I’ve been living in Ubud for about 8 months, and Seeds of Life quickly became my absolute favorite place when it comes to organic vegan food and medicinal tonic teas.
I honestly can’t think of another restaurant where the food is this consistently delicious, with such mind-bending flavor profiles. Even the simplest dishes ( smoothies, salads, zoodles... ) are true explosions of flavor with every bite. Nothing feels flat or boring here.
No matter the lifestyle you follow (omnivore, vegan, raw vegan, fruitarian… or even breatharian 😄), Seeds of Life is probably one of the best places in Asia to explore truly outstanding healing foods.
Some must-tries for me:
• Mexican lasagna
• Italian calzone
• Pizzas
• Cauliflower gnocchis
They’ve also introduced cooked dishes, and they’re just as impressive, especially the quinoa balls with stuffed cheese, the ramen, and the tempeh & tofu curry.
Breakfast deserves a special mention too
My favorites are the banana waffles with ice cream, the smoothie bowls, and the Sol Jar. All incredibly tasty, satisfying, and nourishing.
When it comes to drinks, the green smoothie with extra fresh spirulina and the coffee–tahini shake are just BANG. Their coffee and matcha never miss either.
Desserts change daily, which is dangerous (in the best way). Strong recommendations for the raw chocolate pie, passion fruit cheesecake, triple chocolate, and caramel slice.
But honestly… the sweetest thing there is Elo’s smile 😉
Beyond the food, the café is generally very peaceful and perfect for working in a calm environment. The staff is genuinely kind, both front-of-house and in the kitchen, always happy to adapt dishes to specific needs. When you talk to the chefs, you can feel the love and intention they put into the food and how happy they are to work there, no surprise it tastes so good. (Big hugs to Chef Wayan & Made!)
And finally, the hidden treasure of this place is undoubtedly Ben, the owner. Always approachable, open to conversation, and deeply inspiring. Every time I run into him, I’m struck by how much love, passion, knowledge, and care he pours into this café and into his team. I’ve rarely met someone who understands food so deeply, at the crossroads of nutrition, spirituality, and pleasure.
Ben also runs immersive raw food trainings twice a year, one of which I just completed. And honestly, it was transformative, easily one of the top two investments I’ve ever made in myself.
Thank you and congratulations to Ben and the entire team for creating such a beautiful space and for the impact you have on people through food. Aho!
