10 Best Bars and Restaurants for a Taco Tuesday in San Antonio | Eater

"A departure from your typical taco joint, The Rustic has something for everyone, ranging from burgers to chops. Still, the daily tacos are worth a special visit, especially when paired with a side of white hominy jazzed up with smoked ham and chipotle garlic cheese. A solid tequila-heavy cocktail menu and live music round out the fun. You’d be remiss not to try the Pineapple Smoke, a fruity take on a classic margarita that includes agave syrup, pineapple, and lemon juice." - Vox Creative

Amazing atmosphere with great service. Sorry didn’t take photos for the food because we were overwhelmed and enjoyed the live band. Excellent food in every bite. Great place to hang out on the weekend if you are in San Antonio. I strongly recommend this great place and will definitely be back during my next visit to town. Well done to all the staff and management, keep it up and thank you for the great pleasant evening.

Awesome atmosphere! Impressive live music every night! This place was built for live music great food and fun with family and friends. Service was ok, there was plenty of tables available however they were short staffed so we had to wait longer than necessary to be seated, this should be corrected. Food is good however there are few substitutions for sides. Interesting menu, awesome desserts! Try them all! Over all positive experience. Would recommend and come back.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning and was able to get a table pretty quickly. We sat inside but facing the open patio with the garage doors open. The live music was the perfect touch. Our server Alan was friendly, attentive, and very helpful with the menu. There is a set brunch menu that is served family style. The salad with the lemon vinaigrette was my favorite! Bacon was perfectly crispy. The sausage was a bit spicy, but to me, in a good way. Great portions, everyone was full. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious. This was my first time here and I would definitely come back.

Came out for Sunday brunch without reservations around noon, but was seated inside within 15 minutes. There were plenty of outside tables available, but it was a little too hot for me, even with the umbrellas and fans. The waiting area has plenty of seats while waiting for your table. There's also bar seating if you want to grab a drink while you wait. Once seated, the service was friendly and prompt. Since it's primarily focused on Brunch, there were a few regular menu items not available, but that was understandable. Decided to order a few drinks and the fixed brunch menu. The brunch menu consisted of cheese & fruit, avocado toast, baked eggs, salad, bacon & sausage, hot chicken, fried toast, grits, and donuts. It was small servings similar to tapas, but it was a lot of food overall. The food was good and was enhanced by the ambience. There was live music outside, but they also play over the speakers on the inside. It was crowded and live music, but was able to easily have a private conversation at the table. Nice place to come for brunch while enjoying a few drinks and live music.

Visited The Rustic on new year’s day for dinner. The bar was about half full and the restaurant about quarter. We were seated on the table right by the big door leading to the outdoor seating. It was pretty chilly and hence I requested a different seating, I was told there were limited servers and that they had blankets. I requested to at least get those doors closed to which they obliged. A server was assigned to us within few minutes. Food came out at a decent pace but we were not impressed with the aesthetics of food presentation or the flavors of what we ordered. For appetizers, we ordered chips and queso. Apparently they don’t have tortilla chips. They came with potato chips. The combination of potato chips and queso wasn’t the best at taste. They also charge $16.95$ for that. The tortilla chicken soup cup was all stained with soup and condiments. Not very pleasing to look or touch. It was little on the spicier side and so was the Mac and cheese. My friend ordered pork chop which came with some sort of mash, unsure what but the way it was plated, looked like corn bread was dropped on the floor which broke to pieces and they just picked it and put it on the plate. Per my friend the pork chop was decent. Also we were not given any silver ware or napkins. Water was not refilled. We had to ask for both of these items. The ambiance of the place is good but food and service can be better.

Atmosphere more for young adults. Chairs were uncomfortable & though we were there during a time when there was no band and only a few other customers, it could’ve been really loud. As it was, it was OK Food was good. Happy hour on specific appetizers and the tortilla soup was really good. Waitress had to walk a long distance to reach our table. She was attentive though. Tables had a device to call them though.

I really like the ambience there! They have live music over the weekends! I went there twice so far! I liked the rustic burger and cheesecake sandwich! We took another chicken sandwich that was pretty dry! Overall it’s great! They serve chips with their burgers but I took fries but for that you need to pay $2 extra. That fry was good! I did not like the chips much as it felt dry!

Recently moved to the area and have tried many restaurants, but when we stopped by at the Rustic on a cold Friday evening, I am happy to say our experience was phenomenal! The ambiance - beautiful large venue with energetic vibe. The hostess was accommodating as we wanted to sit outside to see the live band, although you can hear the band inside as I was told the venue has speakers inside. It’s was very cold and rainy but she sat us under a covered patio and they turned in the outdoor heaters and felt very comfortable and warm. The Service - our server Adam was the best server we have had since living in San Antonio. He was delightful and attentive and made great recommendations. He also mentioned they are changing their menu soon and are trying out new drinks and food. I am excited about this as the food we had this evening was wonderful! Food - we started with their onion rings and empanadas and both were delicious. The onion rings had a light coating and so tasty! The flavor of the empanadas great and the crust was also very light and crispy. My son and I ordered the brisket and tinga tacos! The brisket was sweet and tangy and the chicken tinga was good but i personally would have like a bit more spice. The salsa they provided has a nice kick so that helped! I had to get extra though since I love spicy flavors. :—). My husband ordered the drunk chicken and it was very moist and delicious! When it arrived the lady poured over the rest of the juices from the can over the chicken and it was neat to see. The jalapeño spoon bread it came with was something I had never had before but it was good! The s’more box dessert was so good I could not stop eating it. They serve it with a very large marshmallows. Not overwhelmingly sweet either. Drinks - old fashioned were balanced well and my smoked pineapple was refreshing. Beers were cold! Thank you Adam for your great recommendations and for such an amazing experience! Can’t wait to visit again!
