My recent visit to The Sand Dollar Downtown, located inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino, was an exercise in frustration and resulted in an absolutely dismal experience. My friend and I came in with the intention of ordering a couple of pizzas and filming a YouTube video. We informed the bartender of our plans, expecting at least a basic level of service.
After we ordered our pizzas, the bartender never once offered us anything to drink, not even water. We had to go up to the bar ourselves to request water. This lack of basic attentiveness was just the beginning.
Approximately 20 minutes after ordering, the bartender returned to inform us that our pizzas had been mistakenly given away to another table. She offered a quick apology and then simply walked away, leaving us to stew in disbelief. We waited another agonizing 20 minutes for our order to be rectified.
While the pizzas themselves were decent once they finally arrived, the service was undeniably horrible. The bartender (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) made no effort to engage with us, offered zero conversation, and frankly seemed to have no interest in providing any sort of service. This was an epic fail from start to finish, and I can confidently say I will never return to The Sand Dollar Downtown.
