"Bask in oceanfront vibes at this outdoor hang, which opens seasonally for orange crushes and other cocktails paired with a summery menu of nachos, loaded fries, tacos, and sandwiches. The Shack offers plenty of open-air space with games, picnic table seating, and reservable private nooks. Check out the website and social media for a listing of special events, which have included vendor markets and theme nights." - Travis Mitchell

Google
Randomly stumbled upon this place but the vibes were immaculate. Very social and lively place during the day with great food and lots of games to play with kids and friends. And 21+ at night the same lively environment. Drinks were mostly rail drinks and it was ok.

Sonya Z. Phillips

Google
It’s definitely a vibe. It’s very casual, good music a few places to sit. I had some funnel cake fries that were ok, but not too much food choices. I had a great time and there is a parking garage next door (pay per hour it was about $7 for 4 hours)

Google
So a nice place to go with friends. Zero comments, nothing negative. Really great to play these games and the bull. The food is good but not great

Seth Gessner

Google
Cute little place with a lot of options. The hostess was excited to seat us, the server was excited to wait on us. Clearly a fun place for both employee and patron alike .

Google
Amazing atmosphere with fun vibes. We had appetizers and drinks. Their fresh orange crush is best. DJ was playing live music.

Google
Great place to come and hangout. We went on a Monday afternoon which was perfect for us. The food was delicious! We got the nachos, hush puppies, and tuna bites. Everything was well prepared with a special call out on how perfect the tuna bites were. They have a full bar, we hit happy hour and enjoyed $5 orange crushes which were made right in front of us. They have a few games like corn hole, big Janga, and connect 4. Family friendly with lots of tables and a couple swings.

Elena Padilla

Google
I only came for some drinks and to hang out, so no comments on the food. We had a traditional orange crush and it was great! Very strong drink, but delicious and fresh. The atmosphere was great with lots of music and a young crowd. I appreciated how they had a smoking area so that it wasn’t everywhere. Had a great time!

Google
Perfect place to hang with family or friends 🧡 great atmosphere the staff is super friendly and the food is good

Yelp
Good vibes at the Shack on 8th. From the chill outdoor setup to the live entertainment and fun lawn games (cornhole, jumbo Jenga, Connect 4--you name it), this spot brought good energy all weekend long. We enjoyed it so much we came twice during our VA Beach trip! Their crushes are a must -- the Strawberry Lemonade and Honey Habanero were fan favorites in our group. We also grabbed some nachos and cheese curds for quick apps -- tasty, fast, and perfect for sharing while hanging out. Definitely a 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for a good time at the beach!

Yelp
Been here a few times so here's my honest feedback: If you're coming for drinks, it's usually a great time. The crushes hit and are very refreshing for like $11 a piece. If you're coming for food, go somewhere else. We had lunch here and it was bad. We ordered chips and Guac, our Guac was brown and we asked for more chips cause the chips were super stale. That should have been a warning for the rest of our meal. "Beef, pork, and chorizo tacos were all terrible" - my husband. Just not a great experience and the waitress didn't even care . During the day (even in the tourist season) it's pretty nice, good for kids and strollers, they have fans but it does get hot.

Yelp
Awesome experience! Family of 6 with a pair teens and pair of littlees. We got our food FAST! Great burgers, great salmon pesto sandwich. Fun outside atmosphere. One of our new VA Beach favs

Yelp
The Shack is a really neat place close to the boardwalk/beach. Wide open space with picnic tables and a center bar. Food is offered more like a food truck offering and was decent. Plenty of games to play and lots of sunshine. The food was delivered to the table after ordering, but you have to go back to the bar to get drinks.

G P.

Yelp
This place is trash. They claimed happy hour to be until 7pm, but changed prices before 5:30pm. I don't know if it had to do with discrimination of some sort, but this bar definitely sucks. They refused to honor posted prices, you can find plenty of places that don't discriminate in any way. Brandon was the only person who offered good service. Thank you Brandon.

Yelp
So fun, awesome adult hangout. Multiple bars with plenty of bar tenders. Great seafood and drinks. Very friendly staff, definitely organized and efficient. All kinds of games to play.

Yelp
What a hidden gem (although not sure how hidden it is)... We decided to check this place out for lunch, as it looked like it had a nice outdoor seating area. We weren't able surprised to find a HUGE grassy back area with cornhole and bocci ball, and lots of seating amidst beautiful trees! The vendors were also fun to explore while waiting for our food, and it looked like they had some nice fire pits for the evenings.
google avatar

Yelp
Good orange crushes with the oj squeezed as freshly as possible ($5 during happy hour). The two bartenders I met were fun/nice. I liked the heaters by the chairs as well as the little fires throughout the premise. Restrooms were clean. Did not have any of their food.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
3 stars for good service. I walked up to the bar and was able to get a cup of ice water from the very friendly bartender. Green tea shots + vodka cranberry were really good. Very crowded on a Friday night (makes sense) with limited seating due to the crowds. I had a good time, not sure if I'll be back though. Very similar to the bars you would find in a college town- if that's your scene, you'll love it here!

Yelp
We came to the shack to check out their Easter festivities and pop up market. There was a free Easter egg hunt with candy for the kids, and plenty of handmade items for sale from different vendors. Of course we decided to get food while we were there, which was honestly a little disappointing. They only had one of their kitchens open since it's technically still the off season, so I can't compare to how the food is when their full menu is available, however the portion sizes for the prices was sad. Our waitress was fantastic and very sweet, and the atmosphere was fun, with plenty of outside entertainment to keep everyone busy. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially with their full drink menu! Just be prepared to pay exorbitant prices for subpar food.

Will M.

Yelp
Tacos are dry and have zero taste. Food is lacking in taste considering the price you pay. Atmosphere is terrific- just don't come here if you are hungry. A shame since Waterman's restaurant has fabulous food and is our favorite seafood restaurant.
google avatar

Anissa H.

Yelp
Ordered the Carne Asada nachos really really good. The service was amazing. The service is good. If you have children, you can bring them kid friendly they have games the drinks amazing. Ordered the cocktail . I wanna call it the cherry limeade with vodka in it, but I really don't know the name of it, but it was good, come check them out great atmosphere for a day or just hang out

Yelp
My bestie and her hubby were in town this weekend and it was a scorcher!! At about 11pm, Saturday night, she wanted to head down to the oceanfront. I knew the perfect place to take her. That's right, The Shack on 8th. It is a summer vibe for sure!! We love Waterman's, so it was a no brainer. Apparently, I was the only one who was hungry so I ordered a cheesesteak to go with my Orange Crush. The Shack's Orange Crush variety is extensive. She ordered a Coconut Lime Crush that was delicious. The Shack has plenty of bars so we did not spend all of our social time standing in line. In fact, they have a "Fast Lane". By the time I looked up from putting my card back in my wallet my drink was looking at me to pick it up. The ambiance and outdoor decor was everything. The music put me in a club mood. Some people played outdoor games like Corn Hole while others socialized at one of the many seating areas or just stood, laughing and talking. Last call was about 1:20am, and it was time to head to the door around 1:30am. It was an adult crowd and we felt very safe. Highly recommend this spot if you're hanging on the lower end of the strip.

Yelp
I appreciate parking being available on the side street right near the restaurant. It's $5 for the first hour and $2 every additional hour. The greeter was kind and led me to the group I was joining. We sat near the fire pit, which was nice on a sunny but chilly day. The vibes and ambience are immaculate. The waitress was great at taking care of the group and coming back and forth to see if we needed anything. A + on the service. I ordered a orange crush and jerk tacos with chips and salsa. The orange crush was a 10/10, plus dying happy hour, they are $5. The tacos were okay, nothing spectacular. I had to spruce them up with the salsa for the chips. The jerk flavor was bland. I will be back for drinks and vibes. Oh and they have games.

Jocey C.

Yelp
we had a big group and our server was named Ray and she was awesome! food and drinks were good too

Yelp
Atmosphere: incredible Drinks: well-priced and good Service: great Food: not quite mediocre I guess good food really isn't what draws you in here anyways and it's nice that they have food options, but it was disappointing. However, we had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back for fun afternoons and evenings. Love the vibe with all of the games and the ability to be outdoors. Easy to stay cool with their cooling fans, as well. Crushes were great.
google avatar

Yelp
I went today however I did not heed the warning. the service was quick, the ambiance was nice a little chilly but they can't control the weather. however the cook needs to be fired. the food was awful. the pulled pork was dry and looked like it had been under a heat lamp and it had no seasoning totally tasteless and the brisket was fatty and had no taste. i Suggest they stick to serving drinks. i am still trying to figure out how you can mess up French fries and Cole slaw. If you're going out to dinner eat there eat before you go so you won't order anything to eat. letting you know so you DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Yelp
***** THEY BLOCKED ME ON INSTAGRAM ****My party and i were kicked out because of false accusations. when i asked the officer picture above , Officer Eves, she dismissed my question&was really rude. I called her a bitch.Freedom of speech right. When i was able to speak to manager she completely defend the officer, even after i told her what happened exactly she dismissed me and walked off. May have been racism, im not sure because this is my first time experiencing this. The manager spoke to me calmly before disrespecting me and walking off telling me to stay off the property even after i told her the other party antagonized me. The food was actually pretty bad as well. everything came out luke warm. Also im not looking for the rude owner to say this was good feedback, i want a full refund and for her to screen all police officers she "hires"

Yelp
What a great bar and event space. Owned by the same people who own Watermans. Famous for.their crushes. There are fire pits, games, twinkle lights, and inexpensive cocktails. We dropped by for one as we were flying out early the next day. It is a great place with great ambiance, and if I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular. Jarod was our bartender, and I described I wanted something tropical, but not too sweet, and he nailed it. It's definitely a go-to spot for anyone visiting Virginia Beach.

Yelp
Visited on a Friday early evening with my wife and son (5 years old) and had a good time. I can't speak to the late evening crowd, but I'm sure it's much the same. Overall solid choice for a couple or a family. Pro tip - Go with the burrito! Pros: 1.) Great music! (stick figure, sublime, rebellution, iration, the movement, ziggy marley, etc.) 2.) Laid back vibe 3.) Expansive food and drink menu(s) 4.) Fantastic burritos Cons: 1.) Drinks could've been a bit stronger and less sweet. 2.) Tacos need to come with some sauce
google avatar

Maggie W.

Yelp
Went there while on vacation in VA Beach. Really fun place with a really cool set up! It was basically a large courtyard type atmosphere with live music, game areas, a couple of retail vendors, and different food vendors. Drinks were good, servers were nice and helpful, definitely recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice concept - outside food and drinks - not for kids after 8 - we ended up here just trying to get food for two hungry boys. Wish I could have tried the drinks but it was so busy
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
I normally have come here for the beverages. I love a good orange crush. It's a fun place to hang out with friends. There's outdoor games and plenty of lounging areas. It gets busy here at night - especially in the warmer months. I wanted to come on here to highlight the banh mi pork bowl I ordered after I went for a run on the boardwalk. The crunch of the fresh jalapenos (it was an add-on), pickled onions, and pickled ginger over a soft bed of rice and pulled pork and spicy mayo drizzle was mouthwatering. The freshness of the cilantro tied the bowl together. I would come here to eat just the banh mi pork bowl again.

Yelp
It was supposed to be a street food event but turned out to be just a Shack event. The British double decker bus converted into a food truck is the street food provider and it's not going anywhere. A good variety to select from. Burgers, nachos, fries, Mac & cheese, some mixed drinks, and service. The nachos were fine, nothing spectacular. While the double burger was just that... a double burger with the usual condiments. I must say, the pickles are nice to munch on - homemade and taste much better that typically bought pickles. Soucy mayo has a zing!!!!!! For me, choosing between the double burger and brisket burger, go for the brisket burger. More meat, tender, and just flavorful. The fries are wonderful. Served with the skin and just down right tasty. Just remember, the theme is street food so don't expect a full fledge kitchen. Clean up after yourself after dining:-))))))

Yelp
Several people have told me this place was worth a try. So in area first night I say let's go for it. Staff was very friendly. Was not crowded at all which was nice as well. Ordered Diet Coke which first glass tasted like seltzer. Other was pretty much same. Waitress took off bill. I ordered cheesesteak sandwich. Was really good except the cheese was really watered down. Fries were well done as requested and where really good. Here for a week. Definitely going back to give a 2nd try....

Yelp
Sunday I attended the event Rose Day at The Shack on 8th and ended up having the best moms day out Day Party experience since COVID. The shack on 8th is an amazing outdoor venue. This outdoor restaurant and bar is located on Atlantic right across the street from the beach! The staff: It took us awhile to get a server. We kept asking different servers that walked by and kept getting the same answer that they were not our server. Eventually we moved to another table and the server we asked 3 times felt bad and decided to assist us. From then on she made sure our experience was very pleasant. The scene: There are a lot of choices on seating. From tables to cushion lawn furniture in front of the firepit, swings, to cozy nooks in hidden corners and a beautiful BoHo shack. The area is filled with great décor of plants, fans, and lights. The food: We ordered queso and chips, crab dip and chips, tuna bites and fried shrimp. None of the food we ordered was anything special but we were intoxicated and could care less!!! The drinks: The Rose table consisted of two flight options that had 4 Rose flights each, there was also a Froze option which was Rose and vodka frozen. We also tried the blackberry crush which was a standard crush that the oceanfront is known for. Overall the vibe at the Shack on 8th was awesome. I had the best time during the middle of the day on a Sunday since COVID. We met a lot of cool people, danced, laughed and drank. The DJ was great and played a lot of great old school hits that make you get up and dance. I will be back for sure. We have already planned a couples night.
google avatar

Yelp
My expectations were too high. We only picked up a to go order. The food and drink were great. I have always wanted to check out The Shack. Sure wish we had done it before COVID-19. Only giving 4 stars because it just seemed lacking. Orange crush is a classic locals drink. It was great. We got the Rude Boy burrito also great. Just wish it had come with rice or beans or chips. Just felt the whole time we were missing out on something. I guess what I'm saying is that I wanted more. Staff super friendly and helpful. Parked right up front and ran in and picked up our order. This is off season so it was like a ghost town. I'm looking forward to visiting when COVID-19 is over and we can get back to socializing. I feel this place has the potential for 5 stars

Yelp
The vibes here are 10/10! The whole outdoor space is well layed out with tons of seating and lounging areas. They have fans and misters going to keep the area cool during the hot summer days and there is plenty of shade. They also have a cornhole area and some firepits for the cooler days. I got their Shrimp Taco and Smoked Brisket Taco and made it a "meal" with the chips and salsa. The shrimp taco was delicious. The brisket was a little dry but very flavorful. The chips were a little thick for my taste but the salsa was great! Our group also tried some of the Crush drinks. The Shack Crush wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping, tasted a little watery. The Coconut Lime Crush was the table favorite by far. The Blueberry Crush was pretty good as well, strong blueberry flavor and refreshing.
google avatar

Morgan D.

Yelp
Wow the atmosphere. What an awesome place to hang out with friends, have a drink and play a game. Lots of various types of seating. Bartenders and staff were friendly. The food was okay . I split the teriyaki skewers , mozzarella sticks and tuna bites with my sister. But definitely worth the atmosphere!

Yelp
The shack on 8th is the outdoor beach shack you've been dreaming about! This outdoor restaurant and bar is located on Atlantic right across the street from the beach! The staff: I have been wanting to go to a beach oasis and have been a little nervous to do so because of COVID. Let me tell you the staff did a phenomenal job putting our minds at ease! They had complimentary hand sanitizers at the entrance, they gave us paper menus and all the tables were socially distant which was perfect! Our server was pleasant. He kept our drinks flowing, answered all our questions and made really good suggestions. The scene:There are soooooooo many cozy little nooks to nestle in with your friends, family and /or loved ones! The outdoor seating is complimented with lush plants, twinkling lights, fans, fire pits and the salty ocean breeze. The food: we ordered brisket fries (times 2), a cheeseburger, two kinds of tacos, and a bang mi beef hotdog! The brisket was amazing! It was flavored perfectly. The fries were good but tasted a little salty coupled with the brisket. I think if they cut back the salt on the fries that dish would be perfect! The Cuban beef tacos practically melted in our mouth they were soooo good! The Banh Mi taco was Tasty and cooked to perfection. The drinks: You can't visit the shack without trying one of their infamous crushes! I tried the Tito and a Raspberry lemon aid crushed they were both delicious! They will even make virgin crushes for the kiddos if you ask nicely! My husband ordered a beer and the can felt cold but the beer was really warm so that was a bummer! Overall the vibe at the Shack on 8th is endless!People of all ages, demographics and walks of lifeAre welcomed here and collectively come here to have a good time. Although it's not quite a 5 star experience this place checks most of the boxes, great service, great scenery, good food, pretty good drinks.
google avatar

Stacy W.

Yelp
I love this place. Idk how the food is as I usually just come drink all the crushes and shop at the little store. They have cute and comfy clothes. My fav crush is the honey habanero without the simple syrup. So essentially just liquor and soda water. I love the atmosphere. It's always so fun and chill. I love bringing my out of town guests here and they always have a great time. Def recommend.
google avatar

Burlington K.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible. Unless you are a 20 something that wants to get high, has a lot of money, and don't care what your eating.....Avoid this shack!! Gross is the best way to describe the food. Service?? lol there isn't any but they expect you to tip when you purchase your food. Folks McDonalds is better. I had the chicken strips? I guess, they were fishy tasting and water was dripping out. A rum runner sounded good on a hot day. Well you will pay $10 for a very small styrofoam cup that is a slushy but has no flavor. For you 20 something there are games around and some comfortable furniture to keep you entertained. AVOID!!

hannah p.

Yelp
Place is huge! Super cute and tons of really good drinks to chose from. Security was also really good and aware/observant.
google avatar

Anita A.

Yelp
We went here for drinks and the place was great! The place is beautiful! It rained and most of the place doesn't have a roof but that was ok, we still had a great time. I had a pulled pork taco which was good and my friend had a hamburger. He liked it. They make their drinks with fresh squeezed fruit. We are definitely going back.
google avatar

Adrian D.

Yelp
It's a pretty chill spot. A lot of people who are trendy and stylist. Almost feels like a hipster location although not totally. There are police at the location for safety, I guess. Plenty of different things to eat and at least two bars. There is a lot of seating and plenty of space. Overall, I have to say it's a good place.
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
The Shack is an outdoor space with plenty of seating options and outdoor games for families, groups, etc. They serve drinks and have a small menu. They're owned by the same group that has Waterman's and Chix on the Beach. Our group had just eaten dinner at Chix, but stopped by the Shack to check out the outdoor space. Plenty of activities for the kids, Connect 4 occupied the ones with us. The adults had one round of drinks, a variety of crushes and a margarita. The margarita was not good at all. Definitely not mixed well or the proportions of ingredients were way off. The crushes were fine, but not as good as the orange crush at dinner at a sister establishment. It could be that I just preferred orange over the pineapple and mango variations.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to hang out in at the Oceanfront. I would definitely go more if I lived closer. It is a huge outdoor bar complete with lawn games and patio-style seating to make you feel like you're in your coolest friend's backyard. It isn't ON the boardwalk, so don't come here expecting to have a drink on the water, but the feel of the venue reminds you that the ocean is just a block away. New for this season they added another food option in the form of a taco stand! They also added more women's bathrooms which is a huge improvement. That was my biggest negative about visiting before. They laid down astro turf which keeps the outdoor vibe, but makes moving around much easier. I do like how when you come here you get a pretty wide variety of outfits from people who have clearly spent most of the day on the beach, to people dressed up in their best "Insta-Outfits." They have a huge selection of "crushes." The Orange Crush is the Virginia Beach signature drink. In my opinion the Waterman's brand (who owns the Shack) definitely makes the best crushes in the area. Basically a crush is usually some kind of vodka with some kind of juice. The Shack has a huge crush menu expanding beyond the classic vodka + orange juice combination. The pineapple crush (rum) is my favorite so far. Prices are pretty standard for the oceanfront. This is a great place to hang out on a summer afternoon at the Oceanfront when you aren't feeling all the sand of the beach and then well into the evening.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this place is definitely 5/5. There's different areas to hang out at and multiple locations to order drinks at! It's very lively and perfect for groups! But the food is not that great. I would rate it 1/5. I ordered a burrito and tacos. The meat used for the tacos was ground beef. The tacos are definitely not worth the $5 each. There is a deal for 2 tacos with chips and salsa for $12. But I wouldn't recommend that either because the salsa tasted like pasta sauce... also the cashier was extremely rude and not welcoming at all. Also al pastor tacos were no where in sight or on the menu! This is a cool place to hang out and have a few drinks but I would recommend to eat before or grab food somewhere else haha.
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
One of our fave spots for the Summer! It's right beside the 9th street parking deck which makes it easy to stop by right before hitting the sand for the day. We love the setup here. Lots of space, tables, seats, lots of lawn games to play and there's food truck available to purchase snacks. They have a huge menu of different crushes and this is a sister restaurant of Waterman's so you know their orange crushes will not disappoint. They make it with fresh oranges right in front of you, can't get any fresher than that! It's so good but watch out cuz the alcohol will creep up on you after a couple! Definitely give it a try, you will love it!

Yelp
Was in town for a wedding and the wedding party decided to do dinner and a mingling session here the night before . We had a great time , drinks were flowing, we were ordering food, listening and dancing to music and playing games . It was overall a good time as our party consisted of babies all the up to the elderly . Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I thought prices were decent to be a spot near the beach.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here a few times to include for the taco festival last year and it's a wonderful place, especially on the weekends. This is an outside arena like area with multiple bars and a good shack on green turf. There is plenty of seating and large outdoor games to include hammocks! There's typically no cover charge aside from guys occasionally (on a Saturday night in May it was $5 around 10pm) and there's always good vibes. My absolutely favorite thing about this place are the crush drinks!! Creamsicle is a favorite but unfortunately (but fortunately) they ran out of a couple flavors so I opted for the razz lemon. It was pretty good tbh. Also ordered nachos for $9 and they were packed! The chips were a little stale but I still enjoyed because I was hungry. Had a great time with friends and would definitely visit this place again. It is a nice in-between of a club and bar.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The food is ok, thepo boy was pretty good. We also got the lobster sandwich. My husband ended up getting stomach issues after eating his lobster sandwich though. I got the collard green as a side which didn't have any taste, pretty bland.
google avatar

Yelp
4 stars for service alone! We had a party of 9, 4 of which were kids and they were SUPER accommodating. I regret not taking picures for this review. Finnley(sp?) was our server. He was WONDERFUL. He sat us in the back corner with a bunch of picnic tables, brought over the giant Connect 4 so our kids would be able to play together where we could sit and watch them, went searching for high chairs, brought my daughter apple slices because she wouldn't eat literally anything else. He seriously went above and beyond for us. The food was just okay, in my book. I ordered the I pulled pork sandwich with fries. The pork was a little dry and the sauce was like extraaaa spicy. My stepson got a burger and it was eh. He said it was kind of burnt tasting and didn't finish it. I can't speak on the food for the rest of our party, but they at least seemed happy! This is really somewhere I would have considered going while in college, looking for a place to just hang out and drink. The nice thing about it was everything was outside and they allowed dogs. It was a fairly large area, but was well kept and had a lot of activities. If we come back to this area again, I would probably visit again.

Rachael K.

Yelp
The staff was welcoming and the service for drinks and food was great. As the night went on it got busy but the bar staff were quick with drinks and the food staff were very prompt. Food was delicious and brought to you table- nice touch for an outdoor venue. Huge space with tons to enjoy for all ages. They have fire pits, outdoor games and music. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Such a vibe to be at after you're at the beach or don't want to go to the beach but have beach vibes. It's a huge outdoor space with games all around like corn hole and more. You can sit at a table and get served or you can go up to the various bars and serve yourself! Had a blast here and maybe lost one or two games lol
google avatar

Lori A.

Yelp
This is a cool place to drink and play games. The tacos are good. I would rate it four stars but the price online didn't match my receipt. We ended up paying $17.49 for two tacos and salsa with that and an orange crush and tax and tip came to $59. 4 tacos, chips and salsa is too much so we won't be coming back.

Yelp
It's always a good time at the Shack. The Shack is a pretty genius idea. It's very trendy and hip. They offer affordably delicious drinks. I think there are three bars you can order from inside the Shack. You could wait at the bar for your drink or you can sit at a table and a waitress will order your drinks and bring them to you. They offer a variety of Crushes which is a Virginia Beach speciality drink. There are outdoor games and lots of space to move around, hang out. Music playing. Would be great if they had a DJ. The bathrooms are just like any other bathroom at a bar, not super clean but at least they have a lot of toilets and not just one for everyone to wait in a long line. This place really meets the vibe of Virginia Beach. It's a place to go and hang out for those 21 and up. I don't go out often but this one of my favorite spots to go to for casual drinks.

Yelp
Such a fun place to come with friends! They have a huge selection of outdoor games(Bocce ball, cornhole, Jenga). Swing seats and campfires. Just the prefect vibes after being at the beach. They have an indoor area also with a dance floor. It's a good place for people in their 20s. Not really a place for older people and also if you are a guy you will most likely run into a cover charge FYI but for us ladies it's usually free! Also not the place to come to drink. Their speciality the orange squeeze is about $7 and have almost no alcohol in it and not anything that special. The lines but the bar are also crazy too. Still will give this place 5 stars because it is the best late night place to hang in VA beach. Just enjoy the environment.

Yelp
Few things have changed at the Shack , but oh well. Let's start off with the ambiance. COVID friendly ? Maybe not. Dog friendly ? Not anymore. Waiting staff ? P good. Now food- boy do they have some good crab dip! Sauce and creamy , they don't skimp on the crab. Pita would be so much better than nachos though. Crushes are so good and I really like the Lite Crush option ! Smart idea. Overall, average dishes for the meals. I got the crab platter and it was okay. Would go again for the vibes and the drinks. The Crushes are amazing.
