The Scotch of St James

We’ve been coming here every single weekend since September 19th. Every weekend we’ve spent between £200–£500. They always told us we were on the list, and we always got in… until today. The security guys recognize us by now; they’ve always been nice and greeted us when we arrived. Tonight, November 9th, Nick confirmed at 11:00 PM that there was no problem and that we were on the list—me and five friends. We showed up at 2:50 AM (which is the time we always come), and suddenly we were told we couldn’t get in because “there were too many people,” that they were “full.” We said we could wait for people to leave, and they told us no, that unless we bought a table, we weren’t getting in. Meanwhile, groups of girls were let in right in front of us, without paying anything, and nobody stopped them. To make it worse, we asked Nick about getting a table, and he said they were “fully booked.” Five minutes later, six men showed up asking for a table, and they were allowed to pay and go right in. We approached Nick to understand why we couldn’t get in after coming here for two months straight and spending money every weekend. His exact response was: “No, you can’t get in.” I told him that if after all this time and money we weren’t allowed in, we wouldn’t come back anymore. His answer: “Okay, don’t come back.” It honestly shocked us. I know my reaction wasn’t the best because I was upset, but I truly don’t understand how, after being loyal customers, we were treated like this, while others just had to say “hey Nick” to walk right in. It’s extremely disrespectful from both Scotch and Nick. I hate that I have to write this, because we genuinely had a great time here every weekend, but tonight’s treatment was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely unfair. Total disappointment.

I’ve always had a great time at The Scotch of St James! The atmosphere is amazing, the music is spot on, and the staff are always so welcoming. Every time I’ve been, the people, both the team and other guests have been incredibly nice to me and my friends. Definitely my favorite spot in London for a fun night out!

Horrendous experience A bouncer put his hands on me after that, they went and said I’d be able to get a free drink and free entry. The next day I gave him the benefit of the doubt I went to next day. I was declined to come in after that, I went to ask what was the guys name who decided put his hands on me they proceeded to not go and tell me and I do not recommend anyone to come to this club whatsoever.

Everything was perfect, we got a table and the service was perfect, asked to place some of our friend on the list and they entered with no problem and in general was a really fun night

this clubs sucks, you shouldn't go there. The bouncers are mean. Have a fun time somewhere else

Yeah this place was totally awesomely awful we got a table and a bottle there were maybe 15 ppl there and the bottle was a 750ml bottle with maybe at best 40% vodka and 60% water we tried to get another and there was no help so I got a Long Island iced tea for 23£ great prices! Not.

I was invited to Scotch for a fashion week party so I had no idea that it's supposed to be hard to get in. The ground floor is quite small and reminded me of a safari/hunting theme with some orient details. It looks quite cosy and I can definitely imagine myself relaxing there after a long day. The basement, however, is a whole other story. Booths all around and a dance floor in the middle with a disco ball in the middle, it looks like a club that was left over from the past. Parties there are rumoured to last till the morning. The whole night was quite fun and there were lots of networking opportunities. I am not sure if that's the regular atmosphere of that bar, however if you get a chance to go there don't miss out on it.

The Scotch is a great pub / music venue. The tiny stage and area in the basement has held many gigs such as Jimi Hendrix's, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and recently Right Said Fred who was doing a special VIP event playing some of their latest songs from their upcoming album Exactly. The bar area on the first floor feels a bit like a lodge in a way. The pub/venue is hard to find as it is hidden down Mason's Yard. Once you get to the right street, just keep walking until you find the brown door. I went along to a VIP gig that I was invited to as I am a super fan of Right Said Freds if you can enter this pub/venue normally without a invite I dont know.......

Quite the venue. The people here are extremely nice, with extreme tastes in extremely good things. Not great for first dates. Great for second dates. Highly recommended. ladies: send me your info

I was deciding on whether or not to add this place as it is so awesome I want to keep it a little secret of my own, but I am all about freedom of unbiased information, so, you're welcome. This sneakily hidden bar/club/cool kids club is hidden just behind the equally unemphatic White Cube gallery in St James and recently reopened after a 20-year closure and is the new stage for discovering emerging bands (every Tuesday night). In the 60s it was frequented by the era's iconic musicians such as Jimi Hendrix and the Stones, where they cold drink, dance and party into the night and undercover. The sign behind the DJ booth advertise that 'This DJ sucks', alluding to the opposite. The décor is of the plush-dark-velvet sofas and dim deco lighting which leads to endless dancing on furniture until 5am. As Paris Hilton would say it's Hott, but I doubt she'd make it past the door man.
