I love a good sammich, so figured I'd give this place a shot. One shot was plenty. The sandwich was ok. Nothing wrong with it. Not among the best I've had, and not among the worst. Solidly acceptable in quality. But holy crap was it expensive. $22!!! Way more expensive than it should have been. I thought the prices were high when I got it, but for a a great sandwich, I'd gladly pay it. But not for just an acceptable one. Plus, the buns are narrow/skinny, so it looks like a lot of meat in the pictures, but it's just an illusion. It's a regular amount of meat, just on a skinnier bun.
And then the chilli. I mean, it's chilli. How do you mess it up? Well, one way is by using the greasiest meat you can find. There was so much oil in it that I could bearely taste anything besides the oil. Barely any spiciness either, but that's fine, because chilli doesn't have to be super spicy. I never hold that against it. But this stuff wasn't spicy, super oily, and barely tasted of anything at all. For the amount of chilli, I think $6 was an everage price, but for the quality I got, I wouldn't have even taken a free bowl
A large hoagie and a cup of chilli was almost $30. Insanity. I could have gotten a nice steak dinner at a decent steakhouse for that much. I could have gotten a full rack of out of this world ribs, with sides, for that much. If you love their food, then by all means support them. And if you've never been there, give it a try. maybe they make everything just the way you like it. But for me... it was a disappointing waste of money and I will definitely not be going back. I hate disappointing food, but I hate it even more when I pay a lot for it.
