"This smart, intimate restaurant is set at the front of a long-standing, family-run hotel, which comes with a jewel of a terrace and commanding views of the bay. Colourful, modern dishes make use of seasonal ingredients, with a focus on local seafood. There’s a great 6-course tasting menu – with wine matches available – and service is warm and friendly." - Michelin Inspector

Baffled by the unprofessional Fawlty Towers type experience. ||Visited the Cove Restaurant with friends to celebrate a special birthday, based on the incredible sea-view and a previous positive experience. Although my birthday was acknowledged by the waitress nothing was offered (eg little cake/chocolate/dessert etc). ||On arrival we were shown to an interior table, despite having requested a window one when booking. Fortunately we were able to swop. ||We were warned that power had not long been restored and food service might be slower. That was not an issue, but we struggled to even order drinks. When we finally placed an order the wine we wanted, a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (overpriced at £44), was not even available. Its substitute was not chilled properly. Later, we were only able to order one 250ml glass as they had totally ran out of ALL Sauvignon Blanc. ||Food wise, when I enquired about ordering the lobster I was told that it, and 2 other dishes, were unavailable. The food we ordered was decent, although the sea-bass did not come with any form of potato. Surprisingly new potatoes were unavailable to order as a side dish. ||Overall a disappointing experience and despite the view, we will not be rushing back, even for a drink.

As the other reviews stated it’s all about the view It’s incredible. We stayed three nights for my daughter’s wedding. We paid £675 for a sea-view room apparently that was discounted for wedding guests. To say the room was compact is polite. It was also very tired needed a repaint. Walls were badly marked in the room itself and the bathroom. We had to inform on two occasions about the shower tray overflowing not by just a little it completely soaked the bathroom floor. The second visit from someone did seem to fix the problems but two days of a flooded bathroom not good. Also Informed reception the French doors didn’t fit correctly as there was a gale force wind blowing in. No apology just that’s the east wind for you. |Definitely not worth the money to stay here. It’s all great paying for a view but you’d like feel to comfortable in the rooms also. I totally agree with another comment all money seems to be thrown at the wedding venue.|Would return for a drink at the hotel purely for the view but would definitely not stay again and wouldn’t recommend an overpriced basic room ! Oh and on a final note they don’t accept any cash what so ever in bar or restaurants!

My daughter got married here a few weeks ago and we had the best day ever. It was a big wedding with elderly parents and a toddler so we were stressed about the whole affair. But Sammie and the whole team were absolutely amazing. They made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the day. It really was a magical day and we can’t thank you enough.

Food was excellent with plenty of gluten free options. Dogs are allowed outside on the terrace and in the bar (although you don't get any views from the bar), service was great. Excellent value for money and Doombar on draft so the other half was very happy. Would highly recommend and will be back!

We had another fabulous stay here. Just three nights but it was so relaxing. The food was amazing and the views stunning. We knew about the hotel as My daughter booked this venue for her wedding in November last year and it was faultless. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. We will be back again soon. Location is great to explore North Devon.

We popped into Sandy Cove, just looking for a drink and a bite to eat. Apart from an amazing view that is unparalleled, we had our drink and ordered something from the well-priced menu. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. There was a minor problem with our food . . .I mean really low-key . . . but we got on eating as it was tasty and good quality. Whilst we started eating - the manager came up to our table, having spotted the small issue and before we said a word, stated he would fix the issue, as that wasn't what he expected to be served. As far as I am concerned that is the height of good quality service, and we are definitely going back.
