"There isn’t a bad seat in the house at the Seafarer, the waterfront bar where most of the tables sit on sand and the imported palm trees lend the place a “Margaritaville” vibe. Order a platter of clams from the food truck in the parking lot, grab a tropical cocktail, and if you visit on a weekend, settle in for some live music." - Marion Brewer

We had our daughter’s graduation party at the Seafarer and it was such a fabulous vibe!!! Harrison, the manager and Kate the event coordinator were just awesome!! They were very accommodating, organized, genuinely warm people to do business with! The food by Cut and Catch was dynamite!! Junior and his staff did an amazing job! All our guests said EVERTHING was delicious!! The drinks were fantastic as well!! Thank you all at the Seafarer and Cut and Catch for a beautiful memorable evening!

Google
My favorite beach bar!!! Harrison (the manager) is the most kind and professional, he recently helped me plan an intimate birthday party for my husband and went above and beyond to make it special despite the rainy weather. This place is fun - with awesome food and drinks and a positive energy, the views can't be beat!

Relax in the middle of the marina and enjoy. You won't need much more then they provide.

Had a lovely night here with my mother and sister. It was a slow Friday night after Labor Day weekend. There was live music, and a fire pit! The vibes were definitely up. It was relaxing and a great spot for some drinks by the water. When the weather is warm I’m sure this place is packed, I’ll definitely be coming here next spring and summer! What a hidden gem of a spot!

Google
Really cool bar! Love the edition of the river boat. It’s only open for private parties. But the rest of the bar is still really cool. My friends and I love to sit by the fire pits when it’s chilly. I appreciate how they don’t have a cover. Some of these Jersey bars charge covers and it’s ridiculous. But I can come here for free and listen to live music!

Google
Will definitely be coming back often to this place. Beautiful location to go have a drink with friends, or grab a quick bite. The food at the attached truck was good and came fast. The bartenders were all really friendly. Good selection of local beers and other drinks. There is a dock seating area, a sandy seating area, and a covered area that is dog friendly as well. They had live music while we were there, which raised the atmosphere even more.

My husband and I eloped and had a party at the Seafarer to celebrate with our loved ones and it was truly magical! Local Smoke BBQ was phenomenal and everyone raved about the food. Communication with Local Smoke was equally as great! With the venue, Harrison was there for me every step of the way and I feel like I miss him now that planning is done, lol. Rob was so helpful on the day of and made everything run so smoothly. My family and friends couldn't believe how perfect everything was. If you plan on having a party for any occasion, I highly recommend having it at the Seafarer!

Google
My husband and I have only been here once, but we have nothing bad to say about it. There's a beautiful view of the water, sand beneath your feet, live music, delicious food, and great drinks. What more could you want? We ate the chips and guac and the veggie burger and both were delicious. Love that they have great beer options from two local craft breweries. We will definitely be back.

Rebekah M.

Yelp
Such a fun sandbar for the summer months. They always have something on the calendar and golden hour is gorgeous here.

Alivia D.

Yelp
Perfect spot to sip on a drink with your toes in the sand. Beautiful view and a great vibe. We kept my toddler entertained with the ping pong table and we got to listen to an awesome band. Drinks are a little pricey, but considering there is no cover charge for live music, we were happy to enjoy a few beverages. Will definitely be back to finish off another beach day!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
We had a great happy hour at the Seafarer Bar. This has to be one of my favorite chill spots in the Highlands. You can't beat the view, vibes and bbq from the Local Smoke food truck. The drinks are good as well. Make sure to check online to see which band is playing before you go. Highly recommend checking out The Seafarer if you're in the area.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Moving The Seafarer to 4 stars...wonderful location for live music, excellent views and cocktails. Soda mix and service has drastically improved. Would love more tables with umbrellas. Folks who work there are so pleasant...awesome locale for a day or evening out.

John R.

Yelp
Cool spot on the water for drinks. Good selection of canned seltzers and draft beers. IPAs were a little pricey, about $10. Single bathrooms for mens and womens so expect a line. Overall, great spot.

Matt P.

Yelp
The Highlands is a highly (all puns intended) underrated portion of the Garden State. Summer is the obvious vibe, but there's something about early autumn that just hit different. On an unrelated note, the foodtruck by the bar was insanely good. Super friendly service to boot.

Marc K.

Yelp
Nice chill spot on the water. Full bar. Some shaded area set which is dog friendly. Supposedly that's the only spot for dogs but I saw a few people with dogs on the pier /deck. Food was a Local Smoke. Had brisket sandwich and roasted clams. Both pretty good

Erin M.

Yelp
Used to love this place. Recommended it to all my friends. Had the unfortunate experience of coming here on a Tuesday afternoon? When they apparently have a Baby Time or something? I went in the late afternoon to relax with a drink and some cool music and instead it was like being plopped in the middle of a song-a-long at Mommy and Me. It was awful and a drag and I'll never go back and I'm so sad because I loved the Seafarer but I guess that's how it goes.

J L.

Yelp
2 drinks for a total of $40????? & no cash payment option - They can add anything to your credit card and you would not know until the charge is posted!

Frances B.

Yelp
So happy to see the Seafarer open for the season. I love the casual ambience, the river views, the varied seating configurations. And I was delighted to meet Junior and hear how he has revamped the food truck menu with local food and a variety of vegetarian offerings along with the standards.

Ric T.

Yelp
The air is beautiful coming off the bay. The weather is devine this autumn day, the beer is local, and the food is from local smoke bbq. What's new here, is a tent that has 8-10 well-spaced tables. Only credit cards are permitted, a cashless place. Pet friendly. Deck and sand tables spread out at this marina.

Lee C.

Yelp
Good place to get a drink and relax near the water. Only one food option (Local Smoke BBQ) but apparently you can bring in your own. Beer prices are a little pricey and the bar service is a little slower as it gets busier.

Damian D.

Yelp
Million dollar view, cold drinks, friendly staff, food pretty good-just about what you want dining and drinking 'down the shore'.

Traci H.

Yelp
Lovely, lovely spot. We were there for a gorgeous Friday night happy hour. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Limited drink menu, but we're not fancy. PBRs, IPA and an aperol spritz did the trick. So many seating options. Food truck snacks were delicious. The smoked bacon poppers were the best, get 2 orders. Prices for drinks and food reasonable for the shore. Loved that the crowd was mixed couples, families, kids, pups! Great music and a perfect sunset made for a pretty awesome night.

Yelp
6/18/2020 The bar is open every day!!! Check Facebook or Insta for exact hours but if ya show up at 3 or later you are good. No reservations required yet, but check the socials for updates. Music is on a live entertainment is scheduled. Yes! There is food! The food truck has bbq and will post daily specials on their social medias. Great views of the boats in the marina and of Sandy Hook, this might be our new post beach bar!

Brandon E.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Now, we went on a random Thursday with 2 kids so it was hardly busy, but I definitely want to come back when they have live music. The view can't be beat, fire pits, hammocks, benches, plenty of space and just a fun overall vibe. They have one food truck which we didn't try, maybe add another? I love the selection of local beers and even a solid light beer (Shiner Light). The bartender was incredibly friendly and we felt welcome right away. For right now I can't say a whole lot because my 16 month old threw a tantrum and we left, but what a cool, chill spot that I can't wait to come back and give it a go in the evening. PS- Happy hour is 3-6, nice long one!

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
This bar is EXCELLENT.... We met the owner in our condo building and he invited us to the bar. Great music, food & family friendly atmosphere. This is a seasonal place and we're looking forward to summer season 2024..... GREAT BAR !!!!

Yelp
HIGHLANDS: if you want to have a staycation in NJ, then make sure The Seafarer Bar is on your list to visit! An all-outdoor bar with a tropical and colorful setup, dogs are allowed in the Skipper's dog patio. The patio is covered by a tent and includes the craft beer bar. You can also order at the main bar for cocktails and the food truck for a meal, but dogs must stay on the patio, so take a friend with you to help at the bar. The doggie area has picnic tables and a cozy lounge area with Mexican blankets and our bartender brought Brie a bowl of water. This is the type of place you find while on a trip to an island!

Sarah R.

Yelp
My favorite place to come over the summer, I get a cocktail, a pulled pork sandwich and feel like I'm on vacation 15 minutes from home. Excellent gathering spot. We even had an impromptu birthday party for my toddler here. Always lots of kids running around but there's enough space that if you're looking for a childless night the kids won't bother you. Looking forward to many more summer nights here.

Mickey C.

Yelp
Absolutely the best bar in Monmouth County ! Drinks are unique and affordable and views of nyc are always the best way to end a long work

Rich M.

Yelp
Mike made me one juiccccy spicy margarita. I'm fairly picky and he overdelivered.! Recommend stopping in for amazing views. Live music and family friendly too. .. happy 4th ! Almost.

Chelsea W.

Yelp
My husband and I love it here. You seriously cannot beat the view! They make any drinks with shaved ice, how cool is that. Also, Local Smoke was a great addition from previous years.

Henry R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with phenomenal drinks! Please go there if you are in the area. Yes drink prices are on the higher side, but for us it's worth it for the gorgeous scenery and free live music! They have live music almost every night during the summer! And some special events like the luau which my whole family enjoys!

Braden B.

Yelp
This place has it all: location, music, great drinks, and laid back atmosphere. My wife had her 40th birthday party here and it was a night we will never forget. Remember Jones and Quincy Mumford put on an amazing performance. The staff was friendly and helpful and went over the top. Truly an incredible memory for our family and friends. Thank you Rob and team!

Javier M.

Yelp
Amazing place, I was recently told of this little seasonal gem in the highlands. Place is in a great location with great views of Sandy Hook and at night time a good view of lower Manhattan. The bar specializes in local brews and the fact that is dog friendly is an added bonus. Highly recommend this seasonal spot

Megan K.

Yelp
Amazing bartender, delicious drinks and bomb ass atmosphere!!! We will definitely be back.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Really a fun place, my wife and I love it, and everyone there is so nice. Can't wait to get back there in 2021....

Thomas S.

Yelp
I write only 1s and 5s guys and I cant stop coming to this place. First of all...the drinks are served in Mason jars...which means you are getting the most for your money. I like negronis....so imagine a negroni in a Mason jar. Incredible value. Maybe I need 2 when I come here! Ok, 2nd....this guy Mike on the Grill is legit. He uses only the freshest fish, chicken, shrimp and veg around. His technique using hardwood grills produces the best flavor around. This guy is a master and I come here on the regular for his specialties. Dont sleep on this joint. The bartenders are on point and there is an easy parking lot!!!!

Jack R.

Yelp
After hibernating in the man cave since October it felt good to get out on the first gorgeous day of the season. Stopped by here having no idea what to expect and could not have been more happy that we did!!! This place gets it right, from its ice cold beer, to its delectable mixed drinks and it's mouthwatering food!!! This place is an outdoor setting so make sure the weather is decent and enjoy some great tunes in a super friendly relaxing chill waterfront location. Kudos to Chef Mike for the simple but exquisite fish dinner!!!

Steve M.

Yelp
Love the Seafarer, total chill spot, everyone is awesome, can't wait for the Luau! Michelle is the bomb, Seafarer would not be the same without her!

Abby H.

Yelp
Little pricey, but hands down the best fish tacos in highlands, and I've eaten them everywhere. Beer choices are veritable, often from local breweries, or microbrews from around the country, which is hard to find in this little clam town. The view is spectacular and the ambiance matches. Bring your dog to the dog friendly area of the restaurant or come with friends and huddle around the fireplace and watch the kite surfers as the sun sets. You can't go wrong with a trip to the seafarer.

Dori W.

Yelp
If you plan on going here make sure you call wayyy ahead of time to ensure they're open. Called around 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday to see if they had any slots open, no answer. I checked their website and it said that they were open, so I took a chance anyway and drove about an hour with family to try it out after hearing some good reviews. Their hours are marked as being open from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Got there about 7:00 p.m. and the place was closed. There was no sign nor social media postings about an early closure. I understand that things pop up, but most businesses that care about clientele at least advise their customers of an early closure.

David B.

Yelp
Went last year several times and always had a nice time. Wonderful location on the water in the Highlands. Recently went back this year. The atmosphere is still great. Prices on drinks have gone up. A draft beer from the beer truck, in a medium plastic cup was $9.00. And the beer was flat! I think they were having problems with air in the lines. The food truck chef needs big time help! There were only 3 items on the menu, and it read: hamburger, chicken and pig. thats it. and when we ordered chicken he said it was a 2 hour wait . . . seriously. A hamburger with no sides, chips or french fries is $15.00. When questioning the chef we got major tude as well. Great location but they need to get their act together, especially the food truck. If your listening, know what you are; you're a food truck, not fine dining.

Lars N.

Yelp
Hidea at the food truck made my evening! She was sweet and so accommodating. Will absolutely come back not just for the good atmosphere, but her!

Luigi T.

Yelp
Shouldn't write a review. Don't want the Benny's finding out. Traffics building Tony. Better get on the road!

Angelica A.

Yelp
Visited the Seafarer with my boyfriend & his parents on a Sunday evening. It's a great place for the entire family. Nice view, plenty of seating options, drinks are good- did not have any of the food ($10 for a hot dog, no thanks). Live music and hula dancers. Looking forward to the next visit

Lauren F.

Yelp
Such a lovely spot to hang out! It's a super mellow place where you can grab a drink and chill. Amazing music!!! They had a little band when we got there and they were just right...beach vibe, not too loud, really chill. Beautiful view of the water and cozy little books to relax in the sand or on the dock. Love the look and design of it all. I gave it only 4 stars because they definitely need some improvement: 1. Drinks are way too expensive. 2. They need waiter service walking around to fetch drinks/food for customers. 3. The food truck needs more options. While I LOVED and appreciated that they offered gluten free options (thank you!) it was obvious that things were purchased in bulk at Costco (veggie burger, guacamole, chips). There were strange sautéed onions on everything that added no flavor or taste. The chicken tacos were terrible, the chicken over cooked and dry with a weird sauce. The plates of food were mostly just a mound of Cape Cod potato chips. Our bill for 4 little baskets of food was $42, not cool. We left hungry. 4. The food truck is really fun and cool, especially with the twinkling lights, but man it needs some tidying up! You can see inside and it was just a disaster. Not appealing to be ordering food from. It needs some order and a good clean up. The outside had some plants that were dying and dry. With some efforts the "charm" of he truck can really be brought back! :)

Patty P.

Yelp
Such a cute little beach bar in Atlantic Highlands. Enjoyed a tall rum punch while listening to calypso music playing. There is a food truck on location which I did not visit, however the rotisserie chickens looked and smelled delicious. Truly enjoyed and plan on returning soon

Tam S.

Yelp
This is a perfect place to have a completely relaxing time with great people, good food from a cool food truck and wonderful libations. I recently spent some time at this establishment and found it to be a lovely little power spot in a very organic, low key way. I will be returning.

Diane B.

Yelp
Found this little gem while my boyfriend and I were driving around the Highlands one night and was happily surprised! We grabbed a burger and chicken fingers from the food truck which were good, but the drinks were even better! For me there's nothing better than being right by the water, in the sand, with a live band, and fire pits! If you like the same thing then you have to give this place a try!!

Chris P.

Yelp
Great prices, very relaxed, kind of like you're in your own backyard. The staff is friendly and live music on the water is always good.

Tiffany F.

Yelp
This place is great! As a beach girl this reminds me of my neighborhood beach parties where I grew up! Local vibe, not over crowded, beautiful sunset view. You can take your shoes off and put your toes in the sand and relax. Bar staff (Michelle) and management working hard pumping out awesome fresh cocktails- I'm pregnant but the mocktail was great ;) Chef mike on the grill holding it down! So cool being able to watch your food being cooked on the open fire pit - the wait is welllll worth it, Not over priced! Definitely the BEST corn I have ever had! The half chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy charred skin from the grill. This tucked away little gem is the perfect spot to just chill and listen to great music. ( like one of the last reviews written lets keep it LOCAL :) !! respect the bar and always tip !

Catherine E.

Yelp
I love this place, you can't beat the atmosphere, the staff the food or the drinks! It's a great place to come and hang out plus, the music is always awesome. This is exactly the kind of place the highlands needed. There is just one problem, every time I'm there which is probably once a week or every other week it feels like I'm at a day care. I understand everyone wants to go out and have a good time, with views like this, I can't blame anyone who wants to go The Seafarer. This is a great place to come and enjoy the local views, food and vibes. However this is challenging to do when the number of children outnumber the adults.I wish they would instate some kind of curfew for under 21 (toddlers included) to help uphold the atmosphere and environment they've created.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere. The food was amazing just a lot pricier than excepted. We paid $20 for chicken that didn't come with any sides. Regardless we will be back just not as hungry!

Mara N.

Yelp
A cool place to sit , listen to music and have a drink. It's fun to people watch , mixed crowd. Lots of celebrations and buses of people from weddings for after party.

Vincent S.

Yelp
I spend 5 nights per week entertaining at restaurants throughout NY and NJ. I have no complaints at all about the food. However, the bar service was horrendous. I found the bartenders to be extremely rude. Specifically, the bartender with Red curly hair was very arrogant, very rude and was agitated about any request we made. People look forward to unwinding and having a good repor with bartenders. This is one place I would never ever recommend unless you want to feel unwelcomed and have a miserable evening.

Sean S.

Yelp
I live in highlands ..rode our bikes over and Sat at the bar and asked for some napkins...bartender said they are over by the food truck?..really!..my girlfriend asked for a water..yes Water!..and the bartender gave her a plastic cup with ice and told her the water was over by the tap beer I think!..unbelievable!..you walk up to a bar and they don't have napkins!!..or water!!..this place is not going to last ...$12 for a weak drink in a mason jar..never mind the fact that they don't have Tito's or Budweiser ..and the food truck is a complete disaster ..overpriced and totally unprofessional operation..Never going back ...

Emily K.

Yelp
Great place. Great people. Love the food truck addition and the staff is amazing. Highly recommend
