Where To Drink The Best Pints Of Guinness In London

"The One For Anyone Missing Home The memorabilia on The Sheephaven Bay's walls is only rivalled by our mum’s shrine to our under-12's swim meet win. There’s a canopy of signed shirts, flags, and framed photos of famous visitors. Sink into the squishy sofas and order an Irish stew, sure, but this Camden spot works just as well for loud Friday nights when you want to throw a few darts and sink some of the city’s finest pints too." - sinead cranna

The 16 Best Pubs In London (For Every Situation)

"For A Tayto Buffet When we walk through the door at The Sheephaven Bay, a person in a pork pie hat and red suit with a maniacal smile waves at us. That person is the potato man from the Tayto packets. Expect to see a lot of him at this Camden pub. Crumpled in the fist of someone swigging a perfect pint, nestled beside a wall of memorabilia, and lined up on your table in a variety of flavours. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna

The Sheephaven Bay Review - Camden - London - The Infatuation

"The amount of memorabilia The Sheephaven Bay has on their walls is only rivalled by our mum’s shrine to the time we won our local swim meet. There’s a canopy of signed football shirts and flags that gently flap above the head of Guinness drinkers, framed photos of famous visitors, and the kind of chaotic ‘let’s hang everything’ approach to wall art that we appreciate. If you’re planning on staying a while, sink into the squishy sofas and order an Irish stew. But this Camden spot works just as well for loud Friday nights when you want to throw a few darts and sink some of the city’s finest pints. " - Sinéad Cranna

Located on one of Mornington crescent's backstreets, this lovely Irish pub with a lively atmosphere is a well-hidden gem and one of my go-tos when going out in Camden... Perfect for watching football or rugby with many screens playing multiple games at the same time on match days... Nice selection of beers and cosy garden as well.

Quite possibly the best pint of Guinness in London. Andrew runs a great pub. Very friendly guy, has run several pubs in London. The pub has 16 screens and 8 boxes which enables it to show a multitude of different live sport at the same time. They cater for many different groups such as Spanish football teams. Very much enjoyed a few pints in there.

After six years of living all over London I can safely say this is the best pub around. Friendly staff, fantastic Guinness (probably the best I’ve had outside of Ireland), lovely landlord, good food (Irish Stew and Sunday Roast are especially lush) local hometown pub feel. In a city that is increasingly corporate and unoriginal The Sheephaven Bay is a bastion of what a proper pub should be.

I enjoyed my visit here, we found a table in the beer garden in front of two screens showing the rugby, we came down for the Champions League Final and was told it would be shown outside. We spent 2.5 hours here prior to kick off only to be told at KO time that it is only going to be shown inside, we felt a little misled. Gaelic football was being shown outside but no-one was watching it. We left at half-time and went elsewhere. Otherwise a decent pub.

Wonderful place, seems miles away from the hippie weirdness so close by. Friendly staff, fun crowd, nice patio out back. Roomy inside also. (Editing to say that I hope the movie people from May are doing OK, and that the experience was amazing.)

My wife and I were in the neighborhood with our kids and dropped in for dinner and beers and were told “No kids after 5pm”. Completely understandable, but worth pointing out for families with kids. Several of the photos include children, which made me think it might be a rare pub that’s kid friendly.

Arsenal, celtic, real betis fan - this is for u - community is amazing. Pub has genuine history. I felt welcomed and home. The people made made this pub a friendly place unlike others pubs that I do not wish to review.

Yelp
Very much happened upon this place by chance. We were exhausted after a long morning exploring and were wandering around Camden Market looking for a spot for a quick drink and to recuperate our energy. This hit the spot. Very home-town pub feel where the few patrons there on a Monday afternoon very much all knew each other. Staff super accommodating and inviting. Enjoyed the pub cat wandering around prowling for insects. They do have some nice outdoor seating but we opted to unwind inside accompanied by surprisingly good music. Their beer choices were not my personal favorite but it wasn't that important for our purposes at that point and is probably my own bias.

Yelp
Great for watching Ireland play rugby. Atmosphere is great. Saw Ireland win 6 nations here. Ales ok. Guiness good. Not a fake Irish boozer.

Yelp
Sheephaven Bay is probably the best pub in the area to watch sport on television. With multiple screens and several rooms the pub will be full and yet you'll still probably be able to find a seat somewhere during match days. They also (inexplicably?) have Coors Light on tap... although I was told by a professional Coors Light drinker that it's actually regular Coors in the US, it's just marketed as Coors Light here in the UK. Regardless, I've never been a Coors Light drinker, but I will admit that after running around in Regents Park for a couple hours a ice cold Coors Light is quite refreshing. For the ale drinkers out there, not to worry, they also have a few on cask for you to try. Unfortunately I haven't tried any of the food yet, so this review is only for the drinking and atmosphere, so I'll have to try some next time I'm there and update my review!

Yelp
This is a cracking little pub. Tucked away just behind Mornington Crescent tube, this is a relative rarity in London - an Irish pub that actually feels Irish. None of your O'Neill's-esque idiocy here. On top of a really authentic ambience, they also boast traditional Irish food - burger and chips, fish and chips, etc. It reminded me of copious summers spent in Donegal, where little Ciaran would marvel at the sheer volume of junk people from the north of Ireland can hoover away. Then again, I was smacked up on Club Orange most of the time, so what do I know. We were in for a Celtic Champions League tie, so the atmosphere was buzzing. Get involved.

Yelp
I'm seeing positive reviews here and guessing none of the reviewers have interacted with the owner. A waitress told us she would turn on the game on the screen we were sitting by, but she never did. So at the start of the game I approached a man at the bar to say that we were still waiting for the game to be put on our screen as well, and his answer was that whatever I've been told was a lie (wtf?). I said OK, are you going to play the game or not? To which he answered "don't tell me what to do, I'm the owner." But then someone else came asking for the game as well, so he grabbed the remote and walked over while asking the other guy "are you with this prick?" End of story. You should never support someone who would treat and insult their guest like this. Up to you if you'd still like to go.

Yelp
Have been once or twice to watch football, and they've been showing several games at once (admittedly only the main one with the volume on), so great if you can multitask, but somewhat distracting if you can't. Tried the chips, which weren't too bad. Plenty of seating and atmosphere's not terrible. They have darts if that's your thing too. Not bad, but nothing that really draws you back again either.

Yelp
Nice pub, which I only seem to visit for their excellent pub quiz on a Monday night. I really should go more. The place seems to be run by Irish people, with a policy of hiring Spanish (or at least Mediterranean/Latino) staff. Whatever it is, they are all very friendly. They have a limited but reliable ale selection and the food is fine. The aforementioned quiz is a pleasure. It is free to enter if you don't want to join in the snowball round for £1. That £1 allows you to have sausages, chips and beans at the end of the night. Brilliant.
