Having visited the restaurant many times since its opening, I would describe the early days as a dining experience, up there with some Michelin stared places that I have visited.|Recent visits have left me feeling that it no longer feels like an experience, instead a restaurant serving good food. |Dinner was extremely rushed, no rest between courses, even the topping up of the water and wine happening, at what felt like after every sip, making me think was to hurry us out the door and not what’s expected when paying a premium,|Back in the early days at the Salutation, guests were invited into the lounge to have a drink, read menus and be served canapés. coffee and petit fours were served after dinner (included in the price of the set menus) these days it’s straight to the table and the rush to get you back out the door begins.|The starter of scallops and octopus was amazing, and the beef main course (although on the small side) was also very good. I miss the option of the 5 or 7 course tasting menus, they used to offer, instead they do have a tasting menu centred solely around sea food, but no option for customers to read this as it’s dependent on daily catches, even if this menu was printed daily so the customer can see what they may wish to spend £105 would be a better option. Overall the food is still very good, but the experience let down by the speed of the service and the attention to detail missing.
