This was a truly excellent experience with impeccable service set in a relaxed while elegant decor. There is a very solid wine list with a considerable price range and plenty of after meal spirits as well. The appetizers were very innovative, including black lobster rocks, which was accomplished by taking the intersection of the claw and elbow of the lobster and coating it with a squid ink tempura combination. The tuna tart shots were delicious. We followed with Morel and morel sauce scallops, which was an extraordinary flavor pairing, and the miso cod was melting in your mouth delightful. The chocolate bomb dessert was amazing and came with its own little show as a caramel sauce was poured into the perfect sphere and melted a river of goodness into it. A sublime Meursault (white Burgundy) accompanied the meal and the waiter doled it out perfectly to make it last.

Came here for birthday celebration. The food doesn't disappoint, however, the service did. The tasting menu caught my eye. You got the best of both worlds (sea and land). It's full table participation. We were served with abalone, scallop, sea bass, waygu steak and a dessert. Everything tasted excellent. The sauce on the waygu steak is bit too salty to my taste and it's still good. We upgraded our dessert to the soufflé. They have the best soufflé. We also ordered a couple sides: the brussel sprouts and lobster fried rice. There's nothing special with the brussel sprouts and it's on the greasy side. The lobster fried rice is tasty and cooked with bacon and eggs. One downside is they started charging for extra bread basket. For such an expensive restaurant (we spent over $500 for 2 ppl), it's hard to believe they nickel and dime customers for $5/extra basket for tiny pieces of breads (bite-size). Also, they haven't changed their menu (appetizers and entrees) for a few years. Honestly I'm getting bored of the menu. I've tried most of what I wanted to eat during the last few visits. I wish they would bring in a seasonal menu or at least be more creative and change it up once in a while. Their online website menu seems to be outdated for dessert. They have mandarin soufflé (see the screenshot) listed on their website. However, in the restaurant menu, it has the raspberry soufflé instead. When I asked the waiter about the mandarin soufflé, he said they have not had it for at least 5 months. Why do they still list it on the website? It's disappointing as I really like the mandarin soufflé and was hoping to have it again for my birthday. Service is ok, not the best. One of our dishes took forever to come and there was no update from our waiter at all. So we ended up ordering a couple side dishes while waiting. A few times when we needed our waiter, he was nowhere to be found and didn't come check on us. For such a fancy restaurant, I thought we would get exceptional services which we didn't get this time. I've had better ones with previous visits.

I love the food here and have had many wonderful experiences dining here for the past 20 years. This review is only for the latest experience I've had. The server(s) were unprofessional. He repeatedly rushed us to finish our appetizers because he said he needed to serve the main dishes, took our plates without asking us while they were still in use or unfinished, reached over and under the guests to clear the table while the guests were serving themselves food, spilled drinks on the table while refilling cups and spilled water into the entrees, tossed the silverware onto the tray while bussing instead of placing them down nicely (and grabbing them by the eating end, which is just strange), got way too close while setting the table that I could feel his breathe down my neck (which was gross). And once he took our credit card, his first response was to ask us how much tip would we'd like to give. Standard procedure, even at casual restaurants, is to charge the card and say thank you, not ask how much tip we are going to give to you. This attitude gives the impression that Alexander's is more focused on the service charge than customer service. Overall, unrefined and callous service, not on par with Alexander's typical standards. Unbefitting of a restaurant of this caliber. The service that we received made my guests uncomfortable and embarrassed. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Alexander's until these issues with the service are addressed.

Wonderful dining experience at The Sea by Alexander’s. This is part of an upscale steakhouse chain, but this location offers a significantly more diverse menu, focused on seafood. Lobster rocks and Hamachi shots were terrific! Beautiful and elegant interior, with a super friendly and efficient staff. Sizable free parking lot. Highly recommended for a special occasion dinner.

Always so consistent, the service and the dishes were very good, we tried different things including The salmon and it was excellent. The filet mignon is just the perfect size and flavor for me.

We’ve celebrated our anniversary at Alexander’s before, but Chris Tomas made this one truly magical!! Alexander’s food is always a serotonin hit, the food redefines Wagyu and Mero. The background piano guys music was banger after banger! Chris’s recommendations were spot on, trust him! The staff made us feel so special and cared for on our random Tuesday night anniversary dinner. Thanks so much Alexander’s team!

Google
Good food with excellent service. The tuna tartar was great. The filet was on point, and perfectly medium rare. The chocolate mousse dessert was a miss: it was so hard you couldn't put your spoon into it tight away. Clearly it was frozen or way over fridgerated. The staff was kind and responsive. The ambience was nice but not special. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner. Based on a price value curve, I give it four stars.

Delicious food and service and the vibes of this restaurant are very luxurious. Lobster Mac and cheese and the complementary orange cotton candy were my favorites

Yelp
The ambiance at The Sea by Alexander's is undeniably elegant, chic, and comfortable. The service was also great--attentive and professional without feeling overbearing. We came in excited for a special dinner, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet our expectations. We started with two appetizers: Popcorn Crab and Japanese Sword Squid Calamari. The Popcorn Crab was the best thing we had all night--crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and paired perfectly with the sauce. In contrast, the calamari was dry and seemed overly fried, though I preferred the green chili aioli over the sweet chili sauce. For entrées, I ordered the CAB Filet Mignon (medium rare), but it was dry and nothing special. My husband got the John Dory, which he found underwhelming. We also shared the Lobster Fried Rice, which was another disappointment--the only thing we liked about it was the crispy Brussels sprouts garnish. For dessert, we tried the Burnt Almond Bomb, which was just okay. However, one thing we did enjoy was the Valentine's cocktail special--the restaurant took a Polaroid photo of us and gave me a rose at the end of the night, which was a sweet touch. Overall, we had a nice time together, but the food is very disappointing, it didn't live up to our expectations. My husband and I had a great time together, but we likely wouldn't return.

Yelp
Amazing Anniversary Experience! At first i thought id leave hungry but boi was i wrong. :D Loved Alexanders stake house, so naturally i wanted to try the subtle nuisance & complexities of their newer establishment. The service was beyond consistent& I don't know which was better the wine or the waiters because both were beyond exceptional. The seafood was beyond sensational. From the bread to dessert each coarse shows the chiefs & kitchens careI cannot rave about this place enough. Yes, there is a cost to a higher end establishment like this but the ambiance, experience & quality of food far surpasses your typically higher end dinning experience in my humble opinion. Hopefully this helps, always a pleasure - yr

Yelp
Was excited to try The Sea again since I haven't been here in a few years, and the last time it was very good. Started with the popcorn crab and it was "poppin". Crispy and full of flavor 8/10. We also had the grilled octopus which was cooked well and had a good char flavor 7.8/10. The Parmesan truffle fries were really good 8/10. Seared scallops were a bit disappointing, probably because I was thinking they would be the big diver scallops, but instead they were these tiny ones that were not as sweet. It came with chestnuts which was a strange combination paired with some sort of sweet sauce 5.3/10. Service was really good and attentive. It's a really pricy place and the food was not up to par with the $$$$.

Yelp
Alexander's in Cupertino is one of my favorite restaurants - so I had to see if The Sea was on par. It was. My wife and I shared the: - hamachi shots - lobster rocks - Imperial wagyu ribeye (14 oz) - brussel sprouts - truffle fries Every item we ordered, I would highly recommend. According to my wife, the hamachi shots were just as delicious as the Alexander's in Cupertino. Both of us were big fans of the lobster rocks appetizer - which were 8 "rocks" of lobster meat inside a crisp, flaky exterior. And they were nice enough to split our order into 2 separate plates ahead of time, knowing we were sharing. The wagyu ribeye isn't the same level of wagyu as the $250+ ones on the menu, but that's perfectly fine. The ribeye was extremely tender. And you'd be hard-pressed to find a better steak. And with any remaining room in our tummies, we munched on the truffle fries and the complimentary croissants until - as my toddler puts it - we "were about to pop." We were so full, we took the complimentary cotton candy home with us to snack on later. In short, The Sea by Alexander's was a delightful experience. And it's an all-around meal that's going to be very hard to beat in the Bay Area.

Yelp
Service was attentive and top notched. Our waters were always full. When my pregnancy was made known, I was greatly impressed by the thoughtfulness of our servers. While my table were toasting with their wines, it wasn't left out and given a glass of some sparkling pineapple juice. Our server was patient and explained the menu and made wonderful recommendations. Food was phenomenal and presentation was stunning. My table had ordered one of each of their desserts and no crumbs were left behind

Yelp
Came here for my mom's birthday and got a reservation ahead of time so getting there and getting seated was so easy! Good: - There were a lot of unique dishes - the lobster rocks were super unique. Flakey breading over lobster meat. - The steak was super tasty too! I got medium rare and the polenta was also very tasty - We got a free dessert since it was my mom's birthday - The chocolate bomb dessert was so unique since they melt it with a warm sugar syrup - The free bread basket was so good! Especially liked the croissant Bad: - Very expensive! - Takes a while for food to get to you Overall would come again but only for a big celebration

Yelp
I'm a super fan of Alexander's Steakhouse and was excited for The Sea. As always, their service was top notch and everyone was super delightful and treated us like kings and queens! The ambiance was dim and fairly quiet. Our server was amazing! He was knowledgeable, gave great recs and was a joy to converse with. I feel terrible for not recalling his name, but he was great! (Tall Asian gentleman) The hamachi shots were on par with the ones at the steakhouse and I wouldn't have expected any less at The Sea! It was fun to see shishito peppers on the menu and it was definitely delicious! There were bonito flakes on top, which was an interestingly nice touch. Overall, I'd definitely dine in again, but the steakhouse is still my fave.

Yelp
We had our engagement dinner here for a large party and returned tonight for a dinner date. The ambience is classic, tasteful and relaxing. The food was outstanding and the service is on par with michelin starred restaurants. Our server Steven was excellent and provided a really pleasant experience. All of the other members of staff were attentive, helpful and professional. We ordered the lobster rocks to start. They were delicious and the portion size was generous. For the main dish we ordered the wagyu ribeye and split it. We also ordered the truffle fries and brussel sprouts. Everything was cooked perfectly. To finish off the meal, we had a delicious almond espresso dessert. Thank you for an amazing night we will be back again!

Yelp
I had the New York State I believe the Hamachi shots and the dinner salad and it was absolutely amazing and I am one of the Pickys people you ever want in your restaurant or not want I should say, depending on the quality. Everybody that I was in contact with was an absolute professional And it was a stellar performance. The food was impeccable now with that being said it was very expensive, but well worth it I'll be back.

Yelp
This past weekend, between Christmas and New Year's Day, we celebrated a cousin's 88th birthday in a private room at the Sea by Alexander's. It was a perfect venue. My wife and I were not among the organizers. But I know her relations who put together the event looked at many options, and they were satisfied. The food was excellent, the service as well, and there was no rushing the two dozen diners at lunch; we must have stayed a good 2-1/2 hours. I had the steak. I requested Pittsburgh style. That is not easy with a thinner cut and the volume they had to take care of. It was fine. My wife had the chicken. She enjoyed it. We had enough for leftovers the next day. The folks who had the fish raved. I eyed their dishes with envy. The sides -- beans, broccolini, mushrooms, and French fries -- also were high in quality and generous in quantity. The fries, with that truffle seasoning, were among the best at a fine dining establishment. I don't live in the vicinity of this restaurant. My wife and I also don't eat that much meat, despite the foregoing report. (She had to start on chicken per doctor's orders, due to difficulty with getting enough protein. I am tapering off meat, toward a pesce-vegetarian diet.) Otherwise, however, we would gladly go for another meal. As it is, I'd like to put in a good word for anyone else loking for a venue for a similar party.

Yelp
The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse is a true culinary gem, perfect for a special night out or an indulgent treat. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a stunning, modern ambiance--sleek decor with elegant lighting and a calm, upscale vibe that set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. The food was absolutely outstanding!! The catch of the day in miso was a highlight--perfectly cooked, succulent, and so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The combination with edamame and seasonal mushrooms created a delightful balance of flavors and textures, elevating the dish to something truly memorable. This is probably the BEST fish dish I have ever tried at a restaurant, and one that I have since-then tried to re-create at home many times! For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate mousse, which was both decadent and light, with a beautiful presentation. It was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. Service was standard for a nice restaurant. The Sea is undoubtedly on the pricier side, but the quality of the miso fish and ambiance makes it well worth the splurge. Will definitely be back for another bite of that fish!

Yelp
We love the sea! One of my family's favorite restaurants. I know it's not "hidden" by any means, but I feel like it's one that's a little tucked away that people just drive by on el Camino. We always have such a nice meal here; delicious food, excellent service, and good vibes! I had a special (risotto topped with seared scallops), and the others at my table had the lobster, the halibut, and the John Dory. Everyone said their food was delicious! My risotto was a "side" portion with the scallops added on, but it was plenty as an entree! We shared Brussels sprouts for the table - so good with the bacon! The desserts were also delicious, we got the raspberry soufflé and an almond chocolate cake thing. 10/10 would recommend both! Our server was incredibly kind and always made sure we had what we needed.

Yelp
Delicious steakhouse in Palo Alto! Have had a few work dinners, where they always have a great wine selection, private dining area, and service. Their bread, tomato bisque, salmon, halibut, strawberry short cake, and of course their medium rare steak with ravioli are all amazing.

Yelp
Came just to get drinks as we were across the street at the hotel restaurant. We were very casual so wasn't sure if they would let us in, but luckily they said it was fine. Our bartender was superb, very knowledgeable and great conversationalist. I got the spiced - which was like a boozy pumpkin pie. Very decadent and the alcohol is well hidden. The hamachi shots were excellent - flavor and freshness. This is a splurge type of drinks and apps outing but quality and flavor matched.

Yelp
Ok I have to eat my words from last year's review lol. I said last year that I would look for another restaurant for my bday dinner this year, but I couldn't find any other nice seafood restaurant in the area that interested me, so we went back here again. This time we ordered the tasting menu along with half of the hamachi shots. The hamachi shots, as always, were delicious. The tasting menu had: -Abalone (delicious!!!) -Scallops (delicious!!!) -John Dory fish (this one was ok, felt like the fish was a bit tough, but I liked the one stalk of baby bok choy because I just like bok choy a lot lol). -Tajima steak (this one was ok, I like steak a lot but I expected more from Alexander's) -Matcha ganache cake (only ate 1 bite and took the rest to go lol since I was too full, but it was yummy!) Also at the beginning of the meal they gave us some warm croissants, cheese biscuits, and some crunchy crispy bread with butter. I liked all of the baked goods a lot, but the butter bowl was huge. They could consider using a smaller bowl to prevent waste. As always, service was great.

Yelp
Came back to celebrate my husbands birthday! Again the attention to detail and service was amazing. We got another delicious complimentary app. Guava smash for me, fantastic nonalcoholic drink. He got an Albariño, he really enjoyed that recommendation to go with the seared mero. The bread and butter x2 cause we can't resist it! The grilled octopus was fab, tender and the sauce was great. The seared mero was so tender and perfect size after everything. The Thai red snapper which is new on the menu was really large portion, we did have to take it home. The stock with it was really savoury and the salad on the side was nice. Wish it was a tad more flavourful whether stock or fish wise. For dessert I got the sunset and my husband got the burnt almond bombe, both have fantastic presentation. And ofc they gave him a surprise cake and again their cotton candy. Love this place for special events and attention to detail.

Yelp
Food was good minus the incredibly salty king crab legs which were not enjoyable. Drinks were fine. I would suggest wine over liquor here. Ambiance was intimate. Plenty of parking. Service was friendly. Not a fan of the grape flavor cotton candy because it tasted like medicine. Overall? :) Thank you!

Yelp
I've been lucky to eat at The Sea many times over the last decade, originally on a regular-ish schedule due to work dinners and more recently occasionally for celebrations or get togethers. My favorite appetizers: Hamachi shots: the ginger and jalapeño give a kick to the avocado and fish. Loosen it from the bottom and "drink" it like a shot. Lobster rocks: the almond and truffle complement the lobster. I've seen others complain about missing truffle but it was there in May 2024 Popcorn crab: another crowd pleaser. Sriracha belongs in aioli. This appetizer does seem like it's gotten smaller. Grilled octopus: simple and delectable. My mains: John Dory: allegedly wild but definitely delicate and delish. But baby bok choy is a little boring. I've asked for substitutes before. Mero: my fav fish here. The soy-honey glaze makes the dish. Wagyu ribeye: very good but not life changing. Maybe a bit too much sauce. Eat the cotton candy. Some reviews claim The Sea has dropped in quality. The food and the staff are still excellent so hard for me to complain. It's still the best seafood restaurant in the South Bay.

Yelp
We went there for dinner on Thursday night . Great food and great service . The New York steak was cooked to perfection . Moist , tender and juicy inside . Side dish haricot verts in garlic butter is delicious. Grilled sea bass with soy honey glazed with edamame is delicious . Great service and wonderful experience.

Yelp
The vibe is "old, wealthy hunting lodge in the woods" - not a bad thing but a little surprising compared to the Cupertino steakhouse location. It's a little cramped and crowded, which means it gets loud easily. Our party was seated at a table that was too small for the number of people at it, and being in the middle row meant we were constantly bumped into and having to scoot around. Try to get a booth off to the side if you want to be more comfortable. The restrooms are hidden, you'll have to go down a hallway and a set of stairs (or take the tiny elevator) then down another hallway to get to them, which felt a little uncomfortable and creepy to be so isolated from the rest of the restaurant and it didn't look like much foot traffic. I didn't feel very safe in the restroom so next time I may just skip it. Dress code isn't enforced but you'll find most people in business casual or nicer. You might get some stares from other guests if you're on the more casual side but the staff treated everyone with equal respect. The service is impeccable, and that's where the stars in the review come from. The staff are all highly attentive and flexible for any needs you might have. They were able to adapt to a variety of dietary needs for us. Given that it's a seafood restaurant, your options are mainly one of a multiple kinds of fish, or one of a few types of beef. There are more options for alcohol than there are food options. The food was average at best, nothing that really stood out, which again was surprising because the steakhouse location has stellar food. I ended up leaving most of my meal untouched and getting food elsewhere after.

Yelp
Dining at The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse is always such a wonderful experience. The service and food are impeccable and made with such quality! My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for many years, and we never leave disappointed. We love to start off with the lobster rocks and truffle fries. The lobster rocks have an interesting appearance because they are covered in squid ink but trust me they are amazing. Their truffle fries are also some of the best I've had. You can truly taste the truffle in them. I ordered the sea mero and thought it was perfectly cooked and tasted great! (To be honest, every dish was great) I also love the cotton candy they give at the end of every meal! I really do love The Sea and recommend it to anyone who loves seafood!

Yelp
It has been a while since I've been back here. The last was in 2017! My husband brought me here to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted with such eloquence by the two hostess in the reception area and quickly led us to our table. After being seated, I was given a "Happy Birthday" card which was such a nice touch. We were given the wine and drinks menu and shortly after we were greeted by our server, Stephen. As always, the service was superb and the ambience is always romantic. Spacing in between tables was perfect to keep conversations more private at bay. Our order was taken and we were given some bread rolls and garlic biscuits to start off with paired with what looks like butter that was made the night before or that morning. I could tell it was churned fresh. We ordered the steamed mussels, filet mignon and the wagyu strip steak. Oh the steamed mussels were so delicious! The filet mignon and wagyu strip was also very flavorful and tender. I should've asked for medium well, but the medium was soft. We couldn't finish our main course since we were so full from the bread and the mussels. But we did save room for dessert. For dessert we got a complimentary mousse cake for my birthday, and we also ordered this chocolate bombe with devil's food cake and espresso with amaretto ice cream. It was sooooo good. On top of all the sweets, we were presented with a pina colada cotton candy. This is what I always look forward to with any of the Alexander Steakhouse restaurants is the cotton candy. Alexanders and The Sea has always been a part of our celebrations and will continue traditions with them. Thank you for the fantastic service and superb food!

Yelp
We splurged on Valentine's day and came here for a celebratory dinner. Service: There's really only a few experiences I've had in the Bay Area where I felt like the server just held our hand throughout the meal in a way that I felt a bond to them afterwards, and this was one of those experiences. Our server was just top-notch, super friendly/warm, giving us suggestions, making us feel like us enjoying the meal was his number one priority. Ambience: romantic, upscale vibes. Sometimes I find steakhouse atmosphere to be too stuffy, but we had a fun time here. Wine: I was intimated by the enormous book of wine bottles. Just once I would love to dine with someone who orders $1000 bottle wines... I purposefully chose the cheapest wine by the glass and enjoyed it a lot! Food: They start off with a amuse-bouche as well as a small basket/assortment of complimentary bread We also had the grilled octopus as an appetizer, which generally I'm not a huge fan of, but my husband really enjoyed. We both ended up ordering fish for our entrees, though my husband was tempted by the red meat options. Again, our server did a great job explaining the differences between the fish. My husband likes spicier dishes, and also chewier fish- he loved his Monkfish dish. I love buttery/fatty super tender fish, and he recommended their Mero, which was just perfect. I enjoyed the soy glaze, and the bed of chopped vermicelli noodles and edamame that it came on top of. For dessert they gave us a huge complimentary cotton candy . We also ordered the Pretty in Pink panna cotta. I liked that the fruit flavors weren't overpowering, but otherwise the dessert was fairly average. Our neighbors ordered the Burnt Almond Bombe which looked really good! Plenty of parking in the lot.

Yelp
I'd kill a healthy man to be able to eat the mushrooms from here everyday. This was the most amazing, delicious, mind-blowing thing I've eaten here and they have a lot of that going on. These fresh, succulent mushrooms absolutely SHINE when coupled with their exquisitely simple, herbaceous butter sauce. 10/10 will eat this every chance I get. Would go out of my way to have this dish.

Yelp
The food here was decent, but I do think that Alexander's steakhouse is a lot better! I really enjoyed the carpaccio and the tuan tartare, the lobster mac & cheese and calamari was also very good! However, I do have to say that I miss some of the sides that Alexander's steakhouse has. The service here was exceptional, they were very attentive and checked up on us multiple times! The environment was ambient, but much smaller compared to Alexander's steakhouse!

Yelp
We came here for a conference . They provided a prefixed menu so weren't able to everything . This was our first time there and the service was immaculate. Since it was Alexander by the sea , I decided to go with the sea bass. Sea bass was buttery delight. It paired well with miso lemon sauce and vermicelli. The presentation of the edamame and mushrooms depicts a plate from the forest floor . Dessert was good but a little sweet. Ambiance felt like a fine dining restaurant. Here's the menu we ate Mixed Baby Greens meyer lemon / marcona almonds / yuzu vinaigrette Entrée Course select one Catch of the Day miso / lemon / edamame / vermicelli / seasonal mushrooms Dessert Chocolate Strawberry Mousse Cake matcha rice krispies / strawberry gel / vanilla cremeux Instagram: overdarainbow123

Yelp
Came here mid-week for dinner and sat in the bar area. Great ambiance and perfect for a special occasion. I ordered the NY steak which was delicious. The quality of the steak was definitely prime and it was prepared perfectly. The service was excellent as well. Will definitely be back again

Yelp
Haven't been to the Sea for a long time... Lobster rocks -- just as I remembered... delicious pieces of lobster coated in a black batter to appear like rocks. Popcorn crab -- generous amount of crab meat in each bite. Not crab mixture but actual chunks of crab meat ! Seared scallops were seared to perfection n a delicious yellow sauce. Not sure what it was but it was delectable. Certified angus beef New York was also cooked to perfect medium rare. Came with a tangy sauce, spinach and a fruity compote. Brussel sprouts -- I love the ponzu citrus sauce that gave it a zing ! Service is of course incredible. Everything was delicious, flavorful but not over-powering flavors. It's an elegant place to celebrate any special occasions!

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my fiancée's birthday and had the best service! There was a birthday card on the table and we were brought bit of complimentary Prosecco. My fiance and his brother shared today's oysters and both enjoyed it. I ordered the mero because I'm allergic to shellfish and don't eat a ton of red meat. The rest of the table for the cab filet mignon and the surf n turf special upgraded with the Hokkaido wagyu. We also shared sides of the Brussels sprouts and truffle fries. Everyone enjoyed their meal! The fish was a bit sweeter tasting but our server definitely warned me of that! She was so helpful at answering questions and providing detailed information to make sure everyone was super happy. They also brought out a small piece of chocolate cake with a candle and then every table gets some complimentary cotton candy which was so fun and tasty! Will definitely come back for another special occasion

Yelp
Came here for an anniversary dinner on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation on Open Table and the process was super smooth. Stephen (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly) was our server. We had complimentary champagne to celebrate for a toast. I would come back here just for the Hamachi Shots. They are amazing!! My boyfriend ordered the Imperial Wagyu Skirt Steak and I ordered the Wagyu Ribeye and we shared Lobster Fried Rice. Everything tasted so delicious and was so flavorful. I had a glass of merlot that paired perfectly with the ribeye. Service was amazing, food was amazing. I have no complaints! I definitely recommend making a reservation because it does get filled up pretty quickly.

Yelp
The food here is good but not mind blowing for me. I prefer to go the Alexander's steakhouse in Cupertino! The portions here are not as big. The service was amazing though! I cannot recall our server's name but he was very fast with everything and gave us good recommendations!

Yelp
The Sea is my go to for a wonderful surf and turf dinner near home. I have tried numerous dishes, and every one has been absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, cooked and presented. The service is always attentive, prompt and welcoming, but never intrusive. The restaurant itself and the interior have been remodeled since it was the old Polynesian restuarant, Trader Vic's, and it's been tastefully updated with a modern, yet classic and intimate atmosphere and a lovely covered outdoor patio. We had a large group in a private room, with menu options pre-selected, and everyone was very pleased with the service and food. I had the Bluefin Tuna Tataki, filet mignon with asparagus, and strawberry mousse with chocolate sponge, which were beautifully presented, and tasted even better than they looked. Definitely looking forward to coming back and including the Hamachi shots and lobster rocks again soon.

Yelp
TLDR: Food is great, but don't go on a busy weekend night. We went for a celebration today and the food was mostly great. However, the service was exceptionally lacking. Food: Pretty much every item was fantastic except that the octopus was cold for some reason. We had the Hamachi shots, Oysters, Octopus, Popcorn crab, Lobster, Steak and John Dory, along with dessert and coffee. Ambience: It's quite noisy. Not sure if it's the way the restaurant is setup or if the music needed to be louder, but it was super noisy. Service: This is what was lacking the most, not what I expect from a $$$$ restaurant. 1. While we were still sitting down, the junior server asked me 3 times if I wanted cold or regular temp water. I was trying to ask the rest of my table but he kept asking me over and over. I had to ask him to hand on and give us a minute, checked with everyone and then responded with the answer. He then came back and filled the water very quickly, spilling it twice and the rest of the table noticed it too. Not sure why he was in such a tearing rush? 2. John was our main server. He kept rushing off in the middle of us ordering, saying that he would place a part of the order and then be back. We also asked the difference between the Monkfish, the Dory and the Mero, but we weren't able to get the details. We asked him why he was rushing and he explained that the restaurant was super busy. That's fair, but that shouldn't be the reason that guests get subpar service. John definitely took extra care after and even comped a few items when things went awry. That was very nice of him and not expected at all, but things shouldn't have to keep going wrong and then be made up for. 3. I have a dairy allergy which was noted, but I was still served octopus with Parmesan, luckily I double checked before I ate it. 4. There was a running theme of me having to ask if the food had dairy, they never checked beforehand. It happened with the complimentary amuse bouche crostini, the bread and the desserts. 5. The bread was another fiasco. We noticed we had butter knives and assumed there would be a bread serving? We asked about it while we were served appetizers, then once again when we finished. Then they got the bread, but the dairy free cracker was mixed with the dairy bread. Then we had to ask for butter, I mean come on... 6. Lastly, because I was rushed I never got a chance to double check the main order. I wound up receiving the Ribeye instead of the Strip. I was tired of giving feedback, I said it was fine. However, the Ribeye was definitely not Medium as I ordered it, see attached picture. All in all, the food was amazing, but make sure you don't go on a busy Saturday night!

Yelp
I had tasting menu on Christmas eve. [Food] Steamed Abalone: Very nicely cooked to tender texture with a bit of citrus to bring up the flavor. The food was served on a shell that is placed on the top of the ice, which was little hard to eat as the shell didn't stay in place. Seared Scallop: Again, cooked to perfection. Seared to crispy outside, yet tender inside. Ginger sauce felt overwhelming when I tried the sauce on its own, but it goes very well with the scallop. John Dory: Zaalouk (eggplant & tomato) was amazing, but the fish was little bland. Tajima F1 Strip: Flavor was so robust, probably as good as Alexander's Steakhouse or even better. Crushed potato had nice texture with dense flavor of butter. Matcha Mille Feuille: Personally didn't enjoy the combination of matcha and white chocolate. Though pastry of mille feuille had great texture and flavor to it. [Service] - Hardly ever saw the server. - One of the servers who brought out John Dory dish didn't even explain the food. This was not acceptable for a tasting menu IMO. When I politely asked to explain the dish, he made an excuse about being busy and all, but personally I don't think that's a valid excuse. - Asked for medium steak, but came out to be medium-rare. At the end of the day, strip cooked to medium-rare seemed to be the right choice, so I was satisfied with the food, yet still disappointed about the fact that the order wasn't prepared as asked. [Overall] Overall the food was great. I'm a big fan of Alexander's steakhouse, but being able to taste surf and turf in a tasting menu format was a pleasant twist to my usual diet. Service-wise I was very disappointed because Alexander's steakhouse's service has been consistently good for past 10 years I've been there. Also the venue felt little outdated, but that's just a personal preference. I will probably go back to Alexander's steakhouse but the food was undoubtedly good.

Yelp
This is the 2nd time we went to Alexander's celebrate a special occasion. We had a group of 6 and appears you'll need to book about 2 months in advance. They sat our group in the smaller section at the front of the restaurant. We started with a few appetizer which was the sea food tower and fries. Presentation was very nice and fries fresh. The breads were very good as well. Also expected based on my visits to their bakery. The only item that was not so good was the shrimp. They had Minimal texture and didn't seem fresh. We ordered our mains which were either a steal or fish. I had the miso cod but also shared bites of the other dishes. Overall all dishes were very good. Overall I liked the seafood more so than the various meats we ordered. The service overall was very good. Timing, service, presentation and vibes were all in point for us. Another very good experience at The Sea!

Yelp
Came here for my 1th birthday. Heehee Everything was delicious except for the ribeye... which was cooked amazingly but had an incredibly strange sauce that came on the side. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of it, but I definitely found the taste to not be on my spectrum of flavorful. I loved the scallops, loved the truffle fries, loved the Brussels sprouts. Allllll the sides were just amazing! I think the cheese for the Mac n cheese was a tad too watery for me. After waiting for some time, the cheese thickened a bit. But maybe since it's to be eaten with lobster, the Mac n cheese is supposed to be more liquid-y. Scallops, had this awesome awesome boing-y texture and I loved biting into it. It had this beautiful yellow sauce that I dipped my bread in as well as the Brussels sprouts in. My goodness. The complimentary bread. The croissants, the bacon bites with greens were sooooo amazingly delicious. The butter comes in this beautiful cup and is silky smooth. Requires minimal effort to scoop it and rub it all over them buns. Truffle fries, I smelled them at another table and I had to get em. Sooooo soooo delicious!!! One of the cheaper items on the menu, so you must try!

Yelp
What an overall great dining experience, I was surprised by the large portions, our service was excellent and never felt like we needed more attention. We loved the food and the dessert. Ambiance was classy, and we enjoyed a quiet meal. Thank you to all the restaurant staff, well done!

Yelp
Ambiance: luxurious and very comforting Service: The staff throughout was very professional. They greet you and make sure you have a comfortable time. Our server Jon (sorry if I misspelled your name), was excellent. He was humorous yet so professional. He helped guide us with the menu and ensured that we were satisfied with each item! His hospitality was very heartwarming, which greatly contributed to a memorable experience. We hope to have time as our server again in the near future! Chef Pratik dishes are phenomenally plated and executed beautifully. His staff is well composed and create such a hospitable experience. Food: we ordered a lot of delicious dishes from the menu and to name a few of my favorites: - get the oysters! They were so clean to the palate and so good! - hamachi shots are a classic! Will always be my favorite and continue to be - beef tartare was so well done and never knew it would pair so nicely with pomegranate gazpacho - the lobster rocks, phenomenal because the texture and temperature was on point!!! - winter wonderland dessert: amazing!!! All the dishes were so delicious! I can't wait to come back!!!

Yelp
Had a dinner as part of private event on a weekday night . We had a special menu for a 4 course dinner. They have private event hall on the 1 floor lower than the main restaurant. I got tomato bisque soup to start with. This followed by excellent vegan ravioli with green beans and mashed potatoes on the side . Had the vegan ravioli for the first time anywhere and it was great. This followed by strawberry chocolate mouse cake which was ok . Finally had a cup of decaf cappuccino . Overall food and service was excellent

Yelp
Of the best dinners I ever had. As a person that doesn't eat meat this restaurant is perfect for me. Everything we ordered was so delicious. Our server was great and even got for us for birthday cake. Highly recommend !!!!!!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the service is immaculate. A well curated experience with professionalism without pretentiousness. Details were well considered and the team flowed well with a perfectly paced meal. The meal, though, stuck me as slightly generic. Nothing creative, visionary, or exciting. That is fine, and they were delicious, but $200 for the set menu seems unreasonably expensive for just a set of 5 well executed dishes. I would expect this price warrants more adventure and experience within the food itself.

Yelp
My family and I came here for a holiday dinner. This is our second time here, the ambiance was beautiful as always. We ordered hamachi shooters, absolutely fresh and delightful. We also ordered octopus, mussels, and scallops, but it wasn't anything special. The truffle fries are to die for, and the dipping sauce complimented so well. 100% would recommend ordering it!! 4/7 of us ordered the waygu ribeye and the meat was super tender and perfectly cooked. I would say though, I didn't enjoy the miso sauce it came with. I personally thought it tasted like Kepwie sesame dressing and would've preferred something more savory and less sweet with my ribeye. Though the meat was great, the sides weren't exciting. The grilled romaine was just soft and the bitter herbs were just kimchi. To my surprise, they don't have mashed potatoes to order which was disappointing. The rest of my family got the seared mero and maine lobster. I think they thoroughly enjoyed their meals. For dessert, we got the banana cream puffs, rise' n shine and pretty in pink. The banana cream puffs were a hit, the ice cream was so yummy. The rise' n shine was a soufflé, the flavor was fine but it was too eggy and wasn't fluffy at all. The pretty in pink was a panna cotta and it was pretty average. The service was beyond excellent, and our waiter Steven very kind and attentive. Would recommend coming here, maybe just order your waygu ribeye sauce on the side :)

Yelp
My experience at Sea by Alexander's was in a word, odd. The restaurant decor is nice and provides an upscale vibe. I also appreciate that there was an option for a tasting menu as well as a la carte. The wines by the glass menu was small and only had five options for red, all priced in the $20 to $28 range for what I found to be a short pour. Service was good. I liked that an amuse bouche and bread with butter were provided complimentary. My meal is where things went wrong. For an appetizer I ordered the tuna tartare. It came with saffron rice (why?) and so much yuzu that it tasted like marmalade. The yuzu was entirely overwhelming. Next was the beef tataki. It came with edamame, large chunks of tofu, a hard boiled egg, pickles, and a huge ring of mustard. It was a very disjointed dish. At least the beef was quality but the rest of those ingredients were unnecessary. Up next was the grilled lobster with parsnip purée and yes, more oddly placed edamame. The lobster and purée were good but didn't go well with the edamame. At the end of the meal, each table is brought a complimentary cone of cotton candy. Strange but fun. Overall I was unimpressed with Sea by Alexander's ingredient pairings but the quality of the meat and seafood was obvious. Perhaps I'll give it another try in the future if the menu changes.

Yelp
My sister took me here for my birthday dinner on a Sunday night and it was soooo good! I was even given a birthday card from the Resturant which I thought was nice The service was excellent, quiet and intimate space and the food was all delicious! We had a little booth close to the kitchen so I liked our seating arrangements I had Monk and a berry cocktail and we ordered hamachi shots and lobster rocks for appetizers with a side of fries. For entrees we had the Miso black cod and filet mignon and for dessert I had a little birthday treat and cotton candy! Parking: ample parking I highly recommend coming here for a special event!

Yelp
We got three appetizers for the table; the portion of tuna was really small, the lobster rocks were dry. And the beef carpaccio had two bread flats. I ordered the fish special and it was dry (for $95). This restaurant is way over priced for the portion sizes and quality of the food.

Yelp
We had a company holiday party in a private room in the back. The service was really great and hospitable. There were tables with chairs and standing bars throughout the room. A meat carving station is a must, of course. They served us prime rib and boy was it juicy and tender. There were so many dishes to eat but everything I tasted was excellent! However, if I was to return again, I would definitely re-order those halibut shooters, that was my fav fav of the night! NOTES: Lots of parking. Beautiful restaurant for celebrations.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Service was great. Everything was great. We went for a surprise dinner for my boyfriend. Our waiter was wonderful, very friendly. Yes it was expensive (I think for a party of four total came to around $400-500 pre tip) but the price is a given with Alexanders. Food was really good though and we were not disappointed by the experience. Obviously not an everyday thing for most people, but definitely worth to experience at least once if it's within means.

Yelp
good food, great service. but knocked a star off bc they gave us someone else's bag of leftovers. i expect better communication and the correct food considering we spent almost $800 on our bill.
