Literally an amazing experience. The staff was warm and welcoming, the food, the food is on a whole other level. This is no ordinary café, it is the best kept secret in Port Jefferson. The setting moves you back just slightly in time, it is charming, welcoming, and perfect. Classical music was playing at just the right volume during our visit and allowed for incredibly comfortable conversation. I need to take a breath before describing the scones, absolutely unbelievable, moist, tender crust, paired with clotted cream and raspberry jam....still thinking about it. Kept the drinks seasonal with apple cider and almond sugar cookie tea, both were delicious. Lunch was a grilled chicken panini with fresh spinach, provolone cheese and pesto on sour dough, still thinking about this too, beyond delicious. Also got the chicken salad sandwich on cranberry raisin walnut bread, perfect. I really liked that the cranberries and raisins were in the bread as opposed to in the chicken salad, perfect. Dessert was pumpkin pie cheesecake and a coconut layer cake, perfect end to a delicious meal. Gift scones can be ordered and shipped on Monday's and Thursday's, I'm going to see if I can order and pick them up, yes, I'm gifting them to myself, so good :) Update: came back for a fresh round of scones (we couldn't stop thinking about them) and French Onion Roast Beef on toasted sourdough with au jus on the side. This roast beef sandwhich is beyond words. Came back and had the Cheesecake, wow, literally the best cheesecake I have ever had at a restaurant. Period.

My sister and I went to this tea room for the first time for my birthday, we had the full afternoon tea service. It was absolutely fabulous. I am planning to go with my friends or my fiancee next time. The scones, sandwiches and desserts were all delicious. They do have a limited selection of each layer on the tea service but they are willing to do reasonable substitutions if you have dietary preferences. There were two flavors of scones, 3 types in 1-3 flavors of savories- miniature sandwich, wrap, quiche and they were all tasty- apricot jam & goat cheese was my favorite. There were 4 dessert selections if I am remembering correctly, if they have a creme brulee or cheesecake I especially loved those though all were good. I had multiple pumpkin items, normally I do not like pumpkin very much but the pumpkin cinnamon scone & pumpkin cheesecake were outrageously good. At the end of our tea they even brought out a tiny little miniature birthday cake with a candle, I thought that was so incredibly sweet. We did not ask for a birthday cake or order one, they simply brought it out after hearing it was my birthday- how cute! There were many unique, and eclectic tea selections available. They even have smaller teapots so you can try more flavors in a single visit! I ended up getting a couple to take home because they were too delicious to resist 😜 The service was outstanding, our waitress did not hover but was there quickly if we looked like we needed anything. We were there for a later reservation so some items were sold out, I believe they make most items fresh daily so the high quality makes up for limited quantity in my opinion. I would recommend making a reservation, they are extremely busy. As for atmosphere, this tea room is warm, cozy and inviting. My first thought was that the setting put me in mind of a cozy hidden cottage in an enchanted garden from a book. Little autumnal decorations all over and the china they use is an incredibly varied selection. There is this room filled with gorgeous hats, the type you could imagine in an Audrey Hepburn movie or what someone might wear to the Kentucky Derby. The entire experience reminded me of being a little girl and looking through my grandmother's collection of fine china from visits to England to have a tea party with her... To have those memories in mind while having tea with my sister was wonderful. I am so excited to go back to The Secret Garden Tearoom again, I cannot wait!

Came with my mom and sister and enjoyed every second. Loved being able to pick a fancy hat and trying the different teas. We ordered the full afternoon tea. The scones, sandwiches and desserts were so yummy. I loved seeing the reactions to the little kids seeing a real life tea party too. Take your family or friends and feel like royalty. ❤️❤️

What a fun experience. This place is absolutely adorable. The establishment was decorated with flowers and cute tea related decor. There is also a shop when you 1st walk in with teas and tea accessories avafor purchase. They have a "hat room" so you can pick a hat to wear during your dining experience. There is a large variety of different flavors of teas to order including decaffeinated teas (we had the pumpkin Chai and toasted chocolate marshmallow which were both very good). The tea pot for 1 had about 4 cups of tea in it. There are a lot of food options including a full high tea and a light high tea. We ordered the light high tea which came with a tea pot for one and a small tower that had 5 finger sandwiches and a scone on it along with jam and whipped butter cream for the scones. Everyone that works here was very friendly and made the experience very enjoyable.

Have been here many times before and was very disappointed this time. Brought my granddaughter and husband. It was my birthday and they were told in advance a birthday was to be celebrated, which they noted and reiterated when we were seated. Ordered sandwiches for my husband and myself and junior tea $24, for my 10 y/o granddaughter. The small tea tower came with 2 tiny scones, no cream, no jam, 2 tiny sandwiches cut in a shape from a piece of bread, a slim turkey and a grilled cheese that hadn’t melted the cheese, and a few mini desserts. It came with lemonade, warm with no ice. It was awful and not worth the money. Our server was not friendly and honestly, we felt as if we were annoying her. As I was paying, my granddaughter ran to remind them it was my birthday and our server brought tiny cupcake sized cake with a candle as an afterthought. While a pretty place, things have gone downhill. I cannot eat atmosphere. Update: I called to discuss with Frank who said he would discuss with his wife and daughter and call me back on Thursday ( today). I called them today as they never called me at all and left a voicemail message. They still have not called me back and they are now closed

Sunday was our first time here! What a beautiful experience!! It’s like walking into an enchanted garden. The front of the store is set up like a gift shop with beautiful, meticulously created displays of tea pots and tea cups and so much more! The owner was exceptionally friendly and hospitable. We entered the tea room and sat in the center at a table for two. Beautiful decor and tables are all set up with different tea cups. There is a back room where you can try on a variety of hats and wear them during your tea time. Highly recommend doing the High Tea tower. You get to start with amazing scones and work through delicious little sandwiches and puffs with different fillings. Work your way down to 3 dessert bites to choose from. ( The carrot cake was my favorite). I asked for a treat for a birthday and they came out with the absolute cutest little cake with a tiny happy birthday written on the top and it was absolutely delicious (kudos to the owner that writes those tiny little letters). Our whole experience was topped with excellent service by the most adorable, friendly and efficient server, Scarlett ( and her helper). Call and make a reservation! Especially if you have a little girl, a great experience!

Google
I have been here many times over the years and it never disappoints. The full afternoon tea is a favorite and definitely worth the money! I have been to a number of tea rooms all over Long Island and this one definitely has the broadest selection of teas that I've seen. I recently had their special homemade chai, and it was amazing. The seasonal décor is always spot-on and the service is very attentive without being invasive. The food is incredible and I've literally never had something there that I didn't like. The variety and quality are appreciated and keep me coming back time and again. I highly recommend them, but I also recommend having a reservation if you want to be sure to get a seat as the dining room is pretty small.

The Secret Garden Tearoom in Port Jefferson is an absolute delight! The desserts are heavenly, each one more delicious than the last. Of course, the tea selection is outstanding, offering a wide variety of flavors to suit any palate. The ambiance is charming and cozy, making it a really fun place to relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. The staff is warm and welcoming, adding to the overall wonderful experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to indulge in great tea and desserts in a lovely setting!

Yelp
The Secret Garden Tea Shoppe is a venue I frequent at least once every season, which I highly recommend all to do. The owner decorates beautifully and meaningfully for each and every occasion. Whether it's fall, spring, summer, Valentine's Day, Holiday Season, or even once I was there the day of a royal wedding, you can guarantee that every little detail will be attended to. Located in the heart of Port Jefferson, a short walk from the large municipal lot and ferry, this tea shop is where you want to go. They offer full tea service, a royal tea (soup and sparkling cider added), individual ala carte sandwiches, and an array of desserts. I always get the tea service, which comes with a bottomless pot of tea. They have so many teas to choose from, including decaf and herbal versions. During the holidays, they update their tea list to reflect more seasonal teas. Service is always impeccable, the food is always fresh, and there is a consistency to this place that rivals many. I've had tea service at "those" expensive hotels in NYC, and I must say, Secret Garden tops it for me.

Yelp
I wanted to do something extra special for my mother-in-law's eighty-second birthday, so we took her to The Secret Garden Tea Cafe. She is a lover of all things tea, so we knew she would be thrilled to do something such as this. Upon arrival, we couldn't help but notice how beautifully decorated the space was. We were greeted by a gentleman named Frank, who brought us to our table and began to tell us a little bit about the cafe. He explained the menu and discussed the varieties of teas and sandwiches that were currently being offered. He and our server, Katie, were friendly, patient, and attentive. If you truly want to venture into the world of teas, I would highly recommend doing the High Tea experience- as it allows unlimited tea tastings. We did order a few decaffeinated teas, such as the Wedding Cake, Rainbow Cookie, and the Coconut Macaroon- which was our favorite. The Vanilla Cupcake (caffeinated) was good as well. The Blueberry Lemon Scone, Raisin Scone, Madeleines, and Mini Sandwiches were quite tasty and filling. Each item was freshly baked and enjoyable. This is an experience everyone should have. It was elegant and classy. It reminded me that every once in a while, it's okay to slow down and bask in the presence of good company, and have a great cup of tea. We would love to return. If you've been waiting to try this place, make your reservation and just go... you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
This place is really cute, the people there are lovely. It was my friend's birthday , so I decided to take her for afternoon tea here, based on reviews and photos since our local place is now closed. Highly disappointed. $54 each for 2 smallish scones each, not even a choice of flavor , several minuscule "savories" including the tiniest sandwich I've ever seen. The sweets were disappointing, the pumpkin crème brûlée was tasteless and runny, the mini cupcake hard as a rock, pumpkin cheesecake was awful, the carrot cake was decent. The selection provided to us was way too pumpkiny, and spice leaning. The savories were as well. I've had afternoon tea at several places, and was by far the most expensive for the least food, however if the quality was outstanding I'd have looked past it. I was quite surprised when the service was brought out, figuring there was a second one coming out for the $54 each. Honestly the "kids tea" looked like a better selection than what we had. Again, I've had tea at several different places, and this one was just underwhelming.

Yelp
This is a quaint little spot in the heart of Port Jefferson. Not highly visible as you're driving by, but we visited on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. There's a cute little tea-themed gift shop when you enter, with several tables set up in the back of the shop for dining. The table settings are charming -- including a stemmed rose with each teacup, and linen napkins fashioned in the shape of a rose. The menu offers everything from house-made quiche, to fresh-baked scones, to soup, salads, and a selection of sandwiches -- either tea sandwiches or hardier full-size options. We tried the corn chowder featured that day; the chicken, apple & cranberry plated salad; and a chicken salad sandwich. -- ALL DELICIOUS! We topped off our lunch with a scone, whipped butter & raspberry jam and a delicious, custom-brewed pot of tea. It was a great place for a quiet lunch and good conversation, without the noise & commotion of a typical restaurant setting. If I lived there, I'd be a regular!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while so when my daughter came to visit, we grabbed my mom and off we went. My mom was particularly excited about the hat situation. The front is a cute little shop with many things tea related to look at. If I didn't already have a well stocked tea cabinet, I would have bought a few things. The tea strainer with the crystal beads was calling my name! We were seated by a very nice man who may have been the owner. He spoke to us for a few minutes and went over the menu. My mom and I chose the smaller tea service but I wanted my daughter to get the afternoon tea fit for the queen that she is! I chose Secret Garden tea which was delicious, my mom chose crème brûlée and my daughter picked crème earl grey. I've had a few different crème earl grey's and I think this was the best version. We loved it! All of the food was delicious. I had a pumpkin scone with some clotted cream and raspberry jam. It came with a strawberry and some pineapple. For the sandwiches, there was a turkey spinach pinwheel, apple & Brie, chicken salad and I cannot remember the others. Everything was very good! My daughter's full afternoon tea came with 2 scones, the same sandwiches and some mini dessert type things. One was an apple pie, one was a pumpkin something or other, there was a mini carrot cake and a leaf shaped ginger cookie. I think it was big enough for 2 people although I did see that there is a $12 sharing charge. I ate her cookie with a cup of her tea! They went together perfectly. The food was good, the tea and the atmosphere was fantastic! I loved the table settings and yes, we wore the hats! I'd come again but I think I would get a pot of tea and a scone with clotted cream and raspberry jam. That is all I need to be happy there.

Yelp
Still absolutely adore this place! We had tea for my sister's 29th birthday and it was so great! The staff accomadted our large party with smiles and tact! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Yelp
I absolutely love everything about this place. It's so beautifully decorated for each season of the year from Spring to Christmas. It has become a tradition now for my mom and I. We like to see it all decorated each time. The service is excellent too, everyone is so nice. Such a huge selection of teas and I love how they name some of them to match the holiday or season, like the Christmas Cookie tea for example. From the exquisite teacups and teapot and the plates, everything is just so lovely. It's like you're in a story, something like out of a Hallmark movie. Now comes the food, which is also exceptional. Their chicken salad is great, and so is their soup and quiche. All prepared perfectly with a nice small salad on the side. I can't forget their dessert. This changes depending on when you go but each time we go they always have good options. This time my mom had the carrot cake and I had the pumpkin cheesecake. Both delectable desserts. I'm not normally a fan of carrot cake but I tried it and it was very good. But the pumpkin cheesecake was probably the best pumpkin cheesecake I have ever had! Even with the pecans. It was scrumptious and I enjoyed every bite. We took some scones home for another time. Such a quaint place that will keep us coming back for more!

Yelp
Delightful decor and the sweetest staff throughout the establishment. You've entered your grandmother from England cottage once you step over the threshold. We got the high tea for 3 of us, at a steep price of $50 each. This was a special occasion and because of the price it can't be a regular occurrence. All the sandwiches are minis, 2 bites and it's gone, so small its hard to distinguish the flavor of each one. The scones are good. The strawberry scone was soft and fresh, the 2nd scone was dry and crispy, not to our liking. It definitely needed the jam and cream. The desserts are minis and were delicious. The decor throughout is a delight, even in the bathrooms. With the high tea you get a full pot of tea. I wished that I brought an empty Thermos to pour my tea in since it was too much to drink in one sitting and they don't have to go containers for this.

Yelp
Great food and tea so elegant and fun ! They were so accommodating and patient I went with my 91 year old Mom and it was such a pleasure.

Yelp
Everything about The Secret Garden is wonderful!! The food is delicious and always fresh. The service is great and it's just a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend it to everyone I know!!

Yelp
Myself and 4 of my girlfriends came here today for afternoon tea to celebrate the first of us becoming a mom. The tiny baby shower we had was absolutely lovely and the staff went above and beyond to make it a special day for the Mom-to-be. We ordered the full afternoon tea for 5 which came with bottomless tea. Our absolute favorite was the rainbow cookie tea! We bought some to go. The scones, sandwiches and desserts on the tea tray stuffed us full. Everything was so delicious. Thanks so much again to our server, I think her name was Adrienne I'm so sorry I'm not too sure, but she was fantastic and very thoughtful. Can't wait to come back again soon.

MaryJo B.

Yelp
What a wonderful little gem of a place. My cousin and I took my mom here for her birthday. Everything was so wonderful, our waitress was the sweetest. And the food was delicious. I had the jelly roll tea, which was excellent. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
What a cute place to have tea at! The presentation at every table definitely stands out here. Great spot for girls day, Mother's Day, or simply a lunch out. Shout out to Rachel for accommodating our requests!

Yelp
This is my favorite tea house on Long Island! From the moment I made my reservation to when we walked out the door, the service was top notch. The space was very intricately designed and had the perfect ambiance for afternoon tea. The food was fantastic and the tea was phenomenal! 10/10!

Yelp
I love a good afternoon tea. Unfortunately you need a reservation to come here, as it is a small location. When I first called ,this sweet man answered and told me they were booked solid, but I could put myself on the waitlist. The next day he called me as someone cancelled and I was able to snatch a table. I am definitely a little bit of an afternoon tea snob. Refer to my review at the Plaza hotel and see my dissatisfaction. On the contrary, Secret Garden is doing everything right. The scones and sandwiches are to live for, truly a chef's kiss!!!Service and food was top notch. My friend and I had the best time. The rainbow cookie tea was my absolute favorite. I think this is hands downs the best place on the Island. I cannot wait to return.

Yelp
This place is really cute! Decorated beautifully and the little details make it such an amazing experience. Tables are set up with tea cups and comes with a fresh rose and a little card with a quote. Live the fact that tea cups and tea pots are mismatched. The food is really good and their desserts are delicious. They also have hats if you want to use them during tea time. The place is small so I do recommend a reservation ahead of time. They have a nice gift shop area with cute tea sets.

Arlene M.

Yelp
My daughter and I celebrated our birthdays here with some family. The service was amazing, and the food was delicious. There was so much food that we were all very full by the time we finished everything. Their attention to detail was impeccable. It was a great experience and I look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Adorable spot. Perfect to take your daughter, friend, mother etc. I tried some of the high tea food items and they were delicious. I enjoyed my grilled chicken panini and I would get it again if I came back. A pot of tea was enough for 3 people and we very much enjoyed it. The peachy punch was indeed... peachy! The high tea pricing in my opinion seemed a little high for the amount you got, but I will say everything did taste good. Lovely staff, cute decor, this place is a little gem.

Christine S.

Yelp
My daughter set up a High Tea for my birthday for six of us and it was spectacular! All the food is made on premises and delicious. The place was decorated beautifully. The rainbow cookie tea actually tastes just like the cookie itself! The owner was such a gentleman! We will certainly be back!!

Gretchen H.

Yelp
We arrived a few minutes after opening, we were greeted by a pleasant man who seated us. The restaurant is charming, small dining area, but not over crowded. Our waitress was great! She was knowledgeable of the food and ingredients as people in our party had allergies. If you have a gluten allergy call ahead and let them know. They always have GF bread but need to bake extra if you want the traditional high tea sandwiches on GF. BTW their GF bread was delicious. They even have fancy hats that you can wear if you would like to.

Yelp
A lovely spot for afternoon tea. The tea selection is wonderful and the high tea sandwiches, scones and pastries are wonderful. A great way to spend an afternoon with the ladies. A bit pricey at $45.00 per person for high tea

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a fall afternoon tea a couple weeks ago on a Monday, and we honestly had the loveliest time! We were welcomed by a sweet older gentleman who was manning the cash register, and the lobby of the store was a little shoppe where you can buy tchotchkes and trinkets, cards, mementos, etc. We ordered the afternoon tea for two, and we had little shrimp sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, and a cucumber cream cheese sandwich, along with their scones of the day which were the cinnamon chip and raisin ones. They also served little pastries- choco mousse tart, carrot cake, a mini lemon raspberry bundt type cake, and we had it with the secret garden tea! I also purchased a few dessert teas (creme brûlée, hazelnut biscotti, fleur de lis, rainbow cookie) and they threw in a free sample of a vanilla tea to try because they thought I'd enjoy it! So sweet! I will most definitely be back here. The ambiance and service was phenomenal and the food and teas were equally as impressive!!!!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time here. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by name. It was very nice, I know I made a reservation but he was expecting me and it made it more personal and comfortable. Some restaurants don't treat a party of One as kindly as they do at this restaurant. The shrimp sandwich was wonderful!!! I could have eaten an entire bucket of the shrimp! The tea's were delicious. I ordered the Creme Earl Grey. I was told I could have another pot because it's unlimited so I decided to try the Ginger Pear, so happy with this decision! At the end they actually give you a warm towel to clean your hands before you walked out. Don't forget to check to check out the gift shop in the front as you before you pay. I will be back, thank you everyone for such a wonderful time. Finger Sandwiches, Tea Tower,

Yelp
I've been waiting over ten years to go to The Secret Garden and it happened today! My husband and I have a history in Port Jefferson as this was our hang out place while we were post grad students. This time we decided to bring our girls here to celebrate their first year completing in person college classes. We stepped into a beautiful shop adorned with pastels and flowers and a kind gentleman named "Frank" who was so down to earth I could've sworn we've crossed paths before. Adrienne accosted us with enthusiasm and grace. She was at our beck and call and spoiled us with attentive service and kindness which embellished our entire experience. The table had beautiful individualized place settings with rose motif. We ordered the Full Afternoon Tea, the Light Tea and Scones and Tea. Everything was scrumptious, savory, and aesthetically pleasing! The teas were all flavorful and exquisite. We ordered the Secret Garden tea, the crème brûlée tea, the Pink Paradise, Lavender Lace , Forget Me Not and a strawberry peach iced tea. As we were celebrating a special occasion they surprised us with a personalized treat which was the icing on the cake. I can go on describing each tea, scone, sandwich and dessert but this review would be way too long! Also I need to leave some suspense and anticipation as you try it for yourselves! This establishment is a family owned business and you can totally tell with how much pure love goes into pleasing the customers. We will be returning for sure and cannot wait for our next time.

Love this place. The food is always good. Nice selection of teas to choose from. Nice place to take the ladies for tea of course.

Yelp
Do you remember that scene in a little princess where her shanty cold attic bedroom atop of the boarding school was magically transformed into a beautiful, floral oasis? That's what walking into the Secret Garden Cafe is like for me. Frilly, fun and undeniably frou-frou decor with carefully crafted treats and sweets on trays and tiers. If you like flowers, tea and a silly good time -- you'll love it. Little "princesses" will love it, your girlfriends will love it, heck I don't doubt that many men love it too! The experience is very English (minus crumpets), and you certainly can make jokes about being duchesses while trying out ridiculous hats that would make women attending the Kentucky derby jealous. The afternoon tea specials are the thing to order if you're here for lunch. I'm unsure of the exact name of what I ask for, but I get finger sandwiches, seasonal sweets and a scone. There is so much attention paid to every little detail of the photo-worthy platters. Even if I did dislike something it's really only one or two bites worth. They also offer soups and regular human sized sandwiches if you don't fancy variety in your life. The tea selection is large and has many sweet black teas to choose from. I'm unsure of the exact producer of them but all that I've tried tasted fine. Seems that they brew the pots strong and I do take them with milk and one sugar cube, something I don't do to often at home. Attached to the restaurant is an equally frilly (and small) gift shop. Some items are unique, some are typical, yet whimsical gifts you can find all over. I think they'd do better with a larger dinging area than a gift shop but I suppose it does add to the curb appeal. Reservations are very strongly suggested as the dining room isn't as large as your typical neighborhood Italian restaurant. Well behaved children seemed to be welcomed, while ones that cant sit still certainly should not be. Having oddles of kiddos running amock would ruin the experience. I may be an adult with a child's imagination but I do want to enjoy my little princess moment in peace!

Yelp
We have been going up the tea room for many years taking a break after moving and COVID. Now we make an hour trip just to come here. The tea sandwiches are always beautifully done and delicious, desserts meticulously decorated and enticing no matter how full I am. We usually pick a tea to bring home as well since there are so many we like on the extensive menu. The gift shop is so fun to peruse too and has unique tea items I don't see anywhere else (in addition to other cute gifts and trinkets). It's my absolute favorite place to go, it's unique and an amazing experience.

Yelp
I am coffee lover and can appreciate a cup of tea. My aunt brought me here and it's a charming quaint place on the Main Street of Port Jefferson. We were greeted and seated quickly. The Queens Tea was my favorite and the food was delectable. They had hats for us to wear and it made the event perfect. Definitely a winner in my book. Good for anyone.

Yelp
Adorable place with yummy food. Five of us met here for lunch on a Saturday. You definitely need a reservation as the place is small. Our waitress was lovely, as us the decor of this quaint restaurant. Unfortunately no one in my party wanted the tea service so we all had salads. They were all delicious. I had the chicken salad and enjoyed every last bite! I ordered 2 scones to go, which unfortunately were disappointingly bland.

Yelp
This was truly a great experience. The staff is lovely and COVID precautions in place. Felt very safe. I went with my father and each of us got a plate of finger sandwiches, a scone, and our tea of choice. The tea (hard to choose from such a lengthy and unique menu!) is delicious and one pot makes at least 4 cups per person. I had rainbow cookie tea and my father had creamy earl grey. It was a perfect afternoon outing. Warm, cozy, and delicious! We couldn't stop talking about the Secret Garden for days after our visit. We are planning on taking my aunt soon and very much looking forward to making more memories here.

Yelp
So darn cute. Perfect for any age (I went today and all ages were in attendance). I took my friend here for her birthday, and we each did the royal tea. What makes it different from regular tea is a glass of sparkling cider, cup of soup, and small fruit cup before the three-tiered snacks. Overall this is perfect for special occasions. And they are willing to accommodate for any allergies or preferences (my friend is vegetarian and they had plenty of options). I'd recommend a reservation. It was packed in there. Our tea tower came with scones, finger sandwiches, and tiny desserts. And a teapot for each of us. The desserts were the highlight. I wasn't too crazy about the scones, they didn't taste fresh. Everything else was good. I'd say this place's appeal, cuteness, and tea (isn't that what it's all about anyway?) are better than the food, but overall very good. I'd like to come back.

Yelp
Frank, the owner's husband, was great. He was so helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere was charming, the afternoon tea fantastic. my daughter and I especially loved the homemade scones. The entire experience was very special.

Yelp
Thus adorable store front on the Main Street in Port Jefferson is a hidden gem! We had reservations and were seated promptly. Their menu is extensive and there is something for everyone, from homemade soup to sandwiches, quiches and more! All food is prepared on the premises and is fresh fresh fresh! The scones are to die for and their Full Afternoon tea is scrumptious! Just enough to keep you happy! Their tea list is extensive and arrives promptly after being seated and allowed to peruse the menu. This gem has been here for about ten years and I can't wait to go back! My husband and I enjoyed a gift card that was a Christmas present!

Yelp
They take reservations which is great! I brought my mom here, who is on the picky side, and she absolutely LOVED this place. It's our go to spot now for either a quick bite or just a sit down detox tea time. The room is beautiful and the ambiance is so calming. They also have fun hats that you can try on.

Yelp
What a magical place...Affordable, friendly and most importantly amazing tea and AMAZING customer service. I was by myself and felt completely comfortable, I saw groups of ladies having a great time enjoying the tea, food and the atmosphere. I will come back and bring my daughter with me, it's too cute of a place not to enjoy with someone.

Yelp
This place has seriously gone downhill. I last came here 8 years ago when I was a child and loved it. This past Saturday, I was passing by and decided to come in and see if there were any seats available for two. That was when me and my friend were greeted by the most unprofessional and unfriendly man at the counter. He immediately asked me in a condescending tone if I've ever been here before. I said Yes because I came here when I was 11 years old. He then scoffed and said angrily, "I remember you. You did the same thing last time, we're all full". I was in absolute shock at his response. He was definitely confusing me with someone else because the last time I was here, I was A LITERAL CHILD. When I last came here in 2014, I was seated promptly with no issues. I understand that they were all full and didn't have any available seats that day, but he didn't have to be so rude about it. This is not how you treat people. Go to Robinson's Tea Room in Stony Brook instead, at least they don't have a nasty bald man racially profiling customers at the counter.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely adorable. You can really see how detailed and quaint every little thing is. From the food to the beautiful china, decorations and waitstaff. My mom and I both ordered full afternoon tea. On a 3 tiered platter we had scones, fruit, finger sandwiches, and mini desserts. We were also able to try a couple different kinds of tea. Everything was scrumptious. Neither of us like shrimp and they were able to accommodate us with egg salad sandwiches (very tasty). I'd highly recommend this place to take kids too. It seems a little pricey but the ambiance, details, quality of food & drink, is totally worth it. Be sure to try on some hats!

Yelp
Cute place but a bit overpriced. LOCATION: right on the main street area in port jeff, easy to find. DECOR: super flowery and girly inside, small place. Not a lot of seating so I'd highly recommend rsvping. FOOD/TEA: ordered Light Tea which came with a few tinyyyyy finger sandwiches, a scone and a couple pieces of fruit, and then your choice of a very small pot of tea. It was about $17 per person and that seemed a bit high to me being the amount of food you got was minuscule. I originally planned to order one of those tiers of cakes and sandwiches etc, but upon arrival learned they were $35 each person! That seemed insane to me, again because the amount of food was so small, so I sadly passed on that. Finger foods were good and tea was good as well, however I still was disappointed in pricing. Someone at our table ordered a sandwich for $15 and that thing was about 4x the amount of food as Light Tea that was $17 lol. SERVICE: waiter was very nice and efficient. I liked the idea of the place but I'm not sure how often I'd return. It's cute how decorative it is and you really do feel like you're at tea time - I liked that each place setting had a little quote and a rose. But I'd prefer they skip the rose on every setting, save that money and take a few dollars off the menu items prices!

Yelp
Today, I took my mother to tea before we went to see Downton Abbey. I had been planning this trip with her since I found out the movie was coming out in May. I was so excited to share this experience with her. And I knew exactly where I was taking her for tea. The Secret Garden is by far, the best tea restaurant we have on Long Island. The setting and atmosphere immediately puts you in a "pinky up" mood. Everything from the tea China, to the fancy hats you can borrow and wear, if you fancy that, is 5 Star! My mother and I have been here before, and every time it's a treat, so of course, The Royal Tea is perfect. Your greeted with a beautiful place setting, with either a fresh flower, or depending on the season, an adorable little gourde (it's practically Fall here, so yeah, it was perfect) The water glasses were even perfect. We were edged two champagne flutes, with a delicious sparkling peach cider, and a perfect (that word again, but it is) sized bowl of soup. We had butternut squash, because, I've had it before, and that should explain it all since I'm ordering it again, but...that is a bowl of heavenly Autumn...I just wanna curl up on a cloudy Fall day, wrapped in a blanket in front of a fire...it's insanely delicious! (I want some now lol) moving on...we both picked a tea because we both were getting a full pot of tea (full) you choose from a very, very wide selection..I chose Apple Pie, and my mom chose Summer Sunset....perfect teas...they have so many to choose from..I usually get Almond Sugar Cookie, but I loved that so much, I bought it, so I had to try something new, and I'm glad I did...it was like sipping apple pie! We were then presented with the cutest little glass of intermezzo. Tiny little fruit balls, melon, pineapple, with tiny little, and I'm not sure what they were, but they were smaller than poppy seeds, but different, I'm not sure, but they were good! And then...then...the tier comes out...every single time we are blown away by the detail, and artistry the chef puts into every single item on this tier. Carrot rose buds, cucumber cut so thin, if I tried I'd have no fingers, the chicken salad has to be award winning, because I heard a lady raving about it when she was leaving, and she was absolutely right. Amazing. The sones are soft and just tasty with the clotted cream and jelly on the side. Delicious! The tiny desserts, little cheesecakes, today I had the cutest, tastiest little mini apple cider donut. Heaven. And when you think "tea sandwich" you may think, "I'll still be hungry" well, every time, I have some leftover to enjoy later in the evening with a cup of tea..(however, I sent my mom home to enjoy them this time) because I know...we will back! Thank you Secret Garden for creating such a beautiful memory with my mom today...You all are amazing.

Yelp
Wowsa. This place was so feminine/girlie/lovely/Victorian/Garden-esque everyone who left the place would have been in synced. . Once I was seated, I instantly fell in love. Absorbing the decor I felt I was in an outdoor garden-esque setting. The chair backing were wrought iron, the carpet was green for grass. Tall topiary green trees strategically place to mimic hedges in the garden. Silk floral arrangements, plates, cups and teapots were placed throughout the room without seeming cluttered. Each table had a tall simple floral centerpiece to accentuate the room some more. MY PLATE setting had a beautiful place card quoting Emerson placed on a butterfly/flower folded napkin with a spray rose tucked underneath the card. This all gave it a nice touch. Kudos. In the back ground, you can hear piano ( not live) in mid tempo playing Broadway/romantic songs to set the mood. Victoria was my server, "how appropriate" I told her, was very friendly. She checked on me a couple of times during my "sconing out and tea drinking" visit. ( I've eaten a total of 5 scones since Thursday, hence sconing out.) I ordered Cream Tea which was two scones, assorted fresh fruit and a pot of tea for one. It was lemon and cinnamon raisin. Along with scones, the cream and rasberry preserve were served on their own little glass mini bowl. I LOVED that fact that fruit spread had its own bell jar. Nice touch!! The scones were delicious. Warm. Not too sweet. Not to dry. Not to moist. Appropriate sized scones I might say. It was just enough to be full along with fruit and tea. I am very thankful for that because there's really no need for "more bang for your buck" portions that bee lines straight to the butt...and thighs. and belly. And I hate wasting food too. Keeps the calories down too. LOL. The menu was small with mostly lunch items like sandwiches, salads and soup. There's a nice selection of tea to choose from too. I plan to go back for their full afternoon tea service (26.95). There is a Royal tea service too that comes with sparkling cider (29.95). Children's tea service 9.95. Now I have to split my tea time between two places since both are excellent and offer different yet same experiences. P.S. The water had a hint of lemon in it. Nice!

Yelp
I cannot praise this place more highly. This is a lovely, special place. You can tell the kind owners have pride and love for what they do. I popped in for some scones. They weren't cheap, but who wants cheap? You pay the same price for garbage at Starbucks! They may be the BEST scones I've ever had and that includes many tea houses I've been to in England and Scotland. Glorious! If you want the highest quality you need to go here. I can't wait to go back for Afternoon Tea!

Yelp
I'm sad to see where this place is heading. Their scones are now about half the size they were when they first opened. The price did not go down like the size. I'm disappointed. Also I don't like the you have to spend a certain amount each person or they will charge you extra for nothing. I hope they are not getting to comfortable, the way they are going, people will stop going. I won't be frequenting this place often anymore. Till they start serving the right sizes for the price they charge.

Yelp
This was so much fun! I treated my mom, myself, and my aunt to the Royal Tea Experience. The table setting was quite nice. Everything was delicious! We especially loved the lavender lime and mint iced tea. Our scones, tea sandwiches, desserts, tea: all really, really good! The service was great, too. My mom had a blast trying on various fancy tea hats, it was like she was a little kid again. This experience will always be one I remember fondly and we are definitely coming again when I come into town to visit my mom.

Yelp
This cafe was a very cute sweet place for a nice girly get together. I visited with my 2 girls 6 and 8. They just adored the fancy decor. Table is set with lovely china along with a rose and inspirational quote on decorated note card. Girls were invited to wear one of their fancy party hats and feather boas. Menu had extensive tea list. In addition to traditional afternoon tea there were soup salad and sandwich options. Service was friendly and fast. Please note that on weekends or during school breaks reservations are a must. On a side note I noted that there was An $8 dollar minimum per guest. Did not effect us on this visit but it may for other guests. Would return again as a treat for my girls or as a girlfriends outing.

Yelp
As a family we brought my 7 year old to The Secret Garden Tea Room! It was amazing! She loved every minute and so did the adults. They are family owned and operated. Service is amazing. I recommend the royal afternoon tea or the afternoon tea! They sell all sorts of pretty Tea things and beautiful hats! They have a dress up "hat room" and we're so kind. They have amazing speciality tea and perfect food! Perfect place for a girls day, small shower or a fun day with grandma, mom or Aunt! I could not recommend this more. I never write reviews but loved this amazing treasure so much! What a special day! We will be back soon! Go have a perfect tea time! ***make a reservation.**** They don't require it but are often booked up and if you drive far or have it in your plans then you want to make sure you get seated!

Yelp
LOVE this place. Been several times and always have a delightful experience. Food is always fresh and homemade, and tea is delicious. Large tea selection, too. I enjoy the seasonal decor and seasonal teas at different times of year. Highly recommend this place for brunch or lunch!

Yelp
I had the same experience as another reviewer. My daughters and I decided to stop by here when we went to the Dickenson festival-didn't even know it existed. When we got inside, my younger daughter fell in love with how cute it was & couldn't wait to be seated. We stood there for like 15 minutes being completely ignored by everyone working there. There were people at the tables eating & drinking so it didn't look like it was closed or closing soon-this was the middle of the afternoon during a fair! After a very long time someone finally asked if she could help us. I said we'd like to have a table. Then she said they're closed, which it was pretty obvious they weren't!
