I had a great experience with Nancy. She did highlights and colouring for me. I also got her to style my hair for an event. Both times the results were great. Pricing here is much lower than other salons. However, also expect less services (you won’t get tea and massage like what other places offer). This place is about efficiency and results (quick in and out). I can’t speak to other staff though. Years ago my partner got a haircut here and got some cuts on his head…)

Totally ruined my hair! I use to go to this place for highlight and Nancy was my hairstylist, I liked how she done colours and highlights. This Sunday I called and asked if Nancy is in, they said, yes I can come in. When I came, I found that Nancy is not working this weekend. But the other lady said that she can take me and they have the records which colour Nancy used. I showed her a photo and explained how I want my hair done. I specifically grew my roots for 6 month to have nice highlights. After spending few hours I got terrible bleached, yellow brassy head with red-yellow-brown patches on my roots, the length of my hair is totally bleached and ruined I even don’t know how to heal it now. I don’t know how I would correct it and how to go to work a with my hair. I have to wear pony tail and probably a hat.

Other than the gentleman, the owner, knows what he’s doing all the other ladies do not know how to properly give haircuts. Even though it was a $16 cut it doesn’t mean there are no requirements. First this was not what I asked for, second the side are not straight. Anyways cut it yourself or go to Crystal mall. It’s $13 and they do a much better job!!!!

Update (March 12, 2025) I am updating my Google review because I am truly appreciative of the response I received after my complaint. Tim is currently in China and unable to access to respond to Google reviews but his wife Cathy saw, and immediately reached out to me. She listened, validated our experience, and expressed both remorse and dismay at what happened this past weekend. She and Tim were both saddened about the haircuts and the treatment and wanted to make things right. They offered a refund and a free haircut by Tim specifically, because he really wanted to fix this. A lot of businesses and customer service especially are tanking these days because everything has become so transactional. To have a business owner circle back and take the negative feedback seriously and offer to make it right is a big deal. I am updating my review to reflect this positive experience and, so long as Tim is around, we will definitely be back. As for the staff, I am told they will be re-trained in both skills and customer service so that they are in line with the level of care and service Tim expects. Thank you Tim and Cathy! — A super frustrating salon to deal with. The only person who can give a decent haircut to our sons and my husband is the owner, Tim, and he’s not always there. Whenever we go, and he’s not in, we gamble with how it’ll come out. They have screwed it up in the past and we have been patient and understanding but this is last time. I’m livid and I’m making this negative review until Tim calls us to apologise and makes this right. This is his salon, he’s responsible for his stylists and he should know that the experience is very negative when he’s away. We are loyal customers for years now and come for haircuts every 2-3 months for the boys and it’s frustrating to have a 50/50 chance of whether it’ll come out good or not. My toddler has an undercut bowl cut that I didn’t ask for and completely uneven hair. And the salon tried to tell me it’s not a big deal? I mean… Tim if you’re seeing this: look at all the other people who have complained just in the last few weeks alone about how no one in your salon can cut hair/is listening to customers. You need to fix this, people won’t come back.

A great hair salon! I’ve been coming here for many years. The hairstylists are very friendly, the prices are good, and the skills are excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you feel at home. Especially Nancy—she has been providing me with dedicated service for years, and I’m always very satisfied with the results．

Soha is amazing! I was long overdue for a trim of my super long hair and knew I needed a lot taken off for it to feel healthy. She really took the time to ask what I wanted and explained what she felt would look nice before cutting. Very happy with the results! I haven’t let anyone other than my regular stylist touch my hair in almost 20 years, but I think I have found my new go-to!

Definitely wouldn’t recommend the asian lady literally took my skin off from the back of my head and the there was cuts all over my head which took 2-3 weeks to heal maybe the blade needed to be changed or something but I literally had a scar along the whole hairline

I'm never coming back, Tim's teacher said she'd make my hair long I'm fucking bald I'm never taking a haircut from Tim's teacher again. Tim knows how to cut unlike the teacher, 1 stars do better.

this place is not it if you want a good hair cut. people here just do what THEY want, even if you show them a pic of what you want and I'm wondering if they are even certified

The worse cut I have ever had. Never again. Also to note, the men kind of overtake the women in the salon to get the "job". I didn't like that at all. ZERO STARS RATING IF I COUD DO IT.

I went in for a cut and I was very happy with the style Jenny did. The salon is clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The price was very, very reasonable.

There were a man and a woman working here. The woman who cut my hair did it quickly and very well. I trusted her to figure the best way to give me a fade, which I'd never really had done before, and it came out very nicely. Price was super cheap, $16.50. My cousin has longer hair and got his cut for $20 and he feels good about his cut too. It was mid-afternoon on a Friday, so given that there were only 2 hairdressers the wait was 40 to 60 minutes. I believe that a good haircut is worth a wait that long, though, so it was fine by me.

I needed a haircut and live near scissors . I thought I'd call and take a chance , Tim did a fantastic job , he did what needed to be done . He cut a huge amount off and it is the best hat cut I've had since 2019 lol . I'll be going back for sure it's affordable fast and finally I have decent haircut

First time there. I live in the area so I figure to just come pay a visit knowing I'm only after a hair cut anyways. What could go wrong right? With so many options, I made sure it read reviews before coming. I would say they have so-so review so I was scared booking an appointment. But again, hair cut only I wasn't too worried. They're busy. Everyone that came is a walk in. Something for sure I wasn't used to because I'm used to booking an appointment and having service at that time. So definitely expect to wait even if you've booked an appointment. Haircut for women is $20. I was charged extra $15 for having my hair straightened after the cut. I loved my hair cut. I'm not so used to having a lot of layers but it was something that was done in this session. The guy still listened to me and what I wanted. Respected my expected length and also putting his skills to play. Love how light my hair feels again! I won't be back for a long time as I usually get my hair cut every 6-8 months. But I'll definitely be back. I'll add though, after my hair was cut I was asked if I wanted to get my hair washed but since I went there with almost went hair from just showering I declined. To me, I find it odd when a stylist ask that because I felt dismissed but regardless I wasn't going to anyways, however I personally think it would be part of the process (wash hair before or after cut). I opted to hair straightened after the cut which was charged. Over all good experience. don't bother making convos because they're busy people and just wanna focus on your hair, do a good job, and send you off hopefully happy. I'm overall happy I didn't go through hell or anything opposed to the reviews below. I'm happy with me hair. :)

Our entire family of 5 has been cutting our hair at The Scissors for over 10 years - Tim is a very talented hair stylist and it's very affordable too. Definitely recommend an appointment before hand as it can get busy.

The cut was overall ok and lady's cut was cheap ($20) but I did not have a pleasant customer experience what-so-ever. I can't say this for all the employees at this salon but the lady that cut my hair was rough af. Though she was super polite, I was elbowed in the head a couple times, she roughly combed over my cartilage piercing which caused the hoop to come out, and she pushed my head forward as she was trying to comb down. The worst part was when she was trying to comb through knots. She doesn't hold the chunks of hair as she combed through it but rather she held my head to force the comb down, causing my hair to fall out. I could tell that she was rushing so she was able to serve more walk-ins. In the end, my scalp felt worn out as soon as she was done. Doubt I would return. Clean place, but I would not want to go through that again.

Boyfriend came home with an absolutely awful haircut today. He generally goes to a barber, but he and his Dad (near his Dad's home) went there to get freshened up for his daughter/sisters' wedding. It's way shorter than he asked for and all choppy and not graduated at all. Shame on you. I suppose that's what you get for the price. Never again.

OMG!!! I got highlights there last week and as I saw one review before and I asked for Tim, the whole time I was shocked how bad their services was, my highlights turned out YELLOW,,,,GOLD yellow. I could not believe it. but instead of talking to me he turned to the other customer who was getting a hair cut and showed him the samples and my hair and asked him to say if they matched, he asked a guy to comment if the color of my hair was the same as sample color I showed him.....WOW.....all he did to fix it was putting some toner on which did not help, I dyed my hair black a few days a go to cover up those nasty highlights I am not going back there, neither anyone I know!!!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The guy did my hair. The wash was fine except for that the chairs are sinks are disgusting. Then the guy started blow drying my hair. He didn't even brush it after the wash before he started blow drying it. He started to use this hair straightener on my hair while it was wet...... Are u kidding me! And when I asked him if he could not use it and just use the blow dryer he said no to me and told me to not ask questions and leave it to him. Then he turned my chair around so that i could not see my hair at all or what he was doing. All I know is that he was Pulling and yanking the shit out of my hair because he never brushed it PLUS he used this really shitty round brush that didn't have toppers on the bristles so he was basically scraping the top of my head. I asked him to turn my chair around so I could look in the mirror and I saw My hair and it looked HORRIBLE. I asked if he was Going to go over it at all and he got upset and told me that he wasn't going to finish my hair and told me to get out of the chair. HORRIBLE people horrible service dirty salon and rude people. This place is a joke My aunt also came with me and her hair sucks too. She asked for curls and the lady didn't even know how to use a Curling iron LOL what a joke. Don't Go here. Save ur money and go elsewhere.

Complete waste of time. Don't bother unless you're a regular or you like waiting. Tim the owner will serve a repeat customer who walks in after you've been sitting and waiting for an hour. The man has no scruples. Don't believe the hype. Take your money elsewhere.

I needed haircut and decided to try somewhere new. My haircut was fast and friendly, I am very happy with it and will definitely be coming back

I actually would say it's 2 thumbs down and no star, worst haircut I've ever gotta and she kept saying this is what u need, and there price was too much, way off if what they advertise? Thankfully hair grows and my man is still willing to go away with me looking the way I do.

I went to this salon because a friend of mine said he is happy with them!! It was a complete disaster. It took them about 3 hours for a simple color and cut and most of it was sitting around waiting ( the cutting part was over in 5 min) , I went in with my long and beautiful hair which I did not dye for 4 years, before I sat down I asked for the price and they showed me price chart hanged on the mirror, 45 dollars color for long hair and 17 dollars a hair cut. Now here is my experience, that place was just filthy, old furnitures and dirty sinks, a pile of garbage . when I went in, they said Tim is having lunch and unless he was barbecuing a cat, nothing could explain the horrible smell. I took a picture of what I wanted to get done and he did not even bother looking at it, the lady who dyed my hair could only speak two words of English : good and " not good" !! she was pulling my hair so bad, dropped the comb on the floor and then picked it up and continued without washing it. I told her she shouldn't be doing that but she wouldn't understand!!! I was so awkward, they treat you like you are asking them for a favour without paying them... they seemed to be constantly mad at me!! which was really wired. my color is reddish brown instead of light brown that I asked for. when it came to the cut, I specifically asked him not to change the length of my hair, he cut my hair to half of its original length in just 4 min, Now it is time to pay : I've have enough of that ***hole and I am ready to leave and never come back, I go to pay and he charges me 85 dollars instead of (45+17=62) and when I ask why? he replies "you have thick hair!!!!!" I said but this not the price you showed me and he started yelling that there is a + sign , the funny part was that my hair is not even thick!!!! he stole the money from me, the entire time nobody even smiled once, I was used to leaving a hair salon, feeling happy beautiful and well treated but I left there feeling robbed and violated.

Tim Tang is the man when it comes to cutting hair. He's like Edward Scissor Hands. Been going here for years even after I moved from Edmonds area to Vancouver. Great Friendly Staff and Affordable prices. Make and Appt because he is a busy. Cheers!
