It's all about the sundaes here. They take mix-ins and toppings to a whole new level (check out their website, it's bananas--literally & figuratively)! The trade-off with that, is that the ice cream itself is less varied, less nuanced, as it can't compete too much with the loads of stuff thrown in there (so lots of vanilla here)! It's definitely a fun experience, and the kids loved it, so even though the sundaes are $10 each, it's a great experience.
We got 2 sundaes, regular size, each one easily fed two of us. Lauren & I shared the SKIPPY da do da Dae: Peanut butter oreo ice cream with a peanut butter filling topped with brownies, fudge, and chocolate flakes. The base is decent, although I wanted more of the taste the Oreo. The brownie chunks are very fudgey, good stuff, although too large and at times it was a bit too much brownie. The peanut butter filling though, was terrible, I don't know what happened, maybe it was old, it tasted off. Luckily, there wasn't much of it, sadly if it had been good it would have really taken this sundae over the top. out of five cones. Best paired with at least one friend and Cappadonna - Milk The Cow.
The kids got The Garland: Campfire s'mores ice cream topped with marshmallow fluff, frosted rice crispy treats, doughy sugar cookie bites, fudge, graham crackers, and whipped cream. I LOVE s'mores, but I find that ice cream s'mores can't compete, it's just not the same without the fire melted goodness of warm marshmallows with burnt edges. This base, however, was pretty good, and I loved it with a graham cracker, some of the marshmallow fluff and fudge (and I think I got some rice crispy treats, a genius addition). I only sampled this one, but in later bites I got some of the sugar cookies (very cookie doughy), and oh my, SUGAR is an understatement, there were some bites that felt like eating a spoonful of pure sugar, too much sugar. I'd trade the sugar cookies for more rice crispy treats, but otherwise this was pretty good, and a half cones out of five. Best paired with a good tooth brushing and Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me.
