The Best Dishes Eater Boston’s Editor Ate This Month | Eater Boston

"A sundae delivery service that scooters around Boston dropping hefty cups of ice cream and frozen yogurt loaded with mix-ins like Oreos, edible cookie dough, and brownie bits — essentially a wildly indulgent, childlike sugar rush. Orders can occasionally arrive incorrect, but barring allergies most customers are pleased; the Cannoli Mudslide (peanut-butter-pie ice cream base with Oreo cookies, cannoli shell bits, and a thick peanut-butter sauce) earned a rave, 10/10." - Erika Adams

Unique and delicious spot for a sweet treat. They have a cornucopia of incredible combinations, so it’s really a choose-your-own-adventure. Portions are ginormous, so bring your appetite. Service is a little strange, one worker was eating ice cream while working and not wearing gloves, which was unpleasant to witness. I also wish there was more indoor seating other than the small bench and it’s a little dirty inside as well. On the whole, would probably recommend taking out.

Google
I cannot glaze this place enough it is genuinely like the ultimate treat... the numerous layers and topping in the ice cream goes crazy it is actually amazing especially if you have a sweet tooth. The flavor options are also so good... this place never dissapoints

Staff were so nice and friendly as soon as you walk through the door. They gave helpful tips when ordering ! We customized our order with so many overwhelming options :)

Google
I came for one scoop, left in a full-blown committed relationship. The flavors? Illegal levels of delicious. I tried the cookie dough and nearly called my ex just to say, “You were never this sweet.” Staff are so friendly, I thought I accidentally walked into a family reunion. 10/10 would betray my diet again.

Legit watched 7 workers kick but with a full store while one chick was on her phone for lonnngggggg. Lucy was being a rockstar super professional and was getting the job done. Stacy did an amazing job with the Togo orders and haven’t stop working. The other 5 other than the one lady did an amazing job. Stacy in the pink looking like a boss!

Google
Scoops and Scootery never disappoints! Their ice cream is always super creamy and packed with flavor. The toppings are generous, and the delivery is always quick. Perfect treat for any day! Highly recommend

Yelp
I love the Scoop N Scootery! My favorite location is still the one in Arlington but this one, I like for its convenience, as it's in Allston. Much closer to me & I typically grab food from this area! I always order through their website online and pickup is quick & easy. Usually takes only ~10 min for my orders to be ready. My favorites to order include: -caramel cone crunch -pb&b -strawberry shortcake -the French Revolution -customize: strawberry cheesecake w/ red velvet core I find the mini size ($6.49) to be the PERFECT size for me, especially after a meal and I'm craving dessert but still really full from dinner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We all scream for Ice Cream! This place is awesome!! So delicious. We ordered several different sundaes and they were spectacular! Kids loved them, adults loved them, no joke they were all delicious! My personal favorite... Boston cream pie - was unbelievable! Accommodating to food allergies which is huge for us because we have a peanut allergy. Staff was friendly and super helpful!

Yelp
Where the best ice cream titles are found! Love the creative titles they came up with for the various sundaes on the menu. Ordered the medium size of the Four Horsemen sundae and it was more than enough. Probably could've sized down if I knew how filling it would be. The flavor was a 5/5 and exactly what I wanted. The ingredients tasted fresh and of quality. Know what you want before you get in line because it doesn't take long for the line to pile up. The parking around this area is tough and was informed by a local that tow trucks are constantly towing cars parked near here. Will be back when I'm the area!

Yelp
Idk which location I order from but this is my fav special door dash treat My go to is the campfire s'mores ice cream (marshmallow ice cream w/ graham cracker crumbs, chocolate pieces, & mini marshmallows) with chocolate ice cream (they mix together quite well) and then a FLUFF CORE (best thing ever), oreos, and Nutella whipped cream. Literally the best ice cream I LOOOVE the cores and the Nutella whipped cream could be eaten just on its own. Perfect treat w so many options

Yelp
One of the best ice cream spots in Boston by far! Especially if you're looking for unique, indulgent flavor combos, this is your spot. The prices are definitely high but so is the stack of toppings on top of your order, so it's definitely worth the price. I got the second to smallest size, and it's lasted me for 3 days so far! As for the service, it's fast whether you order self-serve or with the advice of the cashier's recommendations like I did. If you're indecisive, I recommend either doing this too or planning what you'll get ahead of time because the options are manyyyyyy! Seriously, there's so many flavors, but each of them are absolutely amazing. Personally, I recommend their homemade whipped cream, their pie crust topping, their custard filling, or their marshmallow ice cream. Overall, this is a spacious shop with an upbeat vibe sure to fulfill you and your friends' sweet toothes in an instant. Their ice cream is unlike any dessert I've had before, and I highly recommend you give them a try!

Kandra H.

Yelp
Great menu options and also make your own options. Order and menu is through a computer which nice to take time and look at everything. Whip cream stuck to the lid and was just a waste but over all I would recommend it. Outdoor seating only.

Yelp
The best ice cream I've had in a long time! I had the blueberry pie with fresh blueberries. The staff were super friendly and helpful as well. I'll definitely be back and i highly recommend they have an array of flavors!
google avatar

Adina S.

Yelp
Lots of great ice cream places to choose from in the area, but this one makes the list. They had a bunch of cool flavors, and I especially love the ones with chunks of goodies in them. The space itself was huge and you could see the employees preparing the ice cream. However, there wasn't really anywhere to sit. I will also say, it did smell a bit weird in the shop. Nevertheless, I'm a sucker for some good ice cream!

Yelp
Tasty and unique flavors. Servers were really friendly. Although there was a line, it went quickly and it was worth a wait. Cute ambiance!

Yelp
The best bang for your buck in Allston for sure. Their "mini" serves two. They have a great variety of ice cream flavors, toppings and sundaes. There is no parking and most area around is residential spots, but it's definitely worth driving around to find the parking. Order comes fast!

Yelp
Solid icecream shop, but I was not prepared for the number of flavors and toppings they offered. It was overwhelming. The sizes of the icecream cups were also WAY larger than I've ever seen. I wish they offered a more reasonable size. The smallest size can definitely be shared. Flavor of the icecream I tried was solid. I'd come back here again if I needed to drown myself in icecream. Quick service and no seating offered.
google avatar

Yelp
I still think about this sundae to this day. We got the hella nutella subbed with vanilla ice cream and it was perfect to share. The portions are huge and they don't skimp on the toppings. The Nutella whip was so airy and fluffy that it paired perfectly with the brownie and vanilla ice cream. The worker was so helpful and allowed us to substitute the turtle ice cream for vanilla (not a huge fan of chocolate). The place is an open concept so you can see everything the workers are doing and allows for a transparent transaction from start to finish. One thing I was shocked by was the price ($11) for a sundae, but it was worth it for the size and amount. It took us 2 days to finish the sundae and we would absolutely come back to try a different one next time.
google avatar

Yelp
The absolute BEST ice cream I've ever eaten. Blows every place I've ever had ice cream at out of the water. Keep it up!
google avatar

Bailey B.

Yelp
The serving sizes are HUGE. I couldn't even finish a mini. I wish they offered smaller sizes because a mini is honestly the size of a pint of ice cream?? Also it was sad because they served it to us with the plastic lid on and that lid stuck to the whipped cream and it peeled it totally off. However the whipped cream was really delicious and the fruit was fresh and not over ripe. I liked the blueberry pie ice cream. I'd recommend sharing because it was huge! There isn't much space inside the place, and the benches outside must have been next to a dumpster because it smelled kinda sour. But great ice cream to just walk and chat with because it'll take you a while to get through it.

Yelp
I've been to all 3 locations and they are all pretty much set up similar The one in Allston we usually order online and just pull up right quick for the pickup. They always move pretty fast so waiting isn't too long. My usual order is the PB&B which is peanut butter sauce, Reese's cups, vanilla ice cream and bananas! Or I'll grab the PB Bomb. Now i must say lately we I've been liking their strawberry blonde! Strawberry cheesecake ice cream with red velvet core! I can't find the pictures but their menu has pictures of each creation on their site. You can also order ice cream for delivery as well not just pickup.

Gabe S.

Yelp
All time best sundaes. I've tried several and every ingredient in every single one of them is top notch. However, I'm writing this review to commend the service. I had great customer service at their old location in Brighton. I went to this one the other night and it was packed. I was expecting a decent wait for my sundaes, but they came out quickly. The staff really hustles there. Love this place!
google avatar

Brooke C.

Yelp
I had an excellent delivery experience from here. I ordered the granddaddy and was wary of the delivery/melting aspect. But the delivery went perfectly smooth and my ice cream was still the perfect consistency when it was delivered to me! It was also an incredible sundae! The ice cream was really rich and the toppings were premium. I wish there were smaller portion sizes for some of these sundaes, I could only eat half of mine
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Customized my own sundae the last time I was here and it was really good. This time I got the Slenderman and that was really good as well. The ice cream, the brownies, it's all really good. Highly recommend if you like ice cream! The service is good. Unfortunately no seating inside. And the parking is difficult but there are a few bus lines that pass through.
google avatar

Winter B.

Yelp
This is a super cute unique ice cream spot! There is a large variety of flavors and toppings to choose from. I think they are known for their over the top, creative sundaes which looked delicious but I just got a regular scoop. I got the cookie dough yogurt which was delicious but was more of an ice cream consistency. My mom loved the campfire s'mores flavor and was raving about the chunks of gram cracker and toasty marshmallow flavor the ice cream had. We both got the mini size which is comparable to a large at most ice cream spots. I would recommend coming here! There is no seating indoors and limited parking. Employees are very friendly.
google avatar

MJ H.

Yelp
We absolutely love the location in Arlington, and we have frequented it over a number of years. The sundaes are unique and out of the world... the sizes are beyond generous. You can order a "mini" size, split with a friend, and that is more than enough! I am taking off one star for the Allston location because it smelled like vomit when we went in there last week. It was so off-putting that we didn't order anything. My husband did let the counter clerk know about the smell. It was so rancid - not sure what was going on there.

Charlotte B.

Yelp
I hate to leave this review because everyone I know raves about this place, but I ordered two sundaes from here for delivery, since I've heard it's quick and easy. when it got to my house I had recieved the complete wrong flavor and order. I was only given one sundae worth half of what I had paid and have been constantly trying to contact doordash and this place to try and get a refund, but neither are responsive.

Laila L.

Yelp
Today I went to The Scoop N Scootery for the first time and had a very unpleasant experience. The place was exceptionally crowded, other patrons who were frequent visitors said they had never seen it so packed before. I finally get inside to place my order and waited over an hour to get my ice cream. There was no order or reasoning behind to there methods. They prioritized only DoorDash or Uber Eats orders. Customers who preordered their ice cream were left waiting even longer for their orders. Some customers even left without their orders because they felt the wait was not worth it! I only received mine because I asked someone for an update and they scrambled and made it for me. When I finally get home to enjoy what I waited SO long for, THERE WAS HAIR IN MY ICE CREAM. As a first impression I am so disappointed with my experience. Waste of money. Waste of time. I would not recommend.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
At first glance I was amazed at the selection. Ultimately I went with Strawberry cheesecake and it was amazing!

Blythe F.

Yelp
Great sundaes! The portions are huge, so i wish there were smaller options... the mini is more like a large! Quite pricey, but really tasty! i feel like I am wasting so much food because I didn't eat it all though:(! Also wish they had seating! Still yummy though.
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
Super decadent wow! As an ice cream lover, the small sundae was a feast on its own. They have so many different options to choose from that I had to research the menu to help make my mind beforehand. I ended up getting the Cake Cinner, which was cake batter ice cream paired with red velvet cake and topped with cinnamon whipped cream and white chocolate chips. If I am ever in Boston again, I will definitely stop by here again because of their endless options. Staff service is great and the indoor is clean. I do wish they had seating inside.

Gg02136 G.

Yelp
The ice cream equivalent of crumbl. So good. Open late. They do not hold back on those toppings gahhhdamn.
google avatar

Tori C.

Yelp
as a hardcore ice cream fan i can say that hands down this is the best ice cream in the boston area. good, simple classic flavors that aren't too experimental but also not too square. the biggest bang for your buck, delectable and super yummy. reliable for a sweet treat as they're open late. i want to name two cats scoop and scoot after this place
google avatar

Jake C.

Yelp
Best ice cream place in the area! Their small is a large anywhere else. Amazing value for what you get with a ton of unique options with fresh baked cookies and pies mixed into the ice cream. Unfortunately, the staff has been rude every time and either rolled their eyes or refused to answer questions about the ice cream.
google avatar

Marlene A.

Yelp
delicious delicious delicious ice cream delivery/pick-up! while every sundae averages around 11$, the serving sizes are hefty and last you multiple days! attached is a picture of the smallest size next to a typical spoon. the flavors are also very unique and creative, you can't get these anywhere else. i wish they had more vegan/gluten free options (or an option to swap for a vegan base?) as i think the full cow milk experience is slightly too rich for my tastes.
google avatar

Devanshi B.

Yelp
I love scoop n scootery. I've tried at least 5 different ice creams from here. My favorite part about their varieties is the creative combinations. Everytime you see the menu, you can try a different combination of fruits/ice cream/toppings... I've not really been to this place, we usually order from here. Also, the portions are pretty huge! I've not been to a better and creative dessert place than this! If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out.

Yelp
We wanted ice cream after going to see a college hockey game and having a dispirting dinner of beer and french fries. Found out about The Scoop N Scootery on YELP. Totally not familiar with it or the extended Boston area so we chose the Allston location on Linden Once we found it and parked we walked on in. Very functional space but not a space where we would want to hang out, and it was too cold to stay outside. So we took our ice cream to go. We just ordered a german chocolate cake and a regular chocolate in the smallest available size and the portions were huge (each one was the equivalent of two servings for a normal human). One of us got whipped cream as a topping. BEST ICE CREAM WE HAVE HAD FOR A LONG TIME-- and the quality of that whipped cream was fabulous. Now I know the place is known for all sorts of crazy multi-layered flavor sundae extravaganzas but that is just not our thing. But the quality of the ice cream itself and of that whipped cream that had a totally homemade texture and taste, I am pretty darn sure that all their ingredients will be up to that level. Employees are friendly enough too! You just walk in and enter your order on a computer.
google avatar

Yelp
Of all the local ice cream shops I've been to in Boston, Scoop N Scootery gives by far, the largest servings. I ordered a Mini size, which comes with two scoops (1 to 2 flavors), and it's more than enough to share among two people, especially if it's a post-meal treat. The texture of the ice cream is super creamy. This time around I ordered the Coffee Oreo and the Campfire Smores. This location is quite small, and you're able to scan a QR code outside and order for pickup inside or outside, where they're supposed to bring it out to you. I noted in the special instructions that I was waiting outside (as instructed on the QR code board), but eventually had to go in to ask about my order. Turns out, my order was already prepared and had been sitting in the freezer for who knows how long. When I asked if they still honored the outdoor pickup instructions, the server mumbled something incoherent. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was a busy Friday night, but I do wish the process was more organized, as the people coming inside were also confused by the layout. My experiences at other Scoop N Scootery locations have been nothing but positive (and less inundated with college students), so I'll stick with going to those.
google avatar

Ricky T.

Yelp
Buss respectfully. Rizzler status. My girl can't go here cause I don't want the ice cream to pleasure her more then I do
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
How gourmet can ice cream be? I don't normally like ice cream, but I am always craving Scoop N Scootery. Food I've tried: I always opt to build my own, but there are plenty of premade options. The ice cream will range from $10-$15 depending on what you choose. You can definitely share as the portions are generous, or choose to eat the whole thing on your own. You may think that is a hefty price for dessert, but truly it is worth it. All of the flavors are the perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness, that is not overwhelming. There are so many topping options, and you can even put "cores" in the ice cream, my favorite being cannoli cream or red velvet. Their whipped cream is deliciously home made, as it is very dense. They are also open until 2AM, which makes this a perfect late night treat. Atmosphere: - It is a to-go store with no indoor seating. Service: - You order using their website (a sign outside the store directs you to it), and wait outside. The ice cream comes out at a reasonable time, but I recommend ordering in advance on their website while heading to the store to avoid wait times particularly when it is busy. Overall: - A must go dessert place in Boston.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about these guys. THIS is where my income is going. bad day? no worries, just grubhub some scoop 'n' scootery. i've introduced, like, four exes to this place- my adoration for some scooping and scooting has survived every college breakup i've suffered AND multiple job changes. literally the best ice cream on the planet AND they don't skip ANY of the fixings. i watch for new sundaes dropping on their instagram the way some people await season premieres on hulu, or album releases from favored musicians. every fall i lose my everloving mind when sweater weather and pumpkin donut make their seasonal debuts (would LOVE if they'd make these guys year-round staples, but i guess you can't have your strawberry shortCAKE sundae and eat it too, you know?). if i ever get to be famous, i hope the scoop 'n' scootery sponsors me.

Paul M.

Yelp
Firstly, the smallest size is quite big, meaning it is expensive. Normally this wouldn't be an issue; However, the "ice cream", if you can even call it that, was not good. The cup was 80% toppings, and was just a mixed mess of desserts with a tiny bit of ice cream under it. The second is that the service was non existent. Everything is done through a computer. Which normally isn't an issue but the workers seem completely uninterested in interacting with customers. It is basically an open kitchen with a small standing room to wait and watch the workers chit chat and watch tv as they concoct your dessert. I genuinely wouldn't go here again if you paid me.
google avatar

Yelp
Updated: avoid the pudding cores--the pudding freezes in the ice cream and becomes a weird icy texture! Pros: -Huge portions (mini sundae is over 15oz/425g!!) -Good amount of mix-ins (though mostly on the top) -Lots of variety and creativity in the sundae options, or you can build your own -Coronavirus specific: order online and say your name at the door to pick up your order -- I recommend the Mini Sundae Combo--for $17.27 it's a great deal compared to other ice cream spots as each mini is at least 2 reasonable servings of ice cream (and in reality it's probably close to 4 servings if you compare it to suggested servings sizes on a pint). I'll be back to try some of the other sundaes!
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
We were pretty amazed by this place. So many choices! The sundae choices are endless and hilarious. They also have froyo sundaes and build your own. It was so hard to decide! By the counter you even see that milkshakes are an option. After much deliberation, my friend decided on a banana hammock- chocolatey peanut buttery banana goodness, and I did a make your own with strawberry cheesecake ice cream bananas and Nutella whipped cream. Get the Nutella whipped cream! It's awesome!! The whole iced cream is covered in this cute bloop of fresh whipped cream. It will be hard to go back to eating ice cream any other way. & They deliver! An ice cream sundae delivered to your house?! Game changer

Delaney D.

Yelp
wow, I'm drooling over this menu. Wish I could get everything! 12 dollars for ice-cream is a bit steep, but the sundaes are so worth it. The serving size is hefty, and the homemade whipped cream is so light and creamy. Also can't beat a sweet treat spot open til 2am with delivery. I could eat this every day.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
They're taking to go orders and inside is open for pickup. Very cute small shop and so many options for any flavor combo! My boyfriend got the demigorgon and I got the mini combo with one of the flavors being the double stuffed the portions were very generous. Definetly recommend for those who are indecisive like myself and can't choose. We kept some for the next day and super yummy both times!
google avatar

Aya R.

Yelp
It kind of smells weird in there, like a bar, but the ice cream was good! I ordered the Moose Tracks frozen yogurt with fudge. The prices and portions are pretty darn good!
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
Such a great addition to allston and honestly my go to other than jp licks. Their portions run big and have a lot of preset options but you can always customize

Maria B.

Yelp
I went to this place for the first time last night and ordered the black raspberry graham cracker shake. Whatever they gave me was extremely thick like mud, oddly warm (??), and tasted like straight up raw brownie batter. It was as if there wasn't any ice cream in whatever concoction they made. They also give you the toppings separately which I thought was a little strange. I'm usually not one to leave a poor review, but this experience was really disappointing and considering the price I will not be back.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Ordered the coffee Oreo, the "tasty" size. GREAT portion and it was absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Ice cream was delish but wow, the staff was so rude. You have to order the ice cream online which is a bit annoying. And god forbid you ask a question about the ice cream.... I got rolled eyes and a snarky comment that all the information is on the app.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
TL;DR: My favorite ice cream place in the area. Service: I've always got my ice cream to go. Both in person and online orders have gone smoothly. Food: There are tons of combinations to choose from, my favorite is the strawberry shortcake. The price seems a little high until you realize the portion sizes are really big. When I've gotten a "tasty" I end up eating over 2-3 sittings. Overall: I really enjoy the ice cream and highly recommend it.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
**This review is during the COVID-19 guidelines for pick up. Not usually a big ice cream person, but I love this place! I ordered a custom Mini size half Oreo yogurt, half Coffee Toffee yogurt with pie crust and cookie bites for toppings. A bit on the pricey side for ice cream, but the portion was large considering I got the smallest size--I finished the whole thing! tl;dr On the pricier side, but this place does not skimp on portions and you'll definitely get a bang for your buck. I can't wait to try their other flavors and toppings! Ice cream: The ice cream was perfectly rich, creamy, and not overly sweet. If you don't want something too heavy, definitely get frozen yogurt instead of regular ice cream--taste and texture wise, you can't even tell the difference. I was also pleasantly surprised by how chunky the Oreo and toffee bits were. Toppings: I HIGHLY recommend getting pie crust as a topping. The slight saltiness of it cuts through the ice cream's sweetness perfectly and adds a really great crunch as well. I also really liked the cookie bites (I believe it was chocolate chip?) since it was soft and chewy. Service: For pick up, you order online through their website, and you'll have to wait outside for you order to be ready. The service was super nice and accommodating, and they were still very energetic and attentive even at on a Friday night. I love the lively atmosphere, and I definitely want to experience eating here once COVID restrictions are lifted.

Yelp
Delicious sundaes! My group ordered the peanut butter mudslide, holy cannnolo, and zipadeedodae sundaes. The portion size is HUGE! Seriously, the legendary size could feed 3-4 people. The price is hefty, but the size accounts for that. All of the sundaes were delicious, but I suggest going for the more unique sundaes (like the seasonal sundaes, cannoli, etc). The pb mudslide was great, but I felt like I could make that at home. The cannoli, however, felt truly unique and worth the price. There are a ton of different flavors and they have really creative themes, so you won't be disappointed. The toppings are really fresh too. For extra COVID precaution, we ordered through Uber eats and it was great. The ice cream arrived still cold.
