"Opened in 2007 by Mitchell Rosenthal, Steven Rosenthal, and Doug Washington, Salt House was known as a place to see and be seen for SoMa power players and local/visiting celebs. It was in high demand until the pandemic, which led to its closure due to losing lunch crowds and inability to negotiate rent with the landlord." - Eve Batey

This used to be my favorite eatery in New Hope. I have eaten here countless numbers of time. The food and cocktails were amazing. The place is quaint and cozy with both upstairs seating on couches and a nice outside area. I recently went here on a date and the food was subpar. The waiter with the long hair is amazing. He was attentive and friendly. By far the best part of this experience. Other staff members presented to the table serving food and were unable to answer basic questions due to language barriers. The food this time around was bland. The octopus was awful. The meatball sauce was too sweet. The oysters arrived in a puddle of water instead of on ice. I was embarrassed that I had recommended this place. I’m not sure what has happened over the last few months as this is my go to place but I will not be returning.

Google
A bit overpriced for a chef who brought to the menu amazing selection of nice dishes, but somehow doesn’t manage to prepare them well. The place is wonderful all tavern with great history. Cocktails are decent and no mistake. But food was either overcooked or undercooked, salty or unseasoned, basically everything was false. It still gives authentic taste, but you could say something is missing on each bite. Disappointing but okay.

They had Fullers ESB which is one of my favorite beers so that was great. Crab cakes were delicious and all crab no filler. Parking is a bit of a pain and the place can be quite loud but overall I enjoyed it very much.

We visited for lunch. Very pleasant and inviting atmosphere. We decided to try the $55 special, which offered a nice variety of dishes. While the service was satisfactory, it didn’t stand out as exceptional. The highlight of our meal was the squash and pomegranate salad, and the haddock chowder. bursting with vibrant flavors and textures. The fried chicken sandwich was another standout, crispy and savory, making it a delight to eat. However, the chocolate tart cake fell a bit flat and didn’t quite meet our expectations. For our next visit, we’re considering sitting at the bar to enjoy a more casual experience.

Been coming here for years with the lady. Only twice a year because of distance. But it is special to us. Love the oysters, wine selection, upstairs vibes, and the goat cheese and honey crostinis. Service has always been top, no matter who was assisting us.

The gorgeous wood burning fire place sets the vibes for an amazing dinner. We had a great meal at the bar with delicious cocktails. Highly recommend!

Google
Charming spot in New Hope with a cozy, historic vibe. We sat in the upstairs library area, which was lovely—felt tucked away and warm. That said, some of the couch seating had a bit of a “grubby” feel that might be off-putting from a hygienic standpoint We stuck to the vegetarian options and were pleasantly surprised by the flavors: Pear, Gorgonzola & Spinach Salad – ★★★★★ Loved this! The walnuts really pulled it all together. Goat Cheese & Honey Crostini – ★★★☆☆ Nice flavor but the bread could’ve been crisper. Brussels Sprouts – ★★★★★ Absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and seasoned. Deviled Eggs – ★★★★☆ Solid dish, great texture, and flavor. Looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu!

We recently visited The Salt House while in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! This historic gem perfectly blends authenticity and elegance, offering guests an atmosphere that feels both charming and sophisticated. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the warm, inviting ambiance—a perfect reflection of the town’s rich history and unique character. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff who made sure every detail was perfect. Seeing The Owner himself greeting guests, seeing the passion and value he gives to his guests and staff was truly admirable. The presentation of the food was absolutely stunning, with each dish showcasing both culinary artistry and delicious flavor. It’s clear that The Salt House takes great pride in every aspect of the dining experience. We were visiting from out of town, supporting our sister franchise Redbox+ Dumpsters, and this visit to The Salt House was an absolute highlight of our trip. It’s a must-try for anyone in or around New Hope—a true testament to the best of Pennsylvania’s hospitality and culinary excellence. We can’t wait to return!

Yelp
Just had an amazing dinner at the Salt house and enjoyed their famous burger! Best in Bucks county. Shout out to Trevor who's service was exceptional and matched the outstanding experience that we enjoyed.

Yelp
Their special spicy margarita is great - not that stong, had 5 throughout 4 hours and didn't really feel a buzz lol (im addicted to the salt rim they have black chunky salt - love!) oysters were cold and had a great cocktail and mignotte sauce. added a side of fries and garlic aioli - the best combo! ended up convincing my mom to come to dinner had the goat cheese toast app - not too overpowering really perfect actually for dinner my mom had the seabass cooked to perfection - crispy and soft with a nice bed of risotta I had the short ribs and mashed - ugh this one is always good everywhere haha small cute homie place, will def go again! (maybe not for the drinks tho lol)

Yelp
It has been about five years since we have last been to Salt House. It was restaurant week so six of us decided to take advantage of the four course $55 fixed price restaurant week menu. So glad we did because we all enjoyed it. It was a good value since it included a signature cocktail, appetizer, dinner and dessert. Our friends had to put $150 deposit down to reserve the captains table. $150 seems like a lot, but I understand why they do that. It is a small place. It is nonrefundable, but you can move that to a different night. Since it was a blistery cold night, parking wasn't too bad. We parked a few blocks away. The place is very cozy, small, but very dark. A few extra lights or candles, would have been appreciated. We had to use our cell phone flashlight to read the menu...and hoping we didn't have any bugs in our food because we could not see our food. It was that dark. The place is not large and we enjoyed sitting at the captains table right next to the warm gas fireplace. The fixed price restaurant week menu had some great choices. I have to say I picked well. We all started with their signature cocktails as part of their fixed price menu. My cocktail choice was the Freudian slip (I believe). It was served in a martini glass. It was a nice change from my usual dirty martini and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would order it again. For my appetizer course, I started with the brussels sprouts in a Sriracha sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I was fluctuating between that and the artichokes, but glad I went with the brussels sprouts. The wedge salad with lots of fresh Bacon pieces and dressing looked heavenly but I am sure tons of calories. I'm so glad I went with the brussels sprouts. It was hard to narrow down my main course, but I decided on the haddock fish and chips. I am still thinking about how good they were today. It was excellent. Others chose the short ribs which they said was good, but not the best and a few others picked the burgers which they enjoyed. For dessert, our Server told us about the rice pudding which the owner's mother apparently makes which has blueberries and a lemon zest. It sounded so good that I had to try it. Especially since the bread pudding, which she also makes was not available. The bread pudding would have been my first choice. Nonetheless the rice pudding is outstanding and a great pick. Devon was an awesome server. We were not rushed, food was served timely including refills on drinks, friendly and he explained the menu and drinks really well. Overall, we had a wonderful night and a memorable dinner.

Yelp
I went to The Salt House for a friend's birthday. I would not recommend this restaurant for groups over 4. Due to the restaurant being small, we had to wait over an hour to be seated with a reservation. The seating situation wasn't ideal but we made it work and had a good experience. The Salt House has a cozy and moody vibe at night (perfect for dates). Our server was very attentive & made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered dirty martinis to drink & the linguine seafood pasta for my meal. The portions were small but the food was fantastic. If I'm ever in the New Hope area again, I will definitely return.

Yelp
I loved the Salt House. They have some of the best apps. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching.

Andreina S.

Yelp
This place is one of my favorites in New Hope, the atmosphere specially during winter months while they have their wood fireplace on, is just great, cozy and makes you feel like you are somewhere on a mountain or ski resort. Their food and service is great too. Make sure you reserve a table in advance as they place is pretty small and popular.

Yelp
Went here for an anniversary dinner and it must be my favorite meal I've had this decade. The deviled egg appetizer was delicious and so were the meatballs. Our meals were 10/10. The ambiance is STUNNING - such a charming place.

Yelp
The Salt House has been one of my favorite Lambertville/New Hope establishments for years. It's a little off the main thoroughfare in downtown New Hope (so it's not quite as chaotic as some of the nearby areas, but still has very decent people watching if you're outside), and the interior is exactly what you'd expect from a converted 1751 salt house - personality oozing out of its ye olde wooden pores. I've had a solid handful of great experiences here, which is why it was disappointing that this was only pretty good. In a roundabout way, it's actually a compliment overall. I came here with my top tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality this past Saturday for a lunchtime break from our Stockton/Lambertville/New Hope hike, which I heartily recommend to anyone with working hindpaws. It was GORGEOUS out so the only question was whether Salt House was open to accommodate a meal that clearly needed to be enjoyed in their patio. (They sometimes have very weird hours and don't have a normal website - I've definitely wandered over here during standard business hours to see it not open and it being frankly unclear if the restaurant had shut down permanently. A wave of emotions every time.) We were warmly greeted by the hostess and had our pick of quite a few seating options; my chum chose one right on the edge close to the Ferry St. side, and we made ourselves comfortable. I was thrilled to see my old cocktail chum What's the Buzz still on the menu (bourbon and honey for the win), which really hit the spot. Perfect blend of tastes, and rivals one of my all-time favorites, the Gold Rush at The Vault in Sedona, AZ. However, the second one wasn't mixed at all, which I discovered when my straw sucked up nothing but straight-up bourbon. A real unforced error in my book, all the more egregious because the template is there for a fantastic beverage. A highlight? The honey/goat cheese crostini is also still on the menu, which is a phenomenal app. Huge recommend. It hits every spectrum of the palate and I don't mind the inevitable stickiness on the paws afterwards. Perfect way to start a meal. The entree section always looks good to me - frankly, any menu featuring wild boar is probably going to be okay in my book. At the very last minute, I switched from the wild boar pasta dish to the braised short ribs on the recommendation of our server, which was honestly a mistake. The ribs were good - tender but not quite as flavorful as I would have expected. And the garlic mashed were a big swing and miss - they were drowned out in a watery, greasy mess, and a few chunks weren't even mashed. That was by far the low point of the meal and the loss of the wild boar haunted the rest of my waking hours. My chum was underwhelmed with her scallops, mostly due to their miniscule size, but did say that the polenta was very good. The service was off the charts exceptional though, which really redeemed this experience for me overall. It's always really good but this particular time was an all-timer. The hostess was SO friendly/accommodating, and it was honestly a treat to keep running into her throughout the meal (when I had to go inside to use the restroom, for instance). I assume somewhere in the world they have hostess classes, and I'm also assuming this woman teaches them. Perfect. Our waiter was also excellent - very engaging and helpful, despite diverting me from the wild boar. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and also candid about the age of the scallops (he admitted he wasn't entirely sure how long they'd been at the restaurant since he hadn't worked since Wednesday, but sometime between then and our meal, which was apparently acceptable to my dining companion). Like every tourist trap, the New Hope restaurant scene is super uneven. This is one of the better ones though when it's open.

Yelp
We managed to get a reservation on Saturday afternoon which is a must at this place. It's really tiny and tables are limited. We split the wedge salad and had burgers. For dessert we had some sort of chocolate mousse cheesecake: the food was absolutely delicious. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I can't wait to go back!

Qin Z.

Yelp
It's a small outside dining area. Servers were friendly but the food took forever to get out. Close to 40 minutes for our apps and another 30 mins for our entrees. Now the food. Braised Short Rib: 0/5. In fact I would go negative if I could. First off they presented a boneless short rib. Which is a beef chuck. If I knew it was "boneless" I would not get it for $27. The flavor? Terrible. It's the taste of a light beef stew. Literally what they presented was large piece of beef chuck beef stew on some mash potatoes and broccoli rabi and charged $27 while saying it's short ribs. Big scam. "Seafood" Linguini: 4/5 not a lot of seafood but flavor wise it's good. Gives you a little sample of everything. Goat Cheese and Truffle Honey Crostini: 4/5 it's was good. Good pairing of the sweet honey with the goat cheese. Crostini a bit soft. Duck Meatball: 4/5 this was pretty decent. Nice flavors that melded well together. Overall: The short ribs ruined the whole experience. Everything was ok but certainly on the more expensive side of food. Definitely not worth the price, time, and quality of food.

Yelp
Overall, a 5 star experience all the way. My partner and I had one of our best meals here and the ambiance felt like we were transported back to the early 1900s. This is an example of a restaurant that goes above and beyond with its service. From the moment we entered, we felt so welcomed by everyone including the fellow diners. We were given a seat in the window, which was so special. It was a little warm but nice to be spared from the mosquitos outside. Our server was so warm and authentic. We loved it, and she was so nice to our kids (in a restaurant that probably doesn't see many toddlers). For our main course, I ordered the chicken milanese, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a salad topped with lemon dressing. This was a birthday dinner for my partner and they provided a delicious flourless chocolate cake with a candle. It was the perfect night!

Steven G.

Yelp
The place is small, quaint and cozy. Diners near the front door will get a cold breeze from patrons coming in and out, so that could be an issue. The dining area is right up against the bar area so noise could also be a factor. The server was pleasant, friendly and welcoming. My Sidecar cocktail was good but not worth 20 bucks. WTF. The crostini with goat cheese was very tasty. Deviled eggs were good but didn't stand out. The duck meatballs were bland and tasteless. Skip those. Main courses of braised short ribs and linguini with seafood were great, lots of flavor. Unfortunately, a fight started at the bar and two drunk women were about to throw down. I could have done without that. It made me want to get the hell out of there. Cute looking place but I'll try elsewhere next time we're in New Hope

Colleen D.

Yelp
What a cute place full of history. It's a small space with a lot of charm. It was a very busy day and the staff was honest about the kitchen being backed up so we were asked to wait 15 minutes until being seated, which I appreciated. We sat at the bar and had drinks while we waited. I had the crab cake sandwich, it was very good except the fries were not actually belgian fries, they were shoestring. The sandwich and aioli however were tasty. We also enjoyed the grilled artichokes and goat cheese with truffle honey.

Donna P.

Yelp
My daughter and I had dinner outside and it was the perfect night for it. We were attended to immediately but our food was quite slow to come out. It was a Saturday night so maybe that's why. My daughter had the oysters which she proclaimed to be a rip-off as she said they weren't that good. I'm not an oyster connoisseur so I really don't know. We both enjoyed the Brie though. She had the duck meatballs and I had the red pepper vodka sauce with the pasta. The sauce was excellent ... I wanted to slurp it up but too many people around ... just a little disappointed that there was hardly any eggplant in there. Our server was Devin and he was nice. Maybe I'm out of touch but I thought the prices were high. I know the other restaurants had similar prices though. But $22 for a cheeseburger? $22 for Brie with berries?

Yelp
We've made many trips to New Hope but never noticed nor knew about Salt House until I found it through a Yelp search looking for a place for a nice lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is just off the main drag on a tiny side street by the river. The restaurant is in a historic building built in 1751. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant is quite small and only one room on the main floor can accommodate a party of 6. We sat on the main floor next to a fireplace. It was cozy and relaxing and quite rustic. The small bar was right next to us and filled up quickly. The bathroom is tiny and down a dark narrow flight of stairs so definitely not handicap accessible. We ordered cocktails and everyone loved them. The espresso martini was excellent as was the homemade Bloody Mary. We also started with a few apps...mussels, goat cheese baguette, and some of us ordered the bowl of haddock soup. Everything was delicious and the mussels may be some of the best I've ever tasted. Our server was very cool and relaxed and explained the menu and told us about some of his favorite dishes. He also mentioned that Bradley Cooper dined in the restaurant the night before and he had the opportunity to wait on him! For our entrees a few ordered the chicken sandwich and burger based on our server's recommendation. My wife ordered the short rib and it was fabulous. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant for lunch and we cannot wait to return to try it for dinner!

Yelp
My husband and I ate here late September to celebrate our anniversary. It was a great location in New Hope and has parking nearby. It's really cool that it is in an old house from the 1700s. They have a lot of outdoor seating which is wonderful in the warmer weather months, as well as a downstairs dining area with a fireplace, bar, and an upstairs dining area, which is where we sat. we had a reservation at 12:30 and pretty much had the upstairs dining area to ourselves. It smelled old and had a lot of character and made for unique dining experience. Our server was nice, and the food was delicious. We split dessert and it was a really nice meal to celebrate our anniversary. I deducted a star because the chair I sat in was very flat and a little uncomfortable, but other than that, I would definitely return. Bathroom is located down a narrow flight of stairs so keep that in mind if those would be a challenge for you. It's an old house after all!

Rachel G.

Yelp
On a whim, my folks and I stopped here for lunch today and, for the most part, we enjoyed ourselves. We ate outside on the patio, which would have been lovely had a tractor trailer not idled on the adjacent road for 15-20 minutes. (Of course, the restaurant couldn't help that--it just made for an extremely loud lunch.) The service was quick and efficient; our orders were taken right away, our food came out soon after, water was refilled frequently, and the check was ready as we finished eating. The area I was a bit disappointed with was the food. My parents ordered crab cake sandwiches with friends and enjoyed them. They liked the slaw, aioli, and the toasted bun. They also said the crab cakes contained a lot of crab, not much filler. The crab cakes are fried, not broiled, so be aware if you order these. I ordered the grilled wedge salad. I really wanted to like this, but the salad was absolutely drowned in bleu cheese dressing; there had to have been about a half-cup or more of dressing on the lettuce. It overpowered the rest of the flavors: grilled iceberg, tomatoes, and bacon. There was a generous amount of cheese in the dressing, I'll give them that. But the dressing was so out of balance that it really did a disservice to the whole dish. I would not recommend this salad. Despite this disappointing platter, I would visit again and try something else, as other meals and cocktails I saw delivered around us looked quite good.

Paul W.

Yelp
Burger was even better than advertised. Great meal with great suggestions by the waiter. Love when there is honesty and great satisfaction with recommendations.

Megan D.

Yelp
This cozy little restaurant in the heart of New Hope offers attentive service, clever cocktails and mostly great food ( the cheese board is unimaginative). Sit by the fire on the first floor or sprawl out a bit in the upstairs library wherever you choose remember that It's a tiny space so make a reservation.

Deb H.

Yelp
Went for restaurant week during the coldest week of the year 1/2025. Food was tasty, portions are small. My charred artichoke was maybe one artichoke cut up. The boar bolognese was very tasty. They were all out of desserts except timamisu with looked like a 1/2 piece each. You do get a complementary cocktail for the $55.00 per person for lunch. They had no hot beverages. Parking is an additional $9.00 in the lot for the theater. I do recommend, but only if you want to experience a day or night in New Hope, PA. The building is interesting.

Mike D.

Yelp
Unfortunately today was quite a bad experience at Salt House. Walked in and the bartender proceeded to tell us that he is the only one there and he is way behind on drinks....he has tables to clean up and we can't sit at a table, only the bar. Wasn't very apologetic just totally overwhelmed and pretty much a major turn off. We sat at the bar, hoping that we might be able to at least have a decent lunch but after five minutes, we decided to go elsewhere. Other people said they had been sitting there for a half hour and hadn't even received a menu yet. Not sure how you run an establishment like this.

Kelly P.

Yelp
Such a cool historic restaurant to visit. I love that the building is being kept and used. The library lounge is such a vibe. We came here on Saturday afternoon right at 12 and we didn't have to wait for a table. We were seated right away by the friendly hostess. We both ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was fried to perfection. The perfect crunch in each bite and it was topped with a coleslaw and aioli sauce which paired perfectly.

Nicole M.

Yelp
My fiancé and I came to new hope for a valentines get away and we made a reservation at house two weeks ahead of time and got the earliest which was 830. So we had an entree elsewhere and came for apps and cocktails. I had an old fashioned and an espresso martini my fiancé had some tequila cocktail which was also very good. We had duck meatballs and some oysters both were delicious! The vibe was dark and cozy perfect for a date and the seats for our table was a couch so we were able to cuddle close. Our server was Braxton and he was amazing such a great personality and he took excellent care of us. We couldn't have been happier!

Tiffany T.

Yelp
We actually drove an hour to New Hope so we could stock up on our favorite soap from Eight Hands Farm Merch. While there we decided to get a bite to eat somewhere and was luckily enough to get a table at The Salt House! It was our first time there but it won't be our last! My husband and I sat at a little table upstairs. If going again, I'd call ahead and ask for the table on the first floor. Or maybe go back in the fall and sit outside. Anyway, we shared the Brussel sprouts (sauce in the side b/c it was spicy). They were delicious! My husband had the celery and leek salad and added salmon, I had the beet salad and the short rib. Everything was very good. I've been to New Hope several times and I never knew this place was here! We'll be back for sure!! BTW, the table next to us got the burger and fries and it looked amazing. Also, our waitress was lovely.

Tim D.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service took forever. Way understaffed. While we were waiting for our food at least two separate parties got up and left because no one came to even give them a menu after they were seated. Felt bad for waiter/bar tender. He was doing the best he could. Nice outdoor patio but we would probably not go back.

Joe M.

Yelp
We had to sit outside but it was a beautiful night so we were happy! I loved my entree, Day Boat Scallops over Polenta with sautéed baby Spinach. Delicious and reasonably priced at $30. The cocktails were just OK.

Steve O.

Yelp
EVERYTHING, the folks, the food, the ambience, stopped in for lunch on a snowy day, it was great we went back for dinner!

Livia F.

Yelp
Interesting history, food was good, ordered mussels good but, different then I remember them. David the bartender was amazing handled the entire outside area, and bar area alone. Great job!!

Rob M.

Yelp
Being set in an old building from before the birth of the nation gives this restaurant a distinctive flavor. On entering, the bar was off to the right and well stocked and the fire at the back of the room drew us in. They have their specialty cocktail list on the back of the menu and a separate wine and beer menu to select a drink from. We went with three different draft beers. Mine was a German pils - very nice. Our entrees were delicious. My sister-in-law's salmon was the best she has had. She travels the world so has had it in a variety of locations. My brother's short rib was very tasty too. My linguini with a variety of shellfish was bathed in a rich sauce. I wish I didn't live 1,600 miles away! I would be back more often.

Sean W.

Yelp
Appetizers tuna and duck meatballs was good. Very slow service, 2nd beer did not arrive until main dish is fished. All the main dishes were cold. Braised short rib was dry and bland. Presentation was unappealing. Scallops were so small they were covered by the polenta. Definitely a tourist place good for a few pictures that's about it.

Jason L.

Yelp
We were fortunate enough to stumble on this gem. We went a month or so ago, on a random afternoon and had a great conversation with the bartender (We were the only ones there) . Very nice way to unwind in the soon to be late afternoon. We actually went back later that night for dinner and it was delicious! Wonderful day and night visiting this place. We will definitely be back.

David P.

Yelp
Awesome spot for food and drinks. Service was spot on. Staff was knowledgeable and patient with the pretentious customers that thought they were there too long..

Madelynn S.

Yelp
I made a reservation online and felt like I was punished by having us sit upstairs. The furniture is more than uncomfortable and every single group that came upstairs immediately complained about how uncomfortable it was. It is not a cocktail bar and should have proper seating if you're serving a full meal. As for food, they had a seafood sampler for $60 that included oysters, tuna tartare, and cervices. It all tasted amazing(especially some of the best oysters we have ever tasted), but we were extremely disappointed by the small size of the tartare compared to the table next to us that ordered just the tartare. You can quickly add up the prices of the three apps and tell that you're getting scammed by ordering the special. Next time we will just order the three apps separately. We also ordered the muscles di favola which had an amazing sauce and served with delish fries, but I would prefer bread because the sauce was that good. The tomato burrata salad was good and the burger was also fantastic served with the best garlic aioli. Our cocktails were delish besides for my second drink, the seedless in Seattle, which came very warm. For a $17 cocktail, that should never happen. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and it was absolutely delish, but just seemed to be thrown on the plate? And they don't serve tea or coffee, which feels bizarre. Overall, fantastic food but they are doing some very weird things.

Josh A.

Yelp
Had a late lunch with the Mrs on a Thursday afternoon. Funky dining room decor, olde English pub vibes, specializing in the leatherbound chairs your grandmother had at thanksgiving. Started with a Caesar salad (classic recipe) and a crostini with feta, truffle oil and honey. The baguette was sweet, savory and delicious, the Caesar was fine, but lacked some acid. On to the entrees, wifey had the salt house burger. Nice grill, and toppings. I had the wild boar bolognese. Rich, flavorful sauce, the boar not especially gamey. I'm always a sucker for homemade pasta as well. Nick, our server was prompt, and got us in and out quickly for a very pleasant linner.

Ami R.

Yelp
Shout out to our bartender, Jacqueline. We went on a busy Saturday night. She was on top of the drinks and service. This place is the epitome of cozy, historical, and happening. Drinks were flavorful and well made. We had the Brussels sprouts and crostini, both of which were great. The Mac and cheese was crispy and soft, sizzling on the skillet. The chicken piccante is a pass, sadly. The duck meatballs was heavy on the molasses. We will definitely return.

Dennis V.

Yelp
We were fortunate enough to get in with reservations today for lunch and as usual it was amazing. We started with the smoked haddock chowder which was exceptional. We both had the chilean sea bass as an entree and it was cooked perfectly with a nice sear on both sides. It was paired with Parmesan Risotto and nicely grilled asparagus. Chris and his team were inviting and incredibly hospitable. We can't wait to come back this holiday season!

Ken N.

Yelp
Unresponsive to phone calls and emails regarding reservation. Like nobody's home.very distressing.

Yelp
A humble, somewhat gothic gastropub located along a scenic waterfront view serving up lunch and inspired cocktails. Unlike a older gastropub, this restaurant serves up quality, small batch items that are well prepared and seasoned. The grilled artichokes are a great way to start off the meal, and if you find yourself here -- highly recommend the cheeseburger that seems to be a staple off their menu. The burger is super meaty, juicy, greasy, and everything you hope to find in a well cooked burger from a bar. Other dishes we didn't order but looked good were the chowders and pasta dishes that the other tables seemed to enjoy. Bartender was super friendly and was just the right amount of attentive and engaging to all patrons. Recommend this place if you are in the area and are looking for a tasty lunch and refreshing beverage before a walk by the Delaware. A little overpriced for the food and drinks you are served but this area seems very touristy and similar to NYC prices. ~15 dollars for a cocktail. Entrees at around $25~ - Street parking - Outdoor seating - Limited seating (takes reservations) - On the pricier side - Beer & cocktail menu

Yelp
They seated us next to a very loud table, Out of all the tables in there which were plentiful. We couldn't hear each other and we had to yell at the top of our voice in order to keep a conversation going. The drinks were horrible. The food came out cold when it was supposed to be hot. The bathroom was dirty and smelly. The place sucks.

Yelp
Came here for our last dinner while on vacation in the area and omg best burger ever. It was so good. What a nice place too, I just absolutely loved it. I love New hope. Ambiance was perfect, service was good.

Yelp
To jump right to the point, food was excellent. Although busy at dinner time on a gorgeous summer day they moved some tables around to accommodate us. It's casual but pleasant with flowering bushes planted here and there. We had the red snapper, scallops and chicken Milanese. Everything was very well prepared with just the right amount of seasoning to complement the protein. My wife loves scallops and is picky about them, she essentially licked her plate clean. The snapper was very flavorful and tender, the chicken was delicious and crisp. They have a good selection of craft beers on tap as well. Would gladly visit again!

Yelp
I'm not normally one to write reviews but I left this restaurant with such mixed emotions that I had to say something.  We put our name in and requested a table inside as it was getting pretty cold out, we just wanted to enjoy our meal, not speed eat to ensure it would still be warm.  We were told no, but I overheard the party behind us, who also did not have reservations, be given a choice of inside or out.  Whatever, I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it.  We figured as long as we got our orders in quickly, we'd get our food and be out of there before the sun went down.  Well, that didn't happen.  The service was remarkably slow, we were sitting outside in full scarves and gloves waiting for our food.  I once again begged the hostess to be moved inside, again told no but noticed that people sitting near us were being moved inside.  I begged a server, who wasn't even assigned to our table if we could also be moved as it was so uncomfortable to be outside, the temperature had dropped to about 42F by this point.   This wonderful person said yes, follow me, I can help you and we all marched inside carrying our meals, drinks and utensils to an upstairs dining area that was basically empty.  We were finally able to enjoy our meals and thaw out.  Where I experience the mixed emotions is that the food was amazing, the drinks were unique and quite good.  I would like to go back but the experience was rather awful overall.  Is it worth spending $200 to feel neglected and abused?  I don't so

Yelp
Great spot. Building is from 1751. It's a tight place but incredibly charming. Excellent cocktail list. We had the burgers and chicken sandwich. Both great. Fantastic service.

Yelp
What a unique spot. Ambience and music was on point. And the food was quite excellent. Something as simple as the bread being put on the fire, you could taste the natural smoke and char on the bread. The only thing, which wasn't negative about the food or service, but there was only one person serving that day. It was of course, Juneteenth, and the only server was African American. He was running up and down the stairs to the bar, kitchen, and outside patio. The busser was also a helpful Hispanic man, but it felt wrong that they had them working so hard that day and basically alone. Maybe people had called out, not sure, but we tipped them well. Also, there was also something super oily or soapy on the stairs. I nearly fell, so use caution. But, I still would recommend the place, just was not exactly what I was expecting. 5 stars for the ambience/area, 5 stars for the teamwork, and 5 stars for the meal.

Yelp
You might be too old if LCD Soundsystem is playing & u need a pen light to read menu. Luckily, I'm "young" old & enjoyed both food & atmosphere on 49th birthday. Cocktails: Beet The System had culinary ingenuity (loved the face smack of rosemary & frothy beet juice). Esther's Footsteps & Ye Old Fashioned were balanced (I wish less so LOL) & refreshing. Starters: Smoked Haddock Chowder, 1or 2 chunks whitefish strategically placed in sea of creamy potato chowder; very good. Bacon Wrapped Dates- Unbelievable! The quality of bacon (had to be Berkshire) made us feel like maybe we smoked herb beforehand ?? LOL A place where the Mains dazzle slightly less than the Apps, but still enjoyed a perfectly cooked, clean tasting, burger served w/ Belgian style fries. Portions & prices fair. Staff warm & chatty. Elephant in the room- $50 fee to hold table. Night of visit strong thunderstorms, dangerous wind, heavy rain at hour of reservation. Stressful to travel in those conditions or lose $50. No one wants anxiety on bday or before a meal. Yes, it's a small place & society has gotten inconsiderate in no-showing for tables. But it's still supposed to be the "HOSPITALITY" industry. Find another way. I believe it's costing u as much business as it's protecting.

Yelp
Get the burger! Super delicious and huge. Comes with crispy little fries that were excellent. This place was very cozy and had the perfect atmosphere for a cozy fall lunch place.

Yelp
Our recent dinner at this contemporary restaurant was good. They offer a nice selection of cocktails. I had the Round Trip to Paris, which was very tasty. We liked the paté champagne we ordered as an appetizer for two. The short ribs and steak frites we ordered as entrees were flavorful and the portion sizes were perfect, in my opinion. Our server, Johnny, was friendly and attentive. We would have prefered to sit downstairs but that area was full. Our only option was to sit upstairs, which I found very uncomfortable, We sat on a couch and dinner was served on a coffee table. It was dark!

Yelp
We visited on a recent trip to New Hope, and it was the perfect spot for a cozy lunch. Their drinks are inventive and strong, and the food was top-notch. We started with the cheese board and we're delighted by the quality of the cheese and meat. The accompaniments were thoughtful and delicious. Our meals were also very good - I had the crab cakes (wow!!) and they were delicate, flavorful, and the perfect mix of creamy and crunchy. One thing I noticed (which is not necessarily a negative for everyone) is that the space is very small and dark, and the second floor and restroom might not be accessible to folks with mobility issues.

Yelp
Service was abysmal for Wednesday afternoon. We were 2 of 4 people left at restaurant. All we ordered was two beers and a cheese board. Took waiter forever to come outside to take order, then 15 minutes later for the order to be delivered to table. The other couple got up, paid for their drinks and walked off in a huff since their food never came out. Just totally uncalled for all around! No apologies, nothing. How do you hire people that clearly want to do ANYTHING else but work there? It's not rocket science. What a bad reflection on the owners. Hire better staff please. There's enough good restaurants in New Hope to walk past this one.
