Surrounded by such an interesting village, I’m glad this cafe has wide-open windows to people-watch or keep cozy on a rainy day. Initially, I tried to visit this cafe near Chinese New Years, though they were closed. The mood is perfect and they have upstairs seating, so you’re not limited to on-the-go drinks or fighting for 3 chairs, however it’s still a bit cramped. I always order a mocha on my first visit to test the waters, so to speak, and we also ordered an “Ahava”, a soda water - elderflower - lime concoction with a sprig of rosemary, along with the “Pistachio cheese”. The 3 items took 15 minutes to get to us. While a bit displeased as the shop wasn’t very busy, the quality of the drinks were more or less worth the wait. The mocha was rich and even slightly smoky flavoured, while the Ahava was surprisingly complex and, while an overused buzzword, was indeed refreshing. The Pistachio Cheese was okay, however was significantly more light and creamy than I would have wanted. Even with the delay, the workers were polite and welcoming. It would be a great place to camp out with a book or laptop, if not a slight walk from the MTR for my taste. I’ll still be heading back to try the food, but I’d love to make it a weekly place to camp out.
