesh. Still hungry. You get two big ribs in the bowl, it was supposed to come with some pickle watermelon but I saw none of this. The ribs were good, in my opinion, but not that much sauce. A tablespoon across all of them maybe. Extortionately priced at £8.50. I was glad I went for the sweet potato fries instead of the wedges, as they were a decent size for £4.50. You seemed to get three wedges and a scoop of browned avocado for £5. Unimpressed. Unless you order a full main course and a side, you'll still be hungry. I would have probably ordered dessert but they came over to give us the bill and tell us to vacate the table as there was a booking. Nice. They never told us this when we sat down.

Yelp
It was first time. I had jerk chicken burger with fries and a cocktail. Burger was ok, it was tasty, fries...nothing special...normal regular fries. It was okay food. We got seated at the bar with a view towards the inside court, which i dont mind at all, but the chairs are ultra mega giga uncomfortable....higher than the bar which makes it awful height to eat and you keep sliding off....very frustrating. Music was quite good...mainly reggae, very fun. It was quite busy so might be better to book in advance if u wanna go for this place. Staff were nice but very pushy with taking our stuff when we werent even finished. Happened a few times and finally gave up and let them take it all. Uh....glad we tried new places but not the best tbh.

Yelp
I was fairly underwhelmed by the service here. The happy hour prices are brill and the drinks yummy, but it was too crowded, with a weird policy of not being able to stand by the bar. It's obviously a tiny place - and because of that I think I'd enjoy it more for lunch than a weekend dinner. The food was decent but the plantain not sweet enough for me. Still, we had good times here as a group and some rather indecent chat!

Yelp
The manager Hannah was such as doll and made sure everyone in th restaurant was well taken care of. We had the snapper and it was the best I've ever had. Drinks were flavorful as well. Great service overall and will be back.

Yelp
Very hip place to have dinner and drinks. They have an incredible selection of drinks and the fried chicken was absolutely amazing.

Yelp
I have been to the Rum Kitchen in Notting Hill multiple times for brunch and always enjoyed it. I went to the new one in Soho expecting the same sort of experience. The location is really cool and the interior decor is very nice. The music is loud, but not distractingly so. I had the soft shell crab burger with sweet potato fries. It was good; I'd order it again, but nothing worth raving about. The sauces they have to offer are a nice addition that allows you to pick how much spice you want. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals, no food was left on any of our plates. The staff were friendly enough but, definitely not the friendliest. They also weirdly don't offer cheese with anything, so you can't get cheese on any of your meals. It is a bit pricy for sandwiches; the food and drinks do begin to add up. I would go back because the atmosphere is so cool and it is usually a good experience.

Yelp
This place is packed with promise. From the beautiful setting, to the queue spilling out the door and the delicious aromas luring you in - but unfortunately it fell short of my expectations in a few ways. Now I'm not ignorant to city centre food prices but this place is too expensive. I'm happy to pay over £9 for their perfectly crafted cocktails but £13.50 for a jerk chicken meal with next to no veg is extortionate, especially seeing as it doesn't taste very authentic. Real Caribbean portions are generous with sides of veg and hard food (plantain or festival) as standard. The friendly staff, joyful atmosphere and great selection of tunes is what saves this place.

Yelp
This is Caribbean and not Jamaican let's be clear. Service was AMAZING! I was traveling solo and needed a table. The whole wait staff worked quickly to get me a table. If there is a line it's worth it to wait. They are very quick! I ordered the jerk wings, roasted corn, and Mac and cheese. The Mac was terrible but everything else was good, esp the drinks. The DJ was BOMB and played the best tunes ever! It was hard to eat without dancing. Lol Above all else, the service was fantastic and that for me is always a plus! Check them out! Great place to go for a good vibe, good food, and bomb music!

Yelp
Excellent location and very relaxing vibe. The food was delicious. We had the full grilled fish and it was very tasty. The cocktails were great too. Overall very nice place with excellent service.Right in the midst of the shopping and dinning district. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing, very good service and the ambiance was fantastic. I loved the smell coming off the smoker and the spice level of the food
