Sardine Can Review - Gastown - Vancouver - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a place where you can sit very close to someone, share food, and feel really taken care of, Sardine Can is one of the best spots. The tapas are the best in the city and while the space is sardine-can-like in size, it’s well worth the wait. Order the garlic prawns before you even sit down, and make sure to ask for lots of bread - you’ll need it to sop up the oil they come in that they could put on stale cornflakes and we’d still be excited about. You can also eat a lot of things out of cans - try the sardines, scallops, octopus, and squid on toast while you talk to the staff about their great selection of Spanish wine." - Shelley Mason

The food is alright. It's a basic seafood, soup, and sandwich place. American menu. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's not a very big place but plenty of seating when not busy. A view of the harbor is nice. Indoor and outdoor tables.

I was in the area for work and decided to drop in for dinner. Very glad that I did! I ordered the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoned batter and a bowl of clam chowder. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the batter was wonderfully light, crisp, and flavorful. It was accompanied by some of the best tasting tartar sauce I've tasted, too. The clam chowder unfortunately didn't have many clams, but it was nearing the last hour of open business for them when I stopped in, so it gets a free pass. Still tasted great regardless. All in all, the food is good, the service is great, and it's a nice cozy place to relax. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again!

We came late, 1/2 hour before close, which could be why there were almost no clams in my clam chowder, which by the way had _far_ too much sage and way too little clam flavor. It has been better in years past. I used to love it but I guess when you come at the end of the night you get the dregs, or you get sage soup instead of clam chowder. My sauteed seafood on rice pelaugh was tasty the rice pelaugh was very well done. There was a delicious piece of white fish in it, and the prawns were fresh and delicious. My mom enjoyed her Scallop's scampy but it in no way was scampy as there was not a garlic white wine butter sauce it was an oily puddle without garlic. Still though she enjoyed it. Although it has been a few years since we were at the Sardine Can, it has been a place I've loved for the past 15 years. We'll go again but I'll stick to my old staples there of fried seafood and I will lose my old staple of the chowder.

We had the combo rice pilaf, fish n chips and the crab sandwich. I had the rice pilaf combo and I didn't like it. It was a lot of food but it was lacking in flavor. I didn't eat it. My hubby shared his fish and chips and that has been the best fish and chips I've had in a delicious! It was light and crispy but not oily and had great flavor. I also tried a couple of bites of the crab sandwich and it was so delicous! The service was great and friendly. I'm only giving it 3 stars because I didn't like my dish.

Somehow this was my first time here since I happened to be in the area. Can't believe I've been missing out on this spot. The food is very good, the people working there are nice, and you get a great view of the water.

We enjoyed this marina restaurant. We sat inside with a better view. The food was great. Fish galore. I had a spinach salad. Hubby had fish and chips. Lovely atmosphere. Recommend and would go again. Moderately priced. Kobe burgers I think.

Was told to sit anywhere. Waited 10 minutes and no one came with me us or a drink order. As I was walking out, the waitress said, "I was just bringing you a menu." Vut she had none in her hand. I left and had a great meal elsewhere.

Google
Food is retro. Service is amazing and friendly. View is unbeatable. A classic spot, even though the prices are out of control. $32 seafood Louie salad w bay shrimp and crab. 6 years ago it was $20.95 so that's a full 50% increase.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times, but today's visit was the best! Came here on a Monday early afternoon. It wasn't busy at all, which we loved. And I also love how lowkey it is. Servers are friendly. Food came out fresh. I ordered the crab melt with fries. My mom got the tuna melt with coleslaw. Both sandwiches on sourdough. They were yummy and crispy. The coleslaw wasn't all that. I wouldn't order it again. My toddler enjoyed fish sticks with a cup of fruit. Everything was delightful from the vibes to the views of the ocean. There's plenty of seating inside and outside.

Yelp
Looking for a hidden gem spot to have one of the best Bloody Mary's in the East Bay by the water before heading to the Niner game? Look no further than Sardine Can. A whole-in-the-wall type of spot that's no frills, but gets the job done. We take a Niner bus to the games from the East Bay with a stop in Vallejo. Because the bus leaves so early, we are always on the hunt for an early spot we can have a pre-game and a solid breakfast. Sardine Can never disappoints. The Bloody Mary comes with crisp bacon, and everything I've ever ordered here is solid: buttery hash browns, fluffy pancakes, juicy sausage, hearty breakfast sandwiches, fresh eggs, and strong coffee. Love the servers, a real "when you're here, you're family" type joint. Won't break the bank before a big weekend outing, and just the spot to also breathe in a little bit of the Vallejo waterfront breeze. Already looking forward to the next Sunday Funday!

Yelp
Awesome place and the ambiance is very chill and comfortable. My favorite dish here is the fish and chips. I love how the fish has so much meat and less breading. By far one of thee best fish and chips in Vallejo. The fish was so tender and juicy! Also, they have one of the best Bloody Mary drinks out here. The bacon was very thick and the drink didn't taste just straight alcohol it was very delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. It's a great hidden gem nestled behind a dead end road close to Mare Island.

Yelp
Hands down, THEE BEST Clam Chowder in the Bay Area! A Thick, Creamy, Savory, bite in each spoonful. Loaded wth with chunks of potatoes and delicious chunks of clams. The servers are always kind and engaging, though at busy times you need to bring patience. Going later in the morning or afternoon's usually work out best, especially if you have time constraints. Hubby and I love to sit on the deck when the weather is nice, but a river view table is fun too! So if you're looking for a fun little spot for breakfast or lunch that pumps out consistently delicious food? You must visit The Sardine Can!

Yelp
This is our main place to come when visiting my parents in Vallejo. It's near the water although doesn't have much of a view. The atmosphere is casual and there is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. They have good burgers and sandwiches. Their jambalaya is great although very seafood forward. My favorite thing on the menu is their Gumbo. It has amazing flavor with the perfect spice. I'm not usually a fan of Texas toast but it definitely works in this case. Service is always nice and efficient. They have only one bathroom, so that can be a slight challenge if it's busy. Overall, we like the place enough to keep coming back regularly.

Yelp
First off this place has probably around longer than I. The location is iconic to any local. I believe it's changed ownership several times or at least a few. I stopped by to reminisce on the scenery and the food isn't bad but I'll give you a honest review of my experience. It does get crowded so my hostess wat spot on to try and make sure everyone is taken care of. My fish was well cooked. The batter was crispy but the slaw was pretty soggy with zero flavor. ‍. Overall it's still a nice place to eat and don't get me wrong I've had other things here that was pretty good. The slaw was just not so good
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful location overlooking Mare island bridge, next to the water and yachts. You can dine outside with fresh air or inside where the window view is next to the water. Decent prices on soup and some seafood, some I find pricey but interesting to try next time. We ordered a gumbo and a soup and sandwich combo: I had clam chowder and a BLT. Food is good but not comparable to Sam's Chowder House is still my number one. Plenty of parking space, quiet area not much people on a weekday 4pm, you will also see people walking near the water. Location is away from the main road or highway, I agree that it is a hodden gem that you will not find it if you will not look for it.

Yelp
I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered except the Alfredo :/ I definitely recommend this place the. Clam chowder is my favorite the jambalaya is delicious the fish and chips the burgers and garlic fries .. definitely Vallejo's hidden gem ..

Yelp
I normally don't dine this far from home but our friend lives in Sacramento so we had to compromise. I reviewed their menu the night before and decided on the crab sandwich. It's a simple restaurant with the nice view of the water. My sandwich was actually good, better than others I've tried. My friends had the vegan burger and fish and potato salad. The weather was great for our get together with good food. Would I come back? No, it's too far for me. Sorry.

Yelp
Drive to the end of the road until you see the coast guard gate. The Sardine Can parking is to the left. They closed at 9 pm on Saturday night. They no longer have Sunday Jazz. We walked in and grabbed a table. There were a few seated inside. Cioppino is a tomato base stew with prawns, crab, Bay shrimp, clams, scallops, and cod. Is it the best I've ever had? No, but it's under $25 with great service, free parking, and cold beer. The seafood was a little over cooked but not terrible. The avocado salad was just right for a light bite. The lunch sandwiches look tasty so I'll be back. When traffic is impossible, this is a nice stop or worth the trip in general.

Yelp
Ambiance is casual and super chill. If you sit indoors you get a lovely view of the marina; if you dine outdoors you don't get much of the view but the seating is comfortable enough and it was such a gorgeous day. We opted to dine inside though because mom wanted to enjoy the view. Service was great--quick and friendly despite being busy for Mother's Day (we did arrive at 11:30am though, highly recommend arriving early for anywhere on a main holiday). Ordered fried calamari appetizer and my dad who normally HATES calamari ate EVERY piece, yes including the tentacles which he normally abhors anywhere else. In his own words, "It doesn't taste or smell fishy and the batter is so light, fluffy and flavorful." The server mentioned that everything on the menu is home made, including the Cole slaw sauce! The fried oysters aren't on the lunch menu but the server allowed us to order it even though it's only on the dinner menu. They're HUGE and super juicy, and just like the fried calamari served along with delicious homemade cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Super filling, so be sure to arrive hungry! This sounds insane but we also shared a bowl of clam chowder served in a bread bowl. It's totally doable since it's served on a silver tray to contain any type of mess. We devoured that thing until NO TRACE was left. True story. That was just for starters, shared by 4 out of 5 people in our party (my sister doesn't eat seafood). For our entrees: Mom - crab Louie salad which was also a large serving so she split it with me. A hefty portion REAL crab meat, too, complete with eggs, tomatoes, carrots...so fresh and yum. Homemade Thousand Island Dressing, too! At $32 it was pricey but oh-so worth it! Dad & me: split the battered fish combo (fish was was cod). There were 4 large pieces served with fries plus your choice of a side dish, which dad opted for the coleslaw. The fries were basic but good, the fish--so fluffy, meaty and filling that I could only eat one piece! Sis: Turkey, avocado and Swiss sandwich. She doesn't eat red meat so she gave the bacon to me and our dad. She finished it so I suppose she liked it! Bro-in-law: ordered the battered prawns (6-8 pieces?) combo with the same sides as Dad. The server mentioned that the Cole slaw was also homemade, including the sauce/dressing. He enjoyed it but like dad and I had eaten too much of the appetizers. The meal was overall satisfying and a steal at approx $180+ including a 20% tip. Not bad for a mainly seafood lunch for 5 people! For everyone's convenience I took photos of the menu today since I noticed the prices were different from what was displayed online. Hope this helps!

Yelp
I used to come for breakfast frequently when my sailboat was docked nearby. And I loved the live jazz on Sundays. I haven't been here in over 8 years. It looks exactly the same! Our server Kayla was very sweet & accommodating. My daughter and I had a salad- we feel it was overpriced ($18) and pretty basic. We asked if there was still live music on Sundays and were told no. That's a shame as I would come back here for drinks & Jazz.

Patricia P.

Yelp
I went there yesterday for lunch with a group. I had expected 8 or 9 people, but 15 showed up. The staff accommodated us - they moved tables around, created separate checks for the individuals in the group, took pictures of us, and got food out to all of us promptly. The food was very tasty. It was a great experience.

Yelp
I love the location and the vibe of this place. It feels like a Vallejo secret. I believe they have the best fish and chips in town. Full bar is nice and a view of the water is kinda cool. The service is always friendly. My most favorite thing here are the deep fried mushrooms. So yum!

Yelp
I have eaten here once before and I don't remember being impressed by it so we didn't go back for a long time. My friend suggested we go there while we were walking this week so we did. I don't know what I was thinking the first time around. We got the breakfast skillet with toast and we shared it and it was plenty of food for both of us. The crazy thing is the prices. They got like early 2000 prices. Their skillet was like 13 bucks. Momo's charges almost $20 for an omelette so we were really surprised at how reasonably priced everything was. This isn't a fancy spot or a place to have parties. It's just a little hole in the wall with friendly servers and great food. You should go check them out. Better yet you should go walk the marina and then check them out. They are worth the visit.

Yelp
Excellent service from staff! Get the onion rings and jumbo prawn platter! Calamari was okay... Classic mixed drinks
google avatar

Waynetta M.

Yelp
This is a little restaurant the food was ok nothing memorable... but kind of pricey. We had the Cioppino & fish and chips. The Bloody Mary not pictured was the highlight lol Couple things, this is at the waterfront way out the way. We didn't need a reservation and we sat next to the window. I did enjoy the fact that this wasn't a chain restaurant. I will give it another try
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, good service and good prices. Always a bit busy. My granddaughters loved the mermaids.

Yelp
Best fish and chips in vallejo hands down. I've tried all restaurants in vallejo these cod peices are the best and fresh.

Yelp
Beautiful location and one of the hidden gems to eat at the Vallejo Waterfront. Located at the side closer to Mare Island is the Sardine Can. I really enjoy their crab sandwich from here, they have a wide variety of options from soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and a full bar. They have seating both inside and outside, facing the water and the front. Their crab sandwich is my go to, I wanted to be a little healthier and got it with fruit instead of French fries. They have a lot of seafood specialties, pastas, and jambalaya. I think I've had their jambalaya before but I'd want to try more of their seafood items in the future. Service is great, such a nice spot to watch the sunset in Vallejo by the water.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going here since my friend's Grandma brought me here when I was a kid as thanks for helping her buy a Toyota Corolla at the dealer. Place is a little dirty but the food tastes great. I usually have the new york steak. The cut of the meat isn't the fanciest but they cook it very well. Breakfast is good too.
google avatar

Nancy G.

Yelp
The waiter was the nicest. Very attentive. Loved that you can see the water while enjoying lunch. I ordered a crab sandwich and a mermaid kiss.
google avatar

Angela F.

Yelp
I grew up in Vallejo, but I've truthfully only eaten here twice. The first time was maybe 10-15 years ago, and I can't recall how it was. But, I ate here last weekend with my dad who has been a faithful patron for decades. At lunch, I ordered the grilled cheese and a cup of chili. The chili was very standard diner chili, piled high with shredded cheddar. As for the grilled cheese, wow, what a treat! I think it had 3 types of cheese, and included a crust of grilled parmesan on the outside of the bread. My dad was craving "the sailboat" which is a grilled turkey sandwich, and it looked really good I must admit.

Yelp
Ok we live for trying new places and this falls into that category. Drove from Pinole to try it out and came away somewhat mixed but def on the good side. Don't expect a linen napkin because this is comfy blue collar kinda place that serves great food at a good price. The crab salad/cocktail that I had was fresh and a fair quantity of crab over lettuce served with some spicy cocktail sauce, oh yah! lol. Along with their Paradise ice tea think Long Island but with pineapple instead of cola. Non drinkers beware because it'll getcha before you realize it! She ordered the wedge salad which was fresh and cold and topped with plenty of blue cheese dressing along with a generous amount of bacon bits. And we Did not need to ask for more dressing! Thats a win in my book. I ordered the Momo's Bolognese and it was stellar. Pappardelle pasta with a meaty, saucy, sorta spicy sauce which I loved and will return just for that. She was like meh. But it was all mine anyways so more for me lol. It also came with sliced toasted bread which I was able to soak the extra sauce into. So for me it was a total win experience no really for her so I'll have to drag my wife back so that I can get that pasta again!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Ok my buddy took me to this place for dinner. It was so cool they had live music and food was good had good beer on tap. Place is little small but with a big Ambience staff so nice. It's right next to the water. So if your around the area stop in and give it a try. Cheers
google avatar

Yelp
Went to the Sardine Can for lunch today and had the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. I have to say that this was the most delicious meal I've had. I have loved everything I've ordered here, but this Chowder Bread Bowl with a side salad was the most delicious of all. I will surely order it again. I couldn't stop raving about that meal. Our server, Amber, was the greatest. She made sure that we were well taken care of. I loved her personality. The atmosphere there is quiet and peaceful. It is very hard to find a place of dining with such a wonderful admosphere.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
This is going to be a simple review, the staff are accommodating and pleasant, the food is very good although the fish isn't always the freshest which you can tell by the stronger than normal strong fishy taste which isn't good but my main complaint is the prices, way to expensive and they definitely need to do something about the prices on the à la carte prices, extremely high for what you get!

Yelp
Wow where do I start? Before we even talk about food I have to mention the flies! Yes insects, FLIES!!! I personally counted at least 30 flies in this restaurant! Due to this it changed my opinion on what I ordered. I ordered no fresh food like salads for myself even though some in the restaurant did! I mean there were so many flies one of the customers had 4 on his back! (Side note: Scientific fact! Do you know every time a fly lands on something it defecates! Yes even your food. It's feces has thousands of parasites!) Back to the food! I ordered fried fish and shrimp and chips. I'm a cook! The fish tasted like it was on the verge of expiring. It had a slight ammonia smell! Also, the shrimp and fish both tasted like they came out of a frozen bag. Why? Well, frozen seafood that's cooked taste rubbery. The fries or chips as people say in America were soft, not crunchy. In all, needless to say I don't think I'll ever return to this place anytime in the future! I believe if a new owner took over this restaurant that was passionate about the quality of their food, this restaurant would have an epic change. Why? Well it's in a beautiful location! It's almost as if the restaurant is crying out for help! "Someone please buy me and fix me up, because these current owners and staff have ruined and run me into the ground!" By the way, the tables were dirty! The staff was dressed as if they frozen out of the late 80s early 90's. The staff and the place have potential. It was just simply a terrible experience at the Sardine Can. Their food needs to go back in the can! Something Gordon Ramsey would say! You can tell the owners lost interest, don't care and maybe given up! Well, on to my next restaurant!!!
google avatar

Marian S.

Yelp
Good service. Fish and Chips cooked well. Clam chowder had a different flavor than I'm used to. I would go again.

Lorraine R.

Yelp
We sat outside on a beautiful day. I ordered a calamari sandwich. It was impossible to eat. The calamari kept on slipping out of the roll. I ended up eating the it with a knife and fork. The service was great. The waitress was very attentive and not intrusive. I wish I had asked her name. Would go back just wouldn't order the calamari sandwich.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
I love the shrimp and fries, the shrimp is very meaty. The tartar sauce is the best reminds me of home every time I drive past Vallejo, I stopped there and pick up a meal for the road. I've eaten inside a couple of times services on the spot and the place is always clean
google avatar

Reggie A.

Yelp
We came around 640p and just ordered a sandwich and clam chowder. They were kind of busy but we waited almost an hour and asked if our food was ready. We end up just cancelling our order. On our way out there was a TO GO on the counter. They said if was ours but we said we didn't want it anymore. They insist we take the sandwich, when we were outside, waitress wanted the food back. So awkward they gave it and then took it back. this is as the 2nd time. So maybe that's it for us with Sardine Can
google avatar

Elaine H.

Yelp
Nice hole in the wall type place right on the water at the marina. Food was good-service was good. We were there for lunch. Next time we'll try breakfast as I suspect it's a better breakfast type place. Can't beat the view though.

Mark G.

Yelp
Food, service and ambulance are spectacular. Old fashioned hardwood secured on a steady pier near the ocean. Great variety on the menu. Food is very tasty.
google avatar

S H.

Yelp
Been meaning to post for a while remembered when a friend asked for suggestions- Always great food and great service my favorite is the cioppino, it could have been the crab sandwich but I cut back on cheese, and the fish and chips are awesome, there even is a plant based burger with avocado and mushrooms if you want vegan style.
google avatar

Teresa B.

Yelp
My husband and I were out for appointments and decided to grab breakfast. We hadn't been to the sardine can in a while and were on that side of town. It was 11:30 . We sat down and immediately ordered coffee. The server took a while to bring us our menus. Or our coffee. We probably should have just left. After her 3rd or 4th time passing us she finally brought the menus and said, "sorry the coffee is taking so long, I just put on a new pot". They were lunch menus, not what we had come in for, but we decided to stay. I got the crab melt sandwich. My husband got a patty melt, and a French onion soup. I tasted his soup and it was awful. So salty! My sandwich was pretty good, but I would have ordered something other than coffee to go with it. Service was lacking, and that soup was disgusting. Our bad for not checking the breakfast hours before sitting down. Breakfast or lunch, there are many other better spots to go to in Vallejo.
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
As a Vallejo native, I've been coming here for years! The staff is always friendly and the food is always made fresh to order. Being at the water front, you definitely get the sailor feel when stepping into this restaurant. I love to request deck seats when the sun is out. My favorite thing to order is the crab sandwich and fries. PRO TIP: add apple butter to your sandwich #ChefsKiss
google avatar

Frank D.

Yelp
At their outdoor deck, I had a very fresh shrimp louie with a cup of tasty clam chowder. Service was exceptional. They had taken absolutely great care of the two fur babies (they both had a burger paddy each). There are not many locations where you can take your pet.
google avatar

Cyn T.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in quite a while. We sat outside and ordered the zucchini and mushroom appetizer, the fish and chips and the chicken sesame salad. After consuming two pieces of the zucchini and mushrooms my stomach began to rumble. I ate a bit of the salad then had to order a Sprite to see if my stomach would calm down. I felt like I was going to vomit. I slowly sipped a bit more of the Sprite as I asked for to-go boxes. I didn't want to make a scene or anything. I just wanted to leave. My stomach didn't feel better right away. I called the restaurant after I left to ask what kind of oil they used to fry their foods in. They said 'olive oil'. I didn't know that was a good fry oil. Either way, the service was great! The lady in the pink tshirt was very kind. Maybe this was an off day and perhaps I can try again in the future.
google avatar

Cherol O.

Yelp
We eat here frequently, but our last visit really missed the mark. It may have been an off day . Here are my recommendations: 1. If you order soup, ask if it is thick or broth. Because the bean soup is thicker than chili. 2. If you like your burger cooked a certain way you will need to ask for it or it will be well done and dry.

Lara J.

Yelp
Lovely family owned restaurant, great food , at the marina. I love the salmon with rice and vegetables, garlic bread, Breakfasts and fresh fruit, lunches , shrimp stuffed avocado . Full bar menu . Beautiful marina views.

AnaLeesa W.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday thinking it would be dead, but to my surprise there was steady business!! Even though they were slightly busy, our food came out quickly & deliciously We ordered clam strips which are always my fave! Braised short ribs were on special so I ordered & was not disappointed!! My man had the gumbo which he always gets from here & it was just as good as any other time! Our waitress was very nice & on top of her game. Keep it up Sardine Can, see you again soon
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Normally, the Sardine Can is a nice place, but I won't be back, for a while. They have outdoor seating, and they let me choose a nice spot. Fifteen minutes passed, and no one came to check on me. I wasn't in the mood, for any issues, so I just left and ate somewhere else.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
So good! My calamari was amazing. I would ask for the appetizers' menu because it's not included in the regular menu. Which is kinda confusing, but whatever. Waitress was slow but very kind and helpful. Cute spot! Would recommend
google avatar

Crystal T.

Yelp
This location is a bit hard to find. Once you turn onto Harbor, the restaurant is located on the left side in the end of the street. For the dog owners, this is a dog friendly restaurant, however, they will only allow you to dine outdoors with your dog. We were able to seat ourselves. The waitress sat us in the corner because we had our pet with us. I ordered the Seafood Rice Pilaf Sauté with a side of clam chowder. My son ordered the grilled cheese sandwich. The pilaf was okay and it was enough food to share with my son. My son gave the grilled cheese sandwich a rating of 10 out of 1-10, which means, the grilled cheese sandwich is delicious. As far as the service, our waitress was friendly. No complaints at all. Overall a nice restaurant to eat if you want to dine outdoors. This was my first time here so I can't really say the food is delicious, however, the dish I ordered was pretty good. Will definitely return.

Jessicca G.

Yelp
Sardine can became a hit or miss on my book. I love the outside seating. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. It's basically the food, meals became overpriced here and some of the food was really not up to par. I gave chances came in a morning had breakfast with my husband I didn't care too much for it. We had a lunch although my fries were great my fish was soggy

Yelp
5 Stars in the category of Casual/Throwback! Have only been for lunch but love the Fish & Chips, Potato Salad, and big lunch salad options. Love the ocean view from the little dining room. Love the low-key yet attentive service. Easy, dependable and delicious!

Yelp
We were having a party of 55 people for our companies 20th anniversary. We were spending the day at Six Flags but we were looking for a place to have breakfast before heading to the park. I am so grateful that I found the Sardine Can. I worked with the owner, Mary, and we were able to rent out the entire restaurant on a Sunday morning from 8:00 to 10:30 am for a set price for 55 people. Sorry to any patrons who tried to come by to eat and the restaurant was closed. To make it easier we offered 4 plates that I had my employees pick out their choices a week prior to coming. When we arrived, Marna and Nadia were our servers. They took care of everything and were great to work with. The food was delicious and hot and the coffee was the best! They do have some delicious items on their menu, so please if you are in the area check them out! Thank you ladies for making our day very special!

Yelp
Very basic menu and mediocre food. Nothing impressive about the food or overall dining experience. The only good things are there's no wait on Saturday mornings and the view is nice. And of course, that they are a small business in Vallejo. But this place can use some improvement. The coffee definitely could use some improvement. Maybe some fresh, locally roasted coffee would be nice - something good to entice customers. This place could be a really cute (and more popular) breakfast & brunch spot if the coffee, the food & menu options were stepped up a few notches. Maybe lunch is better?
