The Sand Dollar Downtown

I’m a big fan of the original Sand Dollar, but this location was a disappointment. The place was almost empty on a Friday night and just didn’t have the same lively vibe as other nearby bars. A friend and I each put in $20 to gamble, betting $1 a hand, and we ordered two shots for ourselves. I also offered to pay for two more shots for friends who weren’t gambling. When the bill came, we were charged for all four. I asked the bartender about comping at least two of them since we were playing, but she seemed unsure of the rules. She said she didn’t think “specialty shots” (like the $11 green tea shots we ordered) could be comped. That’s understandable, but what frustrated me was the lack of communication. Normally, bartenders will let you know upfront if a drink doesn’t qualify, so you can decide whether to order something else. Instead, we gambled our $20 each expecting two shots to be comped, only to end up paying nearly $90 for four shots. We weren’t even offered an alternative comp drink to make up for it, and after dropping off the shots, the bartender seemed to avoid us entirely. Overall, I’d recommend better training for the bartenders—not just on comp rules, but on clearly communicating them. Guests should never leave feeling confused or taken advantage of.

Fantastic bar to see live music downtown. Stop by if you are walking around Fremont Street and then go back. If you’re there for a band the view is great from everywhere. You need to go out to the casino restrooms as it’s common inside casino bars.

My recent visit to The Sand Dollar Downtown, located inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino, was an exercise in frustration and resulted in an absolutely dismal experience. My friend and I came in with the intention of ordering a couple of pizzas and filming a YouTube video. We informed the bartender of our plans, expecting at least a basic level of service. After we ordered our pizzas, the bartender never once offered us anything to drink, not even water. We had to go up to the bar ourselves to request water. This lack of basic attentiveness was just the beginning. Approximately 20 minutes after ordering, the bartender returned to inform us that our pizzas had been mistakenly given away to another table. She offered a quick apology and then simply walked away, leaving us to stew in disbelief. We waited another agonizing 20 minutes for our order to be rectified. While the pizzas themselves were decent once they finally arrived, the service was undeniably horrible. The bartender (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) made no effort to engage with us, offered zero conversation, and frankly seemed to have no interest in providing any sort of service. This was an epic fail from start to finish, and I can confidently say I will never return to The Sand Dollar Downtown.

Easy 5-Stars - Davey is the BEST!! We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Sand Dollar Lounge for our Labor Day event! Davey and his team went above and beyond to make everything seamless, welcoming, and worry-free. The venue itself is phenomenal – our guests absolutely LOVED the vibe they have created in that space. Working with Davey to plan our business event was a dream; he made the entire process simple and stress-free, which is priceless. Also, the reasonable drink prices (especially inside a casino) really add to the amazing atmosphere and the guest experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We host two events a year and can’t wait to be back at the Sand Dollar Lounge for our upcoming event. Thank you, Davey, for making our business event so memorable!

We had a blast for 80's night and the band was awesome. Small location but definitely good vibes.

We held our wedding reception here last week and, guys, it was such a great decision. When choosing a venue, we were looking for the following: - Somewhere within budget (obviously) - Easy for out-of-town guests to find - Free parking - Comfortable environment - Close to Fremont so guests could wander after Sand Dollar checked every single one of those boxes and then some. From the moment we got in touch with Davey, their GM, we knew we were in good hands. Being from Vegas, we know hospitality when we see it and he is the definition. Besides being attentive, thoughtful, and responsive throughout, he took so much off our plate by coordinating everything on the backend. It felt effortless. All we had to do was show up and party with our favorite people. We opted for an open bar and the bartenders, Savannah and Maria, were everything. With a group of around 30 - there was never a wait, they were able to make every drink under the sun, and were genuinely so kind to our guests. And the drink prices? A fraction of what other venues around Fremont quoted us. Foodwise, we ordered from Pop-Up Pizza - but I'm sure Davey could make anything happen. We had it set up buffet style so people could come and go throughout the evening. The food was served on time, received all the compliments, and when it was time to clean up, they handled it all. Only after we paid $3K for a photographer, did I remember to check and make sure she was allowed on site. Not only was she allowed, they recommended some great spots around the property to get shots. Sand Dollar and the Plaza are a photographer's dream. Sorry for the novel but if it helps one person decide to book their event here, worth it. Seriously, Sand Dollar team, you made our night and we can't thank you enough.

Idk if "bryce" is the female bartenders name or not but its what she gave me. Its 11pm on a Friday to give the manager context. But I dont want to judge this bar (used to be a favorite) based on this one individual so ill pertain it to her. In short, Ill NEVER come back to this location based solely on her. And that's disappointing. I usually bring about 20- 30 people here on average when friends play shows and that ended tonight. Not saying the tree is bad, but this one apple has me happy to never come back again. I hope tourists dont fall into the same bs.

Came here for the holiday decorations and how fun was it! Super cute and festive! The bartenders were all great and personable. Played some blackjack at the bar and had a few drinks. Would come back again!

A nice grunge/ rock craft beer tavern that was cozy and a nice escape from the losing of money in the Casino. I'm not much of a gamble but I do enjoy a crisp IPA with my lady. The bar staff was laid back and welcoming. A really cool spot

Pretty cool venue. Up close and personal front row seating, dance floor, booths or poker bar, couple pool tables. Friendly staff. Definitely return worthy!

Fun bar located inside The Plaza with a Beachbum Berry Sippin Santa Santa Pop Up. Great cocktails served by an excellent bartender Shajae was so friendly and nice. Plus she made a great old fashioned cocktail.

First time experience at the downtown LV version of the Sand Dollar...went for the livestream of night 2 of Phish at the Sphere...nice interior, modern vibe with a long bar adjacent to the stage area on one side and some pool tables on the other...didn't eat inside of the venue but did notice the pop up pizza place a short walk away inside of the casino. You can enter from either Main Street entrance or from inside of the Plaza casino floor, at least on this night which was very crowded..my only complaints were that they cut the concert off without showing the encore because they had a live band playing sometime after midnight, they couldn't have waited another 20 minutes or so and shown the finale?? Also, the drink prices were exorbitant for an off strip property, $60 for four beers, seemed a bit extreme in my opinion...since there was no cover for the show I'll take that in stride but if that is the everyday price then that is a bit much....anyway, could see returning in the future depending on the event taking place...slight recommendation

I had been to their original location but not this one yet. I will say it was difficult to find if you didn't know where it was and just put it into maps. The service was friendly and quick. The drink menu was being replaced so sadly they couldn't make any of their specialty cocktails but they made a kick ass Moscow mule for me. I look forward to returning again for live music and another drink off their new menu.

The ambiance was cool, the guys that were behind the bar were very quick and helpful with our orders and questions. Locals normally stay away from tourist spots but we will definitely be back here. The food choices were all great easy bar bites, we had pizzas, chicken fingers, fries!

Cool location inside the plaza. Dark music venue vibe, with a good bar. Saw Carvin Jones, the amazing bluesman here. They serve pop up pizza which was good, but came out late and not hot at all. No servers except at the bar was also very strange. Drinks were good though. Sound was great.

I came on January 4 and sadly enough the bar was empty, all holiday decorations were gone which was a total bummer because that's the best part about sand dollar. It was also empty when it came to crowd. It was before 10 so it was profitably early for this place however it's in the plaza so I expected people regardless. I didn't stay because their cocktail menu is not good enough for me to stay. I assume it's the same as the other location and I have never had a good cocktail from their originals list there. And you can get any other drink elsewhere too. Hope better next time I try...

I originally loved this place and decided I wanted to have my son's 21st bday there. I talked to one of the owners and he said he would take care of it. We talked about a band and booth seating and what not. I offered to pay in advance for the band. I asked how many bartenders were on shift. He said 2 on shift. I wanted to side tip them because 21yr old party. Yo full on fail. No band. No booth seating. Just bar. The bartender was snippy at best. Bro WTF

We came here for the Sippin Santa on Main and it's a very nice change from what it normally looks like. I would definitely recommend coming here over the other location just for how spacious this one is. Nothing wrong with the other location but can get really busy. The drinks featured are pretty good and had the Sippin Santa and Jingle Bird. Service was great and overall an enjoyable experience at the plaza. If you are coming here parking can be a little weird but make sure to validate.

Cool place. Great bar. Awesome staff. We came in for a crafted cocktail before going elsewhere for dinner. The beer list was so diverse I had that instead. We were going to come back after dinner, but we drank too much wine. We will come back next time we are in Vegas.

Dive bar atmosphere without judgemental regulars. Which are de riguer, but you're a tourist and would not have time to crack a genuine dive bar. Interesting taps and bottles, impressive liquor, great Muzak when there is no band and the bands rock when there is no Muzak. Food comes from the pizza joint "next door" in the Plaza casino. For me at least, perfect

OMG this new bar downtown is beautiful. The made from scratch cocktails are out of this world. Live bands every night with a dance floor . Have you ever seen. CHAMPAGNE vending machine????? So dam cool. I love it if you are visiting you must try this extension of a local staple since the 70's love love love

This new dive bar has a vintage classic Las Vegas feel. Things to know. The entrance is under the iconic plaza lights on Main Street. Parking is at The Plaza unless you're hanging out on Fremont Street.

The worst experience I ever had in an empty bar Saturday evening! We had dinner at the Oscar's restaurant and planed to see the evening show at the Plaza at the new Sand Dollar bar Downtown. We are patrons of the other location and we hoped to enjoy a good performance fir the evening. However, after I put $500 bucks in the machine and asked for a card, it was like hell. I asked the bartender why it takes so long and after 25 minutes, ( on the camera's timestamps) and on my phone, the woman bartender called her boyfriend, a sort of manager, who called the security! So my girlfriend is playing the money I put in the machine at the bar, the wooman bartender is rude and wants a tip, and the manager us upset with me, because he can't deliver on a membership card. No wonder the place us empty Saturday night.

Went to this location for the first time tonight. It wasn't very busy. The Christmas theme was cool and the hot buttered rum drink was good. Decor is not as over the top as the other location. Food took quite a while. Pizza was terrible, ordered chicken tenders, but got wings and they had no ranch. That last part should be illegal. Oh & they put our food on our friend's tab. I recommend the location at Spring Mtn & Polaris instead. Took a loooooong time to get a drink there last year, though.

We went on two occasions. The bar is good and the live band does enough justice to the enviornment. Prime time would be midnight to 1AM. The drinks menu is does justice as well, its a comfy place to down urself in couple of drinks with some nice music by the band and people dancing a bit around.

We stopped in for Christmas tiki drinks for the Sippin Santa pop up. The decorations were over the top amazing and the drinks were delicious. We received excellent customer service from the bar staff.

Came to this location twice. Once to have a drink and once for a free concert after my festival was canceled. Special thanks to the owner for allowing senses Fail, Thursday and Bayside to perform here. Having your festival get cancelled sucked so bad but being able to see these bands perform in such a great setting was amazing. It salvaged our trip to Vegas. Drinks were solid and fairly priced. Has pool tables and the best thing ever pbr and champagne dispensing machines. Never saw anything like that before. Bartenders were friendly and did a great job handling the crowd for the concert. Very impressed and it was a smooth show despite having to host some very disappointed fans of 5he canceled festival. Definitely would go back here and it's a bonus to have this attached to the Plaza.

Great drink, music, atmosphere & service. It's busy cocktail bat serving free live music constantly. Bar team is super professional and totally gives a sh!t about your drink so try the signatures or order a classic, either way is a win. Follow them on social to keep up with bands as it changing all the time.

The Sand Dollar Downtown in Las Vegas is a great place to go for drinks, food, and music. I have been impressed with everything that they have available here and the atmosphere. Good experience every time I have been here.

I've been going to the original sand dollar lounge for years...countless nights of entertainment from bands to burlesque (they should bring the burlesque downtown) to wild parking lot events. I'm always impressed by the creativity put into the cocktails and menus. Anyways.....now this crew opened up another Sand Dollar in the Plaza hotel downtown!!! Bringing this vibe even closer to where I live! An easy Uber ride up and back. When I arrived it felt like being in the old space..In a great way, but quickly the impressive booths and stage made me realize this was next level. I'm excited about what shows could take place in here and have already picked a few prime spots to watch. Cocktails are of course on point and the bar offers something for everyone. Great job to the crew for the work done. I'll be back soon!! Side note: parking prices seemed to be an issue but I've heard the plaza has opened up some spaces for people going to the bar.

We've been waiting months for this location to open. It's finally here!!!! Love the Spring Mountain location and this one is just as good. Slightly different vibe, a little more modern but still inviting. Service was great and bartenders were friendly and attentive. If you get a chance check this location out.

What an amazing location old school downtown with a charm of the most amazing blues and rock n roll bar. First off if you like fresh air and clean water their cocktail, beer and music program is bar none the best in the city, thank me later !!' Thank you for making downtown your home. I can't get enough and love every detail about the space. See you again very soon !

Surprising large space for a live music venue downtown. The bartenders are top notch and drink prices are more than reasonable.

Been here for 4 hours, haven't left cause service been fantastic. Bartender Lee been very knowledgeable with drinks and personable. Food been very good as well. Highly recommend this place. Band just got here. Pretty cool spot.

Came for a free event. Could not control the line. People cutting the whole time. Security even encouraged cutting. Had a capacity of 350 but did not notify the huge line. Waited for 4 hours and were told we were under the limit to get to the front and get stuck out side for hours with no info from the staff. We understood not all of us would have got in. However If they gave even the tiniest amount of effort to notify us we might not or won't I wouldn't have left this review. There was no communication at all and they obviously did not care.!

Tonight around 11 pm to I go to gamble at Sand Dollar three machines are shut down pet bar tender They are outside smoking per bar tenderThey return and do not play machine that they closed down.

Sand Dollar is the last dive bar in town great music all the time and great staff working there new location down town also at the plaza casino and resort

This is the best cocktail bar I have ever been to. It has such a cool vibe. Great cocktails and fun live music. Doesn't feel like you are inside a casino. Just a fun spot for a great night. Friendly service ! And don't miss out on the pizza.

Great spot in the downtown area! Live music every night, no cover. Cocktails are fantastic , Peyote Queen is a must try! Staff is friendly and they've done a beautiful job with the setup, from the art work to the lighting it's spot on !

Would love to give them 5 stars. Great space, Great stage, Great sound but it takes FOREVER to get a drink! Wait staff way below par!! My the end of the night the service improved! Thank you Sand Dollar for making our 14th anniversary fun!

We have frequented the Spring Mountain lounge and thought we'd check out downtown lounge located in Plaza. New place is very nice. Easy to get to from parking garage. Take your parking ticket in and barkeep will validate for you. Staff is very friendly. Same great drink options here. Nice new feel to place. Stage area is larger with more seating options. Another great place to listen to live music. We'll definitely return!

Adorable spot and the best part? No smoking in the bar. Pool tables, live music, a champagne and beer vending machine. I'll be back.

Bartenders are not friendly, they all have a bitch attitude. Totally unfriendly, must be mgmt is pushing them too hard. Resting Bitch face on all the bartenders. Angry is the attitude.Never seen anything like it . Not coming back!

Downtown is lucky to have the newly opened Sand Dollar. We have been going to the original Sand Dollar for years (it's still open and cranking ) ! This top-notch cocktail bar - along with a stellar selection of brews is off the hook!
