Shanghai Tavern

"It may be located within the contemporary backdrop of the Edition Hotel but the Shanghai Tavern celebrates a bygone era; the elegant space shows off its original 20C heritage and there are potted palms, waiters in white jackets, a champagne chariot and even a dessert trolley. The menu covers all bases from clam Rockefeller to steak from the Josper grill and even mac & cheese. Keen service and a soundtrack all add to its appeal." - Michelin Inspector

Canton Disco

"A fully-fledged homage to Hong Kong’s discotheque era, neon signs included, may not be to everyone’s taste, but Canton Disco somehow manages to pull it off with sophistication and little cheese factor. In addition to Cantonese menu staples such as dim sum, double-boiled soups, and sweet and sour pork, the experienced chef also puts on his creative hat for some novel items. The various set menus are great for larger parties." - Michelin Inspector

This Will Be The Most Visited Country in the World By 2030 | Vogue

"Shanghai, for example, saw a slew of luxury hotels open in 2018. To name a few—Amanyangyun, the Bulgari, the Edition, the Bellagio, the Middle House, and the Shimao Wonderland InterContinental (which, built inside an abandoned rock quarry, has 16 floors underground.)" - Elise Taylor

Such a great experience at this hotel! Everyone was amazing! The beds and bathrooms are 10/10. The hospitality was unmatched. Really appreciate how Katherine and Benjamin made sure we were well taken care of along with all the staff. I had to try and get them to say no to any request our group had and never heard it. The food was delicious, especially breakfast. The rooftop offered a breathtaking view with amazing prices. It was a spectacular experience and the highlight of my trip! Katherine is someone I will always remember.

I stayed here over 3 nights in July 2025 and had a wonderful time. Strongest of Kudos to Eric and the breakfast staff for elevating the stay. They remembered us every time we saw them and really made us feel welcome. ||My background: My family is from near Shanghai and we go regularly to China. However, we've never stayed in Shanghai proper. I was looking for a place that was convenient for essentially a family of first-time visitors to visit all the tourist spots. I am a Gold Elite as well. ||Reasons to book: I primarily book via Hyatt, but decided to stay here because it was on Nanjing Lu, close to the Bund, and was convenient for taking the subway to Pudong Airport. ||My experience: We booked two rooms via $$$. We stayed on the 18th floor in two rooms with 1 King size bed each. Our booking included breakfast. I really enjoyed the attention to service that was the true upgrade in stay. We arrived via our shuttle service and were immediately greeted by staff who took our luggage. They walked us to the check-in and gave a warm hand-off to staff there with the number of luggage we had. Check-in was seamless. Eric, the staff member who brought our luggage up with us, provided a real in-depth explanation of the room and associated amenities (which my parents really appreciated as it cleared up what was free and what cost money). That night, we had a really nice turn-down service that included chocolates and a refill on water. The breakfast was phenomenal and changed each day. Only cons were that 1) the snacks didn't get refilled and 2) I didn't have time to use the gym / pool because we were so busy during the day!||My parent's experience: This was the first time my parents stayed at a nicer hotel liked this. They typically prefer a Chinese hotel chain that they've stayed at in most visits we have had. They described their stay as "the best service they've ever received." They were also really appreciative of the breakfast and felt that it felt their tastes. The breakfast staff remembered us after the first day (and our room) and they really made us feel welcome. ||Small notes:|1. The lobby is somewhat dimly lit. |2. We were able to get coffee to go after every breakfast. |3. We had no noise issues (I was concerned about this since we were on Nanjing Lu). |4. it was raining for two of the days we were there and the umbrellas were very convenient.

First time staying at an EDITION branded hotel. The concierge from drop off to the reception desk at check in was warm and friendly. The hotel is in a great location, with instant walking distance to the Bund and metro station. The rooms are clean and modern in design, with splendid view of Lujiazui. Breakfast a la carte menu with a wide range of options offering local Shanghai cuisine. Top quality hotel, a very good experience.

The Edition is my all time favorite hotel brand and I’m so glad I got to experience it in Shanghai. The service was exceptional from the moment I got out of the taxi. Staff were already waiting to greet me and help with my luggage. Check-in at the front desk was smooth and every staff member I interacted with from the restaurant to the bar was incredibly friendly and spoke English well. My room was clean and had an amazing view. I highly recommend staying here. They truly went above and beyond my expectations.

The concierge team comprising Benjamin and his colleagues were super! I’ve not met a more helpful and supportive hotel concierge and they made the stay so much more enjoyable! It was not easy to navigate the Chinese apps and restaurant bookings and deliveries but they went out of their way to ensure every booking was smooth. The housekeepers and all day dining manager were also really friendly. Kudos to The Shanghai Edition for taking such good care of their guests!

The Shanghai Edition is a sophisticated hotel. Stylish and charismatic. A jewel within a truly cosmopolitan city like Shanghai. Located on a strategic location with access to the heart of the city “The Bung” and importantly the city Metro. All the team at The Shanghai Edition has a willingness to help and, naturally, make you feel at home. The views of the city from our room at night were unbelievable. |Our special thanks to Mr. Benjamin Zhou, Chief Concierge for his guidance in discovering some of the most beautiful landmarks in Shanghai. |Close distance to elegant malls and shopping areas. Everything you need at walking distance! Great breakfast and restaurant. Thanks, Andy, for your help. Magnificent terrace views.

I highly recommend The Shanghai Edition. I stayed there recently and had a truly excellent experience. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable — perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. The à la carte breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a hotel: delicious, varied, and thoughtfully prepared. The location is another big plus — very central, with amazing views of the river from the sky bar, especially at sunset. As someone who loves running, I really appreciated being so close to some spectacular riverside routes along the Pudong — it’s a dream for anyone who likes to start the day with a good run. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the shared spaces in the hotel are quite dark. It’s a stylistic choice that might not be for everyone. But honestly, everything else is so well done that it hardly matters. Definitely a place I’d stay at again and recommend to others without hesitation.

I stayed at The Shanghai EDITION again in late March this year, roughly six months after my previous visit. I’m happy to say the experience was just as amazing — if not better.||||The service at this hotel continues to improve. From the warm and efficient check-in at the front desk to the attentive team at Punch Room, every interaction reminded me why EDITION is known for its world-class hospitality. The staff truly go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and cared for.||||The location is also unbeatable — just a short walk from The Bund and Nanjing Road, with New World Daimaru Department Store conveniently right across the street. Whether you’re visiting Shanghai for business or leisure, this hotel offers the perfect mix of comfort, style, and convenience.
