Jeff & Yan may be the kindest restaurant owners I've ever met. This was my first time into this establishment & they couldn't have been more helpful. I was met with a smile & a "Welcome! How are you?" by Jeff , along side his wife, Yan. I told them I was a new patron & Jeff immediately explained the menu to me & what they offered. Jeff asked what I had a taste for & proceeded to name off the sandwiches on the menu that correlated with what I wanted which I definitely appreciated! They offer over 30 sandwiches so it's extremely helpful when someone can number down the options to something according to your taste.
After his few suggestions, I ended up going with number 31. The Angry Bird. Which consist of: Hot Pastrami, Marinated Chicken, Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese & Psycho Sauce. It was a bit too salty for me. All the meats I love but together, they make a very salt forward combination - it needs something acidic to balance it out & tie everything together.
Since they have so many sandwiches, I won't allow this one combination deter me from trying the 36 other sandwiches. I will definitely return & review the other sandwiches I try. The kindness from Jeff & Yan is really a reason in itself to come back to this spot!
My only 'negative' would be the price of the Sandwhich. I've lived in California for 5 years & had a sandwich at a similar place called 'Ike's Love & Sandwiches' with the same exact concept. Their prices are the same, $14-$17 for a sub. It's a bit pricey when you can go elsewhere for a decent sandwich for cheaper. The Sandwhich Spot may want to look at changing their prices according to where they are not where the flagship restaurant happened to be. I personally don't mind paying that price but it may turn people away from returning again.
