Started with the clam chowder that tasted more like wild rice soup, clams were chewy. Cheeseburger was cooked as requested, salt pepper and maybe some paprika, good size burger. miso Glazed steelhead, tender cooked perfectly. Breaded fried oysters and fries, not overly breaded, some tender, some chewy. Sat by their pizza oven- best seat next to outside.

I wanted to love this place, but we did not have the luck of a "regular" night. The place was packed and you could tell the service was overwhelmed. The seafood appetizers we got were delicious! Sadly our entries were BAD. I had the worse cook on a steak, it was as if they forgot to flip it and completely underseasoned to top it off 🥺 I had read great things, so this was a bummer. My sister's burger was similar, under seasoned and dry.

A nice place to dine on the Coast. We sat out on the patio area, which had propane patio heaters that kept us cozy. We split a cup of clam chowder. Yummy! Fish and chips were tasty, as was the shrimp Po Boy sandwich. A bit pricey, if you are looking for a casual place to eat on the Coast.

Love this local gem! Service is always great and they have a good variety of fresh seafood, local beers, and a few vegetarian options. Beautiful views on a sunny day! Highly recommend.

This restaurant is located in an absolutely stunning spot with breathtaking ocean views. The food was delicious, especially the baked oysters – highly recommend! The Smoky Old Fashioned cocktail was sooo good. The crab cake wasn’t really my favorite, but I wanted to try it – I guess it’s just not my dish. We came here two evenings in a row, and it was totally worth it.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time. We had oysters on the half rack for a starter, drinks, and an order of fish and chips apiece. Delicious food overall! The cod was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I would say the only thing that took away from the food was the soft fries. I recognize, however, that fry texture is preference based. So I'm sure others would love them.

The Schooner is a true coastal gem. The staff are friendly and attentive, the views are stunning, and the food quality is exceptional. Everything we had was fantastic. The oysters were so fresh we watched them get delivered. The wood fired veggie pizza had a crisp, flavorful crust that paired perfectly with the arugula. The crab cake is a must; packed with generous chunks of crab and full of flavor. The local greens salad was also a hit, especially with fresh crab added on top. And the platters? They rocked! It’s a little tucked away, but worth the detour. If you’re anywhere near Netarts, make the stop. You won’t regret it!

This was crazy. We spent around 170 dollars for 1 drink each and 3 apps. At the end we ordered a crab mac to go. Drinks were amazing, didn't taste much of the alcohol but that's fine. Our three apps were oysters in a half shell, calamari, and clams. Unfortunately each of them were underwhelming. The oysters were milky, creamy, and not cleaned proper. The calamari seemed under done but like it was sitting under the heat lamp for too long. The clams had raw whole garlic cloves in the white wine sauce? Like what? We don't come here often, but when we do, we typically order the crab mac. We thought it might just be a rough night or maybe that they are training new people. We decided to get the crab mac to go. Well we just got back to the place we are staying and we looked and tried it and realized they didn't even put the cheese sauce in.... So we paid 36 dollars for buttered noodles with crab. It was very disappointing as we used to like this place and this was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner.

Fantastic location on the water with a big covered outdoor seating area that is heated when it's cold out. Also has indoor seating. Excellent menu with options for everyone. We had all kinds of dietary restrictions in our group and everyone had a satisfying experience. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. And they seemed to be well staffed for the busy summer crowds. The only thing I found less than impressive was their clam chowder. It was flavorless, gloppy and lukewarm. Given the seafood themed menu they deserve to have a better chowder.

Our family had a delightful birthday lunch! Carrie even took our decorations inside before the place opened and set them up at our table. We realized the booth was too small for our party of six, so the staff moved us to a corner booth--much more comfortable. If reserving a table for more than four people, ask for the corner booth. Everyone loved their food--my crab mac 'n' cheese was DELICIOUS (SOOOO much crab!) and my partner really enjoyed the shrimp & grits. We were allowed to bring our own birthday cake, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere is bright/airy in the restaurant, while the bar/lounge is cozier (both with a lovely view of the bay). The metal fish sculptures outside are set in a concrete wall with oyster shells--very pretty! And the fish were sculpted/welded by a server's (Carrie) father! We've been here before during Happy Hour/dinner time and it can get PACKED, but this visit was at noon on a drizzly Saturday, and it wasn't so busy yet. We highly recommendThe Schooner!

Service: The service was okay when we first walked in. They greeted us, gave us the menu, asked us if we would wanna start off with a drink. The food came soon after, he came and checked on us. When we finished our food, it took him like 30 mins to get us a box, get the bill. The whole time the other servers were not busy. Food: pizza was terrible! It's chewy/tough, no depth, no red sauce. It's worse than frozen pizza. Half shell oysters were okay, but they didn't clean it well, there are shells in half of the oysters I had. Ambiance: it's okay, nothing too special about it.

Don't tell anyone how great this little hideaway of a restaurant is! They use fresh, locally grown produce and seafood, have great drinks and a covered porch that will protect even in the most vigorous OR storms. We love sitting outside with a hot tray of oysters, watching the clouds at sunset. Cannot be beat. Remember, it's our little secret! PS they do seasonal multi-course tastings, pairing amazing food with local wines - get in one if you can. Spots go fast. Absolutely loved the time we went.

This restaurant is amazing!! I definitely recommend sitting on the outdoor deck. Service was friendly and the food delicious!

Exceptional seafood meal @ The Schooner on Netarts Bay, OR. !! Hostess was unfriendly, but our waitress was outstanding. Restaurant itself had great booths inside. Many patrons enjoyed dining on the outside patio as well. All of our food, as seen in pictures, was delicious!! We ate every morsel, with the exception of the packaged oyster crackers. I would recommend catching a meal here if you're in the area, but come between peak meal hours, as it gets extremely busy. Unless you drive into Tillamook, there's not many options around, so people in vacation homes with big parties can add to longer wait times.

Excellent locally sourced seafood and greens. Amazing clam chowder. Oysters rockyoki was OMG good and super fresh. The greens tasted like they had been picked that morning. Great service and ambiance. Definitely recommend.

This place deserves more than 3 stars, people! The location is immediately off the bay, so you have great views. The staff are friendly and it has a VERY local vibe. The food is great! I had the oysters rockoyaki for an appetizer. It comes out in a piping hot skillet with hot rocks keeping the oysters warm. The dish had great flavor, sort of similar to a dynamite dish you would get at a sushi restaurant (only comparing the flavors), but has a lot more garlic and spice. I had the steelhead for the entree. It was fresh and cooked to perfection. It came with a large portion of roasted vegetables. I almost went back a second night but really wanted to try another restaurant nearby.

We had a fantastic time here. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, my husband got the Calamari salad. Both meals were excellent and the Cadillac Margaritas were the best we've ever had. We sat on the nice patio and even though it was in the 40's it was very warm and cozy. What made it the perfect experience was our server Dustin. What a fun and sweet young man, he really made our night. We definitely will be going back when we are in town.

Sadly, our food was pretty terrible. Out of our party of 5, only one of us were happy. The rest of us left full plates behind. The staff did ask what they could have done better and I declined to answer because, honestly, there was a long list. They need a new chef, period.

Food was fine. We sat outside the view is nice. Not a sesaood fan I had pizza. My wife is a fan and enjoyed her steamer clams. Service was good friendly staff and the food did not take long to get to the table. Price is in yhe 20 to 30 dollar a plate range. I would go there again for sure.

The cutest spot with the most AMAZING FOOD. We sat on the patio outside, they had a fire table that was nice and warm. Very quiet outside and cozy. Covered by rain and most of the wind too. Our server Tenisha was so sweet and checked on us regularly even though we were the only ones on the patio. And the FOOD. Was some of the best I've ever had. We got the steak and steelhead, both dishes were as beautiful as they were delicious. The drinks were picture perfect and so good, and the dessert was fantastic. 10/10. We will be back soon!

Great food and service. This is our second time in Oregon, and both times we visited this place. Has excellent res of the ocean.

As a native Oregonian, this is the best restaurants I've been to on the Oregon Coast. Everything was very flavorful, fresh and well-cooked. My friends and I got the clam chowder, friend oyster and chips, steamer clams with sausage, shrimp and grits, crab. The drinks were great, too! I had a bloody mary that was huge and delicious! We ended our meal with an amazing baklava cheesecake. The service was great, as well! Will definitely be coming back!

Fresh seafood, excellent service, great atmosphere. Calamari salad was unique and delicious, lightly battered and dressed, heavy on greens. This is the place to go if you want experience the freshest seafood imaginable with a beautiful setting. Loved the dessert! Local brews and tasty mixed drinks! Would recommend to anyone visiting Netarts who wants an unforgettable experience. 5 stars!

Decided to stop by for a drink and a bite after some beach combing. We can were greeted and seated right away. We sat in the bar area (huge) and it was a laid back vibe. The menu had a lot of variety, so we started off with the cod dip. Also ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips. We needed something to wash it all down, so of course, we had to get the margarita and espresso cocktail for that. I came not expecting too much but the food was great and service was attentive. She didn't even write down our order and nailed it every time. Best part about the service? She was able to split our bill 4 ways which never happens in Portland. We'll def stop by again when we're nearby!

Would not recommend. The pizza we ordered was one of the worst tasting pizza I've had eating out and for the price we expected better. The oysters we ordered had broken shells that had to be picked out and again we expected better for the price. The staff seemed more interested in gossip and standing around chatting then helping us. We had to wait for around twenty minutes to get anyone's attention after we were done eating. For the price this places charges we feel there are way better options.

What a hidden gem' Came to Schooners last minute on a birthday trip with 8 friends! It was busy but they were still able to accommodate a large party last minute. With superior and kind service. The cocktails were strong and refreshing! Some of the best food I've had in a while / my compliments to the chef! The Claw Chowder, Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp & Grits, Pepperoni Pizza with pineapple and jalapeño, Oysters, and Fish and Chips - my goodness! Absolutely delicious: flavorful, good quality ingredients, and hearty. The Crab Mac needed a little seasoning for me - but a great portion of crab in the dish. Thanks for a great meal!

The Schooner has such a great outside view, the food is delicious and the workers are very kind. All of the food is great, The calamari is lightly fried and perfectly crispy. Our favorite was the Calamari Salad, the dressing is sweet and spicy! Make sure to make a reservation it gets full quickly.

Fantastic GF and regular fish and chips. The tartar sauce is outstanding. The coleslaw is a little bland unfortunately. The only reason it's not 5 star is because you only get two pieces of fish and it's $20...

The Schooner is a gem at the Oregon Coast cooking food right. When we're at the coast, we make it a point to stop by before heading back to Portland. We tend to end our weekend at the Schooner. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. Our favorites are the Oysters Rokoyaki and the General's chicken wings(Dragon's breath spice level). The oysters are so flavorful! We always take a batch of chicken wings to go and warm them up in our air fryer for lunch the next day. Their wood fire pizzas are delicious as well. They have a full bar and lottery games in the back of the bar. Their outdoor patio is a great place to be a sunny day, looking out at the bay. Even on a cold day they have outside heaters. Highly recommend!

Pretty good food in a beautiful setting on the Bay. We were greeted quickly at the door and opted to sit outside to enjoy the great view. We ordered a cup of clam chowder and a half-dozen raw oysters as an appetizer. The clam chowder was really good, but the oysters were disappointing. They were the smallest I have seen on the coast, which wasn't a good value for the price. My wife had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed her dinner. I had the crab mac and cheese which was a nice dish. It could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was good. Both portions were a fair size and filled us up. Service was friendly and efficient during the dinner. This is a nice place to have a meal and relax.

Visited The Schooner twice within the last 6 weeks (drove in from Portland). First time, food was pretty good- maybe not world class but decent. Second time, yesterday (Sunday before Independence Day), food and service were the epitome of mediocrity. Not planning to make this a very long review but let me give examples. Ordered a full dozen of oysters ($44, which is kind of inflated, but fine considering location so close to the ocean). Oysters were great the first time, during Memorial weekend; nicely shucked, well arranged, clean, arrived fast, polite attentive service by our male server. We even got extra sauces and those mandatory small forks for the oysters. During yesterday's fiasco, the oysters hadn't been washed at all (dirt / sand / goo was left on our fingers after holding, and that felt careless, really unpleasant); oysters were just randomly slapped onto badly laid out wet ice, with some oysters not even horizontal and this much of their natural juices had already flowed out of the half shell... we ate first oysters, all of us started spitting sharp pieces of shell that were broken off and left on top of the oysters.. we spent some time spitting, trying to remove sharp shells out of our mouths. Took some pix to show you... Also, oysters were not as fresh as the first time, some felt like starting to develop bitter "chemically" flavor, which happens when oyster is already aging after harvesting. Another thing I wanted to comment on is the service. We all know that service can either make or break a restaurant! The Schooner's service is like a textbook illustration of that... I mentioned that young male server who assisted us the first time. He was really good! But.. actually, he was a substitute for a lady with ponytail, who was clearly "too busy" to help us... we waited at least 25min for her to make time for our table, and only then, the male server took over and saved the day (saved their face). Well, guess what? Second visit, we again got seated at a table assigned to that same lady. And, guess what (again)? She walked by a few times, saw we were seated, and ignored us for a long while. I saw her chat with the ladies at the front, who usher people... also she had forgotten to write the wine to our order, so another colleague of hers ended up helping us get some wine. One last thing. At least two of our water glasses had pink lipstick residue on the edges, so because of this, we ended up not drinking any water at all. I wiped all the utensils to make sure they are as clean as possible before eating... Anyway, the whole time during our experience at The Schooner, our family felt amazed that these guys are even able to survive; perhaps what keeps them afloat is their magical location (walking distance to the beautiful Netarts landing / bay...) plus there is little to no competition in the area. So technically The Schooner doesn't need to really try harder to maintain a great consistent experience- they are already pretty desirable and maybe most visitors will try to turn a blind eye to the screaming imperfections, and just look at the bay and enjoy the pint of beer (hopefully in a glass with no lipstick). I wasn't even sure if I should say anything. I am far from any desire to affect a local business negatively. But then, since I paid almost $240 for bad service and a dozen oysters with sharp shell bits in them (good thing we didn't swallow), and some other goodies that were fairly decent... maybe it's still a good idea for me to mention my impressions as experienced foodie, in case if this business does actually care to read reviews from patrons... of course, this can only work if the business representative reading this is somebody other than that lady with the ponytail. I don't want any of your staff to be "in trouble", but I do want them to experience some personal / professional growth and get better in what they do. I will even be happy to remove my honest review if I receive a message from the business assuring me that they will train their servers and chefs (and that shucker who didn't wash oysters and left sharp pieces of shell in them for us to ingest!!!) and help them learn and improve. Let's raise the bar, the quality of Oregon's restaurant scene. We are an amazing state. Let's match our immense natural beauty with culinary beauty & service excellence.

We were staying nearby and had a recommendation for the pizza here. We had brought some fresh tomatoes and peppers from our garden so we got a cheese pizza. It was delicious! Hand pulled dough, great sauce and carefully cooked in their wood fired oven. Although I think the seafood is the main attraction here, the waitress said the pizza, burgers and wings are great. The pizza is for sure. Edit: We went back and had another great experience. We had a calamari appetizer, burger, and steelhead sandwich. Everything was delicious. Our server was efficient and nice. Price was high-ish but reasonable.

I really enjoyed this place....it has a great menu, the service was excellent and most important, great food. The bartender served me a great IPA and I had clams with sausage...tiny tasty clams with sausage in the clam. It was wonderful...the pizza looked amazing too. I don't get why there are only three stars on Yelp?

What a great stop! We were staying at the Cape Lookout campground and wanted to wander up the coast to find a good place to find some seafood. We thought we were going to have to head all the way to Tillamook and came across the Schooner first. I got the Steelhead sandwich and it was absolutely divine! Perfection all around, paired with a local Willamette pinot noir and a heated patio video of the sea, I couldn't have asked for a better spot. My hubs got the fish and chips and found it to be equally as impressive. Usually fish and chips leans on the greasy side, but these ones were just perfect, crisp and crunchy in all the right areas, and the fries are so good! We were also impressed with the drink list, from hot buttered rum to local beers and wines, I can't wait to dry more of the menu some day.

We were in the area for our first getaway since Covid started and we're definitely long overdue! We made a reservation and were seated right away. Our waitress was sweet and helpful as we had a few questions. We loved watching the pizzas go in and out of the oven while we waited for our food. We really enjoyed the local wine and oyster shooters to start. I got the tillamook crab Mac & cheese and he got the steak. We were both very satisfied with our meal and had really great service, despite them being super busy. We were so pleased with our experience that we came back for lunch the next day! We had to try one of those pizzas. Our server was the only server and was super busy, but we were still well taken care of between him and the folks running food out. I loved the winter squash! We'd try a different pizza next time, though, the meatball one just tasted entirely like green peppers. Not bad, just not our preference. A little bit spendy but we are on our first vacation in a long time so we were happy to splurge. Thanks for a great meal!

Locally sourced food cooked with great skill. Friendly waitstaff. Location and outside decks are awesome. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is loud hard rock music playing, which was great for the cooks but not suitable for the diners. We will be coming back.

This place is amazing! Wonderful food and service. I can't believe it is only rated 3 stars. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.

Packed house the evening of Jan. 2nd. I felt so bad for the waitress/bartender but, she held her own. She made me a delightful extra dirty martini. I could only wish for more help for her, it took about 40 min to get out food order in. The wait was worth it. I ate the best local, steak I have ever had in my life. Juicy, flavorful & tender. It was so good I tried to thank the chef but he was on a break.

We decided to have dinner here after a busy day on the coast. Let me start by saying ambiance and staff are great! If you wanted to go just for a drink this will be a nice place to go. We had the Steamers and Oysters Nakotori? The clams were old and chewy and Oysters were ok, not great. Prices are high as well. Thus the rating. The staff really tries to please- can't change the food though. Again a great place to watch the sun set with a drink.

We did not have a reservation, but were seated with 30 minutes. Our sever was attentive & the appetizers & dinner we ordered were tasty. We sat on the covered area, which was a bit chilly as there was not a heater close.

So sad!! Use to be a great spot. It's changed. Prices are definitely higher, but the real fact is food isn't as good. I'd pay for good food. I'm so sad. This has been a super spot for us. It's like they want to be something they aren't. This location and Resturant/bar have always been very good. I came as a child for eggs and razors. I'm now 60! Been a customer for years. Help can be crabby, but we got use to it. Food isn't good anymore and the Brussels sprouts $24 for nothing. Seriously if they had garlic bacon Parmesan I'd pay. It was like a small and I mean small bowl of boiled Brussels sprouts and some were raw. Not even hot. Maybe 6 whole cut in half for $24.00, plain! Breaks my heart. Don't be what you aren't. Don't try to hard. Simple is always key. I have no words. Disappointed. Revise! Stop trying to be what you are not! Stay with what you know! :) I hope it gets better.

Nice atmosphere, good attentive service, very tasty clam chowder and excellent fish and chips, all proudly locally sourced. We really like this place.

For a restaurant on Netarts Bay, with such a great view ... we had really high hopes for this place. First thing (not really restaurantrelated but a need to know)....the parking lot in front is a day use area and parking for the boat ramp. We saw sheriff's circling there so if you park, make sure you pay. On the plus side. We arrived in the end of rush dinner time on Saturday. We were seated immediately on their great outside patio. Unfortunately, that's where the pluses stop. A server greeted us within a few minutes and told us we'd need to use the QR code to scan the menu. I fumbled for 5 minutes and finally figured it out. Noone checked on us to make sure we knew how to get the menu up or not. I could have used some water or a margarita. Noone bothered to ask. Close to 20 Minutes went by before she came to take our drink order. Even though we were ready to order, she just ran off to get tea and sangria. The wait for the drinks was excessive. The wait for food once we ordered was excessive bordering on ridiculous shine the dinner crowd had left. The bussing station four feet from our table with bussing bins and liquid dripping on the floor ...... not appealing. It wasn't all bad. Their clam dip ....OMG I agree that was the best I have ever had. And interestingly enough, served with beet chips. (If we had spotted there the freebie might be better.) My husband ordered the Pecos Bill Burger because nothing else on the menu appealed to him. Why would a place in Netarts, on the bay, on the Oregon coast not have more seafood choices? Oysters on the half shell. Crab Mac and cheese. Sturgeon. No halibut, steak, oysters served esy, ther than in a half shell. No crab other than loaded with carbs in a Mac dish. I had fish and chips, because how can you need that up? Uhhhh....well ..... the batter was so grainy, and it was cod that didn't taste fresh at all. Not to mention barely warm. I couldn't eat any of it. And the desert menu was so limited. I get that restaurants are struggling to pick up after the pandemic. This one sppears to be having a tough balancing act. Sadly, despite the fantastic view and the great patio to watch it from, we won't be back.

got seated waited 24 min for a server to bring a menu. had to ask for one and watched the same two servers get three other tables water, drinks and food before I was asked for water or a drink. Sat for another 5 min waiting then had enough and waited 12 min to cash out a video poker ticket. Feel like we were overlooked as mid 30 year olds. dressed nice have plenty of money and have been coming here for years use to live here. not coming back. Lead server asking to take orders after making me wait to cash out ticket. unorganized as hell I'm pissed

I'm glad to see this venue still open through the pandemic. Business was good - but not crazy considering it's a holiday week. I love sitting on the deck with our semi-social dog. Service and presentation are some of the best in the area. On this trip, we sampled a few ales and ordered an adult strawberry lemonade. We started with the salmon dip. Fresh made chips, including beet chips! Yum. The dip was yummy and topped with roe. Then we split an order of fish and chips. We had plans to order more food, but we were full. Good thing we are in the area again because there are many options on the menu to try! They will be changing their hours this week, so call first!

Ate dinner here, had the clam chowder and the fish and chips. The entire meal was delicious! Our server Tenesha was was delightful. Great atmosphere great food and the service was awesome. I'm definitely coming back! Thanks

This place use to be a "must go" for my family if we were staying anywhere between Pacific City & Oceanside. Unfortunately it just doesn't hold up anymore. Our last 3 visits, the clam chowder was blah, service is pretty crappy & the rest of the food is just okay. The ambiance is still pretty good.

We made quick reservations over the phone for dinner for 4 while staying in Oceanside. The food and drink options are unique, local, and tasty. Outside seating was spacious and waitstaff was so attentive! Pictured is the best dish of our night, the shrimp and grits!

Bartenders were amazing. Very balanced , flavorful drinks. Food was perfect only added Tabasco on my chowder. Will be back sooner than later.

Stopped in for lunch while touring the area. Very large parking area available. Seating is available both indoors and outdoors (with very effective heaters hanging above). Establishment is practicing current covid restrictions. We decided on the Dungeness crab mac and cheese ($28), and the ling cod fish and chips ($22) for lunch. The mac and cheese was so yummy, they use Tillamook medium cheddar and aged white cheddar cheeses, plus a decent portion of crab. The cod was cooked nicely; however, they were pretty greasy for my taste...left my fingers dripping with grease. The fries were good too, and not greasy at all. We were both happy with our meals, but felt the prices were a little steep for what you get. Overall a nice experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. Would recommend if in the area.

The Schooner is a good option if you are looking for a sit down with a water view. I have been coming here for years, and while there are limited options, The Schooner is one of the fancier and better options. They have a good assortment of pizzas, seafood, burgers, and more. Have fire pits on the patio, and a bar area as well. The food is good. The only reason I am giving 3 stars, is because they are priced like a 4 star restaurant, when I think they fare not quite up to that par. Regardless a solid option, just a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Just had the worst service that I have ever experienced in a restaurant. As a bonus the poor service was wrapped in a thick layer of condescension. The clam chowder wasn't that good, either. A can of Progresso would have been better and $15 cheaper.

We had dinner here tonight. Great service, great food, great bar! Sausage steamers were fabulous. Fish and chips tasty. Sangria was tasty also but needed to be pre-chilled. We will be making it a point to come here again for sure! They went out of their way to make sure they got the food to us while it was piping hot and took care of every detail. Great job, team!
