The Seahorse Restaurant

Perfect Valentines evening. The service from all the wait staff was impeccable. The food was fresh, hot and came out quickly. The spider crab starter and the monkey fish main were highlights of the dinner for myself and my husband. The restaurant slowly filled up during our meal and the service did not falter the busier they got. This will be our go to place for special occasions now we are locals here in Dartmouth. Can't wait to come back.

One of the greatest meal we had in a long time - cod loin was served like we have never tasted before! The monkfish was so out of this world! Everything was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is in the fishing business - so they serve the freshest fishes we had in a long time! And OMG these scallops - I could eat a mountain of those! Fresh! Must! We adore this place and its service! Food that is brave!

We were so kindly gifted an amazing lunch voucher - complete with a bottle of Prosecco—for The SeaHorse in Dartmouth, and it turned out to be one of the best restaurant meals we’ve ever had! We started off at Joe’s Bar where we enjoyed lovely aperitifs, before being shown through to the dining room. The 3-course seafood meal was absolutely incredible, and Roy didn’t have much trouble at all finishing off that bottle of Prosecco. We lingered for a wonderful 2 and a half hours, and left feeling so happy and satisfied. If you’re ever in Dartmouth, The SeaHorse is an absolute must-visit—we can’t recommend it enough! M

Some class cookery here on some top quality ingredients, that’s for sure. Beautiful monkfish, cooked to perfection. Excellent courgette fritti, and seasoned so well. Do go, don’t worry about what you spend, and have a cracking meal.

A really beautiful decorated restaurant with amazing service. We had the Frito misto which was made up of different fish which was beautiful battered. The complimentary bread and olives to start were SCRUMPTIOUS!

A nice meal. The fish dishes were very tasty with a good range of fresh choices. I particularly enjoyed the starters. The main dishes are very much about the fish. All very tasty, but there was nothing else on any of the plates. This coupled with the small sides made me feel a little hard done by for the fairly juicy prices. The staff were exceptional and very attentive.

Our host Charlie was fantastic - we were the only diners in the restaurant for the first hour and a half and he looked after us in an exemplary fashion. He was charming, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is such a lovely room to sit in and being the only ones there we could fully appreciate the artwork and even ask about it. Charlie was very knowledgeable and informative. The oysters were superb, the monkfish risotto rich and layered with every ingredient noticeable from the flecks of fresh parsley to the monkfish stock. The lemon sole was amazing and the fresh tartare sauce a triumph. The courgette frito was gorgeous as was the delicate fennel heart. The taleggio was generously served and the ‘table focaccia’ was a perfect accompaniment. Loved all of it and the meal offer was a perfect lure to get my mum to go and of course we spent well and enjoyed everything. Thank you all so much.

It’s a shame we don’t live closer otherwise we’d move in! Each visit and dish fills us with delicious surprise and delight made even more enjoyable by the convivial staff. Highlights were the queen scallops and fideua Nero, but all courses excellent. Whatever sort of genius and inspiration is going on, please keep it up and we’ll keep coming back in ‘26.

Lovely place. Fish this fresh is not cheap but even so the menu has a lot of variety in terms of fish and price. A similar range of wines seem great quality. Great atmosphere and engaging staff. Small but bustling room without ever being too noisy or cramped.

An absolutely delightful experience, the service was top-notch, the food was absolutely brilliant and the decor was low-key but lovely. The fresh seafood can't be beat, especially to a girl from London; I had the best Dover Sole I've ever eaten as well as finely but Octopus as a starter. If you do nothing else, get the chocolate cake..it's sinful. It's beautiful. It's amazing. It's not cheap but is worth every penny...and you will spend a lot of them here.

As great as they said. You need to book ahead. Loved the seafood dishes and the mussels were amazing. The Muscadet signature went well with it all. Left with her cookbook as well. Highly recommended!
