The Sakai

Seriously, stepping into Sakai is like being instantly transported to a legitimate omakase counter in Japan. The authenticity is unreal. The food speaks for itself: the fish was incredibly fresh, the sake pairings were perfect, and the Wagyu, cooked right in front of us, melted like butter. But the highlight was meeting Mr. Hiro Sakai. He is one of the kindest, most genuine hosts you'll ever meet. Because my colleague and I couldn't stop raving about how much his restaurant reminded us of Japan, he personally offered us a complimentary taste of one of his finest sakes! If you are in Frankfurt, do yourself a huge favor and book Sakai. It’s an unforgettable experience you won't regret.

The quality of the fish was incredible, especially the fatty Tuna. The portions were also quite generous and I was fully satisfied at the end of the meal. Only improvement point is the wine pairing. Portions were ridiculously small (50mL) considering the price and they always came a few minutes before the dish. By the time you had two sips the wine, it was over and the dish hadn’t even arrived.

Absolutely outstanding experience. The food was a solid 10/10, authentic, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the evening even more enjoyable. If you want to experience real Japanese cuisine, this place is an absolute must-visit. For a few hours, you truly feel like you’re in Japan. Thank you Mr Hiro Sakai and the entire team for a memorable dinner!

We thought the sushi lacked flavor, combined and paired with other ingredients everything still tasted bland. The Waygu beef did stand out. Service is excellent and atmosphere is good.

Each dish was a gastronomic masterpiece! Friendly and attentive service. Good drink list. Food quality was amazing! Not cheap, though, budget ~€160-180 per person for a menu and drinks included. You won’t leave hungry, that’s for sure.

This restaurant is one of the finest in Frankfurt. Every dish in the course menu is absolutely delicious, and you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. We visited to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and the surprise celebration they prepared for us made it a truly memorable experience. Thank you so much! We will definitely visit again.

A real gem in Frankfurt! We ordered two Omakase menus: one classic and one vegan. Every plate was delicious, from the starters to the dessert platter. We could see the chef craft the sushi from our spot at the bar, which made it a truly memorable experience. We also enjoyed the decor, music, and sake selection. The staff was truly lovely and even surprised us with some birthday cake!

Such a wonderful experience! The food and service is 10/10. I loved how each dish highlighted a unique ingredient from Japan and they tell you the story behind each dish. The sushi chef has been doing it for over 30 years, and just now moved the operation to Frankfurt. Highly recommend. Also if you can, sit at the bar!

This was a good food experience, ambience and service was great, but the food was not worth it. It wasn't bad, but just not worth the price. Ambiance 10/10 Service 9/10 Food 7/10
