Shanghai Tavern

"It may be located within the contemporary backdrop of the Edition Hotel but the Shanghai Tavern celebrates a bygone era; the elegant space shows off its original 20C heritage and there are potted palms, waiters in white jackets, a champagne chariot and even a dessert trolley. The menu covers all bases from clam Rockefeller to steak from the Josper grill and even mac & cheese. Keen service and a soundtrack all add to its appeal." - Michelin Inspector

Canton Disco

"A fully-fledged homage to Hong Kong’s discotheque era, neon signs included, may not be to everyone’s taste, but Canton Disco somehow manages to pull it off with sophistication and little cheese factor. In addition to Cantonese menu staples such as dim sum, double-boiled soups, and sweet and sour pork, the experienced chef also puts on his creative hat for some novel items. The various set menus are great for larger parties." - Michelin Inspector

This Will Be The Most Visited Country in the World By 2030 | Vogue

"Shanghai, for example, saw a slew of luxury hotels open in 2018. To name a few—Amanyangyun, the Bulgari, the Edition, the Bellagio, the Middle House, and the Shimao Wonderland InterContinental (which, built inside an abandoned rock quarry, has 16 floors underground.)" - Elise Taylor

The Shanghai EDITION (Shanghai, China) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Edition hotels combine the expertise of Ian Schrager, the original boutique hotelier, and hospitality giant Marriott International. The Edition Shanghai also draws in Ritz-Carlton, for an added measure of extravagant luxury, and the ultra-stylish local design team Neri & Hu. The rooms are chic and state-of-the-art, many with views of the Bund, and the public spaces, in classic Schrager style, are given top billing: there are five bars, including two on the rooftop, as well as a full-scale nightclub, and the restaurants include Japanese and Cantonese options as well as a modern British restaurant by the Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton." - Tablet Hotels

Tonight, August 31, 2025, I went to the Punch Room restaurant at the hotel to celebrate my birthday. I ordered a cocktail, a main course (beef pasta), and a portion of fries. The cocktail was served within 10 minutes without any issue. However, the main course took 45 minutes to arrive, and it was cold, as were the fries, which were also not served at the same time. I ultimately decided to eat the fries anyway, even though they were cold, as sending them back would have further delayed the meal. I sent the pasta back, but after more than an additional hour, it still had not been brought to me. By 11:00 PM, I had to ask for the bill: I had spent over two hours at the restaurant without ever receiving my main course properly. What was supposed to be a quiet, enjoyable birthday dinner turned into a complete disaster. Having worked in hospitality for six years and being accustomed to visiting this type of establishment for work, I have never experienced such a poor level of service. The management staff were not even able to offer any form of compensation. At other establishments within the group, such as The Edition, I have never encountered issues like this. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Such a great experience at this hotel! Everyone was amazing! The beds and bathrooms are 10/10. The hospitality was unmatched. Really appreciate how Katherine and Benjamin made sure we were well taken care of along with all the staff. I had to try and get them to say no to any request our group had and never heard it. The food was delicious, especially breakfast. The rooftop offered a breathtaking view with amazing prices. It was a spectacular experience and the highlight of my trip! Katherine is someone I will always remember.

This is probably the best hotel we have ever been to, and we would like to say that we spend money on hotels, for the comfort and service. The room that we had was amazing, with an amazing view and large unit. We did not even want to leave the room because of how comfortable it was. There were people that entered our room to help service it a few times a day, to restock on water and to clean accordingly. They gave us really nice chocolates on the first night we were there and a nice note from Dennis Chou, the director of rooms. Even if it was a general letter template, it still felt very personable and made me feel welcomed. There was a free travel bag that was provided to us with Le Labo toiletries. This hotel was also very central to shopping. We were at many places in Asia during that month, but Shanghai is definitely the place we want to go back to and The Edition is a big selling factor.

Our stay at The Shanghai Edition Hotel was pretty much perfect! The location is exactly where you want to be in Shanghai, the rooms, bathrooms and beds were amazing, clean, well designed, and everything of the highest quality. The views over the Bund and Pearl Tower Highline were breathtaking, breakfast and food great... and most importantly, the concierge Benjamin made our stay even more perfect. He arranged dinner reservations in advance at some of the best restaurants (that he also recommended), he helped us install our SIM and phone apps, so we could navigate Shanghai, and gave us great advice and recommendations. We really felt welcome and taken care of. We will be back!

It was our first family trip to Shanghai and we weren't exactly familiar with where to stay. We wanted to stay along Nanjing Road because of the shopping. It's ideally placed between restaurants and shops and the metro station. Shanghai is an amazing city but our stay at the hotel was what stood out. We had a million questions and Mr. Benjamin Zhou and his team answered every of one of them in a timely manner and made every one of our requests happen. We wanted to make reservations at some of the popular restaurants in town. Check. We requested to have Hanfu photo sessions set up for my daughter. They not only help set it up but Mr Zhou and Naggi helped translate our discussions with the photographer and even explained how to download of our files in WeChat. I asked Mr. Zhou if he knew of any places that served good Jiu Niang {fermented rice dessert}. He told me that the best places are found outside the city. The next afternoon it was dropped it off in my room. It tasted just like how my mom made it. The staff truly got to know us and our interests and they made all of us feel special. We've stayed at some of the best hotels in Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, Los Angeles, London and Chicago and we've never received the hospitality like we did at the Edition. The rooms are comfortable and the Shanghai Tavern has got a good selection of breakfast buffet. When we visit Shanghai again Edition will be our home.

This hotel was nothing short of spectacular. The hotel is cool, the amenities are great, the pillows are the fluffiest.................but the best part was Benjamin, the Chief Concierge who made our stay one of the best experiences we have ever had and we have traveled a lot! Benjamin's helped us schedule fun experiences, handled all the logistics and then added so many personal and thoughtful details throughout that our experience was elevated to the highest level. Thank you Benjamin! You are truly one of one person and the The BEST Concierge on the Planet. Thank you for everything . We love you-Kristen, Rich and Our entire Family!

I’ve been to many 5-star hotels but this has been among the best ones worldwide! Excellent & obliging service in all hotel facilities. Stylish, clean & big room with great views (even from the shower & bathtub) and luxury Le Labo products along with multiple welcome gifts made us feel like VIPs. :-) The breakfast is great, too. Big variety and mix of buffet & a la carte (intercontinental & Chinese). Very good location (5 min walk to subway) and in the middle of the famous shopping street, close to the bund. Don’t miss the rooftop bar!

my 4 day stay at the Shanghai edition was exceptional. The facilities plus the amenities were top notch and clean. the bathrooms and the toilets were meticulously cleaned every day, and my sheets brand new when I returned to my room at night. But what made this experience the most special was the staff. Every employee I encountered was attentive and kind; going out of their way to make me feel as comfortable as possible. A shoutout to edric, who helped me a lot during my stay. He is the most professional hotel employee I have ever encountered. He went out of his way to assist with reservations and also took the time to make sure my stay was both fun and smooth. He was attentive and found ways to resolve my problems. It really helped in making my trip stress free and enjoyable. I also received some complimentary items during my stay, which made me feel valued.
