Extremely disappointing stay – misleading room design and poor service
Our stay at Serangoon House, Little India was very unpleasant, especially for a family.
The room is extremely small and poorly designed. It is so compact that all 6 members of our family ended up getting hurt at different times due to lack of space and sharp, cramped movement areas. This is not just “cozy” — it is unsafe and impractical for families.
Shockingly, the toilet door does not even have a lock, which is a very basic amenity and unacceptable in any hotel, especially when staying with family.
When we raised our concerns with the staff, instead of acknowledging the problem or offering a solution, they gave nonsensical excuses, saying “this is how the architect designed it”. This is not a justification for poor usability or guest discomfort.
The breakfast was very disappointing, with very limited and low-quality options. It felt more like an afterthought than a proper hotel breakfast.
On top of that, room service staff were argumentative when we requested basic items like dental kits or extra towels, which should be readily available without debate.
Overall, the hotel lacks:
• Basic comfort
• Basic amenities
• Professional customer service
• Family-friendly design
I would strongly discourage families or anyone expecting reasonable comfort from staying here. Definitely not worth the price and far below expectations.
