Beautifully decorated restaurant in and out! The staff were very friendly despite the crowd. Service was surprisingly fast but with that being said I was disappointed with my Salmon and Leek (22€) and fries (4€). It seems like they weren’t freshly cooked that night. Both were served just warm and the salmon was a bit overcooked for me. For the price, I was hoping for better food quality. However, I did enjoy the Bloody Mary with oyster cocktail (14€). It was perfect🫶🏽 Better to reserve in advance!

Google
Absolutely amazing. The food was incredible and our server, Nikita, was really friendly and helpful and a credit to the restaurant. Made for a fabulous last evening in Amsterdam. Thank you. Thoroughly recommend The Seafood Bar (especially if you love seafood).

Richard Knowlton

Google
The Seafood Bar exceeded our expectations in every way. The seafood options were very diverse, from traditional raw bar to pan fried, broiled or baked. Try the combination. It is a wonderful selection of raw and cooked seafood. Better still, come with four people and let two order the combination and the other two order lobster bisque and starters. It will be enough!

⭐ The Seafood Bar – Fresh, classy, and unforgettable! One of the best seafood meals I’ve had in Europe! 🦞🦐 Everything was super fresh – from the oysters to the grilled fish platter. The presentation was elegant, the flavors were spot-on, and the portions were generous. The ambiance is stylish yet relaxed, perfect for both casual lunches and special dinners. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, especially when recommending wine pairings. 🍷 A must-try for seafood lovers visiting Amsterdam! Make sure to book in advance – it gets busy fast!

Google
This is the first time we visit Amsterdam, we enjoyed the seafood a lot and luckily we book the table as they are very busy on the Saturday evening. Unfortunately we are not a big eater, so we only ordered a combination platter to share. It always wonderful and the seafood tastes so fresh. *we got a free calamari + fish as starter and free glasses of champagne today as they celebrate their anniversary* Thanks and Happy Anniversary 😊

Google
The service was great, as soon we approached to the restaurant they give us attention, we didn’t have to wait for a table. The food was good, we follow the recommendations since we were new over there and the swordfish dish was so so, but the codfish with asparagus was very tasty, the octopus was good but I little bit overcooked the potatoes that come with it was really good, and we liked the sweet potatoes and calamari.

Google
We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! From the food and ambiance to the attentive staff, everything exceeded our expectations. We happened to visit on their 13th anniversary and were pleasantly surprised with complimentary champagne and oysters to celebrate. Our waiter, Irvin, was exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. He guided us through the menu, helped us choose delicious appetizers and main courses, and even shared some great recommendations for other restaurants around the city. We highly recommend this place and are already considering coming back tomorrow. A memorable dining experience all around!

Google
Wonderful experience. Irvan was great. Its s must to try a little bit if everything. Service was outstanding. Patience is key if the place feels crowded. You will end up with a table pretty soon. 117 wine included for two is fine. Will definitely come back for the oysters happy hour.

Yelp
There are more than one location so be sure to double check the address. We accidentally went to the first "The Seafood Bar" we saw. We are a family of seafood eaters and everything we had was fresh and delicious. Our server was the best we had during our trip. Friendly and personable. We enjoyed the seafood tower for two and the grilled salmon.

Yelp
We were a group of 16 people including senior and young kids visiting Amsterdam in late July. Since we were a big party, I have been communicating with Frank of the customer service to secure my reservation on 7/29 at the Ferdinand Bolstraat 32 location. Everyone had high expectation of enjoying a night of amazing seafood dinner as the restaurant is highly recommended by Yelp or Tripadvisor reviewers. And also after a day long of visiting the city. We would like to have a nice meal right the way. Unfortunately, there was a mis-communication that our reservation wasn't on their list. After showing the on-site manager my confirmation email, they quickly made an arrangement by asking us going to the Spui 15 location. Everything was communicated to the staff (Jack) in that location. It was a relief that they can quickly found a solution for us. They asked us to take taxi and the restaurant will reimburse back. In addition, the first drink and dessert will be free to accommodate the inconvenience. After struggling to get taxi for 16 people under the rain the day, we safely arrived the restaurant and quickly seated. All the staff especially Jake service was wonderful and he make sure all of us were taken good care of. Food was great and we had a great dinner. The only thing that hasn't been resolved was the taxi reimbursement. Jake explained to us that the reimbursement must go through finance team. He got my taxi receipts and email. Telling me that the finance team will email me with the way to get money back. It has been almost a month and I hear no word from anyone of the restaurant. I do check junk email and see nothing. Lesson learn is make sure to get some sort of write-up to confirm the restaurant will reimburse the money or get it deducts directly from the bill. In Summary, restaurant service and food is great although the price is on the high side. ** A quick update to the review. The Seafood Bar team contacted me right after the review to follow up on the transportation reimbursement. It was nice seeing their quick response!

Yelp
Cool spot! The fish was fresh and yummy. I had the combination- mackerel, salmon, crap ( the crab was mixed more like a crab salad, I wasn't feelin' that!!!! ). The ambiance was nice and matched the excellent, friendly service. Bottom line - Check this spot out! It's worth the visit!

Yelp
I wasn't feeling too well so ended up not getting any seafood, which was a bummer. I ended up just ordering the pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage sauce and that was amazing. Would def come back to try the seafood!

Yelp
This was one of the worst seafood dining experiences I have ever had. This restaurant had high reviews and most all of what we ordered either was undercooked (the entire lobster) slimy and sour tasting, the shrimp/prawns were musty and the crawfish were uneditable. Very disappointed after spending $165 euros on a meal. If you are looking for fresh tasting seafood I would not recommend getting This dish. The vibe here is great, excellent atmosphere and great staff. Very accommodating yet we did not share the meal was horrible.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. Vanessa was awesome we said we weren't to hungry and she helped us order. The seafood was lovely the oysters were our favorite so we ordered a few more! Thanks goes to the service and staff.

Yelp
Our experience was just as good as the first time we went, which was at a different location. We happened to pop in during happy hour and was able to get oysters basically half off. We were seated immediately despite not having a reservation. 2 dozen oysters, Fruits de Mer for 2 and 5-6 drinks later, our total ended up being around ~150 euros for 3 people. Personally, I felt it was worth it because we would've spent way more in the US, likely double + tips. The food was really good, we were stuffed by the time we left. Service was fine, our server was friendly but not too attentive. Highly recommend if you like seafood!

Yelp
A very clean restaurant. We did make reservations the day before since we saw it packed the previous nights we walked by. The staff are efficient and nice. We had the Lobster Soup and Crab Cakes to share. The Lobster soup wasn't really as creamy as I'm used to but still good. The crab cakes were underwhelming. For our main course, we split the mixed grill platter which had shrimp, squid, salmon, prawns mussels and sea bass filet. All were well cooked and flavorful, although the sea bass filet still had plenty of bones which made it difficult to eat.

Yelp
The oysters were great and service and portion size excellent Recommend you try it if you are in the area

Yelp
I'm shocked. This restaurant is not only highly recommended on yelp, but if you research good restaurants in Amsterdam this restaurant will likely be in the top ten of the list. That said...maybe I was there on an off day? First I will say that their service was mostly attentive and very friendly. I enjoyed the service. I love seafood. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest where I have access to fresh shellfish and fantastic salmon, cod, trout, bass and a nice selection of seasonal fish so maybe my expectations are just high? Anyway, I didn't know when I'd be able to return here so I ordered the fruits de mer for 1. The presentation was nice. However, everything on the plate had a bitter, metallic taste. The clams were the size of my nail. Where I'm from it's not even legal to harvest them this small. They tasted bitter. The periwinkle's had a metallic taste. It was off putting. The crab was so odd. The meat inside the shell came out almost chopped into tiny pieces. Not quite a purée but I'll say I couldn't pull out a whole piece of meat because it was shredded in the inside. Don't ask me how that happens. I've never seen that sort of thing in a crab before. The taste was also not fresh. So I moved on to the tiny fried shrimp with the head on. That was both bitter and metallic. The only things that didn't taste bad were the mussels and the crab salad. Then when I got home I wound up with an awful stomach ache that caused me to not be able to leave my hotel for about 24 hours....which was when I was scheduled to leave Amsterdam. Needless to say, I'm disappointed.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday night and got seated fairly fast at the bar. It is a great setting for a group gather, family putting outing or dates. My friend and I got the fruits of the sea (7/10) to share. The platter is huge and it was plenty to share between two girls. I think for the most part, the seafood was fresh but it's definitely a bit pricy. We also got a mule (10/10) which was refreshing and delicious. Our bartender was so nice and let us try the Sgroppino (10/10). We ended up ordering the sgroppino at the end of our meal, which was a nice finish.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch while on vacation. Delicious seafood, fun, trendy place! The seafood is super fresh. Great spot to stop for a meal when you're in Amsterdam.

Maxine C.

Yelp
Not only is the restaurant inviting and warm, but the food is so delicious. We had the grill seafood tower and our only complaint was that we ran out of bread to soak up the red sauce. Honestly so flavorful.

Saadia A.

Yelp
Randomly walked in and was happy with my food selections. After listening to the waiter's recommendations, I chose two appetizers: the lobster soup and octopus. The octopus was my fav. I had the Paloma mocktail which was very refreshing. Staff were attentive and the meal was reasonably priced. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
First time at this location. I remember the food being better at the other location. Had a dozen of oysters. All good. Had a mixed grill where the crayfish and big shrimp of the same size were mushy.l = not fresh:l. I want to say those killed my stomach after. Everything else seems good till my tummy wasn't feeling great and I enjoy seafood! Service was good. Too bad about my meal.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
We ordered the mixed crustacean grilled for 2. Every item on the plate tasted bad. It had a musty taste. The only thing that partly masked it was smothering it in mayo the lobster was way under cooked. We spent 144 on this mean and maybe ate a 1/4 of the meal. I can't fathom how this place is so well reviewed. Where I'm from the seafood does not taste like this. Service was ok and friendly. But the seafood was not good.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place. Good vibe , good service. Had the seafood tower! Was good, maybe I'll try the cooked seafood tower in the future

Yelp
We came here twice while in Amsterdam. Our first trip we tried the Combination, which is combo of hot cooked mixed grill and cold seafood called Fruits de Mer. It is plentiful and you do get a good mix of seafood. Even though we are not big fans of pealing shellfish, cracking crab and digging out lobster meat we thought we'd give it a try. The food was pretty good. We especially enjoyed the hot mixed grill but frankly fiddling with the cold seafood wasn't our thing. What we were able to manage to crack, peal and dig out was good. Our service was excellent and even though the place was busy, our table was ready for us (we had reservations). The website says they hold 40% of their tables for walk-ins but they were turning people away who didn't have a reservation. Highly recommend making a reservation. On our second visit was a totally different experience. Maybe because it was Kings Day and it was super busy, but the service was off. Very slow. We sat at our table for 30 min before getting water and service. Once we were able to order, we got the "Nordic Blu" Salmon and Fish & Chips. The salmon was dry and way overcooked. The fish and chips was cooked perfectly and it was a generous size. However, the restaurant had no malt vinegar. It's a Fish & Chips crime not to have malt vinegar. I can see why this place is popular for those that like the large assortment of cold seafood - I'm sure if that's your sort of thing you'll enjoy the place.

Yelp
The Seafood Bar is a small chain of seafood restaurants. This one is in the museum quarter. Full service. They take reservations but reserve some seats for walk-ins. There was a 15 minute wait for a walk-in at 2 pm on a Monday. The food was fairly good. Oysters came with lemon wedges and a mignonette. Mixed grill: most of the items in here were great. The plaice (flat fish) had lots of small bones--I would choose a different fish if I were them. Service was OK, maybe somewhat slow. The place mostly looked nice, although there were lots of flies. Payment: they had a sign that said they don't accept cash. They did take Visa.
google avatar

Yelp
Great mussels. Large, plump, fresh. Every she'll opened. Didn't love the celery in the sauce but I spooned most of the garnish on top out and it was amazing. We also got some bread and fries to share. Fries came with this nice aoili partner liked. Good stop to tide us over.

Snuffles B.

Yelp
Calamari was amazing, razor clams we're a bit overcooked but the sauce was super tasty. The fruits de mer were solid and this is where the bib is a must! The down side is the service is a bit lackadaisical and they forgot about our whole fruits de mer plate until we reminded them , but the they hustled and made it right. Definitely touristy, but I am a tourist and I will jump on any opportunity to wear a Bib for some solid seafood.

Geni C.

Yelp
This place has such an absolutely lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and the food is absolutely fantastic. I had oysters, but kept drooling over the food that they were serving to other patrons.
google avatar

Thomas T.

Yelp
Definitely not my sort of restaurant its ALL seafood which is to no ones surprise given the name. The place is very small and packed with tables so just walking around is a pain plus the service was on the slower side given that it wasn't super busy at the time. I don't eat seafood so I had a beer and the rest of my party ate and really seemed to enjoy it given its short comings.
google avatar

Robert Z.

Yelp
You really have to like seafood to come here. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli which was very good and I had fruits de mer, or seafood bar. It was absolutely delicious, arriving in an array of crustaceans from squid, shrimp, prawns, to snow crab, lobster, and a king crab leg. We also shared the calamari which had a very fresh taste to it even though it was breaded. If I ever visit Amsterdam again I'm definitely coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Walked in, seated immediately. I was watching the lobster tank. My friend ordered a small beer while I was in the toilet. I went back to watching the lobsters. And watching. And watching. And continuing to watch. We were glossed over for close to 45 minutes. We observed some other folks get seated, orders taken, and food delivered. Eventually we left some euros on the table and walked out.

Yelp
Food was ok, but the service really made the food tastes less good than it should. Lower your expectations. Unfriendly service, make sure you look your bill through when you pay, because they might " accidentally " over charge you and won't even apologise for it! We ordered a grilled octopus as starter, a mixed grill for 2 ppl, a beer and a bottle of water. I think overall it's not a small bill, but maybe it didn't meet their expectations, as they were really not nice to us. The waitress who took our order took the order of the table next to us immediately after ours, I could just see the waitress had a totally different attitude towards the next table, because we are foreigners.?Somehow the next table got their food way ahead of us even though they had ordered after us. The starter tasted ok, but very small portion. The mixed grill was ok, but some shrimps were not fully cooked, the waiter said " it can be eaten raw but I will go to the kitchen to make sure they cook it well ", excuse me? It's called mixed grill not sashimi platter. I ordered it because I can not eat raw! Then we wanted some fries, so we told a waiter, 15mins later no fries so we asked him again, he had forgotten.. After all the experience we had we just want to leave soon, not wanting to stay for another drink. We paid and left, but on our way out we realised that they might have over charged us. So we went back to ask for the waiter to check our bill and we were right! So the waiter just give some cash to us, and didn't even apologise. I wanted to say something about their service but I think its useless to say it to someone don't even apologise for what they did.

Yelp
Our experience at The Seafood Bar was excellent. The food was great quality and fresh. We really enjoyed the calamari, oysters, and mussels. Our server Aimee was very friendly, helpful, and even shared a handful of laughs with us. Maurice greeted us at the door, was very friendly, kind and helpful (he personally helped me identify a song that happened to be on his playlist that I had been trying to find for quite some time). Aimee was kind enough to give us a rec on where to see live music that evening and it did not disappoint. Overall The Seafood Bar was a great experience from start to finish, I will certainly return & would recommend to anyone without a second thought.

Yelp
Food was exceptional-ambience was nice and service was top notch. I highly recommend Seafood Bar in Amsterdam. It is conveniently located a half a block from the Concertgebouw, so perfect pre - concert dinner restaurant.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place enough. Vibe is great, super comfortable and modern and lively. Service was top notch. Had the fruits de mer platter with the lobster and it was incredible, insanely fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Popped into Seafood bar when I was exploring Amsterdam and got hungry. They served us with complimentary Prosecco and Oysters for their 10 year anniversary! Outside eating was nice with shady covering. Oysters were delicious. Got the combo fingersnacks, lobster bisque and salmon tartare that were all superb! Great recommendation for a seafood lovers quick snack while adventuring through the city

Yelp
Delicious seafood, tried the combination platter for a mix of hot and cold dishes. They offer happy hour from 3-5pm daily.

Yelp
The food was most excellent and service was awesome!!! Price was average normal! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
How do I start ?? ha .... We came in for lunch without reservations since the website says walk ins available. We were greeted nicely and given a high top table near the entrance of the restaurant. Our waiter then came over and gave us a quick run down of the menu and a couple of specials . The menu has all types of seafood and a full bar. We ordered a mix entree plate that was huge and great. Prices were great and the service was excellent. We enjoyed this place so much that 3 days later we came again. This time i had one off the best fish and chips in a long, long time. and sister had a seafood salad that looked amazing. This location is a bout 3/4 blocks away from the Rikjmuesem and Van Gogh ... very easy to find. Service was a 10 out of 10 Location easy to find 10 out of 10 Service .. 10 out of 10 Food .. amazing .. 10 out of 10

Yelp
After an afternoon of cocktails at the House of Bols we had lunch at The Seafood Bar. The seafood is all freshly caught, but also very expensive. If you avoid the seafood towers and lobster most entrees are under 30 euros. We each ordered a pot of the mussels. For 20 euros you get a heaping pot of mussels cooked in your choice of broth. My husband opted for the classic French style in white wine, garlic and cream while my sister and I selected the Asian style in coconut milk, lemongrass and coriander. I loved the combination of mussels in coconut milk and the lemongrass and coriander added such a pleasant fragrance to the dish. After pairing the meal with side salads and fries we left stuffed. While I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here I would recommend this spot if you're in the area visiting other sights. It's one of the better rated restaurants in the area and the mussels are delicious!

Yelp
excellent mussels and espresso martinis. sat at the bar on a weekend afternoon and it was pleasant and speedy.

Yelp
By far one of the best seafood restaurants not only in Amsterdam but in the world! From the front desk/manager AJ, the bartender Rinus, server Richard, and the rest of the staff. Fantastic presentation of fresh seafood.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience! Started off with the octopus and a selection of oysters, both of which were terrific. The fish and chips were fantastic, along with the vongole, tartare, and salads. Awesome atmosphere and service! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing staff, beautiful atmosphere and great food! Has the Bloody Mary and French oysters. The bloody itself was just okay but made good with the fresh oyster on top. The mussels we fabulous and juicy. Everything else looks great too! So full I may sleep for the rest of the week. Ttyl

Yelp
Make a reservation. Food is excellent and extremely fresh, service kind and friendly. Great spot for dinner whether date night or friends/family. Try the seafood with Pernod sauce, phenomenal.

Mechy B.

Yelp
I had a great experience here from start to finish. I walked in without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. The staff was friendly and the food was great. Also doesn't hurt that it has a great ambiance too. I would definitely go back.

Leslie G.

Yelp
Unless you order one of their gargantuan platters, or are an online influencer taking duckface snaps, you'll likely be ignored. Even ordering a whole lobster didn't do it. And, oh, the way, it's MAINE lobster. When staff saw that one of my dinner mates is an artist who was sketching her lobster, we finally caught some attention. But, honestly, way too late at the end of our meal to say any of it was enjoyable.
google avatar

Yelp
Was super pumped to go here. Ordered the fruits de mer "seafood bar" for 1 and the fritto misto. I actually had the fruits de mer, which had the sweetest shrimp, flavorful langoustines, and succulent fresh oysters. They didn't need any sauce because the taste alone was amazing. My husband also agreed with me about the quality of the shrimp. The other items on there were ok. I wouldn't get the tiny shrimp though it was pretty gritty and treated like blasts of salt, the lobster was bland, and the crawfish could be bigger, the one under there crab salad would not be served in American seafood restaurants. IThe body was about an inch of that or smaller. The Bloody Mary was great and had a raw oyster as a topping. My husband got the fritto misto which is prepared fully cooked... He got food poisoning immediately when we got back to the hotel, talking about almost had to go to the ER. Later in the evening I also experienced some stomach issues. The staff was amazing and the presentation of the food was spectacular. It's just unfortunate that we both endured an illness. I did call the restaurant to let them know what happened. They asked if I could provide more details, like what time we were there and what was consumed. I called to make sure that the kitchen was aware of the food quality. He meekly replied with a, "hope you feel better!". Thanks for the condolences. I hope this was a fluke but we are never going to return to this establishment. Overall the seafood was nothing too spectacular, plus the sickness we both encountered. Save your money and don't waste any time on your stay in Amsterdam for this Russian Roulette of food posioning. Caplingers is still hands down the best for seafood.

Yelp
Seafood Bar attracts a large crowd. From what I gathered, this is quite popular among tourists. I compared my research on yelp and tripadvisor and still decided to dine at the restaurant. I made sure to make a reservation/highly recommended. This is a small city and all of the popular restaurant and prime dinning hours are booked quickly. If you are going to go a seafood bar, you got to order the seafood. We got the combination of the seafood bar and mixed grill. The other reason I got this was that the food arrived on a multiple level tower/platform. It seems impressive/ a bit of the wow factor. It was simply a sampler of all the food that they serve. If I were to dine here again, I would probably stick to the mixed grill. The mixed grill seafood were cooked perfectly. This was one of our higher end restaurant option so we made sure to budget some extra $$$ to dine here and spurge.

Yelp
We were late for our appointment due to a lost Uber driver but they managed to fit us in anyways. Now let me tell you about the food: Wow. The fresh mussels and oysters, Dover sole, mixed plate with lobster and other goodies... all phenomenal. They have excellent wine pairings and the ambiance is lovely.

Yelp
A modern, clean seafood restaurant with friendly staffs. Four of us came for dinner on a Saturday night during our trip. It was a bit of a wait but you can get a drink at the bar inside once they give you a number. For food, you can't go wrong with Mussels wine garlic sauce, it was good and mussels were big. However the fried calamari was just so-so, go with Fritto Misto instead. It's a mixed fried shrimp, fish and squid with different batter which was really tasty. I love the delicious tendered Razor Clams. And the Mixed Grilled was very flavorful with fishes, shrimps and shellfish. We enjoyed our meal and definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
This was a great place to get our seafood kick. We don't usually do seafood and knew if we were in the Netherlands would have to try something. It's a modern, clean, bright restaurant that was pretty busy when we arrived around 6p. We weren't sure what to order so asked the waiter for recs. The waiter was very helpful and suggested we pick a different platter as it had more food and a mix of cold/grilled seafood and was only a few euros more. We went with his suggestion and when our food came out it was A LOT of seafood for the two of us. He explained everything we had on the platters and when we told him we didn't know how to eat the shellfish he happily explained and showed us how to use the utensils (don't know the official terms) to dig out the meat. He helped make our experience a really good one. Thanks Ilias! The seafood was really good. I can't compare as I haven't eaten much cold shellfish in my life but I thought the flavors of each item was good. At times the service was slow and it may have been because of how busy it was.

Yelp
I came based on Yelp's recommendation. We came in on a rainy night with no reservation. Lucky for us, someone canceled their booking and we were seated within 10 mins after waiting. Ordered the seafood platter - it was good, with a selection of fresh seafood like oysters, mussels, Belgium grey shrimps, and periwinkle snails. We also ordered a side salad and fries and a bottle of wine to share. total damage: 70 euros, 35euros each. Reasonable. I recommend this place.

Yelp
The ambiance was great. The food and presentation was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The flavor of the food was tantalizing.

Yelp
So we're in Amsterdam at the Stedelijk Museum, an awesome modern art museum, when hunger struck! We hadn't eaten much of anything since yesterday in New York. Fear not...Tracie to the rescue again! She found The Seafood Bar. It's a short 19 minute walk from the museum. Along the way you'll get to see the beautiful street life of Amsterdam. We were seated immediately! The Seafood Bar is so light and airy with its all white interior and open shotgun concept. Even at 2pm the restaurant was busy. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It's was delicious, lightly breaded and tender. It was in the least bit chewy! The fresh bread was soft and as Tracie reports, "very French!" I ordered the king crab legs from the grill. I LOVE crab legs and these did not disappoint. They were served with a creamy lemon sauce. Tracie ordered the mussels in curry sauce. They had chunks of ginger. Tracie initially mistook these as potatoes, so watch out!
